New and Lost(open)

Matt ate a handful of M&M's while smiling to himself as he crossed the bridge into the city, he'd finally made his way here but his smile quickly faded, this was just another city right? There was no reason to assume something special was here, he could just as easily be on his way to somewhere else in a couple weeks. He sighed, hoping that this place could be a destination, that something here would change things but he wasn't going to fool himself. He glanced at the Teen Titans tower, that was why he was here, he'd heard those people had attracted more people like himself and he might be able to learn something. His goal was a stretch but it was better then nothing, he'd look into it more later but for now he'd have to find a place to settle down and look for some way to earn some money.

The young man made his way down the street, keeping an eye out for a cheap motel or an opportunity to earn some money. He'd spend a few hours wondering the streets while he depleted most of his candy stash, while he had recalled finding a few motels he'd come up short on a means to make some cash. Eventually deciding to call it a night he'd started to make his way back to a motel, a long walk and a few turns later he'd concluded it was taking him longer then expected, he hadn't run into a single motel on his way back and worse yet the buildings here didn't look like anything he remembered, it appeared like he's taken a wrong turn somewhere and wondered into a slum of sorts. He glanced up with a sigh, it was starting to get dark, not that he expected people to bother him but he'd like to find his way to a bed soon.

"Hey buddy!" A voice called out from a motel across the street from Matt. There, a young girl stood in the doorway waving her hand at him. "You lost? Need a place to stay?" The girl kept waving from the doorway at the dingy slum motel. "Come on in, we have really really good rates," she hollered.

The motel was pretty beat up and shady looking, not even a neon sign to attract customers on the outside, but the girl at the entrance of it didn't look like a shifty character or anything of the sort. She was a bright red head in an autumn green modest dress. The freckles on her face were visible even from across the street. "I can tell you're from out of town," she said. "Come on, it's gonna get dark soon and his isn't a good neighborhood."

Matt took in the sight of the girl as she'd attempted to wave him down before quickly taking stock: just a couple chocolate bars and a bag of sour patch kids left. Cheap was his style but even he'd normally have some standards, still he stood up and nodded before making his way over. He was starting to run out of food and even this place should have something. He'd finally answer upon getting closer. "I'm not lost, need somewhere in mind to be lost." He'd half lie as he looked down at the girl, he'd consider her fairly plain but still cute enough. He was for sure lost and had no idea where he was going but it was also true that aside somewhere to sleep he wasn't really looking for something, maybe a bit of a stretch but he was kinda into the whole red hair thing, he was probably trying a little too hard to look cool. "I'm actually interested in something to eat to, can this place do anything about meals or sell snacks. Oh, or a gym, that would be a bonus."

The girl bit her lip in reaction to the male approaching her. "We'll see what we can do about some food," she said while unconsciously eying Matt up and down. "those muscles look like they gotta eat."

She brushed her hair back while stepping aside for him to enter. "And maybe a workout too...if you're lucky." She let the last comment linger in the air.

"I guess you could say you're lucky already, there's exactly one vacancy and since we've met our quota for the night you can have it for free. I may even stay up and fill you in on big city living." The sensual tone of her voice made the intention behind her words unmistakably clear. The inside of the motel lobby had some stairs leading up to the other floors - surprisingly no elevators. The room was also candle lit. There were electric lamps but none of them were on. If that wasn't enough to make any passerby think twice about seeking shelter here the cobb webs lurking all about, coupled with the creaky floorboards, made sure that this particular residence wouldn't even make it to a 2 star yelp review.

Matt was wearing a grin while she spoke, he had noticed her eyeing him up and it seemed the she liked what she saw, it was made pretty clear that he didn't mind. He had thought he stopped a reasonable distance from her, more to keep from frightening her but as stopped paying attention to her for a moment he'd noticed he'd closed the gap, still further then she could reach him but with little more than a half step he'd be able to lean down and touch her. He wasn't sure what her game was but if she had stopped at the workout he'd have likely already leaned in for his shot, but something had stopped him.

He had reached back for his wallet as the girl had told him that the room was free, last one too. His wallet was in his front pocket, harder to steal, it wasn't his wallet he was looking for as he almost shook his head, he could still remember the cold of the steel, he had just checked his knives. Why? She had offered him a gift and had planned to teach him city living. Nothing here was free, was that the red flag. "What's the deal?" He had almost stepped himself back upon consciously coming to the conclusion but this little girl wasn't a threat, not on her own anyway. "I know city life, free has strings attached." He had pulled himself out enough to start taking in his surroundings but he hadn't had the time to think anything out of place, to his own discomfort he had started playing around with the idea that she was just into him, but why was it uncomfortable and why was something in the back of his mind telling him he should be in fight mode?

She giggled at his hesitation. "Well there is one catch," she said as she blew out the candles one after the other. "You should meet the land lord." She blew out candle after candle but the issue with her actions were...it wasn't bright in the lobby at all. In fact blowing out the candles were making things pitch dark in the room. The darker it got the more the floorboards began to creek, seemingly on their own. Something was in the room. If Matt tried to look through the darkness he would catch neither a movement or a figure but the young girl. However, should he turn and try to leave the lobby he would find his path blocked by an individual that had suddenly appeared out of the darkness while Matt was focused on the young flirty girl - only those with super senses would've seen him coming.

"Thank you Melissa," said a rogue voice belonging to the hooded figure in the doorway. "you've done your part."

The young girl's demeanor changed entirely. Her flirtatious tone turned to straight fear and cowardice as she dropped to her knees and began to shake. "RUN!....please, PLEASE run," Melissa said. "He's he's not human, he's--HE'S A MONSTER! WHy...Why did I bring you in here? He killed everyone upstairs!" The young woman began to sob.

"Please, there's no need for name calling," the male said and removed his food revealing blonde hair so light it was nearly white, a flawless complexion, and eyes like a predator. "You were under my mind compulsion, this was no fault of your own i assure you." The blonde man smirked. "My name is Mr. Sinclair, the lord of this domain."

Matt had taken off his glasses as the woman had started to blow out the candles, unknown to his hunter the lack of affect the darkness would have, perhaps a slight bonus since he wouldn't have any risk of becoming blinded. As the man chimed in he'd turn and watch him while he spoke, perhaps blowing his only shot at surprising the man but he didn't look in his general direction like one might expect but rather he scanned his body and watched his mouth as it moved before looking down the man eye to eye, he stopped himself after an immediate a half step to the stairs with his eyes instantly fixed on them, he should run.

His thought caught him off guard but this guy was faster than he was, he was sure of that without any need for display. He glances back to the girl, he could run up the stairs and just jump out of a window while he dealt with her, it wouldn't be likely that he's be able to just follow him, solid enough plan B. "I am Matthew Nicholson." He acknowledged the man with a nod of his head before he'd continue, he wasn't sure what he was capable of but mentally he'd respect this man as an equal, nothing better. "I believe we have a misunderstanding, I would simply like to walk out of that door you're standing in front of and be on my way."
