In the light of the red moon

Pulling the car around the block, Black Jack checked rear view. Yep, he had lost his pursuers, or at least he had for now. Sadly for Black Jack, so caught up in his looking for police that he nearly missed the incoming car that was speeding at him at a rather unreasonable speed, or at least was his perception since it was in his lane coming straight at him and he was still going about 85 miles per hour.

"Oh shi-" was all he could say before his car and the other slammed into one another, the fronts crunching, and glass shattering as Black Jack found himself flying airborne straight through his windshield. For a moment Black Jack felt as though he could fly, soaring through the air like a bird, a plane, like SUPER MA-!!!

Once again Black Jack's thoughts were cut off as he slammed face first into the concrete and then bounced off like some morbid kind of bouncy ball, as the armored man became a bouncing jumbling of human parts that were most assuredly breaking and snapping from the impact despite the obvious shielding qualities of his equipment. His armor was so well built as a matter of fact, that it held the parts in, becoming more akin to a sack with various things poking out towards it, than armor.

Black Jack's time tumbling didn't actually stop until he came to halt about 15 feet away from wear Mr. Pacific and Kunoichi were having their conversation, halted by a wet snapping noise as the mercenaries head was twisted about in an almost cruel mockery of the exorcist. Needless to say, to the casual observer, Black Jack, for all intents and purposes, was dead.

Kunoichi stood horrified as a disassembled body came flying and landed right in front of them head backwards and the body jacked up.
She screamed as she jumped behind Mr. Pacific. She looked over his shoulder at the screwed up body, "Is it dead?"

Mr. Pacific was too shocked to react as a body came flying out of a car crash and landed in a rather morbid-looking heap in front of them. Was this really happening?

"I'll check. You tie up that ferret-thing so that it doesn't get loose again. We'll find a place to let it loose so it can't hurt anyone."

Mercutio knew basic aid like the back of his hand, but injurries on this level were beyond his help. They were probably beyond the Mayo Clinic's help. Still, he had to try.

Broken bones, broken organs, broken...everything. Mercutio almost vomited at the sight of it, but he held it in. It was dishonorable to vomit on a corpse.

Standing, Mr. Pacific realized that he did not have a cell phone on him. That was a true mistake. How was he supposed to call 911 when he was a superhero?

He turned back to Kunoichi. "I think dead would be the polite way to say it."

There was only one word in the entirety of Black Jack's mind, it filled his subconscious and then his conscious as he slowly drifted back to the rest of the world, "Oowww..." it resonated through his whole being. A sharp and very acute pain that was ever the more acute as he could feel himself slowly being stitched back together from the inside out.

Bones being put back together, the soft tissues being knitted back and being pulled back into place as though a tailor were carefully repairing the pieces of a damaged puppet. The blood that had begun to seep out onto the concrete was being replaced as platelet factories were stimulated, being pushed into over drive. Skin that had hemorrhaged from the impacts stictched back together, and finally joints rejoined and muscle reformed, as movement was granted back to the armored mercenary.
Well, that is movement in his left arm, and sort in his legs, more his hips than his leg, but it was there none the less.

Black Jack twitched his left hand, feeling the connection to his limb. As he opened his eyes, Black Jack realized something that both simultaneously amused him and scared the crap out of, he could see his back. "Aw crap at least my brain works." Was all the merc could say as he sat up, which once again brought a tinge of amusement and revulsion to him as he realized the brain stem and the spinal column had begun to repair themselves in the incorrect fashion. However, sadly for the merc and whoever was closest to him, merely heard a groaning followed by a mumbling which was accompanied by a rather wheezy and liquid sounding "bRAinnnnn..." which thanks to the still crushed wind pipe yielded itself towards having a rather interesting sounding hissing noise at the end of it making the word sound less like "Brain" and more like "bRAiNssss..."

