PostSubject: Rapture v Tesla   Rapture v Tesla Icon_minitimeThu Nov 21, 2019 6:35 pm

She had known what to expect the moment Rapture re-entered Jump City––a manhunt for the metahuman who had done heavy damage to DOMA equipment and personnel, officially crossing the red line and into a hatred-filled inferno. Marked for imprisonment and fruitless questioning, what really mattered to DOMA was not that she was a vigilante, but that she stood in defiance and made some of their top agents look like fools. She had defended herself, albeit in an unnecessarily caustic way, and now all eyes were on the petite powerhouse.

Fortunately, the Ivory Crow had foreseen the battle to come. However, he would not divulge the details to his new host; he had told her she needed to own up to her actions and could deal with the problem without extra foresight. Rapture had understood, undeterred by the idea of facing the opposition. This time, however, she would not hold back. The yokai priestess owed no apologies and due to her brash nature, would not yield and simply answer inquiries of Gashadokuro’s arrival; this was a matter of pride. A matter of standing up to government lackeys not unlike the now-dismantled HOPE of Japan.

This stood to be more than a standoff between two forces; it represented a vigilante’s response to the rising filth called the “Department of Metahuman Affairs.” A repeat of Japan’s “House of Prosecuting Extraordinaries” would not stand in this new land. Rapture would not allow a bloodbath on either side, nor would she let anyone die. And yet, standing before a squadron of DOMA agents jilted her perspective. It had taken four hours for the organization to surround the Shinto temple she frequented. Her biggest challenge? Making sure no harm came to the holy structure.

…or at least, that’s what she thought before two identical men stepped forward in perfect tandem, step by step, breath by breath. They were different somehow, no mistaking agents of greater standing and strength than the bags of flesh and bones that were humans. She sensed a calm, collected nature from the twins, uncanny and off-putting.

“Lock! Key!” a commander barked. “Bring the vigilante in. Do what you need to!”

At that, it was off to the races.

The twins turned out to have outstanding abilities, that which Rapture could not help but admire. She had been unsure when they had removed their shirts, but all made sense when sharpened bones began to protrude from their backs… well, as much sense as one could make out of the spectacle. Rapture had seen many-a-strange abilities before, but this rather disgusting display had her both impressed and disgusted. For this fight, the Mother Tiger would do splendidly with her strength and durability. Something told her that those bones were more than they appeared and would most likely be reinforced somehow. The way they moved in such synchronized manners would have made for a great fight to watch from the sidelines, but cool as these dudes were, a pair of nightmare knuckles that attacked both physically and psychologically proved to be essential tools as Rapture went two-on-one with Lock and Key, dodging bone protrusion attacks and the advantage of a duo.

The seemed almost mindless, robot-like as they fought, well-oiled fighting machines packed with grace and ferocity. So strange were their eyes, appearing dead and with an even graver expression that gave Ryuuzaki’s resting bitch face a run for its money. And yet, this lack of emotion gave them an edge of concentration. That is, until Rapture finally landed a hard blow on one twin, snapping his strong-as-steel with stronger-than-steel brass knuckles as a wave of emotional devastation hit him, the Mother Tiger coming to her comrade’s help using her nightmare-inducing fear aura. The untouched twin cried out in horror as his brother went down, a bizarre deluge of emotion for a former stalwart. Taking the opportunity to her advantage, Rapture rushed the man, barreling into him as she made another crushing blow, this time snapping all boney spikes that had protruded from his chest like an exposed ribcage and sending him flying into one of DOMA’s vans. He, too, was dosed with nightmare fuel and proved to be all body and no mind. A fragile creature with nearly-unbreakable bones.

Next, Rapture grabbed the other twin by the two bone spikes he had used as stabbing machines, forced his palms together, then crushed the bones in his hands with a considerable amount of effort. Separately, the legendary Lock and Key were nothing but vulnerable fetuses. In minutes, Rapture had rendered two of DOMA’S finest unconscious and hurting. Satisfied, the petite powerhouse knocked her knuckles together again, sending horrific imagery to nearby agents.

