Hades Versus Everyone (HIVE)

A lone figure stood on a hill on the edge of the woods, looking at Jump City below. It was Hades, sorcerer. The time had almost come for Mr. Pacific to bring his answer. If he did not do as Hades had commanded, then Jump City would burn in Hades’ rage.

“Hades.”

The sorcerer turned around. Mr. Pacific and the rest of the Night Hawks were standing at a distance, and they looked ready for a fight.

“I never accepted the terms of your deal. Now here is my deal: you leave Jump City forever or we’ll destroy you.”

Hades laughed at the pathetic man. “Do you really think you can beat me?”

“No,” said Pacific. “That’s why I brought them.”

Behind Hades, two groups would appear: the HIVE, and the Teen Titans. They were enemies, but they had made a momentary pact to fight a common threat and save the city they both lived in. With three teams versus this one man, it was now an even fight.

Hades growled in anger and quickly cast two magic spells. He summoned an army of undead warriors to fight the Titans, and he summoned an army of earth golems to battle the HIVE. He himself would fight the Night Hawks.

Overkill. That's what it was. To think a group of H.I.V.E. students had even entered the same clearing as the Titans. Yet not to fight each other, but to hone their attentions on a common enemy. One solitary arthritic old man, who had a big stick. Didn't the police get called out to deal with the crazies? Magic powers or no, this wasn't worth even a passing concern. He imagined this Hades would surrender at the sight of such opposition.

The order to cooperate must have surprised most. Headmistress had heeded Mr Pacific's unlikely warning and chosen to respond with an admirable force. Unaccountable to most, but if Pix understood politics as he did, then this was the only outcome. The Nighthawk had been lying when he claimed not to challenge them. His very presence was a challenge. The Academy could not be made to seem weak. Especially when it's secret location had been discovered. To ignore this summons may have caused doubts in Headmistress' leadership. And anyway – what better opportunity to demonstrate the H.I.V.E.'s might?

A mat of leaves overhead stole visibility from the forest floor. South of the prevailing mud-trail was a depression in the land that provided a secluded hiding spot. The supposed threat lay over the near-ridge, oblivious to them all. A dramatic entrance wasn't always necessary, but being villains, it was a chance the students were rarely allocated. Just waiting on their cue, “Odds two to one he dies from a heart attack.” Pix added, before glancing anxiously back at their lookout point.

The unveiling of teams certainly gave Hades animation. Though not of the fatal kind. His staff swung, a freak wind gusted the air and suddenly he was not alone in the forest, “Oh, this wasn't worth mentioning? Bloody Nighthawks.” Hugh had been present at Mr Pacific's personal debrief. This would appear to be the culmination of his vague power descriptions. Looming shadows stood sentinel between the group of young supervillains and their summoner. Warriors of titanic proportion - Golems. There'd soon be a lot of rubble.

The army of earth golems crawled out of the soil in front of the HIVE students. They ranged from 8 to 14 feet in height and were almost as wide as they were tall. One golem led the attack by running straight for Pix with surprising speed. Raising both of its massive, several ton arms into the air, it smashed downwards on the young villain, hoping to crush him into the dirt.

"It looks like someone didn't do there homework last night. Earth Golems against me!? Hahaha what a joke."

Fissure would cause a few cracks in the ground as he slowly bent his knees. Lance would then jump up with the help of a column of stone coming out from the ground to send him towards one of the Golems. Fissure would put both of his fists straight out and punch right through the stomach of one of the Golems. The Golem would now have a large hole right through its abdomen, just below the glowing blue orb in its chest. The Golem would turn around to Lance swinging its fist towards him. Fissure would swing his fist towards the Golem's and they would collide, causing the Golem's arm to break into rubble. Lance would look on at the sight with a grin on his face, but then a Golem would appear right behind him and it would seem that Lance would get crushed underneath the fist of it.

