Weathering The Storm [Titans/invite]

Robin stood infront of the teen titans' main computer, finishing up a series of messages from and to the other teams. This served two purposes; one was to see if DOMA had cracked down on them any more severe than them, basically just touching base with them. The other was of course getting as many point of views about what DOMA was doing. He wanted to hear what others thought of it compared to his own before he made a decision one way or another. In the mean time, they all had already been preparing for the worst. That did however mean that they were... too busy to devote any time to try and go against DOMA's cease and desist. Atleast one thing they had been able to investigate alteast was the matter of the never ending snow that happened not that long ago. Along with it came the minions of Fasilli, some deranged jester who staged a prison breakout atleast as far as the entire united states. That couldn't be a coincidence but he didn't have the time to even begin a further investigation into that.

Before that there was the giant skeleton attack. Then there was some kind of alien "invasion" of sorts, which he only knew DOMA responded to it in some fashion. There was also the looming threat of The Joker hiding somewhere in the shadows too. Wow. This was a terrible year overall. The only silver lining to the latter was that Barbara was with them, for the time being atleast. Despite that, he did not have a very optimistic outlook going foward with what to do about DOMA. He had looked into it enough to learn that right now, there was just the two options. Without any legal grounds to absolve the federal law being put into action, and rob DOMA of their legal authority, they were going to stay. Which meant that he and the others had a difficult choice coming up very soon. Two weeks flew by when you were digging your trenches and getting ready for the worst.

All that was left right now was to bring everyone up to speed, also get their thoughts on the impending deadline of DOMA. They'd idly talk about it here and there, the general thoughts and feelings then led him to feel like they would not be registering for one reason or another. Even he wasn't fond of the idea, simply because of what that may mean for his identity. Even if that wasn't an issue, he didn't really believe that DOMA was being used with good intentions, and saw it as a way of trying to control them. They couldn't bother the adults in their Watchtower, so they turned their sights onto the closest thing. Suddenly being viewed as a criminal for everything he and the others had done for this city was... disilluisioning. It was definitely making him rethink a number of life choices that led to this moment that he was trying not to delve too much into right now. What mattered right now was ensuring the safety of him and his friends, and remaining an active pressence to do what they always did- regardless of whether or not DOMA or anyone else approved of it.

Beast Boy walked into the main ops room, having been summoned by the Titans leader Robin. Despite the seriousness of the situation he had an impish grin on his face "Hey Robin! Why do you look so stressed out? These DOMA guys DOMAtter! Get it heh, heh..." after a few seconds of awkward chuckling his smile dropped and he sighed deeply "...I can't even joke about this, dude."

Beast Boy's morale had been low recently thanks to the DOMA situation. Over the past two weeks there has been very much a doom and gloom atmosphere in the Tower as they prepared for the end of their two weeks deadline. That kind of environment might be where Raven thrived, but for Beast Boy it was horrible.

They hadn't been able to go out to fight crime like they usually do since they were too busy with their preparations. In that time a freaking alien crashed down in the middle of town and fought a local hero and some DOMA enforcers. It was super frustrating!

Beast Boy looked to his leader and returned his Cheshire grin to his face, even though it was fooling nobody "So am I the first one here?"

"Well, you kind of are." Barbara stepped up from next to the door frame where she'd been waiting. Strangely, she didn't seem to have much of an issue taking off her mask around the team, and as such she was wearing a white tank top, her reinforced Batgirl leather jacket unzipped, and some jeans.

"Robin and I have been working on an alternative solution to the team's living situation until this whole thing gets swept under the rug. The Teen Titans have supporters, they just don't have much of a say right now. Give it time, and they will again." She walked over, cleaning her glasses on her top and sitting down on the console next to Robin.

"Until then however, we're going to need some searching. From what Robin's told me, you're good at tracking, can breathe underwater, and acquire a mild tremor sense using the forms of subterranean rodents, correct? I'm thinking you can help us out here, but we're also going to need the rest of the team to agree to my stupid little plan."

"We could always open a portal to another dimension."

The door slid open again, and a familiar shadow floated into the room.

Raven looked sleepy today. Granted, she did look that way for the majority of their involuntary vacation. Staying up late, and sleeping in. As she were a toy at the end of the battery power. She floated over to the couch, and brought herself over it, back slightly hunched, and a distant look in her eyes. The appropriate word was 'melancholy', she thought. Raven never thought she'd miss the actual crime-fighting. And yet, here she was. In the brief quietness associated with her arrival, the girl looked at those present, before sighing.

"This place is gloomy."

Raven said, on an unrelated note, before looking at Robin. Usually, he was the one to have an idea on what to do in difficult situations, and Raven usually followed his calls. But right now... nobody seemed sure in what to do, as the challenge presented to them. They were used to fighting villains and costumed freaks who broke the law. But what if the enemy was the law? The girl gave it a lot of thought, over these two weeks.

"So... What is today's discussion going to be about?"

