Enter the Black Box (Pika)

The Black Box Corporation is the most famous organization that no one knew about in the world, maybe, probably...Ghost wasn't quite sure yet. It took a lot of research to even be aware of the mysterious organization, but the temptation was stuck once he busted a small time thug and found a small black square on top of the barrel. He probably shouldn't have even noticed it but something about it just drew him in. He visited the thug in jail and convinced him to tell him where he got it and it turned out that he actually stole it from Wayne Industries in Gotham! Ghost just knew there was something to it. Breaking into Wayne industries was something he just did not want to mess with though, so, he decided to get a little creative. After a week, he made the trip to Gotham stopped at a hotel, locked the door to avoid anyone startling him, and sent out his specter to investigate! His body went limp as his spirit left his body and went off to find the Wayne Industries HQ. It was risky because he would have to travel far away from his body and he would have to risk whiplash or possibly someone moving his body, but, the temptation seemed worth it. He found the building and searched for a guard that seemed as impressionable as himself. Finally he found him! A young black haired guard that was casually whistling at the control desk, bored as can be. Ghost had memorized the serial code from the gun and whispered it in the ear of the guard. The man spun around in his chair, looking white as a ghost, but there was no flesh there to see. Just as Ghost had hoped, though, the man searched the number in Wayne's data base and discovered the bio page for the gun. All it said was 'apprehended from the Black Box Corporation'.

That was Ghost's only lead for the rest of the week. He returned to Jump and searched the web for hours and hours searching for any mention of the mysterious organization, but nothing came up. He was ready to give up when, days later, casually on the street, he overheard two tall man in black suits mumbling but he did hear two words: Black Box. Instantly, he followed the trail, just far enough away from the men but close enough to follow them. They went inside a couple of diners and left instantly until they found one deserted. The got a booth in a far corner and continued to speak in hushed tones. Ghost snuck in behind them and picked the booth nearest to the door and laid down so that none could see him. He sent out his specter and quickly flew over to listen in on the rest of their conversation.

"...we really need extra back up if we're going to guard it, though. Please. Consider it a favor to me, like old times."

The second man had his arms folded and sat silent for a moment, seeming to seriously consider whatever the first man's question was. "What even is the thing that I'd be guarding?"

"You know PowerTech, no questions, amazing pay."

"So, it's illegal. What do you even know about the Black Box Corporation, I mean...is it even legal, what they're holding?"

"This is the first I've heard of them, too. All I know is that they're giving Mr. Powers something pretty special to watch it and keep it quiet. So, you in?"

The man sighed, "You know helping a guard guard is my specialty," he smirked.

All of a sudden, Bradley was whipped back into his body and awoke with a gasp from the shock. "I said, is there anything you wanted, or were you just gonna sleep there kid!? Come on, eat or beat it!" A waitress spoke harshly, nudging Bradley, his head spinning as he got to his feet.

The boy got out of his booth and looked over to the two men in the black suits who also got to their feet. Bradley began walking quickly out of the diner and down the street. Soon the two men emerged, walking just as quickly in the same direction as the snoop. When the next alley came, he turned the corner out of sight of the PowerTech guards. The men instantly sprinted, realizing that the boy knew that they were following him. The turned into the alley and stopped in their tracks as they saw the dead end and no sign of the mysterious boy. Bradley had flown off and escaped finally with something solid to go off of...

It took Bradley two nights to do enough research to figure out who Mr. Powers was, where PowerTech Towers were and plan a way to break in. He suited up and removed his usual cloak so he'd be wearing basically an all black jump suit, but it fit since he was going into spy mode. Flying over the bridge and landing on the docks of Steel gave him an eerie welcomed feeling. "It's great to be back." he said sarcastically. It was freaky hearing his new voice since he had recently installed a voice filter in his mask. He now had a mechanical, lower sounding hum to his voice that he kind of liked.

