A History Lesson (open)

Tiberius was in the children's section with a book of letters trying to learn how to read. Tib was doing his best to say the letters quietly. Tiberius was pleased with himself he was doing well to teach himself. Tiberius grew bored quickly though and decided to test himself, it was about the same time she was wondering where everyone was that Tib's feet could be heard moving over the floor clacking quietly as they were similar to hooves, he was clearly larger than a horse though just by the sound.

Tib walked to the non-fiction section accidentally bumping a shelf loudly. He hissed at it and fumbled with a book in his blade talons.

Tiberius spun quickly and there were a few clicks and a trill it was a lot like a bird, then he said in an inhuman voice. "Hello" it was somewhere between grinding and choking. Tib began walking toward her his footsteps grew louder quickly, the first thing visible around the corner would be the barrels of his four slotted rifle. Tib hissed slightly as he breathed and turned the corner standing at his full height.

He looked at the strange girl and tilted his head his horn accidentally cutting a metal shelf with ease. The surprise impact made him jump sideways into the opposite shelf and it rocked slightly from the blow.

Tiberius saw the motion and pointed the rifle at her raising his talons clearly he'd been forced to defend himself many times over. He lowered his head watching her intently then his eyes flicked to the shelf seeing it was repaired he stood his interest in her lost for the moment. The metal had been broken just a moment before, he liked this something could fix what he broke. Tiberius looked at her and said in the strange voice. "Destroy, repair, you" he stepped toward her again, he didn't bump into anything obviously he'd figured out the space issue already.

Tiberius lowered his body couching into a more comfortable position, he lowered his rifle and his claws closed against his arms. He held one of the joints out as though to shake and said. "Tiberius. you. help. Like you." Tib's eyes flicked over her features as though memorizing them, he closed the little bit of distance and looked at her face more intently, obviously he didn't know anything about personal space. In his now crouched position he was only 5'6" it was for his comfort and hers, his horn still extended up above his head quite a way.

Tiberius asked mimicking her "N-n-name" he wasn't making fun of her he just thought that was how to talk.

Tiberius nodded and watched her it obviously didn't know what to say now. Tib clicked quietly as though he was nervous and looked back at the childrens books. Tib would take some time teaching himself to read and he'd never write. Tib looked back at her and asked. "Read?"

Tiberius shook his head carefully and tapped himself saying. "read" and began trying to say letters, he got quite a few wrong and others were nowhere close. He looked at her wanting to know if he'd been learning correctly. His attention was focused on her.

Tiberius was able to repeat them back to her and then changed the order saying them again proving it wasn't just mimicry. Tiberius trilled happily and shook his talons up and down excitedly. Tiberius began indicating letters with the tip of a talon and saying them again.
