Ingrid found herself raising an eyebrow at the man's introduction. Considering his current circumstances, it was unlikely he still had that title in the eyes of those who cast him unto this world. Then again it wasn't uncommon for men like him to hold on to whatever pride they had even in unfortunate situations. She resisted the urge to challenge his declaration and just go along with it for now.
She replied, shaking his hand. "I had a feeling you were someone important. That was the only other identity you could possibly have if you were not a heinous criminal as you had claimed."
Once they were inside the car and on their way, Ingrid continued their conversation.
"I'm sure you are curious about our destination. In truth, where we are going depends entirely on you, Lord Cervus. But first, allow me make my intentions clear. I am assisting you on a whim because you are interesting me. And I, as a seeker of new knowledge, simply cannot ignore you. No more, no less. If you feel so inclined as to return the favor in the future, I will gladly accept, but it is not something you should worry too much about."
"I am certain that ever since your fate was sealed to be sent here, you have been thinking about what you would do. You mentioned you wished to return to your dimension. Talented as I am, it is not a matter I would consider to be my expertise. I do however have some idea of who might be able to assist you with that goal. That is one option among our possible destinations."
"If your objective though is not one that you are in a hurry to fulfill, there are places that can help you integrate with the unfamiliar society of this world. I can imagine plenty of things you've seen so far are foreign to you. If you are staying for a while, then it's best to gather information. In this regard, I can take you the library where you can study things yourself, or to an office of the government. Perhaps another blessing in coming here is that the current government is quite accommodating to special people like yourself. Just refrain from mentioning the part about criminals. There are limits to being open-minded."
Ingrid smiled briefly as she awaited his reply.