“Call off your troops, scum,” Rapture spat, “or I won’t go easy on the next sucker you send in."

PostSubject: Re: Rapture v Tesla   Rapture v Tesla Icon_minitimeMon Nov 25, 2019 9:13 am

Elisabeth was waiting in one of the vans outside the shrine, a cup of tea in hand as she watched the satellite footage. Lock and Key were supposed to be talented DOMA agents, but Elisabeth wasn't quite convinced. They seemed... strangely not all there, and it was hard to assume that people so strange were so useful.
Maybe that was a bold assumption, but that's why the heiress let them go in first. She wanted to see what she was working with.

The twins seemed impressive, but certainly over hyped. Elisabeth had been told that their bones were as strong as steel, and it didn't take a genius to see that punch wasn't hitting hard enough to handle steel. Still, there could be some magic in those knuckles that let her do more than it looks like. Especially since the agents were now balling up unconscious.

"Well, if you want something done right..."

Elisabeth mused aloud, making the agents nearby look at her with eyebrows raised. She hit a button on her bracelet as she stepped out of the van. She'd kept the Homelander close, just in case she summoned another skeleton. As the heiress stepped out of the van, the blue metal would fly at her, perfectly connecting to her form piece by piece until only her face was showing. That part was soon covered by the nanotech.

"Let me take a shot at this, commander."

The commander gave Elisabeth a dirty look but didn't object. So Tesla jumped slightly as her jets kicked in on the bottom of her feet and flew her up. She'd fly to the scene, looking down from about thirty feet up.

"Rapture - you're only hurting your case when you attack government agents. You're under arrest in connection to the attack on Midtown. It'd be smart to surrender peacefully."

The girl might recognize Tesla's voice from the school adventure they went on. It didn't matter much to Tesla. She had identified that girl as a potential threat to the peace there, and was proven right shortly after.

Rapture v Tesla Empty
PostSubject: Re: Rapture v Tesla   Rapture v Tesla Icon_minitimeMon Nov 25, 2019 11:20 pm

Just as Rapture had anticipated, DOMA had been purposefully pulling their punches, using lower-level agents to test the waters. In truth, Rapture may have been a little less violent should Lock and Key’s defeat not have boiled her blood and fed the dragon with anticipation. She had a surplus of souls on top of her already satiated spirits, energy to spend generously. Yet she would follow her credo, instilled at a young age: never hesitate, use as little energy as necessary, success was the only option. Now, she faced a familiar foe, only they first met as friendlies. After fighting an impressively resilient white monster-type creature some time ago, the teenager had read up on her companions. Elisabeth Delacroix, aka Telsa. However, that meeting meant nothing to Rapture now; in fact, as she recalled, the spiky-adorned metahuman had warned those present that should they do anything stupid, no mercy would be had.

Tesla had paired with DOMA, and that made her a criminal. Of course, the billionaire knew nothing of what it meant to be on the other side, and therefore could not be reasoned with. To drive the point home, Elisabeth apparently believed that Rapture should be prosecuted for an event that she did not cause, and on top of that, was integral in stopping. ‘Damn, I’ll never get rid of that skeleton for good,’ Rapture shook her head, thinking to herself. To think that Gashadokuro’s attack would end at his demise proved ridiculous.

Speaking of.

“In retrospect,”
Rapture began, “I should have gotten a restraining order on him. Too bad that doesn’t carry over internationally.” Her tone, calm and collected, betrayed the rising anticipation within her bones. All four spirits seemed to be rallying behind her, causing elevated levels of excitement and an admitted drop in reasoning. Fighting Telsa seemed completely unreasonable. Fighting DOMA and their charges seemed unreasonable. But the petite powerhouse stood beyond reason. Finally tilting her head to make eye contact with Telsa––well, as much as one could have with a shielded visage––Rapture cracked her knuckles together and assumed a defensive position.

“You suggest peace? Peace was never an option,” she hissed. “Come down from your high horse, Elisabeth, and fight me like the hero you claim to be!"

Luckily, the suit covered most of Elisabeth's expressions. The frustrated sigh and dramatic eye roll was not going to help the situation at all. GIR locked onto the foreigner as Rapture haphazardly explained her defense. Dealing with people was exhausting to the millionaire sometimes. It seemed like they just didn't get it sometimes.

