Enter the Batting Cage (Remiel and Titans)

Jump City University. A generally peaceful place, save the occasional fraternity prank. Today, things were far more chaotic. A young man was roaming the area within, clearing a path of screaming students, desperate to get away. The reason was because outside of shape, nothing would suggest the form moving through the campus was remotely human. It was a twisting and warping mass of what looked like thick chain link fence, given human shape. With a flick of his hand, wire shot out and broke up some of the ground in front of him.

Of course, the titans were on the way. But who would protect the college in the meantime.

Thus far, Remi's day had been unexciting, compiled of three long classes and a yet to be completed batting-practice. She was about one-third of the way through her practice with swinging, though while the other members practiced swinging harder, she was practicing the art of holding back her swings, which she had almost mastered by this point.

Her life was beginning to feel painfully monotonous, and she once again questioned silently why she bothered acting normal. She was deep in thought, still swinging for the pitches that came her way when all of a sudden she realized that she was swinging at nothing. Remi refocused her gaze on the girl who had been pitching to her, and realized the whole team was frozen in shock and staring towards the quad that was not too far from their field.

A few of the girls turned tail and darted off towards the closest building, while Remi tried to figure out what the heck that... thing... was.

Shaking her head, she realized that this was her chance to break the day's monotony. The blonde broke into a run towards the creature, gripping her bat tightly. She hoped that it wouldn't smash on impact, but even if it did, she had to do something until help came.

"Hey, weak-link, over here!" She silently praised her own pun as she waved her arms at the creature, hoping to get it's attention.

The head of the wire monster turned, almost fluidly around it's shoulders and gazer right at the girl, it's shifting face betraying no expression. It held both hands up and pointed them at her. With a loud schreeching din, a couple intertwining strands of wire shot from it's hands at her. Before they could even get close, a saw blade sliced through both of them before yo-yo-ing back towards the quad's maintenance shack. Leaning against the shack was Hotwire.

"Hey Barbed-Wire" He yelled at the beast. Attached to his hand was what looked like an amalgamation of lawn care implements like a hedge trimmer, and the table saw inside was in pieces. It looked like he had made some sort of saw blade yo-yo launched. He just kept coming up with new ones didn't he?  "There's only room in jump city for one guy with 'wire' in his name. And I have the notoriety so..." He said before pointing out at it.


"Titans! Go!"

She tensed her muscles and prepared herself to take the hit after her bat inevitably broke. She held the bat in a defensive position, prepared to lash out, but instead found that the attack was stopped cold. Remi turned her head, blonde hair shifting about her shoulders as she tried to focus on the source of the defensive move. It didn't take long to spot a male leaning against the Quad's general equipment shed, and it looked like the hero -- or she assumed he was a hero -- had jerryrigged an impressive weapon from its contents.

Feeling relieved that she had some backup, and less hesitant now that the Quad had basically emptied out of students, she brought back a leg and took a braced position, drawing in a long breath before she pushed off, hoping to catch the creature off guard. She didn't want to be some damsel, after all. "Hyyaaah!" She called as she attempted to swing downwards and hit the creatures 'head' with her bat.

She realized mid-swing that there may be others moving to help. He had said Titans, right? Her heart soared with excitement.

Alongside the team leader was one of the most loyal members of the Titans, Metamorphi. He had been at the tower, chilling with Hotwire, when they heard about the monster at the university. They arrived together, and Meta observed the situation while Hotwire made his saw weapon, it seemed like there was a girl there who was trying to pick a fight with the monster. She may have been a metahuman, but there seemed to be nothing special about her, except for a wooden bat. She was going to get herself killed.

When Hotwire said Titans go, he would go in, as if to tackle the monster. At the last moment before ramming right into it, he would leap at it and turn into steel, using his own body as a human bullet. He had timed the attack so that he would get there before the girl.

Steel on steel. That was good. It at least serviced to knock Barbed Wire back a couple of feet. "Metamorphi. Barbed Wire is made out of steel. I'd suggest some type of titanium alloy, or similarly hard metal from now on." He said. He probably should have noted it first, but Metamorphi's first attack did enough damage. Now he would have to...

"Whoa." Hotwire said. As bared wire fell back, the girl he had saved hit their enemy with a baseball bat. Of course, the bat shattered upon striking the thing, but the impact definitely staggered Barbed Wire. No time to question it. That was a civilian there, and they had to get her out of harm's way.

Before she could make full contact, another Titan leaped in front of her, catching the creature with an effective blow, but not effective enough it seem. She struck, and her bat splintered into a shambled mess. She pushed off and stumbled back a few feet, hearing the first male that had arrived give some advice in passing for the next attack.

Once she'd settled a few feet back, she assumed a fighting stance, watching carefully to see what would happen next. If she could throw a punch at the right time, it could help give them the upper hand.

The attack struck true, sending the monster back a few metres. It didn't seem to do too much damage though, which was disappointing. Hotwire then said that he should change into Titanium or something like that instead, since Barbed Wire is also made of steel, Meta nodded to let Hotwire know that he understood.

He then saw the girl smack the monster, dealing quite considerate damage. Looks like she wasn't just an innocent civillian after all. Although, he noted her poor choice of weapon You should use a metal bat next time. He then turned to Harmon Have you got a plan, or should we just rush it?

Harmon usually wasn't one to rush into a situation. But hey, that was what Metamorphi was best at. He gave metamorphi one of the titan hand signals that just meant "Go nuts."

He whirred up his saw hand and rushed in as well. The creature brought down a whip of barbed wire onto Hotwire, only for him to cut it in two. This would give both Meta and Remi an opening.

"No kidding?" she quipped in return to 'Metamorphi.' "Didn't exactly come to classes today expecting a fight." Remi almost laughed. She stood back to take stock of the situation at hand, her eyes narrowing carefully. The red haired male gave the other titan a signal, and although she had no clue of what it meant, she assumed it would mean something to Metamorphi. She glanced aside at Meta and then looked at Hotwire.

He had blocked an attack effectively, leaving an opening in the creature's defenses for a moment. Balling up her fists, Remiel took the opportunity to rush forward at the enemy. She knew her body could handle the blunt impact of a strike, so she opted to act as a 'tank' so to speak. Once she was in range, she took a powerful leap, throwing her shoulder into the barbed wire creature with a tense expression, bracing her body.

The girl raised the excellent point that she hadn't been expecting to fight today, so thus hadn't been properly prepared for one. Hotwire then gave him a signal, telling him to go nuts. Meta gave him a smirk, then focused on the enemy as Hotwire gave them an opening. He rushed in at the same moment as the girl, repeating his earlier attack when he used himself as a human missile except now he turned into titanium, striking at the same time as the girl. He was a Titan, he was used to synchronising with a partner.
