Scouting the opposition (Open)

To find out what these heroes were capable of Chameleon had to make a scene somewhere in town. He couldn't just let someone else do the works and observe from afar, no, he was the puppet this time. Chameleon had taken the form of some lowlife thug he found roaming around the darker parts of the city. Wearing shabby clothing, only partially shaved, equiped with a small caliber handgun and a balaclava ready in his pocket. He stood next to the main entrance of Jump City's Bank, his target for today, looked at his surroundings on last time and then pulled the balaclava over his head. His hands reached for the pistol while he began to move towards the entrance. He firmly pulled back the slide and chambered a round before forcefully entering the building.

Some people didn't know how fast they had to leave when they saw him enter, while some just stood there astounded. Quickly Chameleon checked his surroundings. There were a handful guards present, a few desk attendant who probably had access to the alarms and the safe and at top of the lobby were a few rooftop windows to allow for more light. The guards had to be dealt with, but he wasn't as worried about the attendants since he wanted the alarm to be raised. The guards raised their weapons and immediatly moved towards him. Mal'Zahar returned by raising his own weapon at the guards closest to him.

"Drop your weapon and lie face down on the floor!"

The guard shouted, the crowd beginning to move restlessly for the exit. At wrong place at the wrong time, but that's what he got paid for. Chameleon pulled the trigger and the first round hit the guard he was aiming for straight in the face. The crowd began to scream and move around him in a massive wave towards the exit. The guards wouldn't get a clear shot of him without potentially harming any civilians. He didn't have that limit and proceeded to open fire at the guards who tried to get the crowd to get out of the way. The crowd pushed it's way outside, people falling down and getting pushed all around. By the time the crowd made it's way out, only leaving a few trampled people behind, three of the guards lay dead on the floor. Only one guards stood in front of his iron sights, hopefully the silent alarm had already raised. Both men fired their guns at each other at the same time, the bullets flying straight towards their targets.

Both bullets were blocked and another presence made itself know to them. It was right as he planned, one of these heroes had come to save the day, or so he might think.

"Nahaha.." The sound of laughter errupted from his body for a few second, as Chameleon was thoroughly enjoying himself. "But if the driving force behind this act is not the money. What if I planned this to draw you out, how would your plan go then, huh?"

His aim had already shifted towards the newcomer. Bullets wouldn't help much, but it was the thought that counted and they might pose a decent distraction. Before either of them could react however, something erupted in the middle of the lobby. It was a magnificent display of dark energies, one unlike any he had ever seen before. Out of it all appeared figure, one he would say resembled Death in this world. It gazed upon everyone in the room and even he could feel a shiver once the man gazed upon him. He seemed interested only in the dead guards, and the one who was still standing. This one found a most unfortunate fate, the fate of meeting the hooded figure's deadly weapon. It was a bit overdone, but it the thought of one less human didn't bother him much. They intended to take over the planet anyway.

"I see I've made quite a stir. Now.. what were you saying about pounding my face in?"

Hopefully the acts of the hooded man didn't go so well with the hero's way of life. Nevertheless he couldn't count on this mysterious being just yet, maybe he was posed to fight him too. The shrouded man did look like a bit too much too take on right now. Still, he still had his disguise, for as long as that would do him any good.

The titan threw himself at him, thinking he'd get an easy win on him before handling the other guy. So, he still thought he was just a human, that also meant he wouldn't put all his force behind his attack. Mal'Zahar fired multiple shots at him while he was closing the distance. All the bullets did was bounce off his skin and drop to the floor, severely dented. The titan had some sort of armor, that would multiply his strength a lot, probably outmatching his own by far. Still, he was the faster one here and that alone could make things even. Before any of them could clash the hooded figure shot out some sort of energy beam that hit the Titan right were it hurt. He was thrown through the walls of the building, leaving him to crash into the traffic behind him. A most destructive display, he wasn't expecting that at all. Still pretending to be a mere thug he spoke to the dark one.

"Man that was wicked. I'm glad you decided to show up, saved me some work!"

Chameleon walked towards the counter where several employees were still hiding from them. He was going to mislead the Titan some more, and hopefully scythe guy over there wouldn't mind his actions. Most of the humans hiding were male, but his eyes fell on the one female among them. It would be harder to figure out he was a shapeshifter if he took a form of the opposite sex right now. He threw the handgun to the floor, pulled the balaclava from his head and walked towards her. She was noticibly afraid, especially with him closing in on her. He rested a hand on her shoulder and started his powers.

"Don't worry, it'll be all over soon."

He muttered to her. Slowly she drifted away from consciousness and he took her form as his own. The other employees looked at him in amazement, some even muttering some words in the sense of what's going on. The hooded figure didn't seem to think anything about his display of powers, but he hoped he wouldn't let his secret out.

"The rest of you keep quiet or I'll make sure to make your life a short one."

The sound of his voice made it even harder for them to believe, but here he was, an exact copy of the woman now lying behind the counter, telling them to keep quiet or fear for their lives. He made sure he sat down in front of her body, to make it unlikely she was spotted, and waited for the titan's return to the building.

Chameleon stood up, hoping the woman would go unnoticed for a little longer, and walked towards their 'savior'. He had seen enough for a new report, but there was one thing he still was curious about. This armor the Titan featured, was it built in his body, or was it something else. Luckily he could find out himself right now.

"T-Thank you. One just disappeared and the other ran for it right after you fought that strange hooded fellow."

He stopped in front of the Titan, trying to look at him as emotional as he could in his new form. If his abilities weren't part of his body he wouldn't copy them either, although there was a slight chance he wouldn't even if they did. Whatever he would do, he'd have to do it quickly since his paralysis didn't work so well on humans as it did on other species. The woman would wake up in a minute and by then he'd either have to be gone or have dealt with this Titan.

"I think he went that way."

He pointed towards the exit, and indicated a right turn with his now womanly slender fingers. The Titan focussed his attention towards the direction he pointed and whilst a little distracted Chameleon used his other hand to pick his stomach. He wanted to paralyze him right here, even though it's effect would be limited, and use his appearance to confuse the Titan even more. What he did not anticipate was that he might not be able to copy his features while he was coated in that substance. His appearance began to shift between his own human form and that of the woman irregularly. The paralyzation didn't go through as well.

"How unexpected, I think you've found your culprit."

His voice was back to it's original tone for the duration of the irregularities of his shapeshift. Chameleon pushed the Titan back, flipped over the desk to create some distance and watched his reaction. His body finally settling back to the appearance of the woman.

"Questions you say? I think you'll find you have even more questions now."
