«««SKILL SET»»»

Main Power Origins: Tech

Powers
Specialized Bounty Hunter's Gear: Mystery is equipped with a unique set of gear that she used as a bounty hunter in her time offworld. Some of this gear is standard to the profession, but some is custom made equipment.

  • Snake Eyes: A custom built, medium-to-long range rifle of mixed Earthly and alien design. The weapon is what is referred to as a "slugthrower" in the interstellar arms market, which essentially means that it's just a traditional firearm that uses physical ammunition rather than energy-based rounds. Snake Eyes has two sight configurations and two magazines, each with a different type of ammunition that correlates to one of its two firing modes:

    • "Rattler" Mode: Medium-range firing mode. This firing mode has a minimum range of about 40 feet, and a maximum of about 120 feet, making shots at a slight disadvantage when made from a distance lesser or greater than the provided minimum and maximum. Rattler mode uses explosive shells, which explode on impact and are no more powerful than a standard fragmentation grenade, in terms of force. The weapon's sight configuration in this mode is akin to standard ironsights, relying primarily on Mystery Anne's own sense of sight.
    • "Cobra" Mode: Long-range firing mode. With an optimal range of 300-3,000 feet, this configuration is best suited for extremely long range, precise shooting. The ammunition used in this mode is made of an undisclosed metallic alloy, making it incredibly light but with incredible stopping power, easily capable of piercing armor up to six inches thick. The sights of this configuration rely on holographic magnification, an advanced alien variation with unusual clarity even at maximum distances.

  • Snake's Fang: A blade that appears to be silicone and dull at first glance. However, with the press of a button, the blade alights a bright red color, the edge now a pulsing hot plasma. The heat is well contained, and the blade can not only cut through weaker metals, but can be used to parry similar weapons. The blade itself is similar in size and shape to a standard bowie knife.
  • Cliffjumpers: Special altitude-adjustment modules attached to Misty's boots. In layman's terms, they're rocket boots. The thrusters are not designed for long-distance flights, especially not within atmospheres, as they can overheat from overuse. Short term flights, and rocket-assisted jumps, however, are well within the realm of possibility for the Cliffjumpers. On a single burst, they could be used to make a 50-foot vertical jump.
  • Sunday Best: While fashionable, Misty's red cloak is also a well-disguised, flexible force shield projector. When the cloak perceives damage in the form of kinetic force, extreme heat, or corrosive materials, it "hardens" in response, solidifying in place temporarily and projecting a force shield comprised of blue electromagnetic energy. The shield can take about five tons of force before breaking, and can withstand temperatures up to 2,200 degrees Fahrenheit. When secured in a hooded configuration, the open space in front of Misty's face can harden and protect her from the vacuum of space.
  • Anklebiters: A pair of unassuming bolas, that hide more advanced alien technology, as with most of Mystery-Anne's gear. The bolas are "smart" tech, and use a combination of heat-seeking infrared sensors and AI-driven mini-thrusters to seek out a target and incapacitate them by wrapping tightly around their legs. The cords of the bolas are made of thin but incredibly hardy and flexible depleted promethium cables, making them nigh-impossible to cut through or break. Only very strong individuals would be able to break this material.

Skills

  • Sharpshooter: Naturally, Misty is a great shot with a marksman's weapon, especially her favored armament, Snake Eyes. While the weapon is well made and packs quite the punch, Misty does a lot of heavy lifting herself. She can pick off a target from almost any distance within which she has line of sight, but her accuracy naturally falls off after exceeding the optimal maximum distance of her weapon. Her accuracy extends to almost any ranged weapon she picks up, however, and aside from rifles has a lot of experience using handguns and more archaic weapons such as bows.
  • Duelist: Taking foes from a distance may be Misty's combat preference, but she is also quite handy with a blade. Unwieldy things like swords or axes may not be her style, but she can trade blows with the best of them when using a short bladed weapon, such as a knife or dagger.
  • Tracker: Misty is a bounty-hunter by trade. Where there is a trail to follow, even in the most minimal sense, she can find and stick to it like a fish to water. She is a master of stalking her prey.
  • Rogue: Despite taking the most direct approach with most of her jobs, Misty is no stranger to skulking in the shadows. She has a lithe frame and a high level of natural dexterity, so staying out of sight is no issue for her.

Abilities

  • Flawless vision
  • Naturally dexterous
  • Physically fit

Physical Weaknesses

  • Still Just Human: Cliché as it is, it still applies in Mystery-Anne's case. She lacks bulletproof skin, super strength, or a (natural) ability to fly. She isn't immune to illness or poison, and her endurance is not limitless.
  • Limited Shots: Misty's main weapon, Snake Eyes, requires ammunition to use. Were she to run out of ammunition, she'd be dead in the water at range, and would need to either close the distance and expose herself to danger or find another, possibly less effective weapon to use in the meantime.

