On a Stroll (Open)

Dar grinned. He had enticed Akunin with words of the job. "Protecting the innocent and fighting the corrupt." It was the half-truth that Seth had used to employ many powerful individuals. "My employer will pay you ludicrous amounts of money for fighting people with power of their own. I can't tell you much about him here, but he's on the winning side. I can introduce you to him if you want."

Kyte listened, and then turned away, closing his eyes as he took up another portion of meat with his fingers, plopping it into his mouth and chewing. He purposely made it look like he was going to refuse this man. That was the way Kyte was. You wanted something from him? He'd make you work for it too. But then he opened his eyes, and looked at Dar.

Take me to him.

"Follow me then." Dar led his new friend out of the apartment building and out of the tougher part of town. Within a few minutes, they entered the industrial sector of the city. The smell of gasoline was strong in this place, and dust seemed to fill the air at the moment. Heading for an abandoned-looking warehouse, Dar knocked on the front door.

Dar heard someone move on the other side of the door. "It's Dar, let me in."

The door opened, though whoever had opened it could not be seen. The warehouse was dimly lit, and was mostly empty except for a few large crates here and there.

"Where's Seth?" Dar asked. "I've brought another recruit."

A man stepped out of the shadows. He put away a cell phone that he apparently had been using a moment before. "I appologize for the lack of light. We are in the midst of relocating. I am Seth. Who would you happen to be?"

Kyte followed Dar, taking a bit of meat with him. He had to admit when someone invited you into their home and fed you, it was hard to suspect them. However, he was still careful. He followed Dar to an abandoned warehouse...or so he thought. Even before Dar Had knocked on the door, he knew people were in there. He could hear them. They walked into the warehouse, and though it was dimly lit to other humans, he looked around and spotted a few people in it.

It was then that the one known as Seth came out of the shadows, putting away one of the common communication devices many humans had. As Seth apologized, Kyte looked nonchalantly around the warehouse, pinpointing all of the locations of possible enemies that he could. The ones that were out of his senses, he didn't care for quite yet.

No need to apologize. It's not as if I can't see.

He then looked directly to Seth.

You may call me Akunin, for now.

He waited for Seth or Dar to tell him what he needed to know.

Dar went and stood behind Seth. This was his day off, and he didn't feel like helping the others move all the boxes and equipment.

Seth looked Akunin up and down. "Akunin? Very well. Dar brought you here because he assumed you would be useful to me. The goal of my organization is to ultimately improve the world. We don't live in a tower. We don't wear fancy costumes for children to idolize. We hide in the shadows, so that our secrets will be kept safe."

Dar took a casual step foreward. "You look like a man with secrets, Akunin. I don't need to know your secrets, but I would like to know what skills you could offer my organization. If you have a place here, I will pay you a starting wage of one million dollars a year. So, what can you do?"

Kyte's eyes flared up when he heard that Dar had brought him here because he thought he could be useful to another man. However, he calmed down. Perhaps this could be interesting.

I am a demon, Seth. From the very realms of Hell itself. However, I think you and me are alike, in that I think demonstration is far better than explanation. So I'll provide you with an example, if you want, after explanation, if you so choose. I have heightened senses, primarily similar to a wolf, along with heightened speed and regeneration. I also have a little trump card, but I don't think I'll show you quite yet. If you wish to test these, like I said, I prefer demonstration before explanation.

"I can see you are a very intelligent man, Akunin. Perhaps we do seem to have something in common. I believe that a demonstration is very much in order. Run as fast as you can to the other side of this warehouse and back to where you stand. Your speed will be calculated by one of my agents. Let us see how fast you are."

The warehouse was huge. The far wall was about 400 meters away. In the shadows, the mysterious Agent Earth would watch Akunin. His hyper-intelligence would allow him to calculate the top speed of Akunin.

OOC: Just say in your next post how fast he runs.

Kyte nodded, and started to turn to run.

Yes, but I realize I may have explained a bit wrong on my enhanced speed. I can run at about sixty miles and hour, not very impressive, but what I meant by it being enhanced is that I can run at that speed and hold my momentum for an enhanced period of time.

After explaining that short bit, Kyte sprung into action, running towards the far wall. He reached it in merely 14 seconds, and then turned around, running back in another 14 seconds. At a speed of 60 miles an hour, he had ran from Seth to the wall and back to Seth in 28 seconds.

See?

"He's right boss," said a sickly voice in the shadows. Agent Earth's features were all hideous, including his voice. "60 miles an hour."

"Thank you for that demonstration. You have only one more test to complete. Then you will become a full member of my organization. Cut your hand open. Show me your healing factor."" Seth really didn't care about the healing power that much. He wanted to see if Akunin would follow his directions without question. He couldn't have any arguements with his employees at crucial moments. If Seth saw blood from Akunin's hand, then Seth would gladly hire him.

Kyte shrugged, and didn't even take out his katana. The agent that had been observing him on his run sounded sickly. There was definitely something unnatural about him. He raised his hand to his face and simply tore it open with his fangs. It only remained open for a few seconds before slowly sealing. Kyte then focused on the drops of blood he had left on the floor, while licking the blood from his hand gently. He took a napkin out of the bag and wiped it up. Though he doubted scientists could do anything with it, humans had often surprised him, and he didn't want his DNA lying around. Depositing the napkin into his pocket, he turned to Seth.

I want to make one thing clear, Seth. Like the wolf, I can hunt in a pack, but I sometimes travel alone. I don't really know what kind of man you are, though we are similar in some aspects. Due to that, I want to make clear I am not just another henchman for you to order around. Just understand that,, Kyte tightened up his bag on his shoulder. He hadn't turned back into his human form yet, but he wasn't exactly "on the job", so he was still carrying it. And we'll get along swimmingly.

Seth could tell that Akunin was going to be very useful to him. "Understood. Congradulations on joining our little team here. As you know, we are a bit busy moving our base of opperations for now. Within the week you will be contacted for your first assignment. You will be paid after completion of said assignment."

Seth turned and looked at Dar. "Please escort Akunin safely back to the nicer parts of the city. You will also be contacted in the normal method when you are needed, Dar." Walking into a small office, Seth closed the door to complete some business.

OOC: This seems like a good place to end to me. Any last comments?

Kyte nodded, smiling.

What an unusual human...this will be fun., Kyte thought, as he turned to exit the building. He turned to Dar.

Well? Let's go. I want to get back to my apartment in time for a nap..., Kyte said, yawning lightly. If Dar was set, he walked out of the building with him.

...Kyte...this better be fun...

Kyte could only grin at the feminine voice inside of his head, nodding to himself, as the sun finally set on this eventful day.