Nikki was starting to come to again, and luckily didn't feel the need to rush off in a frenzy and attack every one. She slowly stood and shook her massive head, almost falling off her feet. She blinked several times to clear her vision only to see a person with a backward turned head. Her eyes widened and She lifted herself up on her hind legs, standing her full 6 feet. She wondered if her vision was correct cuz she swore she saw two people now instead of just one, and if you included the mutilated guy, she was positive her vision was messed up.
Nikki didn't feel the effects of the red moon and looked up to see the moon hidden behind a dense layer of clouds. She sighed, at least she could stay calm for a little bit. She couldn't transform back and she couldn't speak, so she was a little worried that these guys would try attacking her again.

What was happening? It looked like the dead man was being put back together again. Mr. Pacific tried to run away from the moving corpse, but tripped on a stray rock and fell over. He quickly scrambled away, not even bothering to stand up.

This was not what he had been expecting. First giant animals and now...this!?!

Brains? Was this thing a zombie?

"Run Kunoichi! It's a zombie!"

Kunoichi stopped as she saw the ferret slowly get up and shake it's head.
"It's okay I don't want to hurt you." she froze again as she heard snapping and weird grinding noises behind her. "Brainnsss." she turned to see the body, who she thought was dead, sit up.
Her eyes widened again, she tried to stay calm seeing how she still had to deal with the huge ferret.

"Run Kunoichi! It's a zombie!"She heard Mr. Pacific yell.
She took a step away from the disassembled body that apparently was coming back to life. 'Should she run' she thought to herself.

Everyone seemed to be frozen in place, even the monster ferret. Mr. Pacific decided to break the silence. Pulling out his nun-chucks, he stood his ground and yelled at the zombie.

"Go away! I don't want to hurt you!"

After surviving a car crash like that, it was unlikely that this thing could be harmed by Mr. Pacific at all. Nevertheless, he had to try.

Nikki Got back down on all fours and snarled at the zombie. She had seen enough zombie movies were they had left the animals alone for whatever reason, so she hoped this one would be similar. But she also wanted to show she could be trusted.... kinda. She felt a tingling in the back of her skull and knew she was going to go feral again soon. She shook her head trying to fight it but soon she couldn't help it. She roared loudly at the zombie person and charged him. Right at the last minute Nikki jumped clean over him and took off down the street again. She stopped and rose up on her back legs and roared loudly at the sky then dropped back down again. She looked around and saw a silver convertible car with its head lights still on and the top down, though there wasn't any one in it. She made a purring sound and sniffed the car then decided it was a good play toy. She began chewing on the front bumper and scratching on the hood. The metal crunched under the power of her jaws and the hood screamed as her claws dug deep slashes into it. She then jumped up into the car and the alarm went off. She growled at it and hissed the dug her teeth into the drivers seat. she purred as the clothe tore and stuffing came out. She clawed the radio and it suddenly came on. Loud rock music blasted out. She growled and started tearing out a speaker.
The giant ferret had just found an amazingly fun toy that made all kinds of noise and was fun to chew on.

"Dang it!" Kunoichi yelled as the ferret went after someone's car. Luckily there was no one in it. She looked at the zombie and wondered why it just sat there and didn't come after them.
She turned her attention to Mr. Pacific. "Can you handle the zombie while I go after the ferret again."

Great. Now the ferret was on the loose again. That gave Mr. Pacific 2 problems to deal with.

"Yes. I'll deal with this one. You take care of our four-legged friend."

With the mace still affecting the ferret's eyes, Mr. Pacific was sure that Kunoichi could handle it. He waited for the zombie to move.

Black Jack grimaced to himself underneath the reflective face plate of his helmet, he wasn't looking forward to what came next. Placing his left hand on the bump protruding from his right arm, he forced the broken bone back into place, with a growl and a wet sucking noise as the bone popped back inside the skin, finding its proper resting place. Once the bone was inside, the nanites instantly began reconstituting the calcium into usable material that could be used to mend the bones as they had never broken. The skin sealed up as well, coming together like it had never been apart.

