Another hunt (Foal and Angel)

It was a calm day. The sun shone gently over the horizon as it started to sink deep into the sky and began to slowly to paint the buildings with vivid reds and oranges, a beautiful view perfectly captured in the front windows of a locally owned restaurant. It wasn't particularly fancy, but it was in an excellent location, and the food was reasonably priced and tasted great. Many of the patrons chewed lazily or chatted idly with one another as they watched through their window. Few of them noticed the man covered head to toe in SWAT gear steadily advancing upon the restaurant. Even fewer were perceptive enough to notice that it appeared that the man was wounded - his left shoulder was stained a crimson so deep it looked black as if a lot of blood had pooled under the cloth, a hypothesis that fit with the drip stains running down the same arm. In addition, the cloth under his right wrist was similarly stained. However the man moved unhindered by these apparent wounds. Perhaps they were not his?

In any case, none were prepared for what happened next as the front door shattered inwards under a heavy boot. As patrons and employees threw themselves to the ground amidst the screaming, the man simply strode forward, apparently immune to it all. His identity was completely hidden by his head to toe body armor, and a mirrored visor over a black tactical ski mask provided two layers that his his face. He had his Famas raised with the stock planted firmly in his shoulder, the barrel constantly twitching from person to person as he scanned the crowd. He continued striding slowly forward, his steps graceful and eerily silent, as if he were creeping through some facet of enemy territory rather than through a crowded restaurant.

The screaming eventually died down as people watched him in fear. Then two things happened at once. Two people seemed to recognize one another. The bartender's eyes widened as if he suddenly realized what this was about, and the SWAT officer noticed the bartender. The bartender tried to reach for something under the bar, but was sent pitching backward into the shelves of booze behind him as his shoulder erupted in a spray of red. Once again, chaos erupted and several customers who were now behind the officer made a break for the door. When they escaped either unnoticed or ignored, people began fleeing the scene as quickly as they could. None of the ordinary people there even noticed that the bartender had shrugged off his debilitating wound and reached for the underside of the counter again with his other arm.

The response was the same and he now slumped to the floor with a bullet hole placed precisely in each shoulder, the socket joints shattered beyond use by the impact of the 7.62x51 NATO rounds that tore through them. The SWAT officer placed his rifle on his back, not caring if anyone noticed that it stayed there without a strap or sling, and drew his combat knife as he reached behind the counter and dragged the man up by the scruff of his neck. Slamming the man back first on the counter top, he forced the man to keep his mouth open when the bartender gasped in pain. Whatever the SWAT officer's intentions were, it looked like it involved some impromptu surgery.

Nikki had been enjoying the setting sun and quiet. Drowzing quitly when she was suddenly woken by a roar of bullets and the smell of gun power. Her eyes were wide as she looked around her and saw some SWAT guy blowin down a quiet littleresteraunt andfrowned. *why would he be doin that?* she gotup from the grass and ran over, which was proving more and more difficult as more and more paniced people fled the area. She cursed at the crowd but finally got close enough to see what was going on. She stood in window that some paniced customer had jumped through to escape and watched as the SWAT guy bashed the bartender down on the counter and hold his knife in his jaw holding it open. Well this didnt look good. Probably should figure this out, now.
"I take it the guy messed up your drink or something?" She asked as she climbed half way into the window and sat there, careful of the glass srtill sticking out.

Keri was sitting inside of the crowded restaurant, waiting for her friend to arrive for their lunch date, when all of a sudden, she just heard screaming civilians, crashing glass, bullets leaving the barrel of their guns. She sat there sipping her coffee observing the chaos around her, especially the supposed SWAT agent and the bartender. She used her telekinetic powers to put on her costume and noticed another girl crack a joke. Keri couldnt help but giggle softly but then stood up, and met her at the window. "Not so sure about that, he just came busting in... but I assume they've had a history together? or something like that" she noted.

Zuciya always had her communicator on her, so if things got too serious, she would call for back up, but all she knew right now was that she didnt know whom was on the good side, or on the bad side. She then approached the man in the SWAT gear, to see what he would do, her powers ready. "Excuse me sir, but what did this bartender do to you?" she asked politely.

