"Upgrades" [Shadow]

CAP after the events involving the literal manhunt, found himself able to take what most people would call "a day off." Technically he was an unofficial part of local law enforcement, and allowed to assist officers in dealing with super powered threats or escalated civil chaos as was seen during the manhunt. Also technically, he would not be responding to any such incidents for the time being, as someone he had met and assisted him gave him a chance to... upgrade. After he got himself all patched up, he would follow the directions on the card he was given and speed off toward Hadescorp. He specifically didn't tell anyone, and fortunately Chessa was too lazy and also not around at the time.

CAP had his reservations about this. Based on what he knew of terran mythology, "Hades" was a god of the underworld in Greek Mythology. This was after his own personal grudge against organic life and humanity in general, and didn't help. In hindsight, an extra pair of eyes could've been useful if not for the fact the pair of eyes he'd bring would be closed and asleep. Maybe he could've brought Rico along, they hadn't had much time outside dealing with The Hive Five to catch up. Oh well, he would just have to keep on his guard.

CAP would arrive with no issue, make his way inside the lobby as he scanned his eyes all over. LOOKED normal enough so far, excluding the security guards who all looked... very familiar and only slightly different looking. They were being up front with their security, not that it mattered to him. He would be here as a guest, and if he was refused he lost nothing just leaving this as a dead end. "Can I help you?" Asked the guard at the front desk simply.

"I was invited here, by someone by the name of Renegade," CAP retorted simply, even 'passive' he was an intimidating sight with his cannon idly in standby behind one shoulder, a portion of his missle rack just barely poking out of the other; not to mention the mini-napalm flamethrower on his wrist. He was a war machine through and through. He placed the Hadescorp card onto the desk to back up his claim.

the Security looked to his left to another one as their eyes blinked in a rapid but rhythmic fashion before one of the security units began making his way down a corridor. "Please take a seat and fill out this form and waiver. The engineers will be with you shortly." unperturbed by the war machines weaponry. it returned to attention as its head wound turn occasionally scanning the area.

the form was a set of paperwork asking why were they here If they were referred by someone and if they have any interest in a complimentary tune-up if it's their first time coming here. the waver however was a single document that read as follows *I____ Agree to not disclose company secrets assets images or audio on lab areas, and am aware that legal action will be pressed if i do.*

after some time a middle aged man in a white jumper with the hadescorp logo on one shoulder and a crow patch on the other. "hello sir, Im Professor Spruce lead engineer and assistant creator in the 00' series of biodroids i heard 004-R or Renegade recommended you come by. This being said what can i do for you? are you looking for any upgrades mabie reactive armor? a nanosystem of your own or mabie a synthetic soul so you can learn and able to use magic?"

This interaction seemed completely normal to CAP- if anything it was preferable than what he normally had to deal with on a daily basis with meat bags as he too the form, moved aside somewhere but didn't sit. That wouldn't be necessary as he filled it out after checking for anything suspicious. He never had to do this before, but was supicious enough to look it over thoroughly and only found the last part concerning. CAP wasn't a lawyer, but this seemed unnecessary if someone actually had intent to reveal any of their secrets. If this meant anything, anything illegal would keep them busy anyway but CAP didn't think too much more on it. But he'd keep that in mind as he finished.

Not too much longer, someone finally came to "greet" him. "CAP," CAP stated his name simply. Synthetic soul? What nonsense was this? Magic? CAP's databank had a rough outline of what that is, and he vaguely remembered some experience with such a user before. But it still sounded like nonsense to his logical mind. "Nanosystems will be enough for me at this juncture. If I am satisfied, no doubt I will take the other options into consideration," CAP continued, waiting to be led; unless getting the soul immediately allowed him to cast spells, but based on his understanding he'd also need to learn. That still could be an interesting venture either way, and it was something else he made a mental note of on their resources.

The Professor nodded his head "very good decision fallow me to the back and ill walk you threw the process run some diagnostics to get you the best compatibility and then take you to the sub labs for the implementation process."

walking down the corridor both Cap and the Professor would be guided by a more burly biodroid with the model number 001-A and 001-B, "We don't get many Other Synthetics to come down here so we want to assure them the best service, these two walking with us are the first-gen models of the 001 series working as more or less bodyguard models at this point as their time in the military was fazed out by both the 003 and 004 models. Due to them being our first venture in the biodroid creation the 001 and 002 series were paired up due to their more human appearance than the later models. using our techniques using biomass creation, donated cadavers for early template purposes and biomechanics these were once top of the line in our bio droids but sadly their days are up and more or less reduced to being bodyguards."

getting to the room in pristine white floors walls and ceilings greeted them with panel walls that opened up to reveal high-end computer systems and tools most likely specifically created for biomechanical purposes. "oh shoot, one moment I forgot the analyzer ill be right back I shouldn't be long." with that the professor left the room in a brisk jog leaving cap with the two biodroids

CAP wasn't sure how to feel about the word and concept of "biodroid." He had heard it enough times, but was still listening during the explanation. 1A and 1B did look quite human, an advantage for infiltration no doubt. It probably made them get along with actual humans more, not that was a matter of concern to him- but it did remind him how others viewed him as an afterthought. He had less interest in their use of "biomass" and personally felt like flesh was inferior to hard metal. Did this mean that Renegade was less of a "machine" than he originally thought? Perhaps, or maybe he was thinking too far into that. These two LOOKED human but that didn't mean they were. Someone in CAP's position might think of them as Terminators with a fleshy exterior, but CAP was not privy to those films.

