Smash and Throw (Open, on the street middle of city)

Early morning, and the nightly party had finally quietened down. Only a few people still walked the street, either on their way home, or on their way to an early work day. Suddenly a large block of concrete, with steel embedded in it smashed onto the street below causing an early morning office worker to throw on his brakes sharply. Coming to a stop they looked up to see a figure vanish from where the chuink had been ripped from the roof of a nearby retail unit.

At the end of the street Veedra threw her massive bulky demon self off the roof and landed on the road, sending a tremor through it. She stood up on her hinds and transformed back to her half-human form and grinned round at the still-closed shops in front of her.

"More toys!" she giggled, before leaping forward towards a cafe with a rolled-in awning just calling for claws to rip it apart...

What his reckless peers didn't realise is that there was a little something that good crimes called for known as subtly. Hugh liked to break things as much as the next villainous gent, but he felt a raid should have more to it than 'smash and grab'. That was why Pix had perform his most recent heist of an electronics shop completely undetected. No Titans, no ninjas, no worries. The job went off without a hitch, as they say. A bag full of merchandise floated on a bed of pixels next to him. There was no need to involved Speed Demon or Cheshire, those two just complicated circumstances.

Whilst revelling in misguided contempt for his fellows, Hugh heard a crash. It was somewhere on the streets below him. He was currently practising his airborne capabilities whilst returning to base. This afforded him a birds-eye view of the situation. Someone was creating havoc. Via an analytical point of conduct, that meant not to get involved. But curiousity was the bane of cats for a reason, it got the better of folks.

Pix landed himself and his ill-gotten bag of goodies a short distance off the perpetrator. It was still dark out but he had learned to increase the brightness of his pixels for illumination. Hugh's body itself shined. Quickly analysing the girl, one could assume she was not human, but Pix himself was a walking arcade game. That at least added some hope conversation was possible.

“Are you angry or something?” Her furry tail was observed with something resembling alarm on his face (0_0), “Better question. You're metahuman, right?”

Veedra froze for a moment, before slowly turning to the guy speaking to her. He seemed oddly blocky and blurred to her eyes, and she blinked a few times before realising he wasn't about to clear. Oh well. Better answer him.

"No, I'm (unprounouncable range of snarling, gutteral noises and growling). That is my name."

Her nose suddenly caught scent of something yummy from within the cafe and she turned her attention from the blurry person towards where the smell was coming from. She ran towards the shuttered window and threw herself towards it, bouncing off much to her annoyance.

"Ow! Stupid armoured window..."

To his totally justified (and assumed correct) query, the stranger gave him a reply that was incomprehensible. Yes, there was definitely something wrong with her, besides the animalistic appendages affixed to her body. Hugh concluded she must not have been right in the head – an award winning hypothesis that was verified by the way she slammed herself against a shutter. A nutter hits a shutter and falls down into the gutter. Classic tale...

He stifled a laugh, but remembered his face must be displaying something that betrayed his schadenfraude anyway. Hugh tried to redirect his thoughts and decided to have another go with the name thing, “Tch. If you can't write it down it's not a name! How bad a concussion do you have?” Hugh dared take a few steps closer to the crazy girl.

If she couldn't even make it through some perimeter defences, then he was beginning to doubt his earlier assessment that she had caused the commotion here. That made him, despite her appearance, bold enough to move in, “I am Pix. Pi-ks. That's something we sane people call each other.” Sane as far as an organisation training super-villains would accept, “So what's your name?”

"Well some call me the Blue Lantern, many refer to me as a hero I guess, but I prefer being called the Teen Lantern myself and I don't think these belong to you?" Up in the sky about a yard up behind the two now stood erect a teenager with a blue mask on. He was floating with a bright blue aura all around him and a Green Lantern'esk costume on. It was Night Hawk's new recruit and really Lantern or Hope new recruit too, Mark Rowan, but he was disguised at the moment. He had heard the rumble in the street while soaring overhead and came to check it out. The powerring on his middle finger was granting him silent flight, which was why Pix didn't realize he was above him. Mark had also witnessed the girl's attempt at a robbery you could say just now and was determined to nip that in the bud as well. In addition to returning the stolen gems, which were now sitting in a light blue bubble that was connected to his ring by a long strand of light. Mark was attempting to commander the stolen merchandise as the bag slowly flew towards him in the blue bubble. "Now I really hope we can go about this without any violence guys. All you gotta do is stop trying to break into people's businesses and let me return this stuff and well call it even, kay?" Mark really hoped they would take the offer, he had never taken on two opponents before without back-up.

Veedra had no idea what either of these guys were talking about. The smell of the food was driving her nuts.

"Go away stupid armour!" she cried, before grabbing the shutter and transforming her body to her demon self before yanking the shutter off like you would a piece of paper off a toilet roll. "Better!"