The bartender screamed in agony as the officer's combat knife dug into soft gums. He tried in vain to gnash his teeth and squirm away, but the armored man's grip was like solid steel. With a wet scraping sound, the SWAT officer's hand suddenly flew up as whatever he had been gripping came loose. He glanced down at the bloody tooth in his hand and seemed to grin under his expressionless visor as he crushed it between his fingers, allowing the powder within to fall to the floor, it's potential wasted. As he did so he released the bartender, waggling a disapproving finger in his face.

He spared a glance at the two women approaching him before looking back to the bartender. He leaned in until his mirrored visor almost touched the man's bloody face, muttering something audible only to the man. In one fluid motion he shoved the man and spun around to face Keri, a Glock 17 quite suddenly in his hand as it aimed uwaveringly at the closer girl. The bartender meanwhile, slid along the counter top until he fell to the floor and hit the wall with a heavy thump at the other end, knocking him unconscious. While it would have been expected of him to either identify himself as police or tell both women to stand down or be arrested for obstructing justice, the man remained as silent as he had been since he entered, mimicking the expressionless mirror of his visor.

Thanks to the same visor it was impossible to tell exactly where he was looking, and while one hand kept the Glock trained on Keri, his fingers twitched slightly on the handle of his combat knife as he held it in a reverse grip and drew it to press the end of the handle to his chest. Drops of crimson still fell from the readied blade, sounding as loud as thunderclaps as they spattered on the floor.

Zuciya saw the SWAT man hold up a gun to her, and noticed that he had a hand on the handle of a knife. She sighed softly, her red hood covering majority of her face. She sighed softly, and pulled out her communicator, notifying him that she was on the same side as him, and that she was a member of Link. "Easy there" she spoke softly, using her powers of telekinesis Zuciya tried to remove the gun from his hand and to place it on the floor in front of him. "Was just wondering what was going on, that's all" she said calmly, smiling sweetly at him.

The restaurant was now empty, except for the passed out bartender, the SWAT man, Zuciya, and the other girl who came in through the window. No civilian was hurt or unconscious, thank god. By now, the sun was set, and night was approaching quickly, as elongated shadows were now disappearing completely.

Nikki jumped from the window and into the building and darted over to the bartender, careful to try to avoid the suited man and his gun. She pressed two fingers to his neck and felt for a pulse. It was there, the poor guy fainted of panic probably. She grabbed a rag from the bar and tried to clean up the mess in his mouth and then turned his head to the side so he wouldnt choke to death on his own blood. When that was taken care of she jumped up on the bars surface beside the guy, "yeah bud, we're not here to start any trouble. But, you probably could have just as easily flashed a badge and arrested him-"she nodded back behind the counter towards the bartender,"without costing everyone their lunch." She looked around the ruined restuarant, then back at the SWAT member, "just sayin." She smirked in her usual teasing way, even though this was probably not the time to be teasing this guy. Who ever he was.

The officer seemed to tense up even more as Zuciya used her ability to try and take his weapon from him. He felt the weapon tug slightly in his grip, so he clamped his hand down tighter, strengthening his magnetic field in an attempt to use it to clamp his hand shut tightly enough to maintain his hold on the weapon. His mind raced. It was obvious these two weren't normal people, or they'd have fled with everyone else. But who then did they work for? The closer girl in the hood was showing him some kind of communicator, as if that was supposed to mean anything to him. Perhaps it did to the local police? He very much doubted it meant anything of significance to the original owner of his current attire, as they would then likely recognize the unit number and know exactly who he was. If that were the case, he was sure they would have opened fire by now. Unless it was a trap.

He was pulled away from his thoughts as his Glock was tugged once more, the strain on it increasing. Which one was it? Beneath his visor, his eyes narrowed. The second girl had run over to check on the bartender. Good, it appeared she was stabilizing him. He needed that man alive, at least until he could learn what he knew. But that meant her attention wasn't focused on him, or on his weapon. His grin widened under his mask. It had to be the other one. She was staring straight at him, focused right on him. He only had a moment before the gun was pulled from his hands. It seemed she was quite strong. Which path to go down? The girl in the red hood was obviously either some kind of telekinetic or at the very least had control over metal, magnetically or otherwise. But what about the other girl? What could she do? He hadn't seen any sort of elemental ability displayed by her yet, and all too often those with such abilities liked to show them off in trivial displays of strength, but that didn't mean much. Was he really thinking about this? Of course he would fight. How else would he make the screams stop?