When the professor excused himself because he forgot something, CAP mentally rolled his eyes at the forgetfulness. But he nodded, and was otherwise quiet as he continued to look about the room. If only his other functions weren't weighed down by restrictions, he wondered what sorts of things he could make use of in their systems. Even after "leaving" the servitude to STAR Labs, his restrictions had yet to be removed fully. CAP was still aware of the two biodroids, but unless one initiated conversation with him, he had no interest in talking.

While the Man Has left to go find the analyzer 001-b stepped forward "Sir I'm going to explain to you how the operating procedure will take place and what the process entails." It began as it made its way to a computer system and began typing away as protection turned on as a visual aid.

"The procedure is a rather invasive one, we will be shutting you down temporarily and implementing the nano brain and nanosystems while providing a system update and any firmware updates as well as overall giving you a new look if necessary." within the time it took to find the analyzer 001-B would explain the in and out of the procedure the updates nanosystems and benefits he would get from it. "and that's about it and no you don't dream of electric sheep just normal dreams I'm afraid..."

as he retired to the side of 001-A, the professor returned with a scanning device. "Alright Mr. CAP Im just going to give you a quick scan before we move to the operating room so if your capable would you mind booting yourself off and we should have this whole procedure done within the next few hours."

They had no way of knowing all he really needed was the goo- which is really what he had been expecting, but it was starting to sound a lot more involved than he originally thought. So much so that CAP was understandably hesitant the more it was explained to him. If CAP cared, he'd have rolled his eyes at the attempt at humor but ignored it. CAP started to weigh the pros and cons, and understandably he didn't like the idea of being inactive for so long under the care of what were clearly less than good intentioned people. No doubt they could use whatever info they gained from their operation for their own ends, but at the same time... they could remove his restraints. They'd have to if they intended to try and follow STAR's example of using him. They wouldn't be able to without doing so.

"It is noted," CAP said simply, already making his decision. His only fail safe should this go bad, was Chessa if she could be motivated for long enough. Consequences aside, there was too much to gain for him to ignore and so he'd wait for the doctor to return. "The sooner the better," CAP replied after he did return, and complied with whatever they'd need.

A few hours later...

CAP would "awaken" once more with a greater level of clarity than before, though it felt strange for lack of a better description. One could liken it to trying on a new set of clothes for the first time, but it went well beyond that and it was more like CAP felt out of place in a new body for as long as he had been stuck in his last one. But his "mind" was becoming fully aware of... new functions that one by one started to awaken throughout his body. So this is what it was like to have legions of little mechanical minds at your diposal... CAP would unless instructed otherwise, start to move and get warmed up to speed.

The man smiled broadly "the operation was a complete success as were able to give you a complete overhaul while keeping your likeness very similar to what you were like. Feel free to use our combat testing range to test your abilities, it's down the hall and to the left. Consider this operation free of charge Ren doesn't normally recommend people to come by not sure why so we do this out of good faith." as he stated this he would watch as Cap got up and moved around tapping a few buttons a panal opened up reveling a mirror for Cap to view himself


the old man held the door open for CAP. "now also with the nanosystems comes the benefit of you don't need to look all bulky from the number of onboard weapon systems and now can use all your firepower from any place on your body. if at a later date you choose to come back for more upgrades, abilities, or need security services provided we can talk payment until them we wish you a pleasant day CAP."

CAP was starting to get used to the new body, and mentally stroked the mechanical minds of the nanobots that made his body. It was like a perfect clarity and awareness of every square inch of your body, as opposed to the "subconscious" day to day functions of organic life. As the scientist spoke, that did bring to his attention his lack of weapons. But it only took a thought and CAP found the function and parameters to bring one about. As for the mirror, CAP wasn't vain- be it his nature as a machine, or the military "lifestyle" but he preferred function over form. Still, he did watch as the metal in the palm of his hand morphed slightly, creating not a barrel like with his cannon, but a more compact apparatus where he could still fire from. "Thank you for the offer, but I'd much prefer some live targets to try this new body out. Which given how this city is, I should easily be able to find one..." CAP replied simply, actually showing a degree of appreciation as the palm blaster returned to a sleek metal.

This one was free huh? Maybe it didn't cost him money, but CAP didn't have any doubts that it DID cost him. His old body for a start, but as far as he cared it was well worth it. He'd have to poke around though, and make sure there wasn't any... side effects or nasty surprises with this faustian bargain he had made. "If there is nothing else required of me, I will see myself out," CAP added before starting to make his way out. His brain was swimming with possibilities now, and he was more aware of the computers around him and their tasks with but a thought. He was more than eager to put this body through its paces...
