Ares, Seraph Unit 0-B
===IDENTITY===
Full Name: Autonomous Retrologstics and Engineering Sapience prototype, Seraph Unit 0-B, Ares Catherine Kurasawa
Nickname(s): None
Codename: Ares
Alias(es): The Ghost of Sigma, The Crying Girl
Age: 2 (her appearant physical age is about 10, and her mental age is about 15.)
Classification: Gynoid
Affiliation: Heroic
===PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION===
Hair Color: Blue-green
Eye Color: Blue-green
Gender Female
Height: 4 foot 6 inches
Weight: 130 lbs (Her body is made of metal - it's a great deal heavier than a human girl's would be for her size)
Other Traits: Ares is flat as a board and narrow-built, her body very nearly masculine, like a girl who hasn't hit puberty yet. When her HALO is in use, ten short, spear shaped metal structures fan from her shoulderblades, and from each one of these a blue-green 'feather' of light appears and writhes around, ethereal in appearance. She appears mostly human, though her hair grows dark blue-green naturally, her eyes of the same color.
===POWERS===
Powers:Triduranium alloy is a fantastical metal, a paradoxical alloy that is durable, tough and almost magical in that no one can explain why it is so tough. Despite its essential inorganic nature, if worked and manipulated just right it has the potential to take on organic behavior like something akin to flesh while maintaining it's durability and inherent strength. This material is what makes up Ares's flesh, muscle structure, and skeletal frame. While designed to look like the real thing, her body is capable of withstanding brutal extremes; the vacuum of space, the crushing depths of the ocean, below freezing temperatures (4 kelvin) and intense flames capable of melting ordinary mundane metals (up to 5k celsius / 9k fahrenheit). The combination of materials known as Beskar iron and Tritanium make this alloy so strong, but it's the addition of a radioactive isotope known as Tritium-R4b2 as a catalyst that shifts it from something mundane and brings it to life (metaphorically speaking.)
As far as structural and physical strength is concerned, Ares is no featherweight. Her synthetic muscle structure, comprised of numerous nanoscopic braided strands of Triduranium-b alloy is grants her intense strength, a maximum lifting capacity that peaks out at 5 tons and intense durability, allowing her to withstand numerous immense impacts from physical sources. For example, she could withstand the impact from a speeding armored car but wouldn't be able to take more than three hits from an explosive device.
Matter Conversion Array - My First Alchemy kit!: This advanced device scavenged from the alien life form Ares was engineered from allows her to turn matter back and forth into energy with very little comparative cost to facilitate the action, and store information about the composition and design of things she has converted one way or the other, and assign energy values to their materials.She can't easily duplicate advanced alloys or complex chemicals and things, or at-all duplicate something she couldn't scan - like a magical artifact or something shielded from such indepth scanning. Think of it like a very fast, very advanced 3d printer that uses energy to do what it does instead of raw materials.
--Scan: She can scan an object and determine its composition and design, from part by part analysis to full-on atomic-scale analysis. Thing she cannot scan appear as holes in the scan.
--AMP: Advanced Medicine Protocol. She can synthesize and bond tissues, muscles, bone, nerve cells, blood, blood vessels, simulate chemical reactions in the body, you name it, letting her actually heal an injury, replace limbs, fabricate workable organs, or sustain life functions - and has the requisite extensive medical knowledge necessary to do so. By no means is this quick - it takes minutes or hours to do things like this and it's not cheap in terms of EMC (Energy-Matter Cell charges), but it certainly works. ((Note - a replaced limb is numb at first - it can take a few minutes to work feeling back into it, a bit like having a hand fall asleep.
HALO Generator type B prototype: This HALO generator, similar to Seraph's own, creates 10 'feathers' that allow her to glide and do other things. She can use them to grasp things and manipulate stuff as if she were doing so (at 5 ton strength) herself, even use them to strike like hammers or stab like spears. A tentacle is visible as a ribbon of blue-green light, and can be up to twenty feet long, or out to thirty feet in short (less than a second) bursts. They have only as much thickness or width as she desires.
--Shield!: She can broaden her tendrils and merge them at any point to create barriers, durable enough to deflect bullets or energy or stop them dead. There is no spoon.
--Locomotion: She can pull herself along with her wings, each tendril strong enough to lift or bear her full weight, and through doing so scale sheer surfaces, a ceiling, or on her skates achieve highway speeds by pulling herself along!
