Omni - Gen Brawl!

Ben Tennyson and his friend Rex Salazar were visiting each other. It had been a while since they last spoke or hung out but with cross trans-dimensional travel now completely possible between universes Rex and Ben were able to travel across time and space more often...Also, they had a bit of a friendly rivalry between heroes.

Today the pair were in Rome watching a gladiator match - fake performance being put on by terrible actors. Ben had chili fries in his lap and an odd flavored greek smoothie in his left hand which also had the ultimate weapon resting just on his wrist, disguised as a lime green watch. The teen was wearing a t-shirt rather than his jacket today because it was HOT! "PHEW! Dude, I really believe that this heat might just have Heatblast topped...That's my fire alien by the way." Suddenly the gladiator performance ended and the losing actor dropped to his knees pretending to die after being stabbed in the gut by the plastic sword. "OH! YEah!!" Ben clapped thunderously, not too hard to believe considering he still enjoyed summo-slammers as if he was ten years old instead of sixteen.

Rex had traveled, a lot- all across the world back in his days with Providence, and even now he was still having crazy adventures, traveling across dimensions to meet up with his good friend Ben Tennyson. He too had gotten out of his normal red and orange jacket, wearing just his blue and white t-shirt, as well as his black pants and boots. His slick black hair was even slicker with sweat, in the Mediterranean heat that he found himself stewing in, beside this interstellar champion he called friend.

Rex was enjoying a sloppy joe, one of his favorite sandwiches, and it was almost gone. And if Rex didn't have something to munch on, he wanted to be up, moving, doing something, anything. And whenever he and Ben got together?

Rex smirked and stood up, stretching. "So, been a while eh? I think we should have ourselves a little brawl, amigo. What do ya say?"

Ben heard Rex's comment and began to cough up his smoothie after taking a nice long swig. The teen wanted to fight, again? Ben and Rex had infinite spars since their first meeting. Although not all of them had been fighting.

Flashbacks entered Ben's mind of their first battle where Rex got a couple of lucky shots in, but then Ben owned him in basketball. Then there was arm wrestling where Ben lost since they weren't allowed to use powers, but whatever. Skateboarding/hover-boarding Ben reigned supreme but then got annihilated in a math race which Ben found Rex was surprisingly good at geometry. However Ben was gifted at all memory exercises which made him the victor of eye-spy. And it pretty much continued in this cycle for the two of them. Ben lost dancing, they tied at acrobatics, they tied in the eating contest, Ben owned the picking up girls challenge, but totally lost at foreign language, etc.

Usually their contests came down to brawls for clear victory and excluding the first one they were tied...if you counted the first one for Rex Ben was down one, but at the same time that last game of rock paper scissors arguably belonged to Ben as well. "Here? NOW!?" Ben looked around they were bringing out animals in the arena now but one of them was very rowdy and broke free from the tamers, which caused the others to also get pretty rowdy. From Ben's count it was two female siberian tigers and one male lion. Ben smiled. "Ok, you're on, but only if you help me save those lion tamers from ending up like Siegfried. Deal?" Ben licked his fingers after chomping down the rest of his chili fries and chugging his smoothie as he talked and then extended a fist to bump with Rex.

Rex had averted his attention momentarily to the rowdy animals below, recognizing the threat they posed. He looked back to his friend, and nodded. "You got a deal, amigo." He likewise extended his fist, pounding it against Ben's like their own handshake.

Rex was the first to move. Right from the stands, he jumped down to the floor of the arena. Granted, he wouldn't be living up to his name if he weren't now equipped with a large pair of metallic legs, extending his height by nearly four feet. He landed with a crash, waiting for his green-and-black clad compatriot.

Rex always enjoyed doing things like this. In this dimension, there were hundreds- more like thousands, or even millions of people like him. People with powers who only ever wanted to help. He felt like he belonged, like he was wanted and that he wasn't...well, so much of a freak, or a monster. So being able to help without so much of the pointing fingers was a welcome thing.

After the fist bump Rex literally giant leaped into action leaving Ben to take up the rear. "Alright, it's HERO-TIME!" Ben said as he thumbed through the omnitrix and selected the holographic image of a vine and plant like alien - Wildvine. He slammed down on the device's face plate and within an instant his body was morphing into that of an alien humanoid.

As soon as the transformation finished Ben elongated his upper torso towards the arena and the rest of his plant body followed him like a coiling snake. As he landed by Rex the plant alien plunged it's hands into the ground as the ferocious mammals charged towards them. "Maybe if you were herbivores I'd be a bit worried." as the jungle cats drew near vines protruded from the ground ensnaring one, missing the other, and just barely grazing the paws of the large male lion, who leaped over the vines and headed towards Rex. "Heads up, these cats are quick on their feet."

A moment in, and the cats had already decided to attack the heroes instead. Rex's Punk Busters collapsed, and he traded them out for a pair of large metal hands, which he picked the lion up with. It struggled immensely, and just as Rex thought he had this one under control, another leaped at him, causing him to drop his first catch.