Among the H.I.V.E. students that had been assembled for this very fight; was Hydra. She was one of the newer students to join the H.I.V.E. but already she had found herself in a very tasking situation alongside her fellow students. This was certainly an opportunity for Hydra to prove her worth, but boy... Was this going to be an uphill battle. Though it did seem a momentary truce had been called with the Titans. Interesting... Very strange, how well this alliance holds up could very well determine who walks away from this battle.

As the Earth Golems approached, Hydra had opted to stay back. A few reasons for doing this. For one, she didn't really know her comrades. She had spoken to a few, but that's not much. So she wanted to see how they fight, and see how she could lend a hand in a supportive role. And then... They are fighting Earth Golems, to which Hydra knew full well would mean that her air based powers would be relatively non existence if she used them on the Golems. As she looked around at the H.I.V.E. students, she saw two perhaps needing assistance. Pix had a Golem running towards him, looking to crush him beneath it's fists. Whilst Fissure had just dealt with one, but had another about to strike from behind; Hydra was unsure if he even knew. Screw it, she acted. Jumping forth; Hydra called out.

"Lance! Look out!"

She first warned him of the Golem, but then brought her powers into play. Hydra's hands would illuminate a sea blue color. She clapped her hands together, and from that; several blasts of water would shoot over Lance, and at the Golem behind him. The water attacks buffeted the Golem as it his its chest. The Golem staggered back a little, regaining composure. As this had occuered, Hydra had begun running towards the Golem. She leapt into the air, and from her hands a decent sized wave was produced beneath her. Hydra would ride the wave past Lance, crashing it straight into the Golem; it fell over. Hydra landed on her feet, turning back to Lance as the Golem remained down.

"Mind finishing it off? Not the best when it comes to ol' rocky types like these"

Lance would look up as his name would be called out by Mia. He would for a quick second wonder why she was yelling out his name, but he wold get glimpse of the large shadow coming up from behind him. Lance would prepare for the impact that was about to be brought down upon him. It would be a relief on Lance's shoulders when Hydra would go and shoot a few blasts of water right over Fissure's head. Fissure would give a sigh of relief also as Hydra would ride past him on a wave and knock the Golem down onto its back. Hydra would then tell Fissure to finish off the large Golem. Fissure would smile with slight pleasure in the idea.

"Don't mind at all!"

Lance would yell out as he would use his powers to launch himself off of the ground with a column of stone towards the Golem on its back. Fissure would wind back both of his fists as he went through the air. He would land down on the Golem, slamming his fists into its chest, causing the Golem to explode into rubble. The head of the Golem would still be intact as Fissure would walk over towards it. Without hesitation he would crush the Golem's head underneath his foot.

"Thanks Hydra, good looks."

Lance would give a slight smile and nod his head.

A pixel screen would fall between Fissure and the remaining golems, “For the love of... Stop!”

Hovering just overhead returned Pix. His previous foe having been given the slip momentarily. From the platform he crouched on, he could stay ahead of the rampant charges of these surprisingly nimble behemoths, “Should we take a moment to think?” Truth be told they barely had a moment to spare. But he felt strategising was worth some time spent, “We need to pull back. Well not 'need'-” The debris spoke for itself, “but it would be in our best interests.”

“Where do you think these golems will go if we leave them alone?” A hand pointed across the clearing to where Titans fought a growing zombie horde. The stench of decay just about reached Hugh's nose from this altitude on a cross-breeze, “They'll overwhelm the Titans. Take out a couple. After which we can rejoin the fight. Hey, we only promised not to attack them ourselves.”

Screw the pride of the H.I.V.E. They had an opportunity here. As far as temporary alliances went, they had no obligation to save Titans from trouble. It wasn't a betrayal as such. Pix believed the term was a 'difference in negotiational interpretation'. All that was required was for his teammates to agree. Be it through good sense or hatred for the heroes. How the battle was won should not have been important as winning it.

