Field Assignment One [NOW CLOSED]

Up in the rafters of the theater showing the new "Zombie Corpses from the Dead" Halloween movie sat... nothing. The space was empty, save for an eerie, floating smile that depicted a feline of sorts with dagger sharp dentures. The movie was about forty-five minutes in, and the packed cinema was about to witness the first murder of the film. The H.I.V.E.'s illustrious acrobat and stealth expert Cheshire would cease to be invisible and now sat above the crowd unnoticed. She was growing impatient with waiting - but she'd continue to do so, following orders.

Her field assignment was simple. Draw out the Teen Titans, deliver a message, and make it back to the academy safely. The first objective would be simple; the second, fun; the third one was where the challenge lie, but she was confident in her abilities.

Ahhh! Cheshire looked down from her position at the movie screen. A living corpse was about to feast upon the succulent innards of a blond who, frankly, deserved what was coming to her. Jade smirked, pushing her center of balance backward and preparing to move. "Showtime," she whispered to herself before going unseen and corkscrewing through the air and toward the screen. She stuck out a clawed hand, ripping and tearing the material to shreds and creating a sound that resembled flesh ripping. She landed on her feet, crouched. The crowd began to enter histrionics, wondering exactly what in the Sam Hill was going on. They were shocked to see the girl appear before their eyes out of nowhere as she began to slowly return to a vertical base. "I suggest you run."

Even though her advice had been said in a hushed tone, no one waited around to see if she'd repeat herself. As the crowd shoved one another trying to get out of the theater, a loud scream could be heard because the movie's projector had never been turned off. In fact, it was a nice touch; it gave Cheshire motivation. Now she could have a little fun while she waited on the Titans to show up. She began to walk to toward the exit into the galleria, ready to unleash on the masses.

Cheshire reveled in the sound of the fleeing patrons. They were all very loud, and the chaotic scene pleased her; each screaming citizen was like a mouse who would eventually be caught. But before she could lay hands on a mouse, an even bigger rat decided to rear its head. Those Titans sure did respond fast.

"Who am I and why am I here? Doing what I should be - striking fear. But you're a face that I've yet to see. Where are the real Titans; where could they be?" Cheshire's voice was borderline sultry, leaning towards scary.

She had never seen this one before, which was odd because she should have had knowledge on each member of the Titans. Nguyen would have to take into account that any super-powered being with a will to do good was admitted into the Titan affiliation these days. This girl was probably someone who'd joined not too long ago. If she thought she could go toe to toe with Cheshire though, she had another thing coming. The H.I.V.E. student was entrusted with delivering a message; sending this one back in a body bag would definitely score her some extra points on the exam.

An offensive stance was taken before the baddie sprinted at the interloper. Her target had weapons resembling small knives poised between the nooks of her hands, and it almost looked like she was trying to recreate Cheshire's own battle equipment. She'd show her who's claws were more formidable; a left-right-left swipe combo was dealt out, hoping to slash the Titan and end this quickly.

The male shimmered away into the air and left behind in his wake a gargantuan beast the resembled a humanoid tiger. It was an alien, obviously; Cheshire wouldn't pretend to know which one, because she didn't. Obviously, though, it wasn't too smart of a species. The thing cared more about insulting her dress and mask than making a move. She looked him up and down, sizing him up. Perhaps he'd prove to be an intervening obstacle in her assignment - not an obstacle that would stop her from reaching the objective, merely hinder her. Based on outer appearance, he seemed to put up a better fight than the girl at least.

Exactly as that thought was flashing across Jade's mind did her senses alert her of the ninja chick's incoming knives. With cat-like reflexes, Cheshire swiped them out of the air with her durable kimono sleeve, avoiding harm and danger. Projectiles? Maybe this had just gotten exciting!

Cheshire stood straight up after deflecting the thrown sharp objects. She titled her head to the side, getting a look at her targets from a different angle. "And now I see you for what you truly are. Odd and strange and utterly bizarre. You and your friend have a lot to learn as new bridges are built and old ones are burned. This is your warning, you'll only get one; but you won't ever forget the name after I'm done. Tell all your Titan friends of this devious attack while delivering this message: that the H.I.V.E. is back!" Finishing up her rhyme scheme, Cheshire hoped her poetry hadn't landed over the heads of the ears it should have fallen upon.

In one swift movement, she round-house kicked the popcorn machine, causing it to spurt out uncooked kernels and melted butter everywhere. She'd hoped that such slippery battlegrounds would keep the big one at bay, but she couldn't be sure her plan would work. Going invisible, she'd lunge off of the counter top and head for ninja-counterpart in Kunoichi, aiming at her arm with the metal claws.
