Pasts Are Never Pretty (HellBreaker)

XiFeng watched Yami walk out ahead, looking every inch the doting father. He was a good head of the household. Stronger than she was, protective, providing, and someone who actually cared, unlike her father. It also helped that he was very attractive. Her face exploded into a blush. Had she just thought that? Nope. Nope she didn't. XiFeng tried burning those thoughts from the record in her mind with all her might, not paying attention to where she was going or who was around them. So really she shouldn't have been surprised when she felt a slight pinch in the back of her neck and realized that she had just been shot with a dart probably full of drugs when she pulled out a small needle attatched to a medicine chamber and looked at it.

"Yami." Her words came out slurred and she giggled, feeling a little...drunk? No that couldn't be right. She didn't drink? Why were there mushrooms growing on that street sign?

Yami smiles down at the sleeping child in his arms. Huh, he really was getting soft. Hearing XiFeng speak, the mage furrows his brow. She sounded funny....The mage turns around, looking at her, and spots the glint of a needle. A dart?!? Cursing, he Hurry's over, looking for places he could defend them at....Spotting a nearby doorway, Yami tries to guide them over, setting both down gently as he forms a sword. No way in hell was he playing nice this time around.

XiFeng's eyes widened as Yami formed a sword. It was so pretty! She squealed in delight, leaning over him to pet the sword unaware and uncaring of what body parts pushed against him, she wanted to pet that sword. Zee looked up at them fearfully. He didn't quite understand what was going on. XiFeng laughed again. Silly Zee. There was nothing to worry about! Didn't he see the unicorn behind him? Surely that would keep them all safe.

Two men in comically cliché black suits exited the alleyway, pressing a finger to their earpieces and the other hands clutching two pistols with silencers on them. They surveyed the alleyway, looking for XiFeng and Yami.

Yami blinks Xifeng leans to pet his sword, and reddens as he feels a certain area press against him. Clearing his throat, the mage gently sits her back down." Xifeng, you're currently under the influence under a drug, delivered by dart...Please stay seated here and keep an eye on Zee." He looks at Zee, smiling and ruffling the toddlers hair." Its OK, kiddo. XiFengs just a little silly at the moment...Shell be fine. I have to go talk to someone real quick, OK?" He strides toward the alley, forming Claws on his hand. Seeing the men, he rushes, and was on them. The blade whirls up, coming to rest on ones neck, while the claws grip the others throat." You have a handful of seconds to tell me who, why, and where and when I can find them.....now.

Both men stay silent, both dropping their guns on the ground and staring in stony silence at Yami. Neither say anything or move. Instead a small trickle of blood runs from their mouths, as both men suddenly stumbles and fall back. Their glasses fly off when both hit the ground, showing glassy dead eyes. Suddenly a shrieks sounds from behind as a man picks up XiFeng and she laughs hard, finding the whole situation amusing. Seriously who even kidnapped young girls in skirts anymore? Zee was crying tugging at the kidnappers pants but the man paid no attention as the started sprinting down the alley with XiFeng over his shoulder.

Yami blinks, then curses as the men drop.Dead....suicide pills?He looks up, hearing a shreik.....XIFENG AND ZEE!!!He rushes back, thinking quickly, before grabbing Zee, busting the door of XiFeng's friends house down." Xifeng, trouble, look after him!!" He gives the boy a reassuring pat,then runs out, chasing after.

JiShu stared in horror down at the child who was within minutes returned to her home.

XiFeng shrieked laughter and giggled harder than she had ever done in her life. This was just so funny! Big brawny man kidnap girl and take back to cave. Like a caveman! Her laughter doubled until tears dripped of her eyes. Oh no she was crying. That meant she was sad now. The laughter turned into sobs. Now she was sad. Where was her unicorn? Where was Yami?

"Put me down." She hiccupped to the big man.

He grunted, readjusting her over his shoulder and running faster. She wailed at the top of her lungs, drawing a lot of attention from pedestrians. He didn't stop. So instead she balled her fists and started pounding them against his back. Hmmm...it didn't slow him down. She bit him in the ear. The man cursed and delivered a swift punch to her temple that left her dizzy. Oooooh the world was all tilty now! That was funny! She began laughing again.

Yami grunts, picking up the pace, soon catching up enough to spot them. Seeing the man punch Xifeng, he falters, but then continues, his eyes practically glowing with a unholy wrath.Breath seeped out from behind his scarf, and if the man were to look behind him, he'd find the terrifying site of a practically demonic cloth mage fast approaching."The more you run, the more I'll punish you,worm!!!!"

The man looks back and curses, doubling his pace, taking unconventional routes, jumping over cars and scaling fences. He was obviously a professional if he could do these stunts with a young girl over his shoulder. XiFeng looked up over her shoulder and saw Yami. Yami! She cried in glee and waved hi to him excitedly.

"Hi Yami! I see you! We're playing tag!" She announced.

Yami tches as the man begins to take unconventional routes. Did he really think that'd stop him? The mage follows suit, using his still activated Talons to aid in wall running. He waves at XiFeng." Yes we are, and I think I'm Bout to win!!"Yami pulls out a brick, sending it hissing towards the mans feet as he lands.

"Yay!" XiFeng cheered. Go Yami!

The brick hit the man squarely in the back of the ankle, causing him to pitch over face first. He hit the ground hard, sending XiFeng flying off his shoulder and skidding across the ground. Her head smacked squarely against the wall as it stopped her tumble, sounding out a sickening crack and she fell to the ground unmoving. The man jumped up off the ground in a well practiced martial arts move and continued to run.

Yami nods, then pales as XiFeng smashes into the wall. Ignoring the man except for another thrown brick, he runs over to the girl."XiFeng!! XiFeng!!!!!Nonononononono!!!Please don't....don't leave me..." He anxiously looks over her, kneeling down. He was a complete and utter idiot....He should have been more careful..."I don't want you to leave!"

The man grunts as the brick smashes into his ribcage, probably breaking it, but it was better than being caught. So he kept running. XiFeng was limp on the ground. It was very easy for Pheonix's to get hurt. They had hollow bones and low muscle mass to make sure they were light enough to fly. A regular punch could break a bone. At the same token, Phoenix's had, according to myth, 1000 lives. But Yami didn't know that. And XiFeng wasn't breathing. Her head lolled back when Yami touched her, revealing a large spot of red, running blood. It looked very nasty in terms of a wound.

Yami touches the limp form, then grabs her up, holding XiFeng close. Then he, seeing the wound, begins to breath in and out rapidly, flashing back to the events that started him on his path....He shakes his head. Nonononono...." Don't do this to me, don't don't don't don't..." He hugs her,beginning to shake. He didn't want to be alone again....What should he do, what should he do?!!

Her body began the glimmer, trails of gold pulsing underneath her skin as it slowly turned to ash, as all Phoenix's did when they died. Slowly, she began to slip away. Her feet and fingers started to wither away, crumbling into ash underneath the small gold glittering. It traveled further, encompassing her entire body until she was nothing but ash in Yami's arms. Soon, she would b reborn.