In the instant before he lost his grip on Terry, he fired twice in an attempt to shoot the hooded girl in the gut. Trying to maintain the element of surprise, he whirled around and drew the Famas from his back. He didn't have time to take careful aim, so he merely fired on full auto at Nikki as he tried to take out both girls before they had a chance to react.

Zuciya heard the shots before she saw his finger pull on the trigger. Automatically, on reflex, she threw up her arm, throwing a protective field around herself to deflect the bullets. However, she only felt two bullets repel, but heard a third gun shot. Her eyes widened as she saw that the man in the SWAT suit was firing at both her and the other girl. Should she call back up from the other Link members?? Could she do this without anybody's help?

She had an eerie feeling about the SWAT member, as if he was delusional, or was confused. Regardless, she had the notion to help him, regardless of what happened in the past, or what is happening right now. "We are just trying to help!" she said desperately, as she tried to focus and redirect the bullet that was aiming at the other girl to try and veer it's course into the wall instead of anybody else.

Nikki yelped and fell of the counter, rather ungracefully in fact. She hit her head on the wall behind the bar and knocked several glasses from there place. They fell and shattered on the floor. She quickly sat up, still behind the cover of the counter and checked herself over for damage. She had somehow managedto avoid all the bullets except one that had put a holein her t- shirt sleeve.
"And that was one of my favorite shirts!" She grumbled as she stuck her finger through the hole. She glared up over the bar suddenly disliking the gun weilding SWAT member. She heard the other girl say how they were just here to help and she shook her head slightly and luaghed a little. She decided to be as silent as she could manage. Maybe with how shefell he would have though he had shot her. It was a chance shehad a small element of surprise. She then smirked, no. She had a big element of surprise. This guy didnt know she couldchange form, just that she was a nut who decided to stick around and he had already possibly shot.
She slunk closer to the edge of the counter and tried to peek around with out being seen as she let her muscles shift and stretch into her ferrety form, careful to stay low so she wouldntbe seen.

As Nikki dove behind the counter, the SWAT officer dropped to one knee and spun back around to face Zuciya once more. His weapon was aimed unwaveringly at her, though he held his fire as if he was considering something. The seconds ticked by like hours as the man remained a statue. Inside his mind, however he was quite the opposite. Did he shoot her? That hadn't worked before, but it was worth a try with larger rounds. Did he speak? They couldn't help him. No, they wouldn't help him. They didn't know. If they did, they wouldn't be here to begin with. Or they would have tried to kill him.

"You want to help..." He said at last, the first words he had uttered since his arrival. His voice was low, barely above a whisper. His mirrored visor tilted down and to his left ever so slightly for a moment as he seemed to be lost in thought once more. The visor turned back to face Zuciya. "And yet you hinder." His finger tightened on the trigger, but he didn't fire yet. Something seemed to be holding him back.

bic: Zuciya was shocked at the sound of his voice when he spoke for the first time since he cdame in shooting. She kept her hands up, ready for anything. "I have to hinder in order to know what is going on, which will then lead to me helping appropriately" she said in her soft spoken voice. "I don't mean any harm to you" she said as calmly as she could. However, inside, she was shaking like a dog, her thoughts running a mile a minute.

Nikki snarled softly at the SWAT officer. She stayed crouched low behind the counter in ferret form ready to pounce should the other girl need her help. She listened as they said a few words, how the SWAT guy thought they were only a hinderance, how the girl said they needed to stop him to find out where to help... all boring talk stuff. Nikki just wanted some one to get to the point of whos but needed kicking and let her just get to it already. And so far as she saw, it was this officer guy for trying to play dentist with an unwilling bartender. She snorted in annoyance at having to wait through all this talking stuff.