With that Golem taken care of, Hydra was pretty happy with the teamwork displayed between herself and Fissure. A smile, she soon heard Pix rambling. So she looked towards him, hearing him out. It was a smart plan, fleeing and leaving the Titans to attack the Titans. But Pix had seemingly overlooked one point.

"But... What if we, and the Titans have to fight Hades? ...If he beats the erm, the Night Hawks. We could do without going into that fight crippled. In a way we... We kind of need the Titans on this one. Jus' sayin'. It's something to think about before making a move"

If Hades does beat the Night Hawks. He'll target H.I.V.E. and Titans after. If that occurred, the best bet was to be sure both teams were strong enough to fend him off. Attacking the Titans now may now be the best idea in the long run. Of course it was up to Pix and Lance to make the call, Hydra was still a newbie so. Whatever they decide, she'll go along with.

Escape would soon no longer be an option. The three HIVE students were now surrounded by 10 golems. The creatures rushed their opponents. Their massive feet cracked the ground as they approached, and their fists formed shock waves when their attacks missed.

One golem jumped high, hoping to land on top of Pix while another 2 kept him busy with punches and gut-wrenching stomps.

Four golems ran for Lance at full speed from different directions. Each was ready to punch the human into the dirt.

Meanwhile, 3 golems ran right for Hydra, one after another. If the first one fell, the other two would punish the little human with crushing punches.

"Both of you have a go-... ah crap! No time to pause!"

Fissure would say as he would notice the group of Golems quickly regrouping and surrounding the three of them. The three of them would split a bit so each person can take their own load of Golems. Lance would be surrounded by four of them. The four Golems that surrounded them came rushing towards Fissure at full speed with their boulder-like fists coming towards him. Lance would take a stance like a cowboy in an old western movie as he watched all four, two in front and the other two with his peripheral vision. Fissure would wait until the Golems were already at full strike motion and he would then disappear into the ground. The fists of the Golems would all collide with each others causing the fists of the Golems to crack under the great pressure.

"I wonder..."

Lance would think to himself. He would then swim through the rock in the ground, feeling his way through with his seismic sense activated. Fissure would go and pop up out of the ground so he could get onto the back of one of the Golems. Fissure would grab onto both sides of the Golem's head and try to use his powers to take control of the Golem. It would be a slight struggle as the Golem would try and reach up to his back, but he would easily then be overpowered by Fissure's powers. The Golem would now be under control of Lance. Fissure would use his powers to fix the arm of the Golem and get ready to fight the other three.

"Wow, I didn't think that was going to work for a sec."

Fissure would say to himself as he would charge at the three Golems the were also charging at him. Fissure would get the Golem he was controlling to give a powerful punch to the lead Golem coming at him. The other two would grab onto the arms of the Golem being controlled to try and stop it from doing more damage. Lance would look to his left and then his right. He would then launch off both of the arms of the Golem he was controlling sending both Golems into trees nearby. Lance would stand up on the shoulders of the Golem and kick the head off of it towards the one that was directly in front of him at such a high speed it would cause it to smash into the orb of the Golem's chest. Lance would then punch down on the torso of his Golem and cause it to perfectly split in two. He would spread them a bit so he could slide down in between and then spread his limbs as fast as he could to send the pieces flying into the last two of his Golems and crush them.

Being that the students soon realized that they had been surrounded by several Golem; they had split off slightly as to allow room for one another to fight. Mia had found herself up against three Golems. Three Golems that were currently charging towards her. It was intimidating, but she wasn't afraid. Earth Golems never had a great time when dealing with water; so whilst half her offense (Air) was useless, the other half (Water) made up for it.

The first Golem that arrived would swing his fist towards Mia, she ducked and weaved out of the way; avoiding making contact. The Golem then struck the ground with his fist, and the earth around the impact would shake a bit. Mia almost lost her footing, but regained her balance just in time to step back when the Golem tried to smash his fist into Mia. This time Mia would jump on the arm, running up it until she was able to stand on the Golem's shoulders. By now the other two Golems had arrived, so Mia poked her tongue out; taunting them. At the same time, those other two Golems would launch a fist at Mia. She would leap off the Golem's shoulders, and the other two ended up striking their ally. None of them went down just yet, but they were rattled. Mia then would whistle, grabbing the attention of the Golem's.

