JaK rose, with his bangs covering his eyes and his clothes torn in multiple areas. Then looked up and standing up right with his hands clenched at his sides....

"Do it."

JaK then looked to Will, determined, as much as he hated this situation, his body would eventually counteract the radiation and all that pain he just went through would be pointless. Besides...He had to know.

"Let it down"

JaK was ready, mentally, spiritually, but physically could he put it off?

"Just what are you two doing?" Grace asked. A battle with flying mountains and huge explosions was pretty hard to miss. She was sure that Will had a good reason for what he was doing. A part of her still wanted to see JaK get flattened by a mountain. But these two had always been friends. Whey were they fighting? Why was Will ready to crush JaK beneath a mountain? Nobody could survive that!

With just seconds to spare to get ready for the mountain since it's been dropping back to the Earth from the moment Will had started the fight, Will feels his blood turn icy as he heard the question that his queen suddenly asked.

JaK had come here for help, he wants to unlock a new power in himself. If he can do it, then right now will be the time that he can.

Making a small chant, wind starts to swirl around Will as he taunts JaK to come and attack him. Not forgetting about Grace being in the danger of getting crushed by a mountain, Will casts a shield of magical energy at Grace to surround her.

JaK's body began to radiate a bit, and his mind drifted off. Maybe it had something to do with the radiation, maybe it had something to do with the demonic influence within his body, but he was starting to turn feral in mentality.

Not animalistic, but...Bloodthirsty. Something JaK had never been, but was a trait of his brother. He had been angry before, pissed, determined, but right now something was changing in him and was actually becoming visible all over his body. Proven by how he didn't notice Grace was there and instead attacked Will. Running at a ridiculous pace even for him as he dashed across the ice with his arms flailing backwards at his dies in zig zag type pattern and then jumped into the air over Psychosis and landed behind him. Where he then lunged forward for a strike at Psycho, but rather than forming a fist it was an open palm claw like attack.

Sage was looking for some new power from within himself? And dropping a mountain on him was the only way to awaken it? That was ridiculous! Especially now that Sage had entered a bloodthirsty state. He hadn't even noticed her or stopped fighting, and was charging at her husband with murder in his eyes.

Grace wanted to draw her sword and cut Sage down before he could reach her master. However, she knew that wouldn't help. Sage was covered in armor, and she wasn't strong enough to cut through metal. Besides, he would just heal.

Noticing the magical barrier forming around her, Grace realized that Will wasn't going to stop the mountain. Anything else she did at this point would only distract him, and that could be a fatal mistake when a mountain was falling on you. Grace stood patiently with her arms crossed and waited for the mountain to crush Sage. At least then he would stop attacking her husband.

Not catching JaK's sudden rush as he was casting the shield over Grace, nor that a change in JaK had happened, Will looks up suddenly as JaK jumps over him. Hearing the sound of JaK landing behind him, Will begins turning around when he feels a shocking pain in his side. Stepping back from JaK, Will clutches the area underneath the side of his rib as blood starts pouring down the side of his armor. Keeping his right hand pressed against the wound that JaK made by stabbing into Will's body because of the metal. Will looks at JaK and notices the change in his expression. JaK has left going his best against Will. Now he is trying to destroy Will.

Agh... This is good. JaK's lost it completely n... Now. Really hope this is going to work or Grace is going have an awkward time when the League comes to see what happened here.

Acting fast so he doesn't give JaK another opening, Will charges at his friend and ducking low to avoid any swings from JaK's arms, only to follow up by spinning upward and slamming his fist against JaK's chin with an uppercut.

JaK lunged forward again, his skin was starting to turn more and more red now as the aura became apparent. He looked like a Z fighter using the Kaioken technique, but once Will ducked it and hit him in the chin JaK was sent flying in the air and fell back into the ice. Where he screamed out in pain, while his body convulsed and contorted until finally JaK had turned fully red it would seem. His body was converting all the debris around him into an armor substance of pure matter. However, his mind was no longer present as he rose, from which Psychosis could tell by reading it. He had entered his survival mode; JaK was gone from this personality, so it'd be best to just call it "Sage". The true form or extent of his powers; Sage Mode. and it had one focus, which was to finish it's target, Will. It was a fight of flight response, but had no intention of running.

JaK then ran across the ice, perfectly moving faster than even his capabilities. This was due to all the debris, which would usually buffer movement being transformed into matter armor instantaneously. As he ran JaK dug his palms into his own body, which looked odd as if he was injuring himself, but then suddenly flung his wrists forward, launching shrapnel pieces of his pure matter form at Psychosis like a screen of projectile fire.

No! Sage had injured Will. That was unforgivable. It was obvious at this point that Sage was out of control. His skin was turning red and his eyes were glowing like a demon's. Grace's reaction was to use her ice magic on him, but she didn't have it anymore. May the Hat die a thousand deaths for ridding Grace of her means to defend the one she loved.

She had been learning the way of the sword for a few months now, but she was nowhere near ready to fight Sage as an equal. Grace hated feeling helpless. It was a new emotion. All her life she had defended those who were weaker than her. Was there truly nothing she could do now?

Grace reached down to the snow covered ground and formed a small snowball. With careful aim, she threw it at Sage. It wouldn't hurt him, but maybe it would shock him back to his senses. At this point, it was all Grace could really do.

Putting his hand up in front of him, a white light shine from his palms as an aura appears around Will, blocking the incoming shrapnel. Beginning to feel weak from the bloody wound in his side, Will pants hard as he exhales with each breathe. Waiting for JaK to get close enough, Will gets ready for him by putting his hands on the ground where a circle appears underneath both whilst he chants another incantation. Coming out of the ground like a viper striking it's prey, icy chains lunge out of the snowy ground to bind JaK up.