She took another run up and this time she flew through the window and landed on a table, smashing it into matchsticks. She then began to lumber to the counter, thrusting a large front paw into the glass cake cabinet and grabbing a pawful of cake.

Hugh practically jumped out of his pixelated skin when another voice replied. Turning on his heel, his one-eighty did not reveal the speaker until he looked a little up. Damn, company. Even worse than that, a Lantern. A Lantern!? The amateur villain had only just recovered from his last surprise, and now he was hit with this? Suddenly coming out without backup seemed a very bad idea. He would apologise for all the horrible things he blamed the others for if they would just save him from this- wait. Was that Lantern blue?

… They come in blue?

As his hard earned loot drifted away, Pix gave a forlorn look but was too intimidated to take it back. His mind was preoccupied by the simultaneous thoughts of what jail he'd wind up at and whether he was in an episode of 'Mighty Morphing Lantern Rangers' right now. Being that there was no sign of the Red, Black, Yellow, and Pink Lantern he felt it unlikely.

All his fears were undone, however, when the young hero made a very generous offer. Pix tried not to look too visibly relieved but his face switched from (T_T) to (^_^) rather quickly. He was gonna walk home a free crook. Or so he thought when the mental-case beside him insulted the guy and tore free the shutters.

She underwent a transformation sequence that made Hugh wonder whether he was safer with her or the hero. This was going to be one of those nights wasn't it? The girl completed her demonstration of 'exactly the wrong thing to do, ever' and began eating. Pix was left to pick up the pieces.

“Err, she's a little not-right-in-the-head if you haven't noticed. Albeit she looks like a bit of a demon right now, but maybe- Sorry, am I going colour-blind or are you blue?” These were the questions the people demanded answers to!

As the Blue Lantern finished speaking the girl once again went for the window except this time she transformed into a beast before breaking through the window and entering the store. "Ok, that was weird even for me." Then the cube guy responded by saying she was a little mixed up and then seemed interested in as to why Mark was blue. "Ya, I'm a Blue Lantern, relative of the Greens, but far from it. Now if you'll excuse me...." That being said, the ring-slinger pointed his power ring inside the store and formed a large rake that only got bigger as it extended from his ring and headed towards the demon before slamming down in front of her and pulling her back towards the window and himself, away from the sweets. "Hey, what I just say about breaking into peoples stores? That's BAD, very bad demon girl." As Mark spoke he continued to float over both of them outside the building and was holding the loot in his left hand while keeping his ring hand pointed at the demon while his construct disappeared. His ring was sensing the presence of avarice AKA the emotion of greed coming from what used to be the girl and a hint fear from the other one.

Finding herself bowled over by the rake, she was first surprised then very angry.

"Bad? I'm hungry. I must eat! Who do you think you are??" she cried, before roaring. "Food is meant to be eaten! You're not having my food!"

She shrunk down to half-human form again, leapt towards the side of the building, climbing up before launching herself at the Lantern, snarling.

As TL dragged her back towards him, suddenly, the girl shrank back to human size and slipped in between his construct. She's a slippery one that's fore sure. Then as he attempted to try and morph his construct into a hand to catch her she leaped onto the side wall and crawled up the building before jumping off of it towards the Blue Lantern. Mark didn't even have time to get up a shield and instead just blocked normally while going wide-eyed as she tackled down the Lantern and planted him hard on the ground below. His blue aura struggling against her as he attempted to keep the girl off of him by separating her body from his with a forearm placed against her upper chest just below the neck and using his ring hand to hold back one of her hands while all the while beefing up his aura shielding.

"Ughh, calm down and get off! That food isn't yours to begin with. If you're hungry, I'll buy you something to eat, but you need to get OFF ME!" As Mark spoke his eyes glowed blue, but he knew he had to keep his cool or his power would falter. Although his ring was reporting that this girl wasn't doing the same. Her greed had now merged with rage and every moment Mark assumed that he wasn't dead yet she was getting angrier. Meanwhile, the bag of goods he had been holding fell to the ground after being tackled and was now laying a few feet away from him with the teen a little too busy to procure them.

A relative of the Green Lanterns? Even if that wasn't to be taken literally, it still sounded kinda lame. The way Pix figured it, here was a Blue Lantern, people with mostly the same powers as the Greens, but he'd never heard of them. Surely that then spoke of their lack of efficiency compared to the ones criminals on Earth all knew and feared? A knock-off Lantern!

Impressions were just that though, without basis. The rake Teen Lantern had made seemed plenty strong. Hugh was tempted to leave, but that demon character wasn't settling down at all. Instead she broke into action and went in on the offensive. Oh. It looked as if she was going to eat him. A turn of events best expressed by Marvin the Martian – 'Isn't that lovely? Hmm?'

