Pasts Are Never Pretty (HellBreaker)

XiFeng glared down at the stack of bills Yami had dumped on the table. Manly man never let her pay did he? It was sweet, true. If only her pride didn't get in the way. She smiled, and just shook it off as something distinctly and utterly Yami. No reason to get mean about it? XiFeng smiled down at Zee and booped his nose, picking up one of Yami's habits.

"Time to go home little monster." She cooed. Zee giggled.

( hmm...I have been playing Yami as a bit...forceful, haven't I? Sorry, XiFenfg.^^ They should be able to rely on one another, not have one look after the other.^^ )

Yami rubs the back of his head, realizing hed kind of stepped on XiFeng's toes. "Uhm, sorry...I just kinda...felt it was my fault....."The mage then smiles at XiFeng and Zee, then looks at her directly,raising a eyebrow."Sooooftyyy..." He chuckles, then hugs the both of them, relief taking over. They were safe....they were OK....He let's out a breath, then let's go, heading towards the door.

She could understand his need to control and protect right now especially. He had almost lost her and as prideful as it sounded, she liked to think that she mattered to him. If she didn't, Zee most certainly did. It was easy to recognize the parental gleam of love in his eyes. She had it in hers too. How was she ever going to return the child in her arms to his parents?

"Well, I get to be feminine every once in a while." She conceded. "Besides, I don't argue anymore when you pay for things."

(All characters have to make mistakes. It's how they stay interesting and seem like real people.)

Yami nods." OK....if I'm being too much, feel free to tell me." He looks back, snorting at the sight.She was such a doting mom....Oh, like you weren't the one to give him a whole bag of candy, wise guy? Remember that little incident? Giving his mental snarker a firm shut up, Yami walks to the doorway, peering outside.

(I totally get that! They are really cute.)

Maybe she would insist every now and then. There was nothing wrong with learning how to accept generosity though. She could learn this from Yami. He could complete her, help her overcome her flaws. XiFeng's face flamed red. That sounded like wanting more than a friendship. Which was true but...she didn't want to ruin what they had. He probably didn't like her anyways. Too many thoughts jumbled around in her head. She was glad Yami was standing in front of her, unable to see the blush and the body language that would obviously giver her away. XiFeng quickly composed herself before laying a hand on his shoulder.

"All clear Mr.Bond?" She teased.

Yami blinks, feeling a hand on his shoulder.Glancing back, he sees XiFeng, and raises an eyebrow at the teasing, speaking dryly."Hmm...it appears Ive become British, though I haven't had as many 'girlfreinds' as that guy has had....Anyways, yes, i t appears so." He steps outside, waiting till she and Zee are beside him, then grabs the door, leveraging up and pulling it into place, sighing. He was so tired of this day....The mage has had about enough..Yami was eager to get home, then relax.

XiFeng felt her back prickle in instinct. It was time to fly. She held Zee out for Yami to take with a little grin on her face. It was time to test out the new wings. See how they worked. After their last attempt to walk home flying seemed safer anyways. Besides, it was almost a challenge of fun at this point.

"Ready for a little bit of fun?"

Yami blinks, taking Zee with a slightly confusex mien. That is until he sees the grin on her face. Aaaah, he recognized that look....He sighs, then shrugs. It was what it was...When she asks if he was ready for some fun, the mage nods." Yah...why not?"

Letting her wings spring out, XiFeng noticed that they now had golden threads running through the feathers, accenting the tips. They were more beautiful than before but it was a sign she was closer to final death. She swallowed her dread, knowing that Yami would notice and they would need to address it. But that could happen later. For now, they were flying home in style.

She slipped her hands around Yami, hugging him from behind before beating her wings once, sending them up into the air with a powerful lift. Her wings had gotten stronger? That suited her just fine. Letting out a joyful giggle she began soaring through the air in gentle turns and twirls, accommodating for the three year old in Yami's arms.

Yami blinks, seeing her wings. Beautiful.... But then, he realizes what that change means, and frowns. This...this wasn't good...He decides to worry later, letting XiFeng carry them. Wow, impressive how much stronger they had gotten...He glances down at Zee. At first, the child had seemed frightened, but he was soon giggling and laughing from excitement.

Deciding not to prolong the flight considering the recent danger, XiFeng dropped them off in a back alley behind the apartment. Sure it was a great place to sneak up on them but she would rather not land in the middle of the street in broad daylight for everyone to gawk at. Besides, Yami would keep her safe.

Yami glances around cautiously, examining the area. He was getting sick of having to watch his own territory.... Just because of one price of scum. The mage walls over to thgedoor, holding it open."K....let's get inside. I'm done with this day."

XiFeng nodded, slipping Zee out of Yami's hold and into her own. For whatever reason, she just didn't want to put the child down. It was a protective instinct of course, and she had every belief that Yami would move the Earth to keep Zee safe but it still wasn't enough. The little guy was so young...innocent. He didn't deserve to be touched by the ugliness of the world yet. Sighing, she put him down, closing the apartment door behind her and locking it. Yami had said it best. She was tired of today.

Yami let's Zee go, walking in after them and watching as she locks down the door.He sighs. Too many close calls today..too many...Hed hadnt gotten how much he really cared for her till nowThe mage walks over to XiFeng, and then hugs her,as if to reassure himself one last time she was OK,she was there. He steps back, jerking up his scarf! and leads the way to their main room...
