The Sound of Silence (Voracious)

Kyoshi sighed in obvious relief, shaking her head with a soft smile. She held up five fingers to hopefully let him know that she needed to be home at five. Realizing quickly that holding up fingers probably wasn't the easiest thing to deduce from, she began to write again. -Have to be home by 5.- She smiled gently up to him. And then thought of something. The girl bit her lip and blushed lightly, writing something else. -But I can leave now if you want.-

Hopefully he read that with the right connotation. It was really difficult to elicit influxes within the sentence when it's written out. But her eyes were still sweet, so maybe he could read her body language along with the words and realize that she really didn't want to leave quite yet. It was nice to have someone that seemed to be patient enough to deal with her writing everything down.

He watched her as she held up five fingers. What on earth could that have meant? But then she clarified by writing it down, and said that she had to be home by five. He nodded a little.

"I mean...I don't really care if you stay or not. Did you want to do anything?" he said, trying to act bored. Deep down he liked her. Not romantically or anything; that'd be weird. But he wouldn't mind having her as a friend.

Kyoshi blinked and blushed a little, shrugging when he asked if she wanted to do anything. In all honesty, the only thing she wanted to do was to stay away from her house for as long as possible, so anything was better than that. However, that posed another dilemma. What were two people like them supposed to do together? She bit her lip and tried to think.

After a minute, her stomach grumbled and she growled at it, pouting lightly. Her cheeks went cherry red in embarrassment and she sighed, writing again. -I'll just go home. I'm hungry.- She shrugged, biting her lip again. This time in nervousness.

He blinked a little as she seemed to be debating with herself. And it went on for a very long time. She finally wrote down something after her stomach growled, saying that she was going to go home because she was hungry. He didn't feel like he knew her that well or anything, but he felt like she didn't want to go. So he shrugged at it. "Whatever. I'll get you some food, groupie." He tucked his hand into his pocket, carrying his guitar case over his back as he walked her to get some food.

Kyoshi blinked and blushed wildly when he said he would get her some food. She shook her head, but he was already walking away. The girl squeaked and followed him, having to almost run to keep up. When she finally did, she tried to tug on his shirt a little so that he would look at her. Whether he did or didn't, the girl would feel around for her pad of paper and pencil and blushed at the realization that she had dropped it. Now there was no way for her to communicate with him.

The girl bit her lip and looked up at him, trying to figure out how to tell him that she had no money. That she didn't want him to buy her anything. She sighed and pointed to herself, shook her head, and then rubbed her fingers together as a sign of money. Then she pointed to him, shook her head, made the money symbol again, and pointed to herself, trying to convey her two points. It probably wasn't very clear though.

Crisis kept walking, his guitar hanging right behind him over his shoulder, when suddenly he felt her tugging on his shirt. He looked over his shoulder at her. "What?" he asked. She made a few motions, apparently looking for something. When he realized she didn't have her pad of paper with her, he snickered a little. "We'll come back for it. The music room was already cleaned today."

Then she eventually got his attention again. He thought he got the first part, that she didn't have any money, but blinked at the second. "Okay, you don't have money. Whatever. I'm starving, so come on." He kept walking with her to a place to eat.

Kyoshi blinked and blushed lightly when he said that he was starving and to follow him. She bit her lip and kept walking behind him, not remembering how to get back to the music room anyway. And all of her notes and drawings and everything was in that notebook, so she really didn't have much of a choice in the matter.

When they got to the place of food, she just stood behind him. There were too many people here and she wasn't sure how to handle it. The girl didn't really know him that well, but she knew him better than anyone else here. So she stayed hidden and held onto the hem of his shirt, biting her lip. When it came time for them to order, she just shook her head. And then her stomach rumbled again and she sighed. She pointed to a number on the board, not even sure what she was pointing at.

He gave her a few looks after she stayed behind him like that, but didn't really complain. When it finally came their turn to order, he got a quesalupa- they were at Taco Bell- and then let her get whatever she wanted. He got them a few drinks and then sat down with her at a table. "If you keep walking behind me like that I might try to get you to carry Nevan," he said as a little joke, a slight smirk playing at his lips. He then handed her his phone so she could type.

Kyoshi decided to just get a quesalupa as well, finding it easier to just point at him to let the cashier person know she wanted the same as him rather than trying to explain what she really wanted. When they sat down in one of the booths, she kept looking up at the only clock in the place, biting her lip as it the time inched closer to five. Her mind was brought back to the present though when he made a joke and then handed her his phone. She blinked and looked at it and then at him, confused for a moment. She then typed on it, figuring it was the one way they could communicate without her pad and pencil. -Nevan? And, thank you for food...- She handed him back the phone so he could read it.

He nodded a little at her as their food was now ready. He got up and went to retrieve it for them, shortly returning with both of their orders. He looked at what she had typed, and then returned his gaze to her. He leaned down, opening the guitar case and laying the beautiful piece of art before her.

"Nevan is my only partner. She was crafted finely, and I've never been without her since." He pushed it forward a little to let her examine it herself.

Kyoshi blinked and nodded as he talked about his guitar. She looked it over, but didn't dare to touch it. When she felt like she had spent enough time admiring the beautiful piece of musical equipment, she looked back up at him and smiled gently, nodding in admiration of it. He didn't give her back the phone, so she couldn't type him anything. And she didn't know what to type out anyway. So she just took a bite of her quesalupa.

It had passed the time that she usually spent with anyone new, so she didn't know what to do or say or even think anymore. How much longer did she have to sit here for it to be polite? Plus, she still needed her paper. The girl sighed, starting to get a little anxious to get home.

He ate with her a little quickly, before putting it in a box and standing up. He had noticed her anxiety. He closed the guitar case and carried Nevan with him. "Well, come on then. We've got to get you home. Let's go get your paper." And started walking like she was supposed to follow again.

Whether he was used to people following him or not was undetermined. But truth be told he liked the timid little girl.

Kyoshi nodded and did indeed follow right behind him. When they came to an area that was a little more crowded, she even took hold of the hem of his shirt so that they didn't get separated. As they got back to the music room, she ran in to grab the paper and pencil, immediately writing something down. -Thank you for the food. I'll see you around sometime.- That last sentence took some thought. It implied that she might see him again, but not that she would be looking for him. It was polite and that was what she was going for. Putting any kind of time or anything on it gave her too much anxiety. Leaving it open ended was a much easier solution.

He blinked a little when she immediately ran in and got her pad and pencil. She showed him a quickly scrawled message that thanked him for buying her food, and then said that she would see him sometime again later. "Erm...that's fine, but don't you need to get back home? I was going to give you a ride. Just give me the directions so I can take you there."

Kyoshi blinked when he said he was going to give her a ride home and bit her lip. The girl started to scratch her arm nervously as she chewed on her lip. It was probably a bad idea. What if he stole her like that Chessa girl did and takes her somewhere else?? No. He didn't know about her family. To him it was just a normal curfew, so it should be okay. She bit her lip again and nodded slowly, writing on the paper. -Okay. Thank you.- The girl couldn't stop scratching nervously.
