Jailbreak (Kyte/Invite)

Suzuki stood outside the prison, looking the walls up and down as she walked around the fence. The damage seemed to be repaired, and there were a few criminals inside again. Names Suzuki wasn't familiar with, but a head in here was better than out there hurting others. She wished she knew more about how it happened, or what happened.

"I don't know. Maybe it was some guys from that criminal organization - HIVE? It could have just been a really good plan. Nothing crazy. They all happened at the same time, so it'd have to be huge."

Suzuki sounded a little disappointed. She was hoping to find some evidence of some supernatural thing that handled these breakouts. There was something off about the place, but even her eyes couldn't spot anything out of the ordinary.

"Besides, I don't think we're supposed to be doing investigations anymore. Not with the new police force."

Suzuki was getting memories of HOPE back in her homeland. It seemed that the idea of heroes was starting to cause controversy across the world, and America was catching up. Jump City might treat their heroes like they're just that - heroes, but the government had more pull and more power. It was a matter of time before it was up for debate anyway. In fact, Suzuki looked over her shoulder and spotted two DOMA agents patrolling with weapons drawn already.

Rico had a slight smile on. She was there in her civvies- regular clothes were what she usually wore; after all, she didn't really have an iconic red coat like a certain legendary Sin she was descended from. At least not yet. She was smiling because she was with Suzuki. She was always happy to be with Suzuki. With everything she had read, she had always been convinced she would never find love like the way people talked about it. But Suzuki was that for her.

She got her head out of the clouds, looking around at the prison with the special eyes Suzuki had. After all, she had the best eyes out of anyone she had ever seen. Her right arm was wrapped in bandages again, to keep from drawing attention to her too much at least. She looked thoughtful on the matter.

"You have a very good point, Suzu...but I don't know." She continued scanning their surroundings with her. "We got here too late. Way too late. If we had been here before everything was fixed, maybe we could find something more meaningful..." She returned her gaze to Suzuki with a light smile, taking her hand as a touch of red came to her cheeks. "You're right...maybe I should have thought about this more. Let's leave. We can try something else later."

"We got here as soon as we could. It's not your fault. This place still feels a bit... off though."

Suzuki said, turning to look at Rico. The smile made her heart skip a beat and she smiled back, her all business attitude dropping for the moment. She loved Rico so much. In all of her life the losses were great, but just getting Rico made it all feel so much better. Not worth it, nothing would ever be worth all of the loved ones she'd hurt... but it made it better. Genuinely.

"We would have been stupid not to look at the scene, no matter how unlikely it was to find anything here."

The DOMA guards stood about 20 feet away now, and coincidentally a large explosion echoed out and knocked the soldiers back. Suzuki flinched, jumping forward to catch the flying body of one of the men. Screams and echoes were heard as the alarms in the prison went off. Another attack?! Apparently the idea of kicking the prison while it was rebuilding was enticing to the villains. A few armed men stepped out, pointing their guns towards the pair of guards and now Suzuki.

"Rico! Get down!"

She shouted, taking off with the guard - barely conscious - in tow to dive behind a rock just in time for bullets to be ricocheting off the sides. The guard looked up, a little disoriented still. He tried to talk. "Sta...nd, down... meta..."

"You were about to die!"

She made a slight noise in her throat and nodded when Suzuki said that the place felt off. That was exactly what Rico had been trying to say before. And Suzuki was making a lot of sense to her at this point. It made her remember how Suzuki had been a year prior. And she couldn't help but admire how confident she was now. Was it because of her? Possibly a bit prideful to suggest, but it would make her beam with pride if she was right nonetheless.

"Thank you, Suzuki...I love you-"

Then, an explosion! Who had the nerve to set off an explosion while they were having a moment? Armed assailants with an unknown motive, apparently. She dove to the floor and drew her gun as Suzuki grabbed one guard that flew towards her and took cover. Rico's arm glowed from within the bandages and the bandages would burn away in a purple blaze, revealing her arm to be black and glowing purple from the membranous areas. She put her arm on the floor in front of her like a magician trying to hide a card, creating a wall between her and the assailants where her arm was protecting both the remaining guard and herself. As the bullets hit her arm she winced in pain. It was intense pain, but the bullets had been deflected.

She then opened a small space between her middle and ring finger as her arm glowed. The projected arm would do the same and she took three quick pot shots at the guards with rubber bullets, right at their faces and necks. It would hurt a lot and/or knock them out if she was at all accurate. She quickly sealed the gap and reloaded with one hand as Suzuki's guard complained. "Well, at least they're committed!" she exclaimed sarcastically, before sweeping her hand to grab the guard when she had a moment and then rolling behind some cover near Suzuki, bringing the guard with her.

