...and now that I look over your post again, Vestige, I find it very interesting that the Latin phrase: “Vos peto ut subsisto mihi” can also be translated as “I beg you to stop me” when taken out of context. Also, if you isolate “You wish to stop me,” the Latin translation can also read: “Do you want me to stop?” Latin is a very peculiar language ...do the heroes wish to stop Adrian, or does Adrian wish to stop himself?

BIC: The ancient words of the sorrowfully dead language filled the lofty canals in Liev’s ears and brought about sour feelings of regretful childhood years, spent at the knees of private family tutors who hammered the teachings of the Bible into the small and naïve minds of such innocent youth. A deep, overwhelming flood of melancholy dreams poured into a once-confident being, and for more than a few moments––enough to let his own demons begin to take seed––the light that shone from the spectral being seemed to falter––to flicker––with doubt.

‘Vos peto ut subsisto... vos peto ut subsisto...’ Honest racked his mind for a crude translations from but religious memories; he spoke Italian and could––therefore––roughly make out Latin, but it was such a complex language, not to mention the circumstances in which the understanding called for, ‘Vos peto, vos peto...’ I ask? Is this creature questioning his own abilities? ‘Vos peto ut subsisto’... ‘subsisto,’ ‘subsisto’... stop? ‘I beg you to stop? ‘Vos peto ut subsisto.’ I beg you to stop.

“He doesn’t want to stop us; he wants to stop himself!” Honest physically emanated an even more intensive light as he embodied this mask, and proclaimed the truth. He only just figured something out that he would curse himself later for not realising before; this demon was not just a demon; he was an innocent child!

Of course! Honest thought, Demons prey upon the weak. They are cowards, so they must hide behind something. This one is just corroding a mortal’s soul so that it can satisfy itself even when enshrouded in cowardice!

“Ego sum non nocendi vobis; Diabolus est culpa! Diabolus est culpa, brother! The demon is at fault!”

But whether those words were heard, Honest couldn’t tell as he saw the small figure who called herself ‘Zondra Vallexii’––the name just didn’t seem to fit right––immerse herself into the murky depths of the demon’s shadowy keep. Even the garish beams of light couldn’t lift the dread that Honest felt when it happened. Amongst this chaos and despite his efforts, a girl had fallen... right? What was her power, again? Honest had asked, but she hadn’t answered. Perhaps she is some sort of telepath, or another shadow-mancer... I hope she is. I hope to dear God that I am not too late.

Suddenly, the shape-shifter’s thoughts were interrupted as his mind registered another vaguely familiar sound. A gun had been shot––that wasn’t too out-of-the-ordinary, with the police’s presumed position around the house––but the distinct cocking of the gun barrel and a certain trained, specialised bullet...

“Zack!?”

The mere notion broke Honest’s concentration upon the demon as he blurted the name of the monster... of the reason why he left the Teen Titans. It was a strange way of kick-starting the drive to defeat this villain, but seconds later, Liev had already begun to amp up the intensity of his own photo-synthetic pores to match the rage of one-thousand exploding galaxies now threatening to bore through the expressions of hatred at none other than Silent Night.

Coincidence... Liev disregarded quietly, is nothing but a lyric in a child’s rhyme.