Mental Weaknesses

  • Distrusting: In her line of work, Misty has been backstabbed and double-crossed more times than she can count. This can make her hard to work with, as she believes that everyone has an angle and an ulterior motive. When she's right, she's right, but when she's wrong, it can certainly damage a working relationship.
  • Snakes: Misty has an irrational (and completely ironic) fear of actual snakes. She does her best to keep this under wraps, for obvious reasons.

Equipment

  • Gear listed above (Snake Eyes, Snake's Fang, Cliffjumpers, Sunday Best, and Anklebiters)
  • Deepspace-capable communicator
  • Tracking nodes
  • Various weapon and gear holsters
  • Worn leather satchel

«««CEREBRAL PROFILE»»»

Personality
Admittedly, Misty is a bit... emotionally and mentally stunted. While she lived a fair amount of her childhood on Earth, with her family, she spent the entirety of her formative years ripped away from that and thrust into the dangers of deep space. She can be very no-nonsense, serious, and reclusive, and prefers solitude to company. She's aged well past her years, but there is childish wonder and youth inside. Somewhere.

For obvious reasons, Misty can be very awkward in social situations, separate from her work. She isn't used to it, and isn't sure she likes being around people her age, but a part of her also gets quite excited when other people take interest in her beyond needing her skills. As such, she secretly yearns to have friends and other positive connections, but is a bit too afraid to take the leap toward making them.
«««PERSONAL BACKGROUND»»»

Family Members: Patty Wilkinson (Mother, Deceased). Nathan Wilkinson (Father, Deceased). Hannah-Georgina Jameson (Sister, Deceased). Unknown Distant Relatives (Descendants of Hannah-Georgina)
Place of Origin: Wilkinson Ranch, Texas

History
1882. Nathan Wilkinson had only just built a fine new house on a large property in the northwest part of Texas, intent on raising cattle to feed his growing family. Shortly after moving his expectant wife, Patty, into the new house, they found themselves the fresh new parents of a pair of beautiful twin girls- the eldest by two minutes, Hannah-Georgina, and the one they didn't expect to be there at all, Mystery-Anne. While she was unexpected, the bundle of joy was nonetheless seen as a blessing.

Growing up, Misty (as her mother often called her) felt a bit as though her older sister Hannah was the favored twin. If not by their parents, then at least by the powers that be- Hannah's face was clear of freckles, her eyes twinkled like stars without even trying, and she could always keep every hair on her head in perfect form. Misty couldn't help but feel jealous of her, and as a young child, this naturally led to loads of temper tantrums. Misty had a favorite hiding spot- a place out from the house, under some trees in a natural den of sorts. Unoccupied by animals, it was quiet and peaceful. It was also just close enough to the house that her parents didn't mind her going there to cool off, once in a while.

Misty doesn't rightly remember why she was mad that last time. She was only about eight years old, and something her sister did... or just how she was had set her off. All she could remember was sprinting to her hiding spot, and diving in as she always did. What was different this time, however, was that Misty's hiding spot had since become infested with vipers. In complete abject terror, the young girl fled and ran in a direction- any direction- as fast as possible. Unfortunately, this took her further away from the house, into the fields, into the darkness of night. It was the last time she'd ever be with her family.

When Misty ran into the field, light overtook her, from the sky above. She was lifted off the ground, and into a spaceship. At first, the alien scoundrels who abducted her intended to sell her off for a pretty penny, but one of the crewmates saw potential in a person so young. She put her foot down and claimed the girl as her protégé. Misty was terrified, but seeing as she had no choice, she agreed.

Eight years later, and Misty had become a valued member of that crew. She was handy with a rifle, a prodigy in the eyes of some, and she could bag a bounty with the best of them. But she still felt like she didn't belong, even if she had grown close to her mentor. She'd become almost like another sister to her, an older sibling and a confidant. She knew how Misty felt, and empathized with her. When Misty's mentor became the captain of the crew, she took the Earthling aside and made a deal with her. While everyone was sleeping, she could take her personal corvette and get back to where she belonged. Misty was hesitant, at first, but agreed and said her final goodbye.

On the flight back to Earth, Misty encountered problems in deep space. An unexpected blockage in the hyperspace lane sent the corvette hurtling off course, and through a worm hole. When Misty came through the other side, she was able to continue her flight, but the ship was damaged and she was forced to make a crash landing upon arriving on Earth. And beyond that, Earth was... different. When she passed through that wormhole, it sent her through not only space, but time, jettisoning her ever further into the future. She wasn't sure where to start, and had a long way to go in understanding her place in this new world.