Seeing Rico commit to the fight gave Suzuki the go ahead that she needed to do the same. She wasn't going to get involved without Rico's permission, she didn't know what consequences came from interfering with the local military police. She didn't want to think about it, either. So when Rico jumped behind the rock with her, guarding the guards, she gave a quick nod. The bad guys had HIVE badges on anyway. This was clear cut.

"They must think this place is easy, if all they're sending is foot soldiers. Can you cover me?"

Assertive. Bold. Things Suzuki rarely associated with herself, but if they were going to be shooting at someone Suzuki wanted them shooting at her. So before Rico could protest much, she jumped out from the cover. Her eyes calmly scanned the men and their guns, determining where they were pointing as she ran. She threw her hands behind her back and kept her head low. She'd juke in time with the soldiers, avoiding the bullets impressively - even considering her eyes. She threw a shuriken, lightning cackling off the metal as she did. It hit the closest soldier in the arm, dealing little damage but the electricity jumped to the guns in all the soldiers hands, making them drop.

"Now, offensive!"

She'd yell as she jumped at the one she'd hit. The soldier was trained well, but too predictable for Suzuki. She dropped him quickly. The sound of sirens in the distance were starting to ring out. DOMA reinforcements, maybe? Just as the criminals were getting pushed back.

With Suzuki's eyes, Rico could notice the HIVE badges on the soldiers as well, and she made sure that no part of the guard was protruding from cover. Suzuki said since all HIVE was sending was their foot soldiers, that they must not have been taking this job too seriously. Rico nodded gently, but then Suzuki asked her to cover her. She blinked. She was very attached to Suzuki. So naturally she wanted to defend her as much as possible. But... Suzuki felt the exact same way, didn't she? And this was the business that they were in. So Rico decided that really, the best thing she could do was protect her while she was fighting so hard for her. So she smiled and nodded. "Of course, love."

As Suzuki ran into action, Rico sprung up, using Suzuki's godly vision to take aim at their guns, and fire rubber shots down the barrels while they were shooting. It would cause them to jam, luckily not too violently, which would cut down the number of bullets aimed at her love. Then when the guns were dropped, Rico ran into the fight right with Suzuki, coming in for a drop kick straight into the chest of a soldier turning on Suzuki. She slid on the floor near another one, striking at his legs with the gun and knocking him to the floor as she got on top of the soldier she kicked and put him out with her right hand, using her gun to club another. Suzuki's eyes really were the best. At this rate they would make short work of the soldiers.

Things were going well for the two vigilantes, and the HIVE soldiers were dropping like flies... until Suzuki saw a strange pink spark fly out just in time to hit the back of her left foot. The ground beneath her then slid loose out of nowhere, making the raven haired girl lose her balance and slip as a soldier was giving a kick to her gut. She slid back, coughing a few times.

"What the..."

A quick scan revealed the source of the magic stepping out from behind a tree. Jinx had a sly smirk on her face as their gazes met. Suzuki knew the villain, but her understanding of how the pinkettes powers worked were... limited at best.

"Watch out, Love! It's not just foot soldiers!"

"It's not your lucky day, kids."

Suzuki jumped up to her feet again, kicking the soldier and dodging a bolt of magic. The fight was more hard with the witches powers, and the DOMA guys were closing in. Were they coming to help, or were they coming as enemies?

Rico, all things considered, was having a very good time with her girlfriend. She was with her, kicking ass together, and that alone was enough to thank the universe for. So of course something had to come along and mess it all up.

And, ironically enough, it was someone who controlled bad luck that was causing her such misfortune.

Rico looked at Suzuki in a bit of concern when she got kicked like that, but nodded when she got back up and handled the assailant, returning her attention to Jinx. "She controls probability, Bright Eyes. Be careful." She reached into her harness and pulled out her sword, and it unfolded to its full length as she put the gun back in its holster. She only had a few more bullets left anyways.

"Then I guess we'll have to remove any Jinxes to get our luck back." She could hear the DOMA units closing in. With any luck, they would be trying to bring the three of them in. And while Rico wasn't big on anti-establishment mentality, she definitely wasn't going to let them get in the way of her and Suzuki helping people.

A few more of the remaining HIVE soldiers closed in and she would make a quick sweep with her right fist, knocking them back and away from her. She darted forward and grabbed one by the ankle, whipping him around and throwing him at Jinx to keep her distracted while she ran towards her.