"If you want to claim none of it is your fault, you were better off doing that before assaulting agents, kid."

Kid, from someone younger than Rapture. A tactic designed to push those easy little rage buttons that Spikes had. Tesla pointed her hands at Rapture, and her shoulder mounted rocket came out of the nano tech. Not firing - yet - but certainly threatening.

"You want me to come down there? Do you also need me to stand still and let you hit me? I'm afraid I can't comply. I have more firepower than you, and more importantly... I have the high ground. It's over, Rapture."

If Spikes was prone to hubris, this would likely be the ultimate challenge to it.

"I'll count to 5. Drop the weapons and surrender."

Rapture v Tesla Empty
PostSubject: Re: Rapture v Tesla   Rapture v Tesla Icon_minitimeTue Nov 26, 2019 11:15 pm

Rapture thought of defending herself once more, but let that aimless idea drop; whatever she said, it would get her nowhere. Now, she had five seconds to make a move, five seconds to turn the tides.

Five seconds was more than enough.

Breathing in slowly and positioning her hands together and downward to a point, the petite powerhouse recited an ancient mantra she had learned on the shores of the dead. Then, using one arm to grab a spike from her headdress, she dragged the sharp object across her palm. Four drops of blood were allowed to drip as her incantation came to a close. Finally, she removed the nightmare knuckles with a thud as a ghostly white flame engulfed her body, obscuring any outsider’s view.

Inside the cocoon of fire, Rapture’s clothing burned away as a simple white bodysuit made of enchanted crow feathers wrapped around her, complete with spiked pauldrons, obsidian leg guards, arm guards, boots, and a pair of ivory white gauntlets with reaching black talons, sharper than steel. The entire outfit served as a type of light body armor, impressive enough in craftsmanship alone.

However, the armor paled in comparison to the resplendent eruption of a set of white feathered wings, spanning fourteen feet from wingtip to wingtip. They shone with ethereal yet blinding light and carried a secret that Tesla would soon find out as the flames died down, revealing the epic transformation. Atop her normal spiked headdress, another element could be seen: a single white glowing eye hovering above Rapture’s featureless eyes.

She saw a glimpse of herself, back on that limbo-like beach as she had started the ritual that would allow her to become the Ivory Crow. Now fully merged, Rapture cracked her neck and took to the air, soaring high above her adversary and sending a blistering wave of energy arrows made from the very feathers now on display. As they sped through the air, the energy projectiles burned at over two thousand, five-hundred degrees Fahrenheit –– plenty hot enough to scorch through steel.

“You’ve reached a new low,” Rapture chided, brandishing her taloned gauntlets as she watched the barrage of arrows speed toward their target. "All of you have."

Rapture v Tesla Empty
PostSubject: Re: Rapture v Tesla   Rapture v Tesla Icon_minitimeSat Nov 30, 2019 7:59 pm

It didn't take long to realize that Rapture was human - and, as a human, way stupider than Elisabeth herself. Some accused the heiress of playing God with some of her inventions, but really... that wasn't the case in her own mind. No, not at all. When the ghostly flame engulfed Rapture, GIR instinctively switched the view to X Ray and thermal. She knew exactly what was going on under that cocoon.

She didn't do a preemptive attack, no. There wasn't a need. The Homelander was overly capable, if anything.

"It's so exhausting sometimes..." she started as Rapture came out of her transformation, wings and gory on display, "pretending to be like one of you. A human, that is. Putting on this facade that I'm a relatable person when in reality... I'm so far above this bullshit."

The wave of blazing hot arrows came next, and though 2,500 degrees is enough to melt steel with extended contact... a simple swat did nothing but scratch the nice paint on the suits surface. No real damage.

"If it's a war you want, then you'll quickly learn to regret it."

The missiles fired at Rapture, one at each of her wings. The were slow and sloppy, something the spirit mistress could easily dodge, but when she did the two missiles would shift directions towards each other. If Rapture dodged the projectilles they'd detonate against each other mere feet behind her with the force of twenty tons as Elisabeth herself charged forward, aiming a 10 ton force punch at the left wing of Rapture.