"Surfs up!"

Her hands glowed a pulsating aqua blue, Mia dropped to her knees and pressed her hands against the ground. From there a wave of water would be generated, crashing towards the Golems. The Golem's would try to advance towards Mia as the water gushed away towards their feet. But they were nowhere near fast enough to outrun the water. The waves would eventually break off the feet of all three Golems; who were now sat on their torso's; swinging their arms frantically. Mia got up now, a wide smirk spread across her face. Mia now felt a little too confident, and therefore put herself in danger. She would stand in the middle of the three Golem's. Mocking them, taunting them; wanting them all to attack. They all did, they swung wit both fists each. Mia leaped to the floor to duck the attacks, and it worked. The fists collided with one another, breaking off around Mia. The Golem's were useless now, they had no way to move, and no way to attack; unless they try to headbutt. Still, those torso's were going to be a problem for Mia. She didn't exactly have anywhere to gather up a large amount of water; therefore she had create a high pressured water blast within a little amount of distance to hopefully create a crushing force to break these Golem's open. Stood between the three, Mia would use her aerial powers to ascend up into the air; she wasn't leaving. When she felt high enough, Mia would leave herself to fall, down towards the Golem's. As she fell, she created a shield of water around her, the fall sped up by shifting air currents pushing her down; a suicide dive. Mia crashed into the ground; where the three Golem's were; and as a result; water went everywhere. But... The three Golem's were now in pieces; defeated. Mia was surrounded by rubble, laying on the floor and staring up at the sky above. She coughed violently, and water spouted out of her mouth. Dazed and confused; she had only one thing to say.

"Never let me do that again..."

Oy vey. Fight, fight, fight. This was why Pix was required on this mission. Walk his fellows through everything, “We don't have to fight him. Weren't you listening?” Pix shook his head sympathetically at Hydra, “Mr Pacific conveniently neglected to mention that they've had dealings with Hades. If he's the kind to make deals, then we can revise the Nighthawks' terms.”

Hydra spoke good sense battle-wise, but there were far more intricacies to a war than battle. The stronger side didn't always win. A victory could be achieved through tactics. Even if those tactics involved changing allegiances. Though the debate could go on no further. Just as the ex-Titan was about to throw in his two-cents, an opinion Pix was very much intrigued to hear, the enemy had closed in. For blocks of stone they sure new what they were doing. Surrounding first before engaging.

Fists swung with breakneck speed. The powerful swings, though missing Pix, caused him to anchor his body to the airborne pixel construction. Dodging was more than his natural balance could take. His situation wasn't improved by the shock-waves that rippled through the air. The golems had him on an unconditional retreat. Pix could only spare little concentration for his counter attack.

The screen from before reconfigured, forming dense cubes. Imagination of his constructs wasn't key here, striking the enemy was. Both cubes spiralled at their targets, picking up power with a spinning momentum. Unseen from behind, the mentally-controlled projectiles struck home at the head of each golem.

A cumulative total damage of nada was achieved.

The golems didn't even register being hit. It was less than a mosquito bite to them. Pix looked on in alarm (0_0) as the wild swings continued around him. The woods were not rich with excess pixels to pilfer. Without them this was the most he could ever hope to contribute. Welp. I'm useless.

An eclipse suddenly blanketed the student. Pix risked looking up to find that it was the shadow of a third golem. The descending foe was impossible to avoid. With a seismic tremor the golem crashed onto the ground. Feet having entirely flattened the sprite meta. Upon moving up out of its own crater, a mat of pixels impressioned firmly into the mud was all that could be seen of Pix.

