Remember This Name (Kris)

Kris smiled, "It's fine, we cool?" Kris put out his fist for a bump, awkwardly of course, why WOULD he be calm now? One doesn't simply walk into Confidence.

Ember almost flinched when he put his fist out. She was kind of expecting a swing, like all the bullies used to to back in the 70s. Instead she found herself with one of the biggest issues of jumping forward half a century. She had no clue what she was supposed to do. Going on a guess she shakily put her own fist forward and bumped them. "Well, I guess so. We're cool."

"Let's head outside, I could use some fresh air," Kris offered his hand to help her up, hoping he didn't seem creepy to her. He mentally face palmed, he wasn't that good at making new friends.

Ember nodded and accepted his hand to get up. Maybe she had misjudged Kris. Just because he happened to have the same face as the guy who ended her life didn't mean he was a terrible person. He already confirmed he wasn't related to Tim...and he seemed to genuinely care about her too! Walking alongside him, Ember took a few deep breaths. "So you actually liked that?"

Kris smiled and playfully punched Ember's shoulder, "It was amazing! I adored it!" Kris laughed, but then saw a girl getting bullied and walked over there.

Ember blushed as she got punched in the shoulder. It was weird, she got hit and for once it didn't hurt! Looking up, she saw a girl getting picked on by two football players and saw Kris walking over. That confirmed it, he wasn't anything like Tim. Marching over with gritted teeth, Ember stepped between the girl and the football players, glaring up at them. There had to be at least an 8" difference in height between Ember and the shorter of the two, but she knew she didn't have to be afraid anymore. Not with her ghostly powers. "Leave her alone...or there will be serious consequences."

"You hear that, Mark, this little girl is giving US orders!" The shorter one laughed, and the larger one looked at Kris, "Do you see this toothpick, he looks like he'd break from a flick!" He goes to flick Kris' forehead, but Kris grabbed his hand and jerked the monster of a jock down, a loud CRACK was heard, then another as Kris punched his lights out.

Ember had already kicked the shorter one in his knee with all her strength, forcing him down on one side and letting her aim a kick straight to his gut. At the end she smiled, looking him in the eye with her guitar over her shoulder. "How about a lullaby?!" She shouted, cracking him over the skull with her guitar, knocking him straight out and not even putting a scratch on her guitar. "What a chump." She chuckled, watching the girl run away, not really expecting a thank you.

Kris high fived Ember, his black hair waving in the wind, he looked down at the guy he took down, his arm was fractured. "Guess the Titans aren't winning many games this year, what a shame." Kris grinned at Ember, motioning her to walk with him.

Ember continued down the hallway, reholstering her guitar and beaming. It felt good to finally do something about them! "Where'd you learn to fight like that?" She suddenly asked, turning and walking backward so she could look at Kris as they talked.

Kris shook his head, "Three things you don't ask a guy: How many girls he slept with, why doesn't he stop and ask for directions, and where he learned to fight." Kris said this semi joking, but it was polite on the first two, avoiding on the third. He then looked around, "Let's get something to eat!"

Ember shrugged and followed him. As a ghost she never really got hungry. She for the most part could sustain herself in that way. But it was still possible to eat simply for pleasure. Walking with Kris to the cafeteria, it was a surprisingly short line. Understandable seeing as how the food looked...pretty nasty. "I'll sit this meal out." She said with a laugh.

Kris stared at it, it was disgusting, he chimed up after about 5 minutes, "I think it's staring back at me." Kris then pulled out his wallet, "Let's get some pizza."

Ember nodded and walked with him further. "Yeah, pizza sounds really good right about now." Truth be told, she hadn't had pizza because she'd been floating through the afterlife for the past 40 years or so. She was kind of surprised it hadn't run out of style.

Kris laughed and walked outside and started to head to his favorite pizza joint, about 15 minutes away from the school. He looked back at Ember, "C'mon you have to move your feet to move!" Kris said in a joking manner.