Rapture v Tesla Empty
PostSubject: Re: Rapture v Tesla   Rapture v Tesla Icon_minitimeWed Dec 04, 2019 6:04 pm

Rapture could not believe the audacity of this human. She thought herself a god, it seemed, but the yokai priestess knew that no god could exist without believers. Who would believe in this megalomaniac? Determined, Iðunn Ymirsson-Ryuuzaki would make this would-be ‘god’ bleed.

Her energy arrows had proven useless against the admittedly impressive armor, but the missiles were another story –– as they lazily meandered forward, Rapture simply sent another deluge of arrows to counteract them, successfully doing so as they melted in the extreme heat. Next came a more spirited punch that did nothing more than waste energy, as she simply maneuvered out of the way. Telsa was banking on words more than actions, it seemed, but actions spoke louder than words. Prattling on about egocentric nonsense would do the armored teenager no favors; the girl lagged in years' worth of experience and clearly knew no manners. That would have to be taught.

Dipping past Telsa, Rapture knew that she’d have to change strategy; thankfully, her airborne ascent had accomplished what she had originally aimed to do: locate a place where the two of them could fight without interruption. She swiftly landed atop one of the Shinto temple’s raised platforms, accessed a hidden panel, and opened a secret hatch. Before disappearing through it, Rapture spared a few words for the audacious teenage brat.

“As above, so below,” she spoke cryptically. “Come and get me!”

She left the hatch clearly open, and if Telsa did decide to enter, she would be greeted by a cold, abandoned temple teeming with malevolent spirits, an air of putrefaction, and unsettling feelings of being watched. The temple itself stood protected from outside harm due to its supernatural nature, so trying to tear it down would do nothing. For once, Rapture felt comforted by the spirits rather than annoyed that she would have to do more house cleaning.

The key battleground would be far below the surface, however, in Rapture’s bunker. This is where spiritual energy was more abundant than oxygen, allowing the petite powerhouse even greater use of her powers. But for now, she waited in front of a giant statue of her mother’s namesake, the Great Red Dragon, Ryuuzaki. Eerily suspended was a red ribbon that wrapped around the dragon, accentuating each feature and providing an image never to be forgotten.

Rapture and Telsa were bound, and would only get closer as their causes clashed.

PostSubject: Re: Rapture v Tesla   Rapture v Tesla Icon_minitimeMon Dec 09, 2019 9:38 pm

Rapture, despite seeming to desire a fight was more into the flight mode for now. This made Elisabeth frustrated, but she wasn't easily deterred. Instead she made sure GIR was tracking the spikey runaway, switching to thermal to see where she was going when she went underground. This made Elisabeth hesitate.

"Probably a trap. GIR, stay on high alert. We're following. I'm confident you can handle whatever she has up her sleeve."

Tesla went down the hatch, seemingly oblivious to the spiritual feelings that plagued the basement. What the Hell kind of shrine was this anyway? Who built this? Tesla would need to look into this later, but for now she stopped about twenty feet in front of Rapture to stare her down. The room was open enough to maneuver in the air, luckily, but even if it wasn't she was confident.

"Is this where you want to fight, then? Or are we running some more?"

Tesla readied herself, this time deciding to be reactive instead of proactive.

Rapture v Tesla Empty
PostSubject: Re: Rapture v Tesla   Rapture v Tesla Icon_minitimeTue Dec 10, 2019 7:19 pm

As Ryuuzaki stood, she took measured breaths, bathing in the anticipation and feeding off of its manic energy. She listened to the sounds of doors locking and hydraulic hisses could be heard throughout the temple, knowing that her sole companion––an android called Zenith––had pre-assessed the situation and had already begun preparations for the imminent showdown inside these sacred walls. And as Zenith did so, Rapture made her own in order to inhabit the Mother Tiger once again, chanting inaudibly as she kept her eyes on Telsa as they changed from white to a bright, icy blue. The Great Spirit had received plenty of time to recharge whilst the vigilante had taken the form of the Ivory Crow. A vortex of icy wind violently whipped around her body as the transformation began, over in a flash as Rapture cracked her knuckles before her signature Uru Nightmare Knuckles encompassed her fingers. Stepping forward, the mystical maven spoke calmly.