Mia had remained laying down on the floor for several moments; catching her breath after having used up a lot of power and energy in that last attack. It wasn't until she heard a thud that she sat up. A glance over, she saw a Golem had crash onto Pix, flattening him. As the Golem got back up, so did Mia. Her hands were glowing a pulsating aqua blue color as she would walk towards the Golem; blasting it back with quick bursts of water. The Golem would stumble back as it was hit, shielding itself as best it could with it's large forearm.

"Pix! You alright?"

Mia inquired. She had stopped blasting the Golem, and her hands were back to normal. She rushed over towards Pix, checking he was alright. He didn't look good at all.

At large Hydra received no answer. There wasn't much left of Pix to answer. Or rather not much discernible. Every pixel was still there. Each of the thousand silvery squares were lying in this mud pit somewhere. The extreme mass of golem had completely removed any semblance of shape or form, crushing the 3D figure into collections of haphazard constitutes. Nothing moved save for shaking under the occasional tremor.

It hadn't been on his top ten. Ways to die – Smushed by golem feet. Pix had always been more fond of something in the over-indulgence category. Perish in the middle of pure bliss. A lingering thought inquired as to what the H.I.V.E. Academy did with their dead. Whether they'd remember or perhaps commemorate a valued student who'd died on mission. Or they could have just given the corpse to Charmcaster for her zombie collection. Who knew. They weren't going to find out today.

To one side, a trickle of pixels had peeled themselves from the clay and began their reconfiguration process. Though seemingly nothing at first, a face was now visible. Pix's sprite features were filling out layer by layer. Already you could make out his dazzled expression, (@.@) “That'sssss a very nice wall you've got there, golem.” Despite the regeneration of his body, Hugh was still suffering the repercussions of having every molecule in his body stomped on. It hurt, wiping clean the slate of his mind for the time being.

Lance was easily able to dispose of his set of Golems unlike the efforts of his two teammates. Mia was able to also dispose of her set of Golem's, but at the cost of dispensing a lot of power. Pix on the other hand seemed to be having little to no luck with his set of Golems. His powers proved to not help him on offense all that much as seen when he tried to attack the Golems from behind. Fissure would then see the Golem that jumped up to go crashing down on Pix. Lance would look up in awe because it was already too late for him to try and even interfere with this attack. All he could do is watch as the colossal Golem came down onto Pix.

"Holy shi-"

Fissure would be cut off by the sound of the crash from the Golem crushing Pix under it. Fissure would go and run over, but Hydra would be able to get there first and blow back the Golem with a blast of water. She would go down into the crater to see if Pix was alright. Lance would turn his attention to the three Golems that were left over while Hydra tended to Pix. He gave her a nod to the silent agreement that he had made. Fissure would walk up to draw the attention of the Golems that remained attacking him. Fissure would tighten his fists, which would cause the ground underneath him to slightly crack. Lance would have a slight smirk on his face as he did so, giving the Golems a look that in a way showed it would be the end for these Golems.

"You three are done."

The Golems, with a what seemed to be mindless mentality, would go running towards Lance. Lance would go and run at them causing the ground to crack an imprint of his foot as he went at them. Fissure would jump up with his fist cocked back. The lead Golem would go and throw his colossal boulder-like fist at Lance's. Fissure's fist would meet and then crush through the fist of the Golem. Lance would be able to keep going through and rush his whole body through the lead Golem like he was running through the finish line of a marathon. The Golem would be turned into rubble. One of the other Golems would come behind Lance and clap his hands with Lance in between them. The Golem would wait for a second and then open its palms. In his hands he would see a perfect indent of Fissure's body in both of his hands. Lance would slowly turn around and raise his hand in an uppercut-like fashion. A large column would come up from in between the Golem's legs and split his into two pieces. Fissure would go and levitate the two pieces and would shoot them both at the last remaining Golem. The pieces would crash into the Golem causing both of them to be reduced to rubble. Lance would turn back to Hydra and Pix.

"You two okay?"