Skills:Ares had a more natural upbringing than her sister while in the Simulation she was immersed in for the last several years since her creation, so her skillset is more limited, but she is 'well rounded' - a gifted young woman who actually made it to her sophomore year in highschool at the age of 12 in her simulation before it ended, with a personal focus in english and social studies. She's good with people, and quite familiar with the written word.
When the simulation was drawing to a close, when things were starting to go to hell in the real world (the last six months or so), she gained superpowers - and learned to use them, when in fact her real-world specifications were being introduced bit by bit. She learned the basics of their use.
Ares has a great deal of medical knowledge from her Advanced Medicine Protocol, enough that she is effectively a world class medical doctor in terms of pure know-how and skill.
Weaknesses:Sonic attacks - No, I don't mean the blue fur-ball sonic. I mean attacks that cause shockwaves or sonic vibrations. For all the durability of her flesh and skeletal structure, the metals used within Triduranium a and b are susceptible to high frequency sounds and any form of shockwave. They can range from sustaining actual damage to her being depending on the strength and force, to affecting her sense of balance, temporary paralysis loss of hearing or sight, nausea and loss of consciousness.
Energy draining attacks - Auxiliary functions not withstanding, Ares relies on the living energy supplied by the mysterious power core salvaged from the alien machine to her core capacitors to use her MCU and Halo. An energy drainer could cut her short rather quickly, even disable most of her auxiliary functions and equipment, which, while back up and secondary stuff can provide her with various details on tracking and locating people or even gathering details on people. Her core itself where the actual living energy is contained is shielded - it cannot be drained, but she falls inert until she can recharge her capacitors.
Overload - Ares can also absorb electrical energy to refill her core capacitors more quickly from power lines or from an actual generator but too much of a good thing can be very bad and cause an overload! While not that dangerous, if she does happen to overload on the juice, she basically goes into a standby mode while her battery vents the excess into her environment. One of the safety measures installed to prevent the battery from going critical mass, it takes several hours for a full vent to complete and an overload takes roughly half a day.
Prototype - 'Energy' attacks (like starfire's blasts), exotic attack forms (like positron beams), or magic attacks (like conjured hellfire) are more effective against her than other attack forms would be. It is a design flaw inherent in the Seraph series' base material - triduranium - and a side effect of the fact she is a prototype. Her wings were designed to put up with such things much better, but even then such an attack would carry more clout.
EMP/EM Weaponry: Chaotic, intense distortions in magnetic fields are her achilles heel, and can cut right through her wings and damage her body. It is the 'chaotic' that is the operative factor - she isn't made of a material that sticks to magnets, and has some shielding that protects her critical components in any case, but she can't handle an EMP blast or weapons that utilize an EMP's properties.
Tech and Magic - She cannot scan magical items or a magical creature. She gets confused, sparse, static-spread readings from an attempt doomed to fail, and the data she gets is corrupted. A person who can use magic can likewise foul up a scan of even a mundane object... if they want to and make a conscious effort (shrouding the object in a dull blue glow). A magical being that consciously decides to let her scan it can let the data remain.
Too complicated! - she can make components to make a complicated machine or device, but she can't actually create a circuit board - though she could assemble the tools and materials to do so!
Hippocrates Protocol - It is against her programming to kill. She cannot deliberately do so - it isn't a matter of not wanting to... it is a matter of NOT BEING ABLE TO, at bone level. Sure her punch could tear a man's head off, but it would pull and hurt him instead without her even being able to help it. Sure her Halo wings could tear a man in half - but she couldn't muster the strength to manage it. She is UNABLE TO ACT in a circumstance that would result in a sentient death - no matter if the sentient is flesh and blood or artificial. She also CANNOT deliberately flaw her use of the AMP in order to harm or weaken her patient. She MUST act to the full extent of her abilities to see them restored in truth. There is no rule that says she must use it on the wounded OR continue to heal someone past a certain point, nor is she prohibited from targeting some areas to mend over others.
Small Stature - Seriously. She's itty-bitty. While she does have 5 tons of strength, she couldn't outmuscle someone bigger of equal strength - strength is all very well but leverage is just as important.
Ferrokinesis - She's made of metal, folks. Someone who can control metal would have a serious upper hand on her. Magnetism isn't the issue however - she is made of non-magnetic materials.
Equipment:Advanced Core Capacitors - Ares has several powerful energy capacitors around her alien power core, allowing her to store enough energy to power an apartment complex for over a year - converting energy back and forth into matter is pretty fantastic and requires tons of extra processing power, and that means quite a lot of energy!
