Hair: Rosethorn’s hair is bright, shimmering mixture of red, orange, pink and yellow. It sparkles in even the dimmest lights; it’s almost like she’s got highlights that just won’t quit. It falls down past her shoulders in wavy, crinkly tresses.

Eyes: Rosethorn’s eyes are a deep green, like two jewel emeralds. They are hard, yet soft enough to present an inviting allure.

Gender: Rosethorn is a cisgender woman, meaning she was born female and presents herself as a feminine-behaving woman. Her personal pronouns are she, her, and hers.

Height & Weight: Rosethorn stands at about five feet and five inches in height, and weights around one-hundred twenty pounds. Her body stature, by most accounts, is average for a young woman her age.

Other Traits: Rosethorn’s skin is a deep tanned color, making it more near to brown than to white. This skin color is a deep contrast to her red hair and green eyes, but it is her monster race that makes this phenotypical makeup possible.





Powers:

• Supernatural Beaty: The power to be supremely beautiful and use it to affect others. As a monster, Rosethorn possesses an aura about her that makes her extremely appealing to all those she encounters. This power’s strength lies not in her physical looks, although she is conventionally pretty by some standards, but instead lies in her race. Most people (regardless of gender) are taken by her monster beauty the first time they meet/see her; only those with weak minds constantly find themselves enamored and stunned by her looks.
  
  
  
  1. Mesmerizing Presence – Rosethorn’s mere presence is sometimes enough to effect the minds of those around her, their adoration making it easier for them to bend to her will.
     
  
  
  
• Telepathy: The power to mentally receive and transmit information. Rosethorn is a monster who can read the minds of others. She communicates with others using this power. At present, her abilities are still developing – she can only communicate telepathically with those in a twenty-five foot radius of her, and those with strong minds and wills are subject to block her out or resist her suggestions.
  
  
  
  1. Emotion Manipulation – Rosethorn can make people feel emotions as if  they are naturally occurring, although really they are manifestations of her influence.
     
  2. Suggestion – Rosethorn can implant ideas into people’s minds, making them believe that their attitudes and behaviors are their own. This power is strengthened when used with her supernatural beauty; someone who is already infatuated with her finds it hard to resist her suggestion, and when her hair is let down or she is looking into the eyes of a person it adds more weight to her suggestions. Skills: Rosethorn is skilled with a bow and arrow, but is nowhere near mastery level. She can hit a mark pretty well up to thirty-feet away; beyond that, her accuracy begins to dwindle though she may still come close sometimes. Rosethorn is also a skilled staller – she has become great and using conversation, flirtation and charm to buy herself time in tense situations.

Weaknesses: Rosethorn is weak by a lot of people’s standards. She has no super strength or agility, she is not very fast, and she bruises easily. Even though she’s a monster, she is mortal, meaning she can be killed in all ways that humans can be killed. Her race is also a weakness in some regards because she cannot hide who she is, and monster hunters can spot her easily in a crowd. Rosethorn can be an emotionally-driven individual sometimes, and this disrupts her ability to control her powers. As for her powers, Rosethorn finds extremely headstrong people to be the biggest nuisance in her line of work; they prove to be the biggest challenges to her supernatural powers and cause her to think of improvisation maneuvers on the fly.

Personality: Ariana is generally a docile spirit. She tries to go through life as quietly as possible, only making noise when she needs to. Because of who she is, a monster, she has internalized many messages about what she can and cannot do. She does not believe she is capable of having friends, for example, because friends are not something that monsters are believed to have. She tries to fight the idea that she will become a bad person, even though the word “monster” has become synonymous with someone who does terrible things. Ariana is most fired up when she feels the need to prove something, whether that be to herself or to others. Because of how passive her powers are and her extreme lack of any physical prowess, Ariana fears becoming someone’s tool. She wants to believe that even though her monster abilities can be a great support she can also be a great being all on her own, independent of someone else. Unfortunately, she is not completely convinced because no situation has arisen to let her test that theory.

