STAR Labs

Model Eleven walked into the main doors of STAR Labs. The huge tower housed the most advanced technology on the planet. He was met by security guards, of course, and he told them that he was the next installment of the Model 10 Anti-Terror Code. As they waited for a response from the director, Evan turned to Zack, who stood a good distance away. "Have you ever needed repairs, Zack?"

Zack's strained grimace momentarily flashed into a full out grin as he answered. "All my wounds are skin deep, Mod. The monsters what diced up my corpse knew what they were doing. It's some spiffy new metal alloy. Real heavy like, but it can barely scratch it's self. Aside from the day I joined the Titans, nobody's touched my insides since I died!" Zack chuckled. "I guess it's a mixed blessing your creators don't have access to it! You'd nearly never need repairs, but I wouldn't be able to beat you down any where near as quick when ya freak out."

A scientist came to the door and welcomed them in. "We are glad to meet you Model Eleven, and you too Silent Night. Come this way."

The scientist, who's name tag said 'Wellman,' led them through several corridors until they got to a small room with multiple computers in it. "I was informed that your code is corrupt," said Wellman. "Is that correct?"

"That is true," said Evan.

"We are willing to fix your code entirely free of charge. However, we will need to deactivate your code while we fix it. Is that acceptable?"

Normally Evan would have said yes without hesitation. Why did he not want to do this? He looked to Zack for guidance.

Zack raised an eyebrow. This whole situation was eerily similar to some of the horror movies he had watched with Jay. Meh... Might as well let it play out... Zack though to himself. Noticing Evan looking at him, Zack's grin widened as his eyes closed and he flashed a thumbs up and a shrug. "Oi, Dr. Spivey, how long is this gonna take?"

"Oh, it will only take a few minutes, Silent Night," said Dr. Wellman, who did well not to react to the nickname.

Evan sat in the chair in the center of the room and shut himself down. For a moment it looked as though he had something to say, but then his eyes closed and his body went stiff.

Wellman got right to work. He opened up Evan's head, revealing a mass of wires and motherboards. "Hmm," he said after two minutes. "This is amazing." He got on a laptop and typed a brief message to another researcher. The computer screen was facing away from Zack.

Standing up, Wellman plugged a small device into Model Eleven's opened head. A prominent computer screen announced that the "copying process" had begun.

"Now, Silent Night," said Wellman. "You want this AI back in the exact condition it was in when it came to you, is that correct? Oh don't worry, it will still have all of its memories, it just won't have any...flaws in the code."

"Whadd'ya classify as flaws, eh Dr. Spivey?" Zack's suspicions were now aroused, though he kept these thoughts to himself. If his doubts were true, then the last thing he wanted was to let this creep know that he was on to him.

"The Eleven code had become attatched to some unexpected variables. These variables could cause the code to make undesired decisions. We are going to study these parasitical variables further, but for now, we can give you a fixed version."

Wellman activated the new Model Eleven. There seemed to be something different about his eyes. At the same time, two security guards entered the room.

"These two will escort you Titans to the door, Silent Night," said Wellman. Model Eleven stood from the chair and walked to the door, making no eye contact with Zack.

"Huh... He's definitely different. I wonder if you fixed the magnet problem..." Out of mild curiosity(and his mischievous desire to wreak havoc, Zack allowed his field to spread, repelling metals, with the exception of his weapons. "Let's see just what they fixed, eh?"

Model Eleven felt the magnetism level rising. He calmly turned around to Zack.

"Please lower magnetism level. This program will remain in lockdown until magnetism is dropped to acceptable levels."

Meanwhile, the large computer screen in the room started to blink quickly. Wellman walked over to the computer and typed furiously. "I need help, here." he said into the intercom. "Magnets seem to have activated the ghost. I need help containing it."

The two security guards were armed with impact-magnifying batons. They approached Zack quickly. "Sir, we must ask you to leave now."