WARD High-energy Storage capacitors - Ares's EMC storage units are sealed, closed-system containers with finite storage. The energy contained therein is NOT usable in any other way. They contain a total of 2500 EMC.
Infolink Telecommunications Package - Ares's Infolink Telecom package allows her to receive and transmit messages without generating audible sounds by utilizing frequencies within the subvocal ranges as well as specialized cochlear implants to pick up on these sub vocal ranges. Combined with her Eye-know retinal implants, Ares is also capable of "highjacking" wideband and tightband signals signals allowing her to utilize computer terminals and other objects that are within her line of sight. (It also has internet access!)
Dynamic Evolution and Versatility Adaptation Systems: Abbreviated as D.E.V.A., the Dynamic Evolution and Versatility Adaptation Systems are a series of nanotech upgrades. Requiring properly calibrated D.E.N.A (Dynamic Evolution and Nanotechnology Augmentation) canisters, each upgrade as a whole works into her systems, allowing her to improve upon her old limitations over time, increase her operational capacity and add new sub-systems. Essentially, it allows her to evolve and overcome old physical limitations, as long as the appropriate canisters are applied. Sort of like a meta-human.
High-velocity Hoverblades: Made for high speed movement over mixed terrain, these advanced hoverblades were made from the same alloys as Ares herself and generate a field around her feet, providing a quasi-frictionless surface she can ride, even use conventionally as she controls which direction is frictionless, and which provides traction.
===PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE===
Personality:Ares is a kind, gentle-natured youth raised to be considerate of others, and seeks to build other people up instead of seeking personal glory of her own. She is thoughtful and subtle, quick to anger and to forgive. She's a bit naive maybe, and maybe not the most intelligent person you'd ever meet despite all her sensors and superhuman abilities, but it's that special kind of simple - the kind that's difficult to fool, that works hard, that takes in what she's told and absorbs it ferociously, punching ceaselessly at her own ignorance. Her work ethic is her strongest positive trait - she won't rest until she's done what she set her mind to.
The girl is genial - quick to make friends, and slow to make judgements. Ares speaks her mind on a subject only after some careful thought. This gives her a thoughtful, distant sort of base expression, her eyes dull like she's spacing out or simply waiting for things to make sense as a faint smile plays on her lips. Playing poker with her is... not a good idea. That sweet, empty expression and her tendancy to approach things methodically and carefully would make her a fearsome player indeed who wins all your money off you, and then your shoes. Possibly your car too. She'd give your material things back of course... but she'd still have won them from you, thanked you for a good game, and wandered off to find something to do with 500 dollars. She'd probably return 5 hours later with every cent to ask you what she aught to do with it.
That said, she has a highly developed sense of right and wrong, and when her eyes slip into focus and narrow on someone she means business. That simple expression is equivalent to the sound of a pump-action shotgun priming a shell for mayhem - stuff's gonna go down.
Strengths:Ares tends to take facts as they are - she's not prone to neurosis nor susceptible to deception.
Ares can be remarkably perceptive and learns at a fantastic rate. Her memory is probably eidetic - that is, she remembers what she sees and hears, even if she doesn't understand what she saw or heard, and could describe exacting detail from a glance, or completely recreate them. Maybe that's because she's a gynoid, maybe not.
Ares is wee! She's quicker and more agile than someone bigger than her would be.
Interests/Habits:She is fascinated with the nature of matter and in the way things works, and is one of those unfortunately fated people whose destiny it is to be enchanted by just about everything around her - the shape, the structure, the why, the how...
She takes her purpose seriously - she was made to protect, to go into places another could not safely go to do what needs to be done, to save another from the clutches of death itself. She was made to be a guardian angel, and she pursues this mission with religious, childlike fervor and conviction.

===PERSONAL BACKGROUND===
Family Members: Seraph (Her elder sister), Core (her brother), Dr.Kurasawa (father)
Place of Origin:The vault, sub-basement lambda.
History:- Project S.E.R.A.P.H:
They say life is a precious commodity more precious than gold, more beautiful than diamonds. But some people see life as worthless, a simple means to an end - the wicked and vile who profit from the machinations of their works of death and destruction. Seraph was one such idea brought to fruition by these men and their desires and their greed. Enter the man known as Doctor Lee Kurasawa; a brilliant man with doctorates in metallurgy, bioengineering and cybernetics. A kind hearted man with talent and skill. These men, high ranking military officials, senators, governors, and important people that run fortune 500 companies. They all had secondary agenda's, thoughts and ideas on how to build a better bomb, or how to build a better viral contagion.