“You try to fight here, you’ll be devoured by yokai,” she stated calmly. “We battle below, the two of us, in the depths of this infernal place. There, I will teach the so-called-smartest person alive lessons you must experience firsthand.”

The red dragon statue opened up to reveal another hidden pathway that led to a descent of unknown lengths. Well, at least, unknown to Tesla. Rapture knew exactly where she wanted her opponent’s ‘lesson’ to be learned: the nerve center of the temple, a room where the petite powerhouse trained constantly. The ceiling was low, the space unfurnished and sprawling, each wall covered with screens that allowed Rapture to display just about anything.

Walking backward, the yokai priestess retreated in an eerily subdued manor down the steps, eventually breaking into a run and jumping from several platforms to lower levels. Whether Tesla would follow or not was no question; the longer she stayed above ground, the more violent the spiritual activity would become. The temple had been sealed off, so there was no other way out.

‘Bushi wa kuwanedo takayôji,'
the Japanese proverb popped into her mind. ‘A Samurai pretends, even when he is starved, by holding a toothpick between his teeth.’ She smiled, genuinely. “But which of us is the samurai?”

Arriving at the sliding panel to the center room, a volatile idea came to mind, something to really pack a punch in a different way. After getting on contact with her android partner, Zenith, a wall-to-wall video and audio display of the catastrophic events of HOPE would play upon Tesla's arrival. Metahumans versus humans, military against rioting crowds, graphic depictions of violence. Shock value. A terrible, horrifying reminder to Rapture, but nothing she hadn't experienced before. It was time for her adversary to experience with her.

••••

ooc: “武士は食わねど高楊枝 or “Bushi wa kuwanedo takayôji” is an old Japanese proverb that usually refers to not letting others see your pain, but in this case, is used to describe someone who’s too proud to give up.

Rapture v Tesla Empty
PostSubject: Re: Rapture v Tesla   Rapture v Tesla Icon_minitimeTue Dec 17, 2019 9:31 pm

Tesla briefly wondered who designed this labyrinth as they walked even further in. It seemed oddly convenient to be so... well, designed as it was. Into the ground surrounded by 'spirits' and a gladiator ring. What type of religious temples were built with that? Quickly, Tesla decided to prepare for any more conveniences. She spoke inside the helmet, but her voice wouldn't be relayed through to Rapture.

"GIR, relay to the men outside to expand the perimeter. Look for escape tunnels. This place is bigger than it looks."

The message would be sent, and the agents outside would start canvasing. Tesla simply followed the criminal deeper, into the tight quarters. It wasn't ideal, but she could still maneuver well enough horizontally even if the ceilings were lower. As Tesla prepared for the fight, the screens on the side flared to life, which was again unexpected. This hideout was shockingly well built. Ancient ruins with high tech televisions littered through it? Rapture was more of a jack than she'd let on. Again, Tesla would speak to GIR with the voice off.

"GIR, nab this feed."

As the videos of HOPE and their particular brand of ultra violence displayed, Tesla remained mute and watched on. For now. GIR was hard at work, the AI was built by one of the worlds most incredible hackers - self proclaimed - so she had no doubt she'd be successful. It'd just take time.

"Ah... your old grudges finally come to the surface. I was wondering when you'd admit it was simply personal... but you don't really think you can educate me, do you?" The screens would flicker for a moment. GIR was getting through. "I know about HOPE. Why do you think I'm here? You think the world so evil, you really see the worst in everyone. I'm here to make sure things are done right this time."

The screens would turn black as GIR got control. Then they'd flicker back to life and show pictures of 15 children, all around 8 years old.

"Do you recognize these faces? I'm sure you don't. This story wasn't covered in the 'heroes save the day' news. During the attack on midtown, this class of children were on a field trip. They followed the evacuation protocols of the school and took cover in the nearest building. You didn't know those protocols. Neither did the Titans. So you lot had no qualms about leading the monster towards them. It took three days for my rescue team to recover the bodies."

