The Darkest Night (Izzy) [EG]

After asking how long it would be, the answers varies from 'As soon as possible' to 'Maybe an hour'. Those were mostly to keep her optimistic she supposed. Next thing she knew 'as soon as possible' turned into minutes, which turned into an hour.... 2 hours... 3 hours... 4 hours... 5 hours... 6 hours.... 7 hours.. 8 hours.... and Garnet still didn't have any news. The gem sat aggressively in the waiting room seat, not even flinching the entire time. People were staring at her like she was crazy, the doctors constantly offering her food and water which she waved them away.
It was early next morning before someone coming out saying they had news. The Titan practically jumped out of her seat, making her way over to the girl briskly. Garnet was utterly exhausted, if she didn't have her glasses on people would be able to see the bags under eyes, it was rare for the gem to be exhausted. "Yes? Please tell me she's okay."

The doctor gave a friendly smile to Garnet, trying to reassure the girl. It was hard to say someone was okay when they'd been dead for several minutes in the night... but, the doctors job was to try. "She's through the worst of it. She has to stay in the ICU. She'll be asleep for a while. She gave us quite a scare there, but the girl is stronger than anyone I've ever seen. She should have died before she even got here, to put her wounds in perspective. Come with me."

The doctor that spoke waved the other two away. Hopefully to get them some rest. Then she lead Garnet back into the area where they kept watch on critical patients.
"We've done several transfusions, but she'd lost a lot of blood. That kind of shock will take a long time to recover from. I understand that she has a rather inherently dangerous job. All you Titans do... but she's young. She needs to understand that she's not invincible. No matter what her powers may make her feel."

They'd get to the area Suzuki was in. It wasn't a room, but she was in a bed and there were doctors all over walking around and checking on the patients.
"We're keeping her here until we decide she's on the road to recovery. You're welcome to stay with her, but I doubt she'll be awake any time soon."

The doctor would show Garnet the chair before leaving. It was a busy night, it seemed.

The anxiety was killing her... or anticipation... whatever it didn't matter. What mattered was Suzuki's safety, and from the look on the doctors face he was uncertain. However, when he first opened his mouth, Garnet let out a huge sigh of relief. It was like she was holding her breath the entire 8 hours of being there, and her head was finally coming back down from cloud 9. It was a surreal moment, and before she knew it she was being whisked away towards Suzuki.
The doctor told the Titan how much blood she lost and that she needed to be more careful, despite her dangerous job. Garnet chuckled at that "It seems to be a theme here.." She mused, thinking of all the self destructive behavior going on lately. When he told her that she needed to give her a talk, all Garnet did was nod her head and finally took a seat. He said that she wouldn't be awake any time soon, but knowing Suzuki it wouldn't be too long before she was up and trying to run around again.

The Gem sat and looked at the sleeping Suzuki, letting out a sigh. Her face was drained of color, but she looked so much better than last night. Seeing her like this brought painful flash backs, and she even had to take a few moments to calm herself before something happened. However, she remained as a fusion and closed her eyes, waiting for Suzuki to wake up, even if that was a few days.

Despite what the doctor said, it'd only be a few hours before a cough would come from the sleeping Suzuki. The cough was quickly interrupted by a gasp as a blinding pain hit the raven haired hospital patient. Her eyes opened wide, and she found herself surveying the room with a sense of panic. She remembered the fight, then pain... then flashes of her waking up during a surgery?

After scanning the room with her wide panicked eyes, she spotted Garnet and relaxed a bit. "G-Garnet..?"

Gods, even just talking hurt incredibly bad.

After only a few hours of waiting, Suzuki finally coughed and gasped, looking around panicked. Garnet was carefully moving to her side as she spoke, just in case she accidentally scarred the poor girl. The Titan could hear the straining in her voice, how it must hurt to even talk at this point. It broke her heart to see her like this, but at the same time she could never be more happy. "Don't speak right now, you'll strain yourself." Garnet told the girl, crossing her arms and leaning back. She felt like a weight was lifted off her shoulders, now that Suzuki was awake and able to talk again. "I don't know what the doctors want me to tell you, and I really don't care. You went out on a parole around the same time I did, and sent out an SOS to all Titans. By the time I got there you had a hole in your side and you almost died right there." The Titan explained so there wouldn't be any confusion. "When I got you to the hospital, you passed out, but fought every second. Now you are here, waiting to see when the doctors will let you back to the tower." She finished, hoping that cleared up any of Suzuki's questions so she didn't have to speak.
"Now... You really need to stop pushing yourself... I see it all the time, and don't act like you don't. I'm not sure what happened on your mission, but whatever did happen, it's okay to realize that you need help. Needing help does not mean you're weak, it means you're stronger than anyone to be able to come to understand this." She explained gently, smiling towards Suzuki. "But... I am so proud of you... We... are so proud of you.. You are such a fighter Suzuki." The gem finished, giving her a thumbs up.

Garnet was quick to reassure Suzuki, making the younger girl relax a bit. To be honest, Suzuki found that it was hard to even listen to Garnet explain what happened. She caught bits and pieces and her scattered memory filled in the gaps. She'd almost died... to the enemy that threatened her family! Suzuki would try to sit of, only to groan in pain as her eyes filled with tears.

"Have... to go..." She said weakly. There was no way Suzuki was getting up anytime soon.

In fact, after the bold attempt to sit up then talk, her eyes slipped back shut as she passed out.

Before she knew, Suzuki tried to get up which followed by her passing out. Garnet let out a sigh, she told her not to move and that was why. It wouldn't be too long until the doctors came in and gave an update. Personally, the gem just wanted to move her back to the Tower where she could monitor her more frequently. But with Suzuki pushing herself still, it might take longer.
Garnet leaned back, and waited, ignoring those who walked up to her.