Strengths: Ariana’s biggest strength would obviously be her supernatural abilities. Outside of those, there is a strength to be had in her ability to survive. It’s not easy going through life being hated because you’re a monster, and yet she has. Her nomadic lifestyle has earned her valuable survival skills as well. Ariana also finds strength in being  her own woman – although she may not be able to lift heavy things or jump great distances, she is still herself and endowed with her own abilities, and that’s got to count for something.

Interests/Habits: Ariana is interested in putting an end to her nomadic life, finding a stable living situation that includes friends and a romantic partner, and improving her usage of her powers. She has no notable habits because as a nomad she’s not had time to develop a routine that would yield habits.

Place of Origin: Castiel, a small village located in a valley in the northern mountains
History: Tanya had woken up one morning in her bed at home, groggy and unable to remember the events from the night before. Her body felt odd, as if she had made love; the only problem was that she did not remember such an act or consenting to such. She feared what had taken place in her bed but took solace in the fact that no one in Castiel would know. That was, until, her stomach grew round in the coming weeks.

Maiden Melrose was the talk of the town. The other villagers commented on how she was unwed and with child. Tanya wanted to protect her name, but felt less shame in being pregnant than she did in letting all know that she had been taken advantage of.

Her pregnancy was unnaturally quick. In just three months she looked as though she was ready to give birth. The village medic had read that monster pregnancies only took half the time that normal human pregnancies did because of the strength of the race, and when she told Tanya that it was most likely a monster growing inside of her the mother-to-be grew sick. It made sense now; some handsome monster had fooled her into believing that she wanted to lie with him and it resulted in her pregnancy. The thought of bringing his child – a monster, no less – into the world was a scary thought. While Tanya had contemplated ending her pregnancy early, it seemed she weighed her options for too long. She went into labor suddenly one night, and Ariana, with a head full of glimmering, fiery hair, was delivered almost an entire month early.

Growing up with a single mother who did not want her in a village that shunned her was difficult for Ariana. Well into her pre-teenage years Ariana was hidden from the other villagers by her mother; she was granted limited playtime outside and was never allowed to accompany her mother into the square. Tanya had a strange love for her daughter – she hated what she represented, but could not bring herself to loathe someone so beautiful. That was why Tanya continued to provide food and shelter for Ariana, but as she grew older and her powers began to manifest themselves the young monster would hear her mother’s true thoughts. “That sour reminder,” she would hear, “but, oh, is she dashing.” The superficial love that she knew her mom harbored for her would sting and drive Ariana to prove that she could be more than just a sour reminder and more than just a monster.

At age fourteen, Ariana would decide that she was too old to be cooped up in the house. She traveled to the village square one day alone, wearing clothes that revealed her tan skin and letting her signature hair rain down her back. As she walked, steeled and prepared to hear people’s thoughts about the monster that she was, Ariana was unpleasantly surprised to hear far worse than she had imagined. Several men were watching her and thinking of terrible things that they wished they could do to her. The thoughts frightened her and the young woman turned back for home with misty eyes. Realizing that she would never survive long in the world without some form of offensive self-defense, she convinced a hunter to train her in the skill of archery the very next day. (She also decided that she would now wrap her hair and dress in a robe before going out in public, just to divert attention away from herself.)

For the next couple of years, Ariana continued to come into her own. As her body matured, so did her powers and her archery. She now felt comfortable enough with going in public that she did it often, and even began to take up odd jobs to earn her own money and keep herself occupied. One day, when she was seventeen, a traveler came through Castiel after a visit to Jump City. The monster had heard his thoughts and knew that the city was rife with other beings that possessed supernatural powers. “They must be monsters too,” she had figured, and set off to visit Jump City for herself. The chance to be around other people like her was something that Ariana would not pass up on.

When she arrived there, she quickly learned that these other beings with supernatural powers were not monsters like her. They were their own species and races. Because Jump City had much more to offer than Castiel, though, Ariana decided to stay. In an effort to hide her true identity, she took up the name Rosethorn as an ode to her mother’s maiden name that Tanya had passed down to her.
