They Came From the Stars (Open)

"And STAY OUT." Hotwire yelled. One of the aliens fell to the ground as hotwire blew a good sized hole in it's armor with an explosive disc. Him and kale had been dispatched to downtown within a minute of the ships appearing in the sky.

He held his hand toward the armor, and analyzed it. It was nothing he had ever seen. Not of this earth. But the mechanics were simple enough. Parts of the armor whipped off and began to float around hotwires hand. As they glowed, hotwire pointed at a few of the psionics. Simple blasts of blue energy took them out right quick. As another one of the large soldiers charge at him, he shot off the pieces into his armor. Right at the core, the machine short circuited, before blowing the soldier unconscious.

All of a sudden a giant appeared. That was new. "Looks like he's on our side. For our sake I hope he stays that way." Hotwire yelled to kale from across the street.

Shivering Jemmy and Dar the Ghost both suddenly appeared on a nearby building top. Dar was obviously disoriented, looking around with wide eyes as he took in his new surroundings.

"Who are you?" he asked.

"I'm Shivering Jemmy. It's time for you to beat up some of these aliens. And remember, you owe me a favor." Shivering Jemmy disappeared from sight, leaving Dar alone on the rooftop.

But he wasn't alone for long. Alien Braves came flying towards him on their jet packs. Their lasers started blazing all around him. One nicked him in the leg. Dar grimaced. He had no defense against these weapons, and he had no means of engaging in ranged combat. Dar ran to the door that led to the lower levels. In the top floor of the building he found an office, and started looking for something to throw at the aliens.

Lasers cut through the ceiling and danced around Dar. He let out a growl. Those same Braves weren't going to just let him get away. They were content to just shoot down at him while hovering above the building.

Dar took the closest possible exit, the window. His body smashed through the glass and fell towards the street, ten stories below. Dar landed in a crouch, forming a crater in the pavement from the impact. He looked up to see Hotwire and several defeated aliens at his feet. "Nice day, huh?"

Dar dug his fingers into the armor of a fallen Brave and lifted the body up. Their armor should be at least resistant to the lasers they used as weapons. Dar decided that he would use this body as his shield.

A brave flew around the building corner and shot at Dar. Dar's trusty meat shield blocked the lasers just fine. Of course, the corpse now had a few charred holes in it, but that was to be expected. Dar retaliated by throwing his sword at the hovering Brave. The claymore stabbed into the alien's stomach and pinned him against a building.

Magic. Hotwire hated magic. But whatever worked right now would do fine for him. They were being invaded. Hotwire looked around and saw a industrial grade fan discarder at the side of the road, and a broken down motorcycle next to it. He saw a couple of berserkers and once again analyzed their weapons. He visualized the parts in front of him and waved his hands.

The parts began flying around him. The cycle parts forms a backplate, the fan formed a turbine in the engine block, and the lasers remounted themselves to his shoulders. He looked up, the turbine whirred to life and Hotwire shot up. He zipped toward the roof where kale was, and a couple Braves started coming at him from behind, only to be taken out by a couple blasts from the canons.

"Bullseye." He said.

Dar cut down another alien Brave before the enemy could bring his gun up. There certainly seemed to be more of these heavily armored aliens than the other kinds. There were some that seemed to use magic to create fire and ice, while others still used stealth and melee weapons to quietly take out potential threats. Dar wondered how many of the Covert were sneaking around, stealing information, or possibly even blending in with the human race.

He looked up at Kale. Strange. Dar was certain that the pink-haired hero had been back at the bridge outside of town. Dar had been teleported here, so it seemed unlikely that the boy could have legitimately gotten here first. Jemmy's words came back to him. He was here to fight aliens. Could this Kale be a pretender? A fake?

Dar moved like a blur, running up behind Kale. He held his greatsword to the pink-haired man's neck. "I just saw the real Kale fighting on the other side of town." Honestly, Dar wasn't sure which one was the fake, but he was hoping that if this was the look-alike, it would panic after having its cover 'blown.' "Who are you, and how would you like to die?"

Bow was just exiting the grocery store, singing to herself with two hands full, when she saw what all the commotion was about. Her eyes went wide and she dropped her bags, eggs and milk spilling on the concrete sidewalk. "Aliens!?... Seriously!?"

The girl didn't have time to think and she knew that. In an instant she was above the ground and soaring through the skies towards the heart of battle. Normally, she would try to talk whatever side out of fighting but, there wasn't time for that in this situation. The street was overrun and civilians were in danger. She came in hands blazing, sending blast after fiery blast at the Braves and others. She wasn't a fighter but she had done just enough training to help in this. As lasers and ice beams were sent her way, she more or less danced her way around them. Doing spirals and free falls to dodge. It was, remarkable, kind of fun. She hated when she sent a blast and made one fall out of the sky but, evading their attacks was seriously awesome!

Then she saw the others, most noticeably, the giant. She flew over and saw that he was tired. Bow bit her lip and started to protect him from the back so that he could at least try and rest. That was when she saw Dar and a pink haired boy. Pink hair? That was her thing... Oh well, it looked like they were having an argument and things were sure to get dangerous over there but, they looked like big boys that could take care of themselves from each other. Maybe they'd even get over whatever it was they were fighting about to fight together! That though helped fuel Bow up again and her blasts were stronger, switching from fire to condensed light and back again. "Just to let you know, big guy! My name is Rain! Nice to meet ya!!"