The next step was literally doing what he needed to so that he could. Feeling along his legs, Black Jack forced those bones back into place as well, these however were a bit harder, and required effort to push and place. Effort that due Black Jack not actually being able to see what he was doing actually found that the bones made harsh grating noises like two bricks being forcefully rubbed against one another. It was irritating at best, vomit inducing at its worst. Soon that dirty work was done as well, and a few moments later, Black Jack, slowly and unsuredly, with the wobbliness that came from not having ones balance, stood up.

"Great," thought Black Jack as he stood up and made his barings finally. After all, he had completely missed the giant ferret and kunoichi earlier, despite their shouting and growling. Now, he saw the wannabe hero, Mr. Pacific. Black Jack held up his hand, indicating for the very excited and nervous person to give him a moment. As though this were an every day occurrence that neither bothered nor disturbed the mercenary, As though he were trying to say,"Sorry about finding me in this awkward position, I'll be with you in one moment." And then, without hesitation or waiting for a reply from the would be super hero, Black Jack placed both of his hands on opposite sides of his head and pulled.

Twisting the head around and back to front with the sound of freshly mended bone snapping, and sinews breaking, making a rattling and chirping noise, like some kind of demented children's toy as it made it's way back to front, where it faced forward. And with that motion, once again Black Jack fell forwards, this time flat on his face, as once again the world went dark around him.

Mr. Pacific could feel his mind exploding. He did not understand anything that was happening now.

"Did ...the zombie just...kill...itself?"

He had to admit, it was acting very strangely for a zombie. It had noticed him and made an intentional hand guesture. It seemed almost human.

Almost, but not quite. This man had to be a meta-human of some sort. A very powerful sort. Mr. Pacific was certain at this point that the man was not dead at all. He must have some wierd kind of healing power.

The meta had no ill intentions for either Mr. Pacific or Kunoichi. It seemed that he was not a theat. Mr. Pacific decided to go help Kunoichi with the giant ferret. He started running over to where they were.

Kunoichi pulled out her other chain and started twirling it over her head. She threw the side with the loop over the ferrets head like a leash and tied the other end to a thick metal light post, as the ferret was still distracted with the car. She decided the best was to let it have it's fun the car rather than people or the town itself. She looked up at the lunar eclipse to see the moon slowly come back to it's natural color as the red faded.
" Aw the lunar eclipse is ending and I didn't even get to enjoy it." she said as she saw Mr. Pacific come her way. "Wait what about the zombie?"

Black Jack blinked as he found himself face down on the cement. For a moment, he couldn't remember how he got there, as he sat up and rubbed the back of his head. That was when it hit him, everything that had happened and what took place. "Grrr, stupid driver's must of been an asian. But meh, if I died twice getting put back together, I doubt they're in any better condition, so that's me-1 Jump City- 0."

Black Jack chuckled at that, that was when he noticed two things as he looked around, one the guy that he had waved at earlier was now on the other side of the street heading towards what looked like some giant monster that was gnawing away at a car like it was a chew toy, and two he could see red and blue's in the distance, and here the chopping of helicopter blades that barely carried down to him on the twisting breeze of the downtown area. "Heh, either they're more persistent than I thought, or they're after the giant frenzied critter over there. My money's on..." Black Jack paused looking around himself surveying the damage that the fur ball had caused, "on the critter." Black Jack came to the conclusion with a certain amount of certainty, because he didn't care who was chasing him, when Black Jack wanted to disappear, he disappeared. It was that simple.

Kicking up his heels with another quick look at his wrecked care, Black Jack caught up to the guy he had motioned to earlier, and found himself looking on with slight bemusement at the site of the little ninja girl that was attempting to hold the beast by anchoring it to the light pole while it played with the car. "Hey, judging by the fact that you aren't currently standing over a furry corpse I take it you guys don't want to kill this beastie. If that's the case, then I suggest you get a move on with your new pet 'cause the cops are on their way and odds are they have an extra-large needle filled with one way trip to doggy heaven for your friend there."
