And Then There Were Robots (B-Team)

"Alright! Right when I open this door, we're moving fast and running till the end! I'll take you to the vent entrance and we'll start our assault up front. We might not make it out alive, but, no matter what, get our friend back here." Alternate universe Dom spoke with a serious look on his face. He looked back at the rest of the group, took a breath, hoisted his machine gun with his hands and crashed through the door.

The Doms led the group as they sprinted down the smoke stained hallways. Quickly, alternate Dom pried open a vent panel at the end of the hallway. "Go! Go! Go!" He yelled as he hoisted Dom up and into it. Alternate Dom would be available to help the rest of the three students in quickly if they needed it, before replacing the panel and setting off with his own Amber and Titus.

Before Dom continued through the vent, he began to hear machine gun fire and wild yelling. Their fight had started, now it was their turn. "Alright guys," Dom stopped for a moment to actually look back at the group. He arrived at the end of the line, above what seemed to be the locker rooms. "Should we take a second to make a plan. Figure out what we'd do if we run into like a fight, or something? Or you guys just wanna wing it?"

Dom nodded as his companions really didn't give a care of what to do. He'd give a nod to Titus and then one to Amber before giving a cocky smile and punching the grate with his laser pistol, breaking the cover down and jumping through.

The locker room was quiet and darker than he expected. He wasn't sure if the other two dropped behind him, but he couldn't see further than a few inches in front of him. "Guys..." he gave an urgent whisper as he took a few slow steps forward. Unable to make out a response, he decided to feel ahead of him and push forward. After a few steps, he grasped the familiar grasp of a metal grated compartment.

Following it as the wall of lockers continued to the right, he noticed something more from the ambiance of the room. It actually seemed misty, as if he was wading through a marsh. Moving through the locker room, he noticed it get hotter and hotter. As he moved down a certain corridor, he noticed a faded light slithering down the lockers ahead of him along with the sounds of extremely low rumblings.

He came to the end of the lockered wall a peered around the corner to see what was creating this light. "My god..." Dom whispered to himself.

Ahead of him was a gigantic furnace-like machine that was emitting a bit of smoke through the locker rooms and ahead of it stood a gigantic metal golem, different than the robots that they had come across earlier and far more menacing. A mammoth of a machine, standing at about ten feet tall, it had to lean to remain in the room, although it still seemed to linger with confidence. Behind him was a set of doubled doors that Dom recognized as the entrance to the gym. This was likely his only way through.

Luckily, Amber and Titus were both able to follow Dom despite the darkness. He smirked to himself at Amber's suggestion to just run. Dom wasn't giving up that early, no sir. And he certainly wasn't going to pass up the chance to doop a robot and fail himself. If he couldn't trust himself, then he couldn't trust anyone. Luckily, Titus was there to offer himself up as bait.

"My hero," Dom said dryly. "Good idea Titus, but you'll be toast in no time and we might need you later. I don't know what you guys do, but I heard the B-Team was all about weirdos with powers so I assume you guys do something. Well, long story short, I have a way to sneak in, so, I should be the one to distract it, then sneak in after I lose it. Great idea, though. Nice hustle."

Without waiting for anyone to argue otherwise, Dom ran out in full view of the mech and braced himself to run for it as the being would surely fire on him. After a moment of standing, the metal golem just sat there. A little confused, Dom looked back to his allies, looking for an answer with a shrug.

"Uhhhm...we'll just be going through here if you don't mind," Dom tried as he slowly made toward the door. He walked up to the door and placed his hand on the knob, but before he could turn it, the machine spoke itself to life.

"Cease and desist student. Entrance to the gymnasium requires the correct responses to the three given questions." The being spoke as it raised a cannon attached to one of its arms.

Dom thought for a moment. "And if I answer incorrectly?"

"Immediate expulsion." It said as the cannons hummed to life.

Yeah, he figured as much. Figuring that they had to push on somehow, Dom decided to go for it. "Alright, ask away."

"What is the difference between a raven and a writing desk?"

Without a clue, Dom looked at his feet for a second, did a quick shrug and raised his pistol, firing it right at the freak's face. Immediately the robot sprung to life, leaned forward like a track wonder and jolted with reckless abandon right at the teen. Dom froze for a moment, his eyes widening at the robot's pure speed. With a razor's edge between the two, he was able to dive out of the way, skidding on the ground and jamming his arms down to avoid smacking himself into the walls.

"Ungh!" Dom grunted as his still healing shoulder from the weekend before was shoved into the wall of lockers. Quickly he shot a glance toward Amber and Titus and then a second glance toward the door to the exit. The behemoth, after being stunned for a moment turned its sights back towards Dom, unaware at this moment of his class mates. With a frantic dash, he made way down the hall, trying to bait the juggernaut to follow him.

As Dom ran as quickly as he could through the locker room, he made as many sliding turns to save time, taking advantage of his human capabilities over the robot's limitations. Once Dom found a little distance, however slight, between his pursuer, he took the chance to swing open the nearest locker door and get inside, trying his best to slow the impact to make as subtle an exit as possible.

Whether Amber and Titus knew it or not, he was fine from here, but he wasn't sure if he'd be able to meet back up with them. Although he found solace in that they had probably made it through perfectly fine, he was a little bummed that he might not be able to check out whatever crazy stuff was in the next room. Amber and Titus seemed to know what's up, though, so Dom was confident that they could handle themselves for a bit.

For a moment, everything went quiet. A low 'doom, doom, doom' rang through the corridor as Dom peeked through the grated locker. A smile spread over his face as he could feel his pursuer moving closer and closer to his exact locker. He relaxed himself and allowed his body to fade into the background of the locker, appearing utterly invisible in the darkness. Still peering through the grate, he saw the robot looking straight back into his face. Dom wasn't sure if he was staring at him or straight through him.

A moment of silence passed.

With one quick motion, the robot crushed his hand into the locker door and tore it off then grabbed Dom with his other hand and held him above his head. "Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa!!!!" Dom frantically tried to wriggle his way out to no avail. The robot moved the boy's body close to his face and peered at him with its cold green eyes before slamming him into the ground, knocking him out cold.