Suzuki nodded at Rico's warning. The words made sense, but seeing them in action was... different. It was hard to predict a power of probabilities. Quickly, Suzuki thought that it'd be nice if Rico could steal that for later, but that was just if it presented itself. As Rico tried to throw the body at Jinx, another spark of energy went towards Rico's hand and Suzuki moved quickly. She ran forward and jumped in front of it, landing on the ground harshly and uncharacteristically rolling her ankle. Unlucky.

"Ah-"

She quietly yelped, hissing in pain as the body was successfully launched at its target. Jinx moved, taking only a bit of the blow, not looking too slowed as she shot her magic upwards and just before Rico was in range to attack a tree branch fell between the two, buying her some time to breathe.

"You two just don't know when to quit!"

The pinkette shouted and Suzuki smirked. They were nothing if not tenacious. Her hands crackled with lightning as she prepared a serious attack, hoping to take out Jinx but before she could let it go off a voice screamed to them from a megaphone.

"CEASE ACTION! HANDS IN THE AIR, YOU ARE UNDER ARREST!"

Suzuki looked up to see a helicopter circling them, and the distraction was enough for a bolt of bad luck to hit her hands. This made the lightning unstable and it shot off in every direction, brushing against the helicopter. No damage was done but it was clear that the attack was poorly received. Bullets started to fly and Suzuki acted quickly, summoning the Susano'o to protect her and Rico.

"I'm sorry, Karma! I let my guard down! We... should leave!"

Jinx was way ahead of them, already out of sight from Suzuki. HIVE must have planned an escape.

To be fair, Rico was having much of the same thoughts when it came to Jinx's probability manipulation. But events were unfolding in front of them too fast for her to take advantage of it. And even as she was getting closer to Jinx, Suzuki was getting hit by her attacks instead of letting them hit her! It made her angry at Jinx for hurting her beloved. She saw Suzuki roll her ankle, gasping lightly. "S-" She caught herself and glared at Jinx, starting for her again while Jinx shot at a tree branch and made it fall. Rico noticed what was happening and punched it with her right arm, sending it rocketing towards Jinx.

But then, there was a helicopter?! Why hadn't she heard it? Her lips formed a line as she steeled herself. It doesn't matter. It's here. Figure out how later. Rico saw the probability blast hit Suzuki's hands which were sparking with her lightning abilities, and then ducked, as the helicopter was almost grazed and started shooting at them. She grit her teeth and held her arm before her. It would probably get shredded but it was better than being dead...until she felt the familiar purple blaze around her. She grimaced to Suzuki as her Susano'o formed. "Today really is bad luck..."

She looked around. Jinx had an exit strategy. What should theirs be? "They're coming on the ground, too. We can get in the car, but they'll be able to follow us in their vehicles. If we run on foot, we can run across the water, but the we'd be sitting ducks for the helicopter." She looked to Suzuki. "Maybe we should hide, and then get in the car when they lose us?"

As they debated the plan, Suzuki kept her eyes trained on the Susano'o armor. It was holding well, considering, but it wouldn't last much longer. These DOMA guys really meant business, and they'd set up so fast with automatic weapons... it almost felt like they'd been setting up for this Jump City takeover for ages. A thought to dwell on later.

"That sounds like a plan! I have to drop the Susano'o, so be careful. If you watch the guns, it's easier to dodge... we just need to get clear of the helicopter... wait for the reload."

As if on queue, the firing paused for a moment as the man on the edge of the helicopter started reloading. Suzuki dropped the Susano'o and took off in a full sprint towards and alley that was ahead. She'd make sure Rico could keep up and was safe, letting the other girl stay just enough in front that Suzuki never lost sight of her.

"Over the fence!"

Suzuki would say in a hushed whisper, running up the wall and over the barbed fence that was in the middle of the alley. She knew Rico wouldn't have trouble keeping up there. When they were over it, there was an abandoned building in front of them. It looked like it was under construction, but no workers were around. Lunch break, maybe? DOMA agents could be heard, as well as the helicopter.

"Where should we hide?"

Rico smiled, glad Suzuki agreed with her on the course of action that they were going to take. Suzuki said that she would have to drop their armor, and told her to watch the guns so that the bullets would be easier to dodge. Rico nodded. She wanted to give her a quick kiss on the cheek, but if it distracted Suzuki even the slightest, they could end up dead. So she pushed the thoughts away. She looked to the gunman as he ran out of bullets. Well that was pretty lucky!