These idea's had risks and drawbacks; collateral damage, the risk of the virus making it back to their own soils or even becoming a world wide pandemic. What they needed was a median line, something that could be as dangerous as a bomb and could spread wide and far like a virus, insert itself into a population centre and begin to tear it down piece by piece. They needed something that was....not so obvious nor something heavy handed. What they needed was a humanoid doppleganger. They needed someone to spearhead the project and that man was Kurasawa. Of course they had to lie, had to spin a story that he was helping create a line of droids capable of supplementing relief and rescue forces, to bring sick or injured people out of hostile zones. It was the only way they could get him to agree to help. You see, Kurasawa was a pacifist a man who abhorred the thought of violence, seeing it as a way for the inbred and inept to settle their disputes. But this, this was something that could potentially save thousands of lives. Lower the potential mortality rate in high risk zones and otherwise ease the burden placed upon others.
To this end, he was brought to the Vault a military complex not unlike Roswell, New Mexico's famous (or infamous) Area fifty one also known as Groom Lake. It was built twelve miles into the earth's crust, with twenty four sub-basements spaced half a mile apart. The amount of people on staff was relatively small, a mere five thousand men and women; with a little more than three quarters of that composed strictly of armed personnel - guards and soldiers - stationed to keep the people inside safe but the atmosphere was more...depressing, like a prison with all the freedoms and lavishness of a high class hotel. It was an oppressive workplace and while some thrived, others where always nervous always watching their backs and feeling the icy stares of those tasked with guarding them.
If there was another name one could give that place. One could call this a man made tartarus; hell in physical earthbound form. Dr.Lee was placed at the halfway point. Sub-basement lambda, a place that encompassed metallurgy, cybernetics and robotics with sub-basement Mu encompassing bioengineering, alien artefacts and nanotechnology just below it. Kurasawa was tasked with putting a team together, comprised of the best and brightest people that the world never even knew existed. People were assembled, picked, based upon their record and their skill sets. Bio-engineers, chemists, exo-biologists, Kinesiologists, comunications specialists, mechanical engineers, roboticists, metallurgists and nanotech specialists. It was a crack team comprised of the best and brightest, tasked with the design of a realistic humanoid android that would be utilized for search and rescue missions, relief aid in hostile environs, etcetera, etcetera.
But the nature of this project they dubbed Seraph, had a darker side. One that by all means, would and could be considered a war crime. They went behind Kurasawa's back at the behest of their benefactors, salvaged alien technology; weapons and metals, and equipment were used. But drawbacks occurred within the project; the metals were too unwieldy, the weapons too bulky. It was Kurasawa that figured out a solution to the first problem and a second set of men and women to solve the second problem. In actuality, there were two teams working on this project; the one within the light and the one in the shadows. Kurasawa's introduction of tritium-r4b2 - a radioactive isotope - into a mixture of the metals known as Beskar and tritanium acted as a catalyst to make something called Triduranium-A; a different ratio resulted in a B variant that was harder and denser, but not as supple or flexible. These two organic metals made up the flesh, bone and muscle structure of their creation while intricate nano-technology combined with synthetic nerves and a brain, made up the nervous system, while blood vessels a heart, arteries and a pair of lungs made up the cardiovascular system.
The results of their combined work was a shell, distinctly feminine and female in shape and very much realistic to the touch and to the eye. She was as close in appearance to a women, as an actual human was. They just needed to give her a spark of life, get the heart pumping and the neurons firing and they'd have a working organic android. She was a first ever in the history of science, hell, mankind. And she was every bit as angelic looking as one could expect; this Sleeping Seraph and while they merely programmed her initially for rudimentary tasks. It wasn't enough. And eventually, they gave her an artificial intelligence that allowed her to watch and learn, much like an elementary student.
Her desire to learn many things was a quirk that most of the people couldn't have foreseen; she wasn't just interested in relief aid she was also interested in paediatrics, child care, cooking, self-defence and in people in general. Kind hearted would be one way to describe her, however inquisitive would be more appropriate. The thing's she would ask, day after day about how this works, or what does this do, or what does that taste like. But when the team took their breaks and slept the days fatigue away. Another team took their place.