The screen went black again, Tesla had no intention of staring at the mistake any longer.

"There are issues with how these vigilantes run things. You hold this grudge against HOPE and a faulty system, so you come for blood. What you need to understand is you're not the solution. Your warpath is the problem. Surrender now, and we can work towards a solution."

PostSubject: Re: Rapture v Tesla   Rapture v Tesla Icon_minitimeWed Dec 18, 2019 1:19 am

Rapture displayed no surprise when her feed was highjacked, and felt no remorse as Tesla shared the faces of dead children. “War began the moment DOMA aimed to neuter the Titans. War began when you decided to come after me, blaming me for something I could not control. Don’t you see? Even if vigilantes were organized, they would have acted the same. And, pray tell, where were you when shit hit the fan? You of all people have no right in this business. You’re just a government pawn fighting a fight that doesn’t even belong to you. And me? I never said I’m the solution. I am the wrench in the machine, the error in your algorithms, the pariah. Gashadokuro killed those kids, not me, so I am at no fault.” Rapture’s words practically burned as they went through her mouth. Pointing at the children, she continued, “where were you? Those faces are as much of my problem as yours. You will continue to be handicapped by your own lack of experience in death, in war. Should I be fighting a fellow veteran, I might go a bit easier on you. But this is what will happen, little prima donna Elisabeth: we will fight, and one of us will win. It will change nothing about DOMA’s situation except for the fact that one pawn will be knocked over and I will move on to the next.”

She meant it. Blinded by the past but determined to forge the future, Rapture knocked her Uru knuckles together, forcing the supernatural aspect of a potent fear aura throughout the room, choking any hope and other positive emotions. Even Tesla’s suit would not keep out the psychologically damaging phenomenon. She would feel a sense of heavy dread and tinges of fear at the very least should she stay around. Any longer, and a dull roar of fear would penetrate her soul. Behind Tesla, the door shut with a resounding thud. And a blink later, Rapture stood just inches away from her foe, aiming a simultaneous uppercut and jab to the lower ribs with the force of twenty tons.

"YOU! ARE! USELESS!" she roared.

A spiritual output to Zenith instructed the android to reclaim the screens, which they did with ease despite being highjacked by an outstanding AI. This time, the displays were filled with video taken from the fight against Gashadokuro, featuring the heroes of the battle as well as news segments on how grateful people were to have the Titans and other people like them around. Efforts to put out the fires and rebuild by the heroes were also shown, alongside the Mayor of Jump City putting out a public statement of gratitude to the Titans and many civil workers. All this, intermixed with news broadcasts from Japan about how HOPE had been in the wrong, how the way they went about registering vigilantes only made the problems worse. Adding to the press were the same grisly images from before, with HOPE agents gunning down metahumans and a military-like force nearly running over people with their tanks and squadrons.

Although an isolated incident, the impact had been felt through vigilante communities throughout the world as well as government bodies that had a similar program in mind. Jump City was only the latest in a line of burnt matches. Rapture had made Jump her new home in order to escape the political combustion, not light another fuse. But the fuse had already been lit here, and Tesla had thrown on the gasoline. Rapture had fought fires before, and this inferno stood to be no different. Sometimes, a critical point had to be met before crisis could be placated. And so, she would fan those flames.

Rapture v Tesla Empty

Elisabeth always thought of herself as a logical person, one that didn't act on passion... but this thing in front of her had the nerve to be pointing fingers away from herself? Shirking responsibility like a professional. It disgusted the billionaire to her core, and had her feeling a bubbling of anger deep down.

"You're right," she started, her fists clenching and tone icy, "I wasn't there. If I was, those children would still be alive because I'm better than you."

The door slammed behind Tesla, but she kept her eyes on the enemy ahead. If a spirit thought it could even scratch her, she'd handle that later. Rapture dashed forward, a powerful punch aimed towards the suits ribs but it was clear that that form was not focused on speed. No, and GIR gave the edge to the suit here. She stepped back just in time for the uppercut to miss completely, and Tesla raised her arms in a defensive fighting position as she thought much more tactically as the spiritual burst came forward.

