Animal Instincts (Closed)

It was a chilly february evening. The kind that Wesley began to hate ever since he gained his powers. Finding places that would take someone with his... temperment... were getting harder and harder to find. But he was saving for an apartment on one of the city's south ends. There were cheaper ones out there, but they typically were run by people who skimped on various amenities... like heating. And that was something crucial to Wesley's survival. After all, if his landlord decided to turn off the heat in the middle of the night, Wesley might not wake up at all.

He finally had it narrowed down, and had the contract drawn up. But it would all depend on how well this next job would pan out. If he got away with some actual cash and valuables, then he'd be able to afford the place for a full year. For the budding thief, that would be more than enough time to get his act together. So here he stood, atop a building that overlooked a small gold exchange. He hadn't put any real thought into this one. Gold, diamonds, cash, it was all the same in the eyes of Kid Cretaceous.

With a running start, he leaped off the building, he wings coming into place as he reached the height of his leap. Then he soared down, only to rear up at the last second. The shear terror on the face of the civilians inside when the pteredactyl-terror crashed probably would have paid for the whole apartment. It was priceless. As he stepped forward, his face twisted again as his arms became more muscular. He gave a snarl as he unclipped his bag from his belt.

"Valuables. In the bag." He growled before slamming his hand on the desk. "NOW!"


His sharp teeth glimmered as he towered over the man behind the counter. He didn't even have the composure to try pressing the silent alarm. He simply reached for the nearest gold necklace and put it in the bag. Then he made for one of the locked cabinets. No point in making the nice man smash it open with those claws of his.

Wesley turned his head to the voice just as the cashier began emptying a tray of gold coins into his satchel. As he turned, a string of what could probably only be described as silly string came out of nowhere. Since he turned, the webbing missed the initial target of his hand, but definitely pinned his upper arm.

This girl was insulting him! Nobody insulted Kid Cretaceous. Instead of a witty retort, Wesley simply roared, his arm tearing through the webbing like a piece of tissue paper. For years scientists wondered what dinosaurs sounded like. Spider Girl was getting a pretty clear answer. Wesley didn't have time for a fight. Besides, this girl was probably less likely to just let him walk out than that fox-whatever he ran into at the museum a couple nights before.

So rushing forward, his form shifted again. The wings returned, and he aimed to tackle her out the window. Now he had a better view of the girl he was fighting. Spiders huh. Dinosaurs crushed spiders!

"Shut up!" Wesley yelled, only to get a face full of web. Well now he couldn't see. Just great. She had succeeded in royally infuriating Wesley. She was going to get it now. As the girl pushed off, he looked in the direction he figured she'd be. His blank face would slowly start to change shape, only to tear at the seams. The webbing began to fall off in swatches as Kid Cretaceous' bony head grew into place. His pachycephalosaurus form sprouted forth as the spikes protruding from his face tore the webbing away. 

By this point, she shot two more webs at him. One struck his bag, but his grip remained firm. He was definitely enraged, but wasn't about to forget his prize. The other simply struck the wall behind him.  He'd charge forward at her and attempt a headbutt. That would be painful. Whether this succeeded or not, his next action would be to switch into his velociraptor form.

Was she still talking? What part of "Shut up!" didn't she understand? "It's not gross." He snarled back, his body slimming out again. His arms elongated a little, and large amounts of scaly reptilian skin burst from it, connecting with his hip.  The back of his head had even grown back into a little bit of a crest. He let out another roar, though this time, it was more shrill. More of a cry really.

"I don't have time for this." He added before shooting off into the air. This girl was all over the place. She could probably outmaneuver his Velociraptor form, but she still was bound by the forces of gravity. Wesley was not.