“And what is the little plan you have in mind that you have claimed to be stupid?” Starfire asked, walking into the room right after Raven. Raven was right, the room gave off such a gloomy vibe. But Starfire was probably not helping in lifting the mood as she herself was feeling a mixture of confusion, unease, and a bit lost in the whole situation involving DOMA. However, she trusted her teammates, even the new recruit, because if Robin trusted her it was good enough for her. Hearing that a plan was already in the process of being hatched filled starfire with the little tug of hope she had been searching for. She was eager to hear it, just wanting to be able to return her and her friends lives back to the normality of helping those in need, no strings attached, no worry of being called a criminal.

Robin turned at the wooshing sound of the door opening, revealing Beast Boy. He smiled faintly at Beast Boy trying to lift the mood. "You not being able to joke? This IS serious," Robin quipped, trying to cheer him back up as Babs made her presence known, followed by the others trickling in one by one. Raven saying something was gloomy? Things really were bad for everyone it seemed. They already briefly touched upon the subject of DOMA's deal, which no one would argue sounded like a suitable alternative. But there were caveats, there always were. He was honestly not in a position to even entertain the thought without knowing how this would affect Batman and the others. That was the only issue with the deal that would affect him, as he was technically the only "normal" human being on the team, not completely excluding Cyborg but he was likewise very defensive about his cybernetics. He still remembered the trouble Robin had getting him to cooperate when they had to stop Brother Blood from destroying the city with a tsunami. "Before we get into that, I know we already talked about this briefly after they first came to our door. But is everyone in agreement that we're not following through with DOMA's registration?" Robin said with a sigh, wanting to double check with everyone first before they went about the plan. Two weeks had gone by so fast, the deadline was almost up.

Beast Boy chuckled a little bit at Robin's quip, smiling appreciatively, when Batgirl appeared and gave Beast Boy a fright "Gah! Uh, sorry Batgirl, didn't see you there." The ginger girl had been so quiet that Beast Boy hadn't noticed her at first. As Batgirl spoke Beast Boy couldn't help but stare at her, not for the reasons he usually stared at girls, but out of genuine curiosity. When she first appeared she had somewhat of a mysterious aura about her, hacking her way into the Titans Tower and calling Robin her baby brother. She had certainly left a strong impression on the rest of the team, but now here she was with her mask off and everything.

As she was speaking she said that his powers would be useful for her plan, whatever her plan was "Uh sure, happy to help!" Wow, he sure was making a good impression on the girl.

Soon after the rest of the team came in, with Raven joking about opening a portal to another dimension and Starfire asking Batgirl about her mission. On the other hand, Cyborg was being uncharacteristically quiet. Beast Boy couldn't help but notice how tired Raven was, not that it was especially subtle "Are you alright Raven?" Of course, considering the situation it wouldn't be all to shocking if she wasn't okay.

Soon Robin got to the point of the meeting, to discuss DOMA. He asked the group what they thought of registering with DOMA, a question that Beast Boy was the first to respond to "There's no way, Robin!" The young teen may be confused as to what they were going to do about DOMA, but this was one thing he was clear on. They were the good guys! There's no reason they have to stop doing what they do just because some jerks want them to stop! And he was sure the rest of them agreed with him.

She nodded as Robin asked her to hold of on the briefing of the plan overall. "I think going ahead with DOMA's registration is the wrong move for the team as a whole. We don't know what they'd do with that information, whether it be Beast Boy's DNA, Starfire's status an an alien, Cyborg's cybernetics, or Raven's demonic heritage." She glanced at the gem on the half-demon's forehead and gave what she hoped was a comforting smile.

"I don't think it's worth taking the risk. Not until we know everything about them. Cyborg and I have been working on figuring out exactly who runs DOMA, and the signs are pointing at someone Batman has personally taken a stance against in the past. So we don't exactly want to present ourselves on her doorstep."

Raven remained silent, wanting to hear what the rest had to say on the matter. Hear their thoughts, and let them shape hers. She was hardly a decision-maker for the team, and ... she was smart. In a sense that she was aware of the imperfections of her own mind, and always doubted her own decisions, especially of this scope. Was it the right choice or wrong? Had all the variables been accounted for? She preferred these questions to be answered by other, more straight-minded people. But as she heard the words today, she felt she needed to say something.

Something that had been on her mind for the last two weeks.

"Taking risks is our profession, is it not?" - she asked, briefly looking at Batgirl, upon hearing her mention her heritage. No offense was taken, of course, but... the thought of everyone getting to poke and prod needles into her past was ... unsettling.

"Assuming we all rebel against the registration, won't we become... outlaws?" - Raven paused, to make the whole weight of the word settle in on them. "We'll have to go into hiding, but responding to emergencies will reveal us every time. Besides... we will have to fight the police arriving on the scene, not to mention DOMA." - she bit her lip a bit, looking down.

"Most of those people would just be doing their jobs, even if it means trying to arrest us. Would any of you be fine to beat those people, who would technically be on the right side of the law?"

Raven then looked at Robin, straight into his eye.

"Or do we decide the law now?"