She didn't hesitate, making a break for it with Suzuki while the man reloaded. It shouldn't take too long if he was a trained professional, so they had to make every moment count. She made sure to keep an eye on the guns while heading towards their destination, of course keeping an eye on their surroundings when she could as well.

They made their way into an alley and Rico nodded as Suzuki instructed her to follow her over the fence. She ran along the walls with Suzuki- she was copying her Tsukuyomi ability, after all- and followed her to the front of a construction site. Even as Suzuki asked her where they should hide, Rico was quickly taking in all the information she could. They only had a short time to decide.

If they went into the building and tried climbing higher, the helicopter could spot them through any windows. Then again, it likely didn't have power right now. And it was midday, so perhaps it wouldn't be too easy to spot them. It was the best option they had.

"Inside and upstairs. We'll run up a few floors and then we'll see if they follow us inside." She ran forward to the doors, opening one up for Suzuki and making sure they both got in before closing it behind them. She would then run up to the fifth floor with Suzuki and use the exit door, waiting outside of it to listen for any men coming up the stairs after.

Rico, as always, had a plan right away that was well thought out. Suzuki didn't let herself get caught up on internally praising her lover, it really wasn't the time, but she did make a mental note that Rico was amazing. They made a run for the door, and Suzuki nodded as Rico held it open for her. The running and the stairs were easy, but Suzuki had a feeling that they weren't safe yet.

"You're okay, right? Nothing got you? I'm sorry... I feel like this mess is my fault. I let my guard down back there... we could be in serious trouble now."

Suzuki was looking down, a little ashamed of herself. She really was more trouble than she was worth, and it was probably only a matter of time before Rico realized that and left. Suzuki was going to enjoy every second between now and then, though.

"I think I hear something..."

Just like that, it was back to business and Suzuki's timid behavior was banished back to the deep pits of her mind. Where she liked it. She put her ear to the door with Rico, hearing a few commands being shouted out to the DOMA soldiers. The beginnings of an idea were forming in the ninja's mind.

"Spread out, two to a floor! We have to find those Metas! Any means necessary!"

Suzuki looked to Rico, whispering a plan that she came up with.

"What if we... took two of them out, and put on their body armor? Think we could walk out of here?"

Rico caught her breath with Suzuki as they waited by the stairs. She smiled lightly to Suzuki when she asked if she was alright, and started blaming herself for the danger that they were both part of now. She said that she let her guard down, and that they could be in serious trouble because of her. Rico shook her head, and grabbed Suzuki firmly, pulling her in for a gentle, but passionate kiss. It was quiet, and Rico enjoyed the moment. "Suzu, I'm fine...thanks to you. We're going to be fine." She sealed the affirmation with another gentle kiss, mouthing an I love you, before listening and hearing the guards coming up the stairs.

She listened to Suzuki's idea, considering it with some thought. "It might be our best shot," she said quietly, starting to walk with Suzuki to the end of the hallway to duck around a corner. "They might be using radios. We should wait until they're done clearing this floor to take them out if possible, and then we can change and use that window of time to make our exit. Does that sound good?"

The kiss was unexpected, but very pleasant. Suzuki returned it with as much passion as it was given with, if not more. Gods she loved this woman. It was an unlucky day, but Suzuki definitely felt like the most lucky girl in the world still. She mouthed back an I love you, of her own after Rico's, her face a silly and dumbstruck smile despite the severity of the situation.

"So, we'll have to blend in until they give the all clear. Follow my lead?"

Suzuki was trained in stealth, after all. Outsmarting a couple goons would be child's play for her. She led Rico to a nondescript spot, just over a few slabs of steel. She jumped, feet sticking to the wall as she walked up and found a nice little outcrop for them to huddle in. The fit was tight, but being close to Rico was hardly torture. In fact, Suzuki would argue that it was a nice thing that the crawlspace was small and she was pressed against the love of her life.
Back on topic, the two soldiers entered the room. They secured the perimeter first, which was professional. If they had been against anything less than a ninja there was a good chance they'd be able to find it. It was just not their day. The search went on for a grand total of 8 and a half minutes before they seemed like they were wrapping up, and Suzuki nodded to Rico.

"Floor five, all clear. Cat 576."

A callsign. Good thing Rico asked them to wait. Now, though, Suzuki was on the move. She left the closer one to Rico as she slid up behind the far soldier. Her assault was simple, she punched the man in the side and lightning was seen jumping off her fist. The man tensed and then fell. Success. Suzuki would back up Rico if she needed it.