Ghost flew as fast as he could to avoid any detection. Even though it was in the middle of the night, in Steel, that's when the town came to life. He arrived at PowerTech Towers and landed on the very top floor. The gold metal tower that looked glorious, flawless in the day, now seemed cold and sinister in the night. He took out his concealed crowbar he had brought and used it to pry open the vent panel and entered, levitating himself to avoid any clanging as he wiggled through. He stared through the vents until he found one where he could see the camera. He used his telekinesis to point the camera towards the wall. After waiting for about five minutes, two guards in blue uniforms appeared, moving to fix the camera. Ghost moved the men's heads to bash together, knocking them both out. He then kicked the vent through and dropped down.

Picked up the gun from one of the man's belts, Bradley made sure the safety was on, then hooked it onto his belt. Just in case... he thought to himself. These guards don't have black suits...the floor where they are is the floor where the Black Box Corporation's product is...

He took his cloak out from his belt and put it on, keeping the hood down but his black mask on securely. "The Ghost is in."

Realizing that the top floor would not be his destination, Ghost quickly moved on, spotting the staircase and bolting down, quickly and quietly. He peeked over the corner to try and spot the nearest guard. He sat for about a minute and caught a glimpse of blue movement. Next. He bolted down, repeating the process for three more floors and finally arriving at a darkened floor. He wouldn't be able to spot any guards here and it had a perfect Black Box Corporation floor, so he went in to investigate.

He crept along near the wall, listening carefully to any sound and focusing in on any hint of movement. "Note to self...get night vision for mask..." he mumbled as he continued along.

As he was keeping to the wall, Ghost made sure to be particularly careful and ensure that he wouldn't do anything foolish like trigger an alarm or make a noise loud enough to draw any guards to the area. He wasn't entirely sure if this was the correct floor, but it was definitely a good start. Investigating the out of the ordinary had always been his plan, and leaving an entire floor dark brought up some red flags immediately. He focused enough to try and reach his mind out and sense any presense. He thought he was doing good---

Out of nowhere, something snagged Bradley's leg and flipped him on his back. "What the heck!?" he exclaimed as he quickly got back to his feet. Something about the shock from the fall sped up his eyes adjusting to the darkness and he saw the outline of a person.

He was caught, time for some action! Bradley had prepared for this but was hoping he could just slip in and out unnoticed. Well, he had no choice now. He took out a collapsable pole and used his telekinesis to fling it towards the figure at top speeds. He would then quickly return it to his hands, hoping he knocked the figure out cold.

Before he knew it, the person leapt right back up and hit Ghost in the face. He stumbled to the other side of the hallway and pinched his nose, not sure if it was bleeding behind his mask but sure it hurt like heck. "Gah!"

Luckily, he was able to regain focus quick enough to be able to bring the cut half of his staff to his left hand and he prepared for a longer dual as it seemed that this new adversary was a bit more capable than the other guards. He held both halves of the staves at the ready and, using his telekinesis, threw them at the figure, having them twist in the air to make it more difficult to defend. Afterwards he would try to force them to return to his hands, but had to make sure he kept track of them in the hall. If he lost focus, he could lose them in the darkness...

His own pull was being used against him as he noticed a larger mass being brought towards him. He had enough time to move to the side but couldn't see well enough to know where to move and was knocked in the arm by a doorknob harshly but not nearly as harshly as the figure's impact would have been.

He decided to try and use the staves to his advantage and attempted to use them to move the figure into the year and ram him against the far wall. If he was still holding on for about ten seconds, he would ram against the wall at nearly 100 mph and if he let go, he risked tumbling and knocking into another obstacle in the hallway.

Ghost rested and waited, trying to hear for some sort of impact but before the figure made any noise, he was distracted by the noise of footsteps from the floor above them. "Backup---" he said with a tinge of fear to his voice. He had to take care of this trained guard quickly or else he'd be surrounded and it would be unlikely fpr ho, to be successful in his heist...

Once he heard a crash, he expected to have a moment to think as he knew he would be surrounded in moments. As he gazed at the ceiling for what he thought was half a moment, a knife suddenly struck him in the left shoulder. "Gah!!!!" he shrieked in bloodcurdling pain, slamming his eyes shut and biting his lip harshly.

