The Pirate Ship Attacks (Open to All)

It was a beautiful day at the Jump City beach when suddenly a canon was fired. A pirate ship appeared out of nowhere a few hundred feet off from shore, and it began to fire its weapons on the innocent people on the beach. Swimmers and sun-bathers ran away from the destruction that was raining down on top of them.

"Yarrrg!" Said Captain Yarg. "Shoot 'em all maytees! Shoot 'em down!"

Evan was walking past the beach on patrol when he heard the clatter. Seeing the obvious enemy in the situation, he walked up to the edge of the water and analyzed the situation. Perhaps this situation would allow him to show off some of his robotic body's improvements.

Turning up the volume on his voice, Evan shouted at the pirates with three times the decibles a human should be able to produce. "Cease this violent action immediately or I will need to use force."

Captain Yarg laughed. "Ho ho! And what would you be able to do, boyo?"

Before Evan could respond, he heard someone else approaching.

Finch walked along, his old man act working fairly well, the pirates had not noticed him, not had the person shouting at the pirates.

He simply stood to watch, seeing the person threatening the pirates with an extremely louder than usual voice, until the person heard him approaching. He didn't react, deciding to see how things would play out.

Evan saw an old man standing on the beach. He decided to let the old man be. It should be apparent that this was a dangerous situation.

"Very well," Evan said to the pirates, "but you were warned."

Evan jumped into the water, and for a second it looked like he was going to swim out to the ship. The pirates on the ship aimed their rifles at him. They were ready to shoot him down before he made it a single stroke.

And then he sunk. Evan disappeared completely under the water.

Captain Yarg looked on in amazement. "Yar...he doesn't seem to be a strong swimmer, does he?" The pirates waited for him to resurface somewhere near the shore.

In reality, Evan had sunk to the bottom on purpose, and was walking along the bottom of the water with spiked feet. When he got up next to the ship, Evan disengaged his spikes and launched a grappel hook into the side of the hull. Crawling out of the water and onto the boat, the soaking wet robot smiled as he saw the pirates face-to-face.

One pirate shot a bullet right through Evan, but the robot didn't react. Instead, he turned his volume amplifier up to maximum volume and started blaring a siren noise. The pirates covered their ears at the horribly loud, obnoxious noise.

Next, Evan's fingertips glowed for a second before shooting out in every direction. Each fingertip was actually the tip of a taser, and ten pirates were soon spasming on the deck in the electric current.

Oddly, due to old age, the robot's blaring sound pulses didn't quite affect him how they did others.

He created a disc of Light for himself, and hovered above the pirate ship, quizzically looking down on the ensuing battle, his staff's jewel glowing white in case he needed to act fast in order to act as some assistance or even defend himself from a ricocheted weapon.

This guy's good.. he thought.

Evan retracted his fingertips just in time to get shot in the torso from the left. Some of the pirates were recovering from the shock of the noise and were aiming their guns at him.

A hole opened up in Evan's wrist and a small cloud of tear gas came shooting out of it in the general area of this new threat. The pirates covered their eyes as the sting quickly set in.

Evan's two injuries didn't seem to be affecting his combat performance at all. Unfortunately, there were still at least 20 pirates capable of fighting, and Evan was running out of weapons.

Another pirate ran towards Evan with a sword held high. Evan shot him in the face with a quart of highly pressurized water, stalling him for a few seconds.

That's it, Evan thought. From this point on, it's all hand-to-hand.

The problem was that they had swords, clubs, and guns. Evan did not expect to last much longer.

'He doesn't seem to be doing so hot right now. If he goes down I'll interfere, but he seems to be faring decently, at the moment'

Finch continued to hover above the ship on his disc of light.

Evan punched one pirate in the face, but another pirate stabbed him in the gut with a sword.

Evan was getting really tired of having to repair his body after every fight.

Elbowing the attacking pirate in the neck, Evan picked up one of the fallen cutlesses. He had never fought with a sword before, but he had observed the movements of these pirates and could duplicate their actions.

Parrying a volley of sword slashes, Evan got shot again in the head. His face shattered and the main sensors in his head were destroyed, along with part of his body's control panel. Evan's body fell to the deck at the cheering of pirates.

The terribly loud sirens continued, however, and a pirate who had stuffed cloth in his ears walked over to destroy the noise-making device.

A blinding flash of white light pierced the air as Finch lowered his bird 'soul self' down onto the deck of the ship, in front of Evan, his hands brimming with white energy and staff's jewel glowing brightly.

"I suggest you make haste and leave now," Finch warned, as he created a dome of light behind him, covering Evan.

"Yarg," said Captain Yarg. "And where have we to go? This be OUR ship! Get him boys!"

The pirates rushed at Finch with swords raised high and guns aiming for his chest.

Evan looked up at the newcomer who was trying to save him. He guessed that this man had some sort of light-based power, but a full analysis would be needed later. Right now, he was just thankful for the assistance.

Finch tried to encase most of the fire arms in his light and destroy them. He thought he got most of them, as a pirate came up behind him, his cutlass held high. He parried the blow with his magical staff.

He blew that pirate away, and took a glance back at the person on the ground inside his shield.

Thankfully, none of the pirates were currently attacking it.

With their weapons destroyed, the pirates turned and started to jump ship. They realized that they could not win this fight. The police had arrived on scene and were waiting for the pirates on shore. The situation seemed to be resolved.

Evan's voice box had been broken from the fight, so he was unable to talk to the newcomer who had saved him. He was still able to slowly get up. Evan held his had out for the man to shake in greeting.

He shook his hand. "I'm glad I was able to help." he said, not expecting a reply because of the broken voice box.

"I apologize -- I would be glad to help you repair yourself, but I'm afraid my magic currently only knows how to heal human characteristics, not mechanical." he frowned, "But it's nice to meet you, and I will be glad to help in any way that I can."

Evan turned and pointed in the direction of the west Titans Tower. If he could get back to the tower, he could repair himself. It would be a long walk underwater by himself.

"Ah, I see." he said. He created a disc of light that was slightly more oblong than usual, and he stepped up on the front of it.

"Well, hop on." he said.

Evan stepped onto the disk of light. He was unsure if he would be able to balance, but he guessed that his new friend would compensate.

He recorded into his memory that this man was able to create these disks of light. It would be an interesting power to study.
