Hades Versus Everyone (HIVE)

“How the- They disarmed it!” Hugh exclaimed, as he looked upon the continuing fight from a distance. Theoretically it didn't seem possible to cause damage to the crystalline behemoth. According to Moh's hardness scale, rocks of a lessening factor wouldn't even be able to scratch its surface. Bullets were a no go, water was weak, and pixels about as effective as wind. Luckily the H.I.V.E. kids were all especially talented at breaking stuff. Where there's a will, there's a way.

Branches were forcefully pushed out of his path as the approaching walkway narrowed. Hugh hoped they'd reach the clearing before any amount of bramble or gorse terrain could take root. He didn't need shrubs pulling at his feet, “Guess we'll do what Party Bot suggested. I'll hold it, you guys aim for a weak spot.” With four against one this job would be a cake-walk.

Pix arrived on the seen and was at first taken aback by his hazy memory (0_0). Seems his 2D perspective had caused some woeful miscalculations in the actual golem's height. The HIVE student right now was probably at two-thirds of it. Less than ideal when he planned to be wrestling the foe, “This is so not fair. I wanna revisit my original idea of leaving the Titans with this nonsense.” (T_T) Pix had never been best at sparing. In fact he was right down there with the tech-heads when it came to a punch-up. The only thing he had going for him was his ability to take damage. So these opportunities were never taken on with much enthusiasm, “Don't suppose I can aim for the eyes. Gah.”

To the best of his ability, Pix threw a testing punch at the golem's torso.

Lance's sword was able to batter the golem from side to side, but did little actual damage. As the diamond golem started to fight back, it would suddenly get punched in the chest from Pix. The force of the blow was enough to send it sliding back a few feet.

So, a worthy opponent at last? The golem jumped to the side and retrieved it's fallen arm. Pushing it up to his empty armpit, the monster re-attached the former projectile. Now he had two arms to beat Pix with.

Running across the battleground, the earth cracking beneath its feet, the golem returned Pix's favor and punched at his chest.

Damn. The golem reattached its missing limb, removing its quite literal 'one arm tied behind my back' handicap. Pix stood his ground and tried to feel reassured about the force of his earlier blow. He had power now, a trifle unfamiliar to the teen. The new body was very cooperative with his movements. The H.I.V.E. student's reactions were as fast as ever. Unfortunately that meant less when Hugh did not know how to react. A counter-charge left him throwing both arms up in a crude block. Pix was suddenly bowled sideways, and could only watch Zero's interception as he rolled in the opposite direction.

The robot had saved him a crystalline knuckle sandwich. Pix sincerely hoped his memory unit was still intact. Party Bot had a lot which should be taught to Nix about loyalty. Having each taken one for the team now it was Pix's go. He had to take advantage of Hydra's distraction and pin the golem before it could cause more destruction.

Sliding in, he grabbed the golem from the shoulder and tugged it back sharply, the collision causing a mighty impact. Pix implanted a foot on its torso and grabbed at one of its flailing arms. The golem would suddenly gain leverage with its free arm, and spin-kick Pix in the head. The meta-human let go and stumbled backwards. He found the pixels returning to his face automatically. No mental command was necessary, just like when he was smaller. Just as tenacious as ever, “That's more like it. Now you're in trouble.” The desperately in trouble golem launched a powerful left hook into Hugh's side.

Pixels sprayed everywhere before rapidly returning to the gigantic body. The continuous revitalisation sounded almost like rain. Pix blocked the next punch but not without losing a chunk of his arm, his enemy's blows were powerful. They were blasting straight through him, mercifully losing some of their power in doing so. A stray hook cuffed Pix across the face (@.@). He fell back and put his two hands against the pained area, “Ow! That was my nose. Wait, I don't have a-” Another punch was ducked and Hugh launched a strike back.

The golem caught it and unleashed a flurry of jabs against him. Pix in desperation reached for its neck but stopped short of trying to strangle the creature. With a great swing the golem tugged his arm sideways, throwing Hugh up into the air. He crashed like a dead weight into the vegetation, and lay still for a moment as the pixels again commenced their tireless restroation.

“Small assist guys?” (T_T) A weight grab at Pix's leg and began to drag him across the clearing, “Guys...? Guysguysguysguys!”

The golem turned to face Lance. It had overpowered 3 of the HIVE members, and the geomancer was now the only one standing.

All the attacks done to the golem had not been entirely useless. A small crack could be seen in the golem's left side. It now had a weakness.

But it wasn't going to stand still. The golem charged at Lance as fast as it could, swinging its arms from side to side to build up more momentum. It was going to crush this final human.

The crack in its side got just a little big bigger from the impact of one step.

Reluctantly Pix crawled back to his humongous feet and took baring. They should totally attack together in future, "He's definitely not getting back up." Pix pointed a thumb carelessly at Zero before moving to take position.

With Hydra's attack following on into the defensive, Pix suddenly skidded in from the side and smacked the golem upon its left torso. He then took hold of its right arm in a restraining move, as the unstoppable force began hitting the student's head with its free limb. Hugh just hoped the next attack came before he had to let go.

Although diamonds were essentially unbreakable, they could still shatter if hit hard enough in just the right spot. The crack that had formed in the golem's side was that weakness. Revealed by the constant pummeling the monster had taken from the HIVE students, the weakness was now ready to be exploited.

Lance's blade dug into the crack and the force behind the spinning attack was finally released. The golem shattered into hundreds of pieces, it was instantly dead.

The HIVE members might celebrate in their victory by trying to take the priceless shards of diamond. Unfortunately, with the magic being destroyed, it's very essence faded into nothing. The diamonds turned to dust within a minute.

Elsewhere, the Titans were finishing their fight with the zombies, and the Night Hawks were still battling Hades himself. The HIVE students had done their part to protect their city.

While every punch saw Pix lose mass, it was still a surprise when the golem itself shattered. Only their foe wasn't going to be putting itself back together. The H.I.V.E. student quickly followed suit, and dissolved his giant form. Hugh lay resting on a bed of pixels, holding his head as if it dared to split open. His headache was torture but they'd done their bit.

He spoke without enthusiasm, almost delirious, "Yay. We won." The purpose of this fight had been lost somewhere along its proceedings, but it suddenly dawned on Hugh. There they were risking their lives just so H.I.V.E. didn't have to move house. Could you be a hero amongst villains? "The next mission we solve with talking, okay? Words don't punch you in the face. Now someone go get the robot."
