Power Brainstorming

Cone of sadness: (only for a particularly depressed hero/villain!) A thirty foot by ten foot cone of invisible energy flows from your outstretched fingertips and makes everyone it touches as depressed/sad as you happen to be at the moment!

Skingraft: Similar to the mass power earlier in the thread, you can make any physical object a tattoo on your skin, and manifest any tattoo on your skin as a physical object. Limited to how much skin you have.

Lord of Rot: Your very presence is such a violation to the laws of nature that nonliving matter around you decays at an advanced pace: simply walking past a fruit stand reverts it to a pile of mold and rotting wood. Living creatures/robots merely feel sick/inefficient around you, but your touch will cause advanced decay.

Going hand in hand with the above power, Portals of Decay: You can use any two sources of decay as two ends of a portal. ie, you can step through a moldy wall and out of a rotting tree.

Masochism: Any form of pain only makes you stronger, though you still take damage as normal.

Haunted: When killed, you haunt the nightmares of you killer, becoming more terrifying every night for a month until their dream becomes so vivid it is indistinguishable from reality. It is then that you tear your way back to this world, the living incarnation of your killer's terror. (You are still yourself, not their greatest fear. You have become one of their greatest fears, however.)

Jack of All Trades: You have the power to tap into the abilities of any famous Jack's in fiction by assuming their persona: the icy powers of Jack Frost, the surgical abilities of Dr. Blackjack, the killer instincts of Jack the Ripper, the giant-slaying talents of Jack the Giant Slayer, etc. You can only use one at a time and you gain any weaknesses that persona has.

Impending Doom- This magical spell creates an orb of energy four inches wide. It travels in a straight line towards its target at a grueling 10 miles per hour. Everyone, no matter who they are, has an innate reflex to avoid the orb at all costs. Even if someone is not aware of the orb, they will become aware of it, even if it wakens them from their sleep. Why the big fuss? If the orb hits, the target instantly and irrevocably dies, period. Is your character immune to magic? Doesn't matter. They still die. Force field protecting you? Doesn't matter. The orb passes through force-fields as though they weren't there.

Repeat Repeat- You choose who to inflict this curse upon. When the repeating curse is active on someone, they can only say the last sentence you, the giver of the curse, have said in their presence. Every time they try to say anything, no matter what they do, they can only repeat your most recent sentence. This curse ends after 24 hours.

Field of Blades- Force fields protect you from taking damage, but this field inflicts damage upon your enemy. You can create an orb of tiny, sharp blades that swirl around you at incredible speeds. Anyone who touches this field will receive dozens of tiny cuts, motivating them to fight you from a distance.

Indomitable Will- You have an insufferable, indomitable, and unsurpassed will. Anything dealing with willpower is your area. You are immune to any effects that depend on the opponent having a greater willpower than you, and, of course, any effects that depend on you being weak-willed.

The Gap- Perhaps it wasn't always this way. Maybe, a long time ago, you could have been beaten. But other people simply don't seem to think it's possible anymore, with all of your accomplishments. You radiate an aura of superiority. You can be defeated, but this aura of yours simply convinces other people that you can't.

Maybe a bit OP, but some I came up with.

Here are some more.

Perception filter:  As long as you have this active, it's nearly impossible to notice you.  This power messes with the mind of anyone observing you so they see you as ordinary and think nothing of you; even if you are an invader in a secret base or something of that sort, as long as you do nothing to draw attention to yourself.  However, this power only works for as long as you think about white paper.  You have to be constantly keeping a mental image of white paper in your mind, or else the perception filter disappears.  

Flubber blubber:  You can deflect any physical or energy based attack off your belly, as long as you can make sure the attack hits you there.  'Nuff said.

Just Desserts: Your attacks are based off of various desserts including but not limited to: Streams of icing, rock candy boulders, sticky laughy taffy ropes, boiling chocolate, candy cane spikes, gingerbread minions, and so on.

Candification: You turn inanimate objects or NPCs into candy! You do this either by touch, or casting a flashy projectile that turns the affected target into candy! And then you can eat them!

Forget Me: People instantly forget you exist once they look away from you. It is impossible for them to remember ever seeing you, making you the perfect enemy!

SILENCE: You cancel out any and ALL sound within a certain radius, making it impossible for anything to make any sound ever while this power is up.

Ghost Tricks:

Your character has a set of ghostly powers, called Ghost Tricks. This of course entails when they start off, they're already dead. This power is really more based on it's subpowers, which have their own limitations. The overall gist of the powers culminates in one kind of important weakness: You're character can't recall a thing. Who are they? Who killed them? And most importantly... why? Those will be the driving questions your character will want to answer.