"Ahhh... this is... new."

The voice remained cold, any hint that she was shaken by the effects of the brass knuckles were masked completely. While Rapture was recovering from the failed attack - something that generally took a trained combatant merely 3 seconds - Tesla went for a simple stomp on the others foot. It'd be about 10 tons of force.

Rapture v Tesla Empty

Unfazed by the fact she had failed to land a hit, Rapture had plenty of time to recalculate and evade Tesla’s stomp, twisting sideways and backflipping some distance. ‘How disgraceful,’ she thought, ‘not even playing with a full deck. Does this bitch want to be destroyed?’ She landed resolutely, pounded her knuckles to exert more fear aura, then charged Telsa again, this time using the sturdy suit as a kick-off point to hit her real target: the ceiling. When her knuckles hit the rock interior, a small avalanche of boulders came raining down as the foundations above quaked, sending more rock and effectively block out and exit point and force the two powerhouses to a much closer range. Now, only the area of roughly one parking space remained to maneuver.

While downsizing the playing field, Zenith alerted Rapture to the attempts to infiltrate the temple, which gave her an idea. ‘Ring the gong, Zenith. If they want in so bad, I want them to receive an enthusiastic welcome.’ The android protested, but their counterpart would not have it. ‘Disturb the spirits. Ring the gong!’

The gong, an ancient piece flown in from Rapture’s personal collection, served as a tool to essentially disturb the spiritual inhabitants of the Shinto shrine, used in case of emergencies or when the yokai priestess simply needed more fuel. Zenith made a beeline to it, grabbed the ceremonial mallet. Its volume was so great that it could be heard clearly from any point in the temple, including the small space in which the combatants now inhabited. Listening to the pristine sound filled Rapture with confidence and a new sense of supremacy.

Pounding the knuckles again, the older teen felt resplendent in their spiritual energy. Having served their purpose, she let them fall to the floor with a resolute thud. “…better than me, huh?” Rapture smiled tellingly. “If you are considered better, I’d hate to be anything about you. I know my place. I know who I am. I…” she paused, placing her hands in a downward steeple as a blaze of red flames briefly surrounded her, leaving the young woman with red eyes, two sets of horns, and a giant hilt sticking out of her chest, “…am what’s necessary."

The Blood Spirit Blade, unsheathed and infused with hatred, blistered at a mean three-thousand Kelvin. She had been waiting for this moment, building up all the spiritual energy and prerequisites to produce such a weapon, of which she split in two, providing a set of katana-like blades. Dual swordsmanship had been a speciality of Rapture’s since she was a child. Locking her arms into position, she strategically waited for Telsa to move first.

Rapture v Tesla Empty

If the aura of fear was having an effect on the genius, it didn't show. Rapture was able to dodge the stomp with relative ease, flaunting her combat experience, but Tesla wasn't very disturbed by the fact. Instead, she payed attention to the spikey goths movements and predicted her plan. Rapture punched the ceiling and tried to make the room even smaller, but two missiles went to the rocks and detonated. What was left was just small little debris that both could easily walk on, the room as open as before.

Then the gong rang, and Tesla quickly deduced what was happening. The spirits were aggravated, which means... those bloody idiots!

"I told you to hold your ground! Get out of there you idiots! I have this handled!"

Her anger was still present, but she shoved it down as much as she could and looked over Rapture and her new stance. That sword was giving off intense heat, she didn't even need thermal vision to know that. Did that mean that Rapture herself was resistant to heat? Didn't matter that much. Tesla was prepared to win this any way she needed to.

"It seems like I don't have a lot of time. Are you trying to distract me by killing the men doing their jobs out there? Haah. You're not necessary. You're a monster. One that needs slaying."

In one hand, Tesla's plasma cutter would shoot out ready to cut or burn through anything in her way. On the other, missiles would launch out towards Rapture. They'd be big explosions, but Tesla was confident in the durability of her suit to take it. When they contacted anything, the explosion would be 10 tons of force over 15 feet. The small room would work against the monster now.