This team was focused upon weapons testing and design. They did things to Seraph day after day, altered her body subtly, adding systems and sub-routines, fail-safes and other things that would go (hopefully), unnoticed by the day shift team. The tests themselves were brutal. They subjected Seraph to physical extremes; weapons testing, submerging her body in liquid nitrogen or even molten magma as a form of stress testing. This was merely the start of a long arduous battery of tests that would continue for roughly five more years before it would finally come to an end.
one year after creation
Seraph's life at this point was difficult and painful, not in a metaphorical stand point. Seraphs life was actually, literally painful. While Kurasawa and his team worked on her abilities to provide relief and additional aid to people within the country or over seas, their shadow worked on giving her the ability to sow fear and suffering within their enemies. Two different teams working on the same project. Each one shadowed the other, one without knowledge and one with knowledge. Two units were born from these tests and experiments and designs. The first was Seraph, known as unit zero. The second was Ares, known as unit one.
Much of Seraph's life was spent learning and studying and undergoing a variety of tests. She was tested in high stress simulations involving catastrophic events; earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and hurricanes to name a few. Her ability to locate trapped individuals, rescue them from under collapsed structures or retrieve them from within the heart of a raging inferno with accuracy and deftness was comparable to that of a highly trained rescue team. While her combat trials had her compared to a small battleship in terms of destructive power. It was no big surprise that those who funded this project could see the potential of the technology used in her creation, that the military applications and even the pharmaceutical ones; prosthetic limbs as well as replacement organs was a goldmine unto itself. But....greed in humans runs deep, deeper than the core of the earth and while it could solve many problems, they would hold back on it, use this knowledge for themselves and select people in their personal cadre.
Seraph's creator Kurasawa was however a smart man, minute changes to her mass and power outputs were easy enough to detect. And while he didn't do anything to alter them or to remove additions - this would have aroused suspicion - he did incorporate these changes into his designs and idea's however. He spent weeks and months of his free time making configurations to her systems, improving things the shadow team had changed or added. His most outstanding addition was the Plasma projection unit; a system that had originally been installed as a defensive countermeasure, but had been over the years, fine tuned into both it's shield and a sword.
Kurasawa however, while important to the project had proven to be a minor liability, an irritant in the eye, the fly in ones soup. In all of his intelligence, he hindered them slowly, in all of his wisdom he made it a goal to teach Seraph something about humanity, that life is meant to be cherished and protected. In hindsight, one cannot be sure if his lessons had taken as strong a hold as one would think. But, they had left an impact all the same that would lead her down a path, right or wrong? one cannot tell in such an early developmental stage but there it was, a thought, the ability to choose for herself; a small seedling that had taken root and began to develop it's first bud of life.
Second and third year; Sigma crisis/ beginning of the end.
The second and third year was a proverbial blur for Seraph, between testing her reflexes and reaction times for when she would eventually be required to act and react to high stress situations, to live fire exercises, where she was required to weather blow after blow from small arms fire, to things as big as full blown artillery. Seraph had very little to almost no time available to herself where she could reflect and muse over her father's words and teachings. It was really too much to absorb at once, her metaphorical gears were turning and what seemed like an hours worth of thinking, quickly turned into a years worth. This was the stress and wear she suffered from the trials and training and tests she had to endure. It took it's toll on her maturing psyche, left her drained and eventually she snapped one day.
The incident was at first called the Sigma crisis and now, after what happened down there, it was called the Seraph's blood incident and it was just a small taste of things to come. The team, that is to say, the shadow team had brought Seraph down to sub-basement Sigma for more tests, an examination and then live combat drills. These weren't paper targets they had asked her to attack, these were people, living, breathing people, armed with weapons. She was tasked with their obliteration, these terrorists armed with top of the line military hardware; from anti-tank weapons to automatic weapons, to anti-material rifles. But something wasn't right, they didn't seem to be all there, like the lights were on but no one was home. The ear-splitting sound of thunder ripped it's way through the chamber they put her in, as a storm of lead and explosives battered her like a thousand raging fists.
She did nothing, as she weathered the storm that assailed her, as those high explosive rockets slammed her up against a wall, she still continued to do nothing. Even when she was on the verge of breaking down from the trauma inflicted upon her from the anti-tank weaponry, she did nothing. It wasn't until they decided to introduce a new target for her would be targets that she acted. And she acted with such ferocity, such disregard for her surroundings that...the chamber couldn't withstand the anger as she burned her way through the four feet of impact resistant plating and in a berserk fit, attacked the personnel. But it couldn't rightly be called anger, yet the sheer thorough obliteration of everything (there wasn't even a single bone left) what else could you call it? But rage? Perhaps it was insanity, or....her thoughts had been crossed and she saw these people, all these people as hostile forces.