The hero had gotten himself owned! That was all the proof Pix needed to confirm his suspicions. These Blues lived in the shadows of their Green superiors. Certainly worth defying. The confiscated bag of swag was suddenly unguarded. Little time was wasted. He no longer had a reason to second guess his actions. A slate of pixels formed under him before he took flight. Swiftly his hand grabbed the bag as he elevated himself higher, over the two combatants.

Turns out he didn't need his team-mates after all. The nutcase down there had just proved herself far more capable, “Later Teen Lantern. Good luck with being a phony.” Pix lay down with his bag on the levitating platform, the pixels shifted to form handholds. He would be travelling fast after all.

Veedra continued to struggle with this blue energy using humanoid and snarling, determined to make sure he knew that she was in charge... or at least she did until something he said got through to her.

"Buy me? Huh?"

She rolled off him and sat crouched a short way off. She tilted her head.

"You mean... food isn't just... there to grab...? How...?"

She then looked around her, really looked and finally realised something she'd not noticed in her joy at finding new things to break. She'd never been anywhere like this in the demon world... could it be that her mother had finally succeeded in sending her to the human realm? It must be... In that case... what did she do now? She stood up and then walk over to the Lantern, offering a hand to help him back to his feet.

"Where... I... this isn't my world!" she cried, suddenly very nervous. "I don't know... what do I do?" she asked the Lantern.

As the girl rolled off of Mark he took a few deep breaths. She was a feisty one, or rather, she was. "How? I don't know how things work where you come from, but you can't just take what doesn't belong to you." It was at that time that Mark looked around for the blocky dude and saw a slight outline of him wayyy off in the distance. He was getting away with the loot and TL was stuck with this demonic girl. He could let that guy get away or he could give chase to him and leave the demon girl. The demon girl seemed like the more obvious choice, but he hadn't failed a mission yet and he didn't want to start now.

The girl then walked over to the Blue Lantern and extended her hand helping him up, as she made contact with his ring hand the ring immediately reported her shift in mood. It had transferred from rage to fear. Mark wondered why it kept reporting her mood so much, as compared to others? Maybe it was because she was so primal in nature that her emotions were stronger and less clouded than others? In any case, Teen Lantern didn't have time to waste catering to her. He had just figured out how to kind of kill two birds with one stone and he had to move fast. As he spoke his next few words, suddenly, all around the girl and himself a large blue machine was being built out of a sapphire light construct. "Listen, I'm an agent of Hope. Meaning I want to help you and I'll try to help explain and figure out everything that happened to you later, I promise, but right now we have to go catch this other guy who also took something that didn't belong to him. So what I need you to do is relax, help me catch him if you can, and most of all..." The machine then finished building and revealed itself to be a jet with a two person cockpit. Then as Mark accessed the hard light control panel, it locked onto the little dot in the sky that was Pix and fired off it's boosters before taking off after the thief at speeds of 345 mph. "...hold on tight!"

OC: And cue chase scene.

Ah. The ocean was coming into view. Within a few short minutes Pix would drift over the harbour and make for base. He'd make sure he got credit for the raid, throw the name 'Lantern' around without mentioning colour, and then have a rest that the wicked so craved. It hadn't turned out a bad night at all. May have taken a momentary dire turn, but alls well that ends well.

A noise caused him to turn. Pix squinted at the horizon behind him (< .<) to try and identify whatever that was accelerating towards him. Don't be blue, don't be blue, don't be blue. For crying out loud! It was Teen Lantern again. Unless the demon girl really had eaten him and then stolen his ring. But that possibility was perhaps an even worse scenario than the first. If she was going to try and headbutt a building, imagine her flying a jet into its side.

The streets were his only chance. Find a hiding spot. That monster of a construct would have difficulty following him if the passageways were small. Despite the discouraging amount of speed it was closing the gap with, Pix knew he could be more versatile. Unless he just goes back to normal. Argh, this is a nightmare! Fake Lanterns weren't supposed to be this tenacious. Hugh was beginning to find his fear anew.

As he passed the church steeple he took a right angle. Next he descended in height, first over some piddling traffic during the early-morning run, then across a parkway and down some village streets. Where were the damn alleyways!!!

Mark was gaining on him, but at some point the target obviously knew he was on his tail. Kind of hard to miss a giant blue jet I guess? As TL closed in Pix veered right and Mark followed, making a very sharp turn himself. "I hope you don't get motion sickness!" The jet then did a quick downward spiral after Pix as he dropped down and picked up speed as they went through the parkway. The Nighthawk was making sure to weave in between trees and fly over huge patches of them. Then as they reached streets at some points Mark had to completely fly the jet sideways to make it fit. Teen lantern had to just keep hoping that he would catch him or else the construct would fail under all this pressure.