"Yea... That's pretty much what I thought." Zack drew his combat knife and Glock, opening fire on the two guards as he almost casually walked toward Wellman. "Now now, Doctor Spivey, let's see this Nurse Ratchet ya've been talking to." Assuming the guards would either be dead or unwilling to charge an armed lunatic, Zack turned his attention to Wellman, leveling his Glock at the doctor's face. "Kindly reveal the true face of this asylum or I'll reveal what your brain looks like. Either way, it'll be a fun learning experience for us all! Except for you of course."

In spite of Wellman's panic, he still managed to look confused by Zack's words. Turning the monitor, he showed only a lot of data and a video feed with a frantic clerk. The clerk was in the middle of a sentence: "...might disappear if we delete the code."

Wellman looked at Zack, with a face of pretend innocence. "Um...You're powers...seem to be harming our computers."

The computer monitor that was freaking out displayed a large green square on it, and it started shouting "No! No! No!"

The guards didn't move. They were either dead or dying.

"No? What about yes?" Zack lowered his magnetic field, then concentrated on neutralizing it. "Well, nurse Ratchet, we finally meet. While I can't threaten you for answers, I can always shoot Spivey here, so pray tell me, what is going on here?"

The clerk on the other side of the video chat seemed truely shocked to see Zack with a gun out. He could tell that the treat was real. "Um...Your magnet powers awakened the ghost. We found the ghost attatched to the Eleven Code, which you brought in. By Ghost, of course, I mean a soul that somehow became entangled in the program. We thought that was what you wanted to have fixed, so we removed it."

With the magnets down, the large computer monitor stopped showing squares, and instead showed an image of Evan. "Help me, Zack. They're trying to steal my mind."

Meanwhile, the souless copy of Model Eleven standing behind Zack regained its functionability. "Silent Night, you are a threat." The robot pulled out its taser and fired it at Zack's torso.

Zack raised an eyebrow. "What idiot thought that? As boring as Mod is, he'll be even worse if ya take his mind. Unless it makes him more interesting, though I doubt that. I think it'd be wise of ya to put 'im back. And just in case you think I ain't serious," Zack turned to face Wellman, a cruel light glinting in his eyes. "Spivey, you don't need both your legs ta work do you?" Without waiting for an answer Zack kicked Wellman in the chest, knocking the man into a nearby office chair. Before anyone could react, Zack took careful aim and squeezed the trigger, blowing a chunk out of Wellman's right kneecap. Turning back to the clerk, Zack noticed the image of Evan. "Bah, hold tight, Mod. Ya know, you're lucky you're on my team. Otherwise I really wouldn't bother with all of this." He aimed the gun at Wellman's other leg. "Now then, nurse Ratchet, either you or Doctor Spivey will be correcting this within the next minute or Spivey will lose more body parts, gottit?" Zack was facing away from Evan's body when it regained function, and as a result took the tazer in the back. Unlike the last time Evan had shot Zack with a tazer, Zack was facing away, and the electrified barbs, which are designed to pierce flesh but lack the power to penetrate even a thick coat, were unable to find purchase in the thick layers of leather and Kevlar they met. Hearing Evan's body adress him as a threat, followed by the sound of the tazer firing, Zack grimaced. "Those things have one shot, tin man, and now you've gotta get close to use it. And unfortunately for you, close is my specialty. If you get close, that is." Zack turned to face Evan's body as he spoke, glancing at Wellman over his shoulder. "Don't go anywhere, be right back." Zack raised his Glock and fired the rest of his clip at Evan's body, rapidly reloading and drawing his combat knife, ready should the machine still prove resistant.

Model Eleven's body was shredded by the hail of bullets. Model Eleven's code, however, was not done fighting. It ghosted out of the room and into the STAR Labs computer. A computer of this complexity would take a few seconds to take over.

Wellman was screaming in pain, but he screamed even louder when he saw Zack destroy the body. "How do you even expect us to put it back now?"

Evan considered the question. "He's right, Zack. I will need to find a new body. That round machine over there is what is keeping me stuck in here. If you can break it, then I can ghost out. My copy is probably trying to kill us right now. I'll need to fight him."

Meanwhile, Model Eleven Point One selected its weapon: a worm-hole generator.