He expected a knife to a gut a moment later but, he forced his eyes open and saw the length of the hallway. The lights were re-lit and the power was back on. He looked over to where the figure was and saw a...a kid about his age! No black suit...no blue uniforms...just another wannabe superhero it seemed. He really couldn't believe it.

"What!? Wh...What!?" he stood for a moment forgetting about the knife, still in his shoulder. "Who are you and why are you attacking me!?" he asked angrily, but there wasn't much time to answer.

The sound of footsteps returned, this time much louder and much closer. Ghost shifted his gaze over to the entrance of the hallway and then...suits. Plenty of suits rifling in, looking shocked that two infiltrators found their way in. There were about ten of them armed with pistols all set to fire straight at the two. Ghost ripped the two nearest doors out of the walls and sent them flying to cross in the hallway, creating a barrier for the soon to be ensuing gunfire. He turned back to his foe and shouted one word.

"Run!"

Doors would rip loudly out of their walls and create barriers from left to right as Ghost sprinted down the gray hallway alongside his former foe. Once the hallway ended and they were forced to turn right, Ghost made about two more barriers, then stopped and ran past three more rooms before breaking open a door and yelling, "In here!"

If the boy would follow Ghost in, the door would immediately slam shut and Bradley would pull a set of hanging lights down from the cieling to baracade the door, making the room very dim. Bradley brought a finger up to his mouth signaling to the other individual to keep quiet. He put his ear close to the door and listened, his heart racing as he heard guards breaking open the barriers and then the doors.

Crash! Four doors away...

"Ideas!? We have about five minutes!" he said with an intense whisper.

He looked around the room frantically, but it seemed to be just a regular break room. There was a cooler on the wall, full of water, a table with some coffee brewing, a couch and a fake plant with a few pictures sparsley hung around. Crash! Three doors away...

A quick shrug and an doubtful look obviously showed his wariness, but he had nothing better. He quickened over to the other side of the door and closed his eyes so he'd be able to send out his specter and scout ahead. His body went limp and his spirit bolted through the wall and back into the hallway. "I hope you don't mind, but I was able to form a telepathic link while we were in contact in the hallway," Dagger would begin to hear in his head, "They're patrolling the area fast, I'll try to draw them away, but still be ready in case I miss some..."

The boy would be able to communicate back if wanted as the knowledge would suddenly become obvious to him. Ghost hadn't considered whether people would be offended if he would create this link without their permission, but, they didn't much time and he didn't have much choice now.

Bradley's specter had to think quickly as the door slammed and they were two rooms away. "It looks like there are about ten there...oh no...we won't be able to handle that many..." He was getting very nervous. These weren't just ordinary guards. These were suits. They were obviously very well trained and efficient as they bolted through the rooms extremely quickly and effectively. They were only armed with pistols, but, Ghost had a feeling that it was probably all they needed.

The specter flew down the hallway, unseen and unheard, and used its limited telekinesis to weakly open a door, and close it. It worked though! The suits sprinted out of the room and past the room where the hopeful heroes were lying in wait and made their way to the door which led to the stairway.

The specter flew back as fast as possible but accidentally flew through one Suits' upper half. He didn't know if they could feel anything if he did that, so, he froze midair once he passed through and stared, hoping that the man wouldn't turn around. The Suit froze for a moment and turned his head slowly. He remained silent as the others ran ahead, and turned back, beginning to kick open doors on the way. The specter snapped back into Bradley's body, and he woke up with a gasp.

"I got rid of all but one, but he looks ticked!" he whispered angrily.

Crash! Two doors away.

"Almost here..."

Crash! One door...

He held his breath, waiting for the hour of judgement...

CRASH! Bradley immediately flung the cooler at the man, letting it erupt in his face. "Knock him out!" he ordered quickly to his newfound ally. They would have to bolt quickly as the Suits would surely have heard the explosion and would be on their way in a moment. Subduing one shouldn't be too tough...but nine...