JaK continued his charge, even extending an arm towards Will's throat as he drew upon him, but then suddenly was captured by the ice chains. They entangled around all his limbs, even his extended arm, which stopped just before reaching Psychosis. He made no noise still as he wriggled to get free, but it could be seen the chains were already starting to melt, or be converted into his red matter body-armor. Then there were those eyes, his hatred, his anger piercing into you quietly as JaK attempted to get free and continue his rampage.

Keep in mind, fights took place usually in a matter of seconds and this entire showdown had happened within the time span of only a minute. Just enough time for the mountain to finally come down, directly on the spot that Will had trapped JaK and seemingly crushed him. Meanwhile, William flew back out of range. The impact of the mountain dropping on top of him was tremendous, there was no way anything less than a meta-human with Aquaman's strength on land could've survived that and even then...It was questionable for even members of the JLA.

The mountain landed, sending a terrible storm of debris towards Grace. She braced herself out of instinct, but Will's magical barrier protected her from taking any damage.

Was that it? Was Sage really dead now? Grace knew the boy had a crazy healing factor, but a mountain wasn't something you could heal from. Why had Sage come all this way? What power did he need to unlock so badly that he would risk killing himself to get it?

Would Grace risk her life to regain her power? For a while, she would have probably said yes. But life without powers had changed her. They weren't the only important things in life. As long as Grace had Will, she would be content.

As the cloud of snow and dirt finally cleared, Grace looked for any sign of Sage. She really didn't expect to find him, but what else could she do? She may never have liked Sage, but he was a fellow comrade, and deserved at least a search.

Flying as fast as he could to get out from underneath the mountain, Will escapes the looming shadow of the mountain just in time to save himself. Coming over to Grace, Will brings himself to a stop and makes himself a shield to protect him from the mass of ice, snow, and rocks that was launched up from the crash.

Keeping a calm in his expression, Will actually feels worried about JaK. Hoping he didn't crush his friend to death, Will keeps his eyes on the mountain, waiting for any sign of Sage. Beginning to feel exhausted from his excessive use of magic, from raising a mountain above the stratosphere to making a mini nuclear bomb, Will steadily fights to keep himself concentrated so that he would know the results.

A vision appears in JaK's mind during split time collision, but it seemed to last forever....It was white and so warm. JaK was holding the hand of someone; soft, smooth, tender...It was his mother's...Then came the words of his name, uttered in her voice through the milky white scenery. Just one time his name was called and then he thought he saw her face; it was beginning to fade into the whiteness. Yes, the shape of it, her hair, all forming in the abyss. But, then the face upon flowing closer was shown black with glowing eyes, and the hair was but the hood of Necati, who approached JaK's face and took down his hood causing the entire scene to suddenly burst into black!

That's when JaK woke from his vision and from his demented rampage, just as the mountain hit. Moments passed...Then minutes...Then 10 minutes....JaK still did not emerge.

Finally, after 12 minutes...The ice began to rumble and then out from under it a hole was created and out popped a hand. However, the hole had collapsed in or rather had been disintegrated just as the hand emerged and out climbed Sage. Breathing very hard and eyeing Will, who looked to be in just as bad a shape or worse than what he was.

"It worked."

JaK then collapsed in front of Will and Grace, he was spent, but he had gotten what had come for. A new ability: he could now deconstruct and break apart the bonding molecules of matter through nerve pulse as long as he knew what it was formed by. In this case, the composition of ice. He had done so just as the mountain hit, burying him 6 feet under it, and then been tunneling toward Psychosis ever since.

Once upon a time, Grace would have been able to tell if Sage was still alive or not. Wasn't Will able to do that? He was a telepath after all. Or was the sheer mass of the mountain too thick to search through.

They waited there, at the ruins of a mountain. Will and Grace. They had both known Sage for a long, long time. And now it seemed that he was dead.

If only it were so easy...

A hand came bursting forth out of the rubble. It was Sage! He was alive! Even Grace couldn't help but feel excited. She also had to admit a bit of jealousy. Will was now throwing mountains around, and Sage was surviving being hit by them. What was Grace doing? What was Deep Freeze doing? She was playing around with some swords in the snow. She still felt worthless to her friends. In her heart, she wished that she could be on their level.

She didn't want Will to notice, so she focused on her excitement for Sage. If he could survive something like that, then what chance would any villain have of taking him down? Sage could become a great weapon for justice!

Whether or not Will noticed her thoughts, something else had noticed. It had been drawn to this spot by the power of the Chaos Rings. There was no intention to steal the Rings from JaK. This thing only wanted to...observe. To see the Gate finally open! But now this strange entity had noticed Grace, and it appeared in physical form.

The being was a temporal anomaly, a creature that existed in all times. Past, present, and future were all one to it. Now, hearing Grace's thoughts, it turned it's attention on her. Why did she long so much for power? It was because she had once had power, but had lost it. What was this? The anomaly took a closer look.

Grace noticed the monster and screamed in terror. It was unworldly, having no clear definition or outline.

The anomaly saw a hole inside Grace's heart. It was holding her power permanently at bay. This was the work of the enemy! Of the Evil Nexus of all things negative! Well, any enemy of The Hat was a friend of the anomaly, so he reached out his hand to touch her.

"Grace Koori Dore..." Grace backed up, but fell over as the monster's hand drew nearer. "Your wish...is granted." As his unclear hand touched her, Grace disappeared. She had been pulled into the fluid time stream. Even the Anomaly itself didn't know how she would turn out.
