Hello again, fellow members. I'm back with yet another brainstorming thread. As always, please feel free to add your own ideas to the list. I feel like skills are often overlooked on this site. But the right skills can open doors for your character, sometimes literally. They can grant you versatility and create role playing potential. The goal here is to create a resource for members to use when designing their characters.
In my opinion, skills should be:
-Possible. Something a normal human could learn.
-Impressive. Sure, you can swim, but do you really need to say that in your app?
-Useful. Cooking is harder to justify in a superhero site.
Let's begin.
Escape Artist- You are trained to escape from restraints in clever ways. You simply know how to wiggle out of it. Super useful if someone slaps some handcuffs on your wrists or ties your arms together with rope.
Lock Picking- Your hero team reaches the evil lair, but the door is locked. This skill will help you open any conventional lock without alerting anyone.
Hacking- while this also can sometimes be used to open doors, hacking has many more potential uses. From turning off the lights to accessing files to taking control of robots, the possibilities with this skill are limitless.
Repair- Day your car, motorcycle, or power armor breaks down. This will help you fix it. Having equipment break on you can be detrimental to your mission. So next time a bad guy smashes your titan communicator, fix it up.
Stealth- Anyone can try to stay quiet and move slowly, but only a pro can pull your wallet out of your pocket and leave the room without you realizing they were ever there in the first place.
Acrobatics- Flip, tumble, and balance your way through adventure. Someone push you off a rooftop? Land with a graceful roll and walk away.
Medicine- There are lots of injuries in Jump City. When supervillains are blowing up buildings, you can bet you'll find someone who needs first aid.
Detective Work- What are the villains up to? Only a true detective can find out.
Smooth Talking- You can talk anyone into anything. There's no mind control involved, just some good old manipulation.
Connections- Sometimes it's not what you know that's important, but who you know. You know everyone. This could be more specific by saying you have friends in high places, friends in low places, or friends in a certain group. Any of these offer potential uses.
Reading lips- Always useful for when the bad guy knows you can't hear him.
Languages- Speaking a multitude of languages makes you essential to international missions.
So there you have it. What kind of skills can you guys think of?