Kale claimed that Dar had no honor and even called him a coward. As the pink-haired man's breath frosted Dar's blade and hand, Dar growled.

"A coward? I can tell you aren't one for calling me that. Of course, you're still a fool."

Even a fool could be right on occasion, though. Come to think of it, such a stupid response sounded just like what the real Kale would say. Dar retracted his sword and took a step back, leaving Kale free to move. "I'll believe you for now. Only the real you would say something like that. We'll finish up here, and then we'll confront your twin across town."

Another of the Elect flew around the corner of a building and held his hand out towards Dar. Dar pointed at him and yelled at Kale. "Fire or ice. I'm not sure which one." Fire and ice were opposites, and Kale could only manipulate one element at a time. If the pink-haired brat guessed wrong, then both of them would end up dead.

Dar, on the other hand, turned to face two Zydon Braves. He braced himself for the fight ahead of him. These guys meant business. Dar ran at them, their lasers barely missing him. He managed to cut into one of their armored suits, but then he was shot with a laser from the second Brave. Dar grunted. The laser had gone through his left arm. The pain was unbearable, and he started to shake. He looked at the Zydon Brave and pulled his sword free of the first one's corpse. The second Zydon Brave shot him again. This time, the laser went through his gut. Dar dropped his sword, which cracked the pavement beneath it.

He hated guns. Dishonorable weapons, they were still able to kill the strongest of foes. Dar dropped to his knees and stared down the barrel of the laser gun. Unless somebody saved him, his life would end here. His bloodlust would not allow him to feel fear, only defiance.

It looked like kale was in the middle of some sort of identity crisis, but he had it handled. There were more pressing matters. Whizzing over the rooftops, hotwire saw the thing he needed to make his next move. The guns, while powerful, were really bulky. Holding his arms out, a solar panel array on the roof uprooted. The panels weren't what he needed, it was the technology that operated them.

The chopper blading and devices fell off him, dropping hotwire to the rooftop as well. He threw his hands up, and the panels flew to his back. Some alien tech flew up to him as well, along with two of the blades, They fused onto his arms along with the tech on his back. When he was donem in a matter of 7 seconds, he had two fully energized blades, which he then proceeded to cut down a couple of the zydon mages.

They were here at last. It had felt like an eternity since they traveled through the stars in search of this world. All across the globe, Zydon forces were being deployed. First in heavily populated areas, and the plan would be to move on to the more rural areas. They would sweep the planet until there was not a human left alive!

But things never go completely as planned. Perhaps they overestimated their technological prowess. Maybe they underestimated their enemy's battle readiness. Whatever the cause of their arrogance, they were met with resistance. This city, Jump it was called, met them with extraordinary beings. These individuals could fight scores of their soldiers on even ground, even Braves. No one had been expecting this.

"Commander, we're touching down now," a voice intoned, stirring Varix from his musings. "Your orders?" the same voice inquired.

"We're here to assist the main battalion. Remember that we're not here to fight on the front lines, so no heroics," Varix replied calmly as they piled out of the shuttle. They landed on the outskirt of the hot zone, and had a nice view of the battle going on from their rooftop. With Varix was a squad of Specters. Counting him, there were four members from Covert Ops, two elects, and three Braves. All of them could be distinguished from their rank and file counterparts based on their armor. They were outfitted with experimental weaponry, and should any of them fall in combat or lose their equipment, their gear would self destruct. Excluding the Covert Ops because they could already turn invisible, they also all had cloaking.

There did not seem to be any signs of an organized military, atleast not within the city. Uniformed individuals that Varix concluded were some kind of law enforcement appeared more concerned with helping civilians escape then aiding these super powered beings in fighting off their attackers. He studied the fighters, in the short amount of time that he could, there was a giant, some kind of cryomancer, a pink haired girl, a youth that could adapt their own technology for his own needs, and a swordsman. The latter most one seemed to go down after taking out a number of soldiers, quite impressive.

But the giant and this one who could use their tech against them... those were more pressing problems. But there wasn't much they could do in a direct assault with all of them together in one spot. "I want them split up. Either force them to scatter, or lure them away. But don't get yourself caught. When the giant falls, we collapse on them," Varix ordered calmly.

It was a sound plan. Direct force wasn't proving to be effective with all of them grouped together like that. So for now they would have to rely on hit and run tactics until they split up or came after them. Varix began making his way toward the hot zone, leaping from roof to roof with his Covert Ops Specters while the others in his squad took the lead.

The Specter Elects flew close behind their Brave teammates, currently cloaked as the Braves brought their guns to bare on the area around Colossus in a flyby bombing run. The Elects followed up with volleys of flames, coming off cloaking in the process as they stuck together with the three Brave Specters.

"Go after the red hair youth next," Varix instructed the Specters with him as they closed in on Hotwire. Varix drew a couple exploding stars from his belt and armed them, waited a second, and then threw them at Hotwire's feet. They would beep for around two seconds and then explode. Bursts of energy came from his back, his squad backing him up with their energy pistols. Varix drew his own and followed suit, squeezing off several shots at Hotwire.