The subpowers are as thus.

Possess and Manipulate: Your character soul takes the form of a blue flame, which inhabits the world of the dead, a bizarre limbo where time is frozen. Everything takes on a tinted hue (color of your choosing), except for inanimate object, living creatures, and corpses. Inanimate objects take on a light blue hue, with a small white dot in the middle called a core. Living beings are orange, without cores, and corpses are a dark purple with a core. Characters with ghost tricks can stretch their soul-flame out to reach these cores while time frozen. They must be possessing a core. However, their range is limited. They can only stretch out by about a meter or two. This presents difficulty in moving around, as a character with ghost tricks can't move through his environment conventionally, but by hip-hopping between objects. The characters corpse has it's own core, and emits a unique radiation pattern, and will act as the characters starting point.

Your character can switch from the world of the living to the world of the dead at will. When in the world of the living, they can manipulate object. This does not entail levitation, but simple manipulations, like opening a window, or rolling a spare tire. The trick varies by object, but with some ingenuity, your character can accomplish some pretty cool tricks.

Phone Lines: Ghost Trick Characters exist by possessing object. However, there is a way for them to move great distances. They can go from Point A to Point B over the phone lines. However, what phones they can travel to are very limited. They can also see both sides of a phone call in a phone they are possessing, though someone with a corporeal body has to make the call. They can only travel phones that they have either already possessed or have seen on the other end of the phone line.


And now for the power that is a good deal of the reason why the others are so limited.


4 Minutes Before Death: Character with ghost tricks can time travel. You heard me right. They can time travel. The circumstances of this are very limited however. They can only use this power when they possess the core of a corpse, allowing them to speak with the person who has died. A corpses core will disappear 24 hours after their death (with the exception of your characters core). After your character has spoken with the persons ghost, your character can turn back the clock to a time four minutes before that persons death, the persons ghost traveling back with him. However, since cores disappear after 24 hours, the time jump will never go any farther than 24 hours and four minutes. Phone lines can not be used by your character 4 minutes before death unless the phone is in use, in which case they can only travel to the other side of the call. The regular powers of possess and manipulate still work in this mode. The entrance point will be where the body died in relativity to the closest object.

If they successfully save a person, they will retain the memories of their death even after their return to the "new present". They will also gain a core of the dead, allowing your character to speak with them. A persons soul will retain an unconscious state for two minutes following their death. If a ghost trick character travels back during this small window, the characters memories of death will be foggy, and seem like a vague thought afterwards.

Screw -blank- I have money: The user completely shirks any and all responsibility pertaining to any questionable actions they may have committed. If someone attempts to call them out on their shenanigans, the user will announce 'Screw the rules I have money!' and completely ignore them. This is just one example of this amazing ability.

Other variations include: Screw my sister. I have money.

WARNING: Does not work unless the user has money within the thousands. They may also have to spend money in order to screw the rules.

Screw the rules! I have green hair!: Identical to Money, except the user's hair HAS to be a lime green. Lying is wrong, and if their hair is lime green, if it becomes tarnished or discolored, they can no longer screw the rules.

Shenanigans: The counter to one trying to screw the rules or get away with unlawful tomfoolery. Upon calling shenanigans, everyone becomes armed with a broom and proceeds to beat the snot out of eachother!

Embodiment of normality - No power is able to affect this character in any way. To the point that a flying character will be perceived as suspended from wires. Someone with super human strength would hit like a strong human but nothing outside normal limitations. Everything this character sees is explained by movie magic and trickery.

This is My Final Form- When your character should be dead, they are instead miraculously fully healed and are given a power increase. They then must announce that they have entered their "final form."

Lockout- You lock a door to a room with your magical key. Until you unlock it, nobody can enter or leave that room by any means, even teleportation.

Key to the Heart- By stabbing this key against someone's chest and turning it, you can switch their emotions on or off. This does not wear off, but can be undone by various means. If the person in question does not have emotions, then they can be granted emotions by this power.

Key to True Power- By stabbing this key against someone's chest and turning it, you can activate any latent powers they have. You also give them full control over all their powers (momentarily removing lack of control or confidence). Finally, their full potential is brought out. If they have only been tapping into a portion of the power they have available to them, they can use all of it. This effect only lasts for about 10 minutes, and can only affect the same person once per day.

Dividing by zero: This character has the ability to perfectly divide by zero in such a way that it breaks the fourth wall and restarts thread from the beginning.