Whatever the cause, and it was later determined to be her blood, she had caused severe damage to the entire facility, so much so that people had to be...relocated to different sub-basements. But what had been the catalyst for her episode, records would later show that it was the simple introduction of a crying child that was never even there. There wasn't even a recording she had merely imagined the child, a hallucination of some type that had set her against everyone and everything with such intensity, that her screams could still be heard echoing within Sigma like it left an imprint, a ghostly echo that lingers and lingers.
The ones responsible for bringing her into down there for testing covered it up and...forbade anyone from relocating to the Lambda facility where she lived. They cleaned her up, hid the...damage she had sustained and wiped her memories of that day. They were done testing her, or rather after all was said and done, refused to go near her again out of fear and apprehensive paranoia that they had gotten lucky she didn't start with them first. The second and third year started off stressful and ended with a bang. Seraph was at least free of the Shadow team....but would she ever be free from this lively tomb, six miles below the earth's crust?
The beginning of Ares's story is not unlike Seraph's own, for she is the second incarnation of the Seraph project - a prototype assembled in secret by Lee Kurasawa himself after the Sigma incident, when he realized that his daughter, the creation of the Seraph project, was not wholly his own any longer - that she was being corrupted by the greed and cruelty of men. He saw his first daughter... and knew she was not wholly his own, so he decided to make Ares - to balance the scales, a secret project to save the soul of works of his hands.
The assembly of his second daughter was a trial in and of itself, but he had done it once before - that simplified matters somewhat, and through the sweat of his brow he was able to sire a working prototype over the course of ten months - Ares. But the environment of the facility beneath area 51 was not a suitable environment for a child - and judging from the developing mind of Seraph, that was what he had created. So, he set up a means to raise the child without her ever having to live in that mortal level of Tartarus - a virtual world created as a simulation, created solely for the girl's benefit as he continued working on her, refining her month by month, taking Seraph's own data as a basis for the tolerances of the girl's Triduranium construction.
Ares's childhood was filled with wonder - from the moment she could walk, she was fascinated by everything she could get her tiny hands on. She was gifted, and her motor skills developed at an astounding rate. She and her twin brother, the boy that was the subject of Project Core, lived a happy life raised by their dad.
He alone developed her systems as her mind was raised in accelerated time, from birth to a natural childhood in the simulation he had created for her. She was kept her far from the pain of his works as he tested and retested, trial after trial. He was a man aflame - obsessed, and through the years as he grew bitter, and angry with the profiteering monsters who apparently decreed his first daughter's destiny, he threw himself into his work harder and harder.
As he began to grow dark, Ares's world began to change. Things started going wrong when her home burned down, and her father took the girl, twelve at the time in the simulation, and her twin brother, away from the cinders.
People in suits began following them in that dream world. They had to run - Ares and her brother didn't understand why, but Daddy was afraid, and asked her to be strong - so she did. For three years they ran, and Ares began to develop... powers. Her father was immensely proud, and encouraged her to explore them - did everything they could on the run to help her learn about them, always accepting, always encouraging, but the dark men and... someone her father knew - she never saw who exactly, but who he called his daughter - eventually did catch up to them. Father hid her away with her brother, but the boy broke cover and tried to defend his old man. They beat Lee to death in her dream... and stole her little brother. The sight was in fact triggered by a death switch Kurasawa had put in his body - if he should perish... his daughter would begin to awaken.
The girl infiltrated the stronghold of the men who killed her father and stole her brother, and... met her sister. In her dream... see, her father feared what Seraph might become. Near the end he had been certain that they would use Seraph to destroy him, twist the girl to kill her own father at their behest, and in so doing turn her against any of his teachings. Well... that's not how things worked out, but that is what the good doctor's greatest fear was - and that was how things wound up in Ares's dream. Seraph beat her... and thus ended the simulation.
Ares woke in the sterile environment tube once her first boot sequence... immediately after Seraph had made good her own escape. People saw in the sleepy child the ghost  and fled her in terror to escape as tendrils of light tore doors from their hinges in her desperation to get to her brother. She found him changed into the monster Core, and with him at her side they made good their own escape.
Ares is on the warpath - She wants to get revenge on Seraph for killing her father and letting their brother be twisted as he had been.