Rex had to act quickly to avoid the sudden onslaught of two of the animals, and the Smack Hands crumbled away in favor of the Block Party- two smaller gauntlets of metal, that emitted large circles of hardlight, that acted as a shield. He fended them off for the moment, looking to his now much greener friend.

"Care to help out, amigo?" he asked, as the lions came at him again, catching him off guard and causing him to have to put the gauntlets to the ground, forming a dome shield around himself. It wouldn't withstand the lions for long.

Ben was having much of the same problem Rex was, the tiger he caught was struggling...HARD! The Florauna gritted it's teeth while triying to bind the lashing claws of the beast. Then Rex asked for aid and Ben immediately abnormally turned his entire upper torso one hundred and eighty degrees to see the machine builder blocking the other jungle cats that slashed at his energy shield."Oh right! I'm on it." Ben extended his other hand towards Rex and attempted to grab hold of the other tiger but missed and had his hand bit off instead. "Y'OUCH!" Ben pulled back his reforming limb causing the other two to give chase to him.

To make matters worse the other one he was holding was carving the plant creature's vines up nicely. "How about a little bait and switch?" Ben said as he dropped the tigress and rooted himself into the ground. Wildvine planned to play decoy while Rex readied his big gun(s).

While the Generator built whatever weapon he needed to tame these cats. Ben was weaving and dodging his limp vine body to avoid the cats strikes. Ben was skilled with his older aliens the best, including Wildvine. It was like an airplane pilot flying a plane they used to practice with versus the newer franchise jets they worked with - Ben was adept with this alien's every move and capability. This included dropping noxious seed bombs from his back, which exploded in puffs of fumes that dulled the beast's senses and movements that were attacking him. Ben wrapped his body around the sluggish animals, like an extreme game of contortionist Twister while the crowd cheered.

The animals were drugged but still strong and Ben's vine body was having a hard time immobilizing all that muscle. Wildvine wasn't worried however as soon as Rex came with the BOOM-POW he would retreat into the ground like a growing plant in reverse.

By now, Rex had a plan. He watched for a split second as Wildvine became like a mangrove tree, rooting himself all across the ground, entwining the animals with his vines. Rex acted quickly, forming another Omega-nanite build- his very first, the Blastcaster. A large back mounted dynamo, connected to a tendril replacing his left arm.

Rex whipped the tendril as Wildvine retreated into the ground. It extended to its full length, gripping each big cat around the middle and holding them up in the air. Rex grimaced at this part, he knew it wouldn't permanently injure any of the majestic beasts, but he knew he'd feel guilty anyways.

Rex sighed, "Sorry 'bout this, guys!" And with that suddenly electricity courses through the tendril and thus through the beasts. He didn't overdo it, just enough voltage to cause them to lose consciousness as he lowered them to the ground. He collapsed his build as it was confirmed that the beasts were now done with their little escapade.

The crowd went wild. Rex and Ben had provided WAY more entertainment than the gladiators. The staff for the event didn't know what to do at this point.

But Ben did...

Grass like roots creeped around Rex's feet and then sprouted in an instant like a growing beanstalk. The vines meant to twirl around Rex's legs and lunge him into the side of the coliseum. Rex could take that however. Ben had once heard from the teen's own mouth that some EVO or whatever had once punched him through concrete. Wildvine uprooted out of cracks int he arena floor moments later.

After the surprise attack Ben transformed back into a human with his hand over the omnitrix's face plate. "Sorry 'Ah-mi-goe' but whoever strikes first strikes last." Ben snapped his fingers and pointed at Rex snarkily with his watch wielding hand. The bout was on.

Rex...was definitely not expecting this. One moment he was feeling triumphant, the beasts were defeated. But now he was in a wall. Two very different feelings, he realized. He grunted as he fell out of the wall, basically peeling off of it like in the cartoons. He stood up and swept the dust off with his hands. "Fighting dirty eh, Tennyson? Catching a guy off guard like that..."

He smirked, though. He liked the competition he and Ben had always had. Rex held out one hand towards Ben, and very suddenly he had a different build, a seven foot long orange sword, the BFS. One of his favorites behind the Smack Hands, and definitely one of the most intimidating. "I'll let ya suit up but ya better be quick about it, chico~"

"What can I say, I gotta pull out all the stops against you." Ben shrugged as the crowd applauded. They knew Ben Tennyson and most of the world was still learning of Ben's friend Generator Rex. However this event would make chroniclers rewrite the most iconic battles in the gladiators' arena history.

"You want a fencing match - well then I've got the perfect new alien for you. His name is..."

"Errr, yaa, RATH!" It was quite obvious this singular talon like claws and charged towards Rex without hesitation. As was this feral alien's nature to charge into every situation headstrong, on purpose.

"LEMME TELL YOU SUMTHIN REX SALAZAR!" The tiger humanoid yelled as he swiped at Rex with one claw and then went to parry a returned sword swing with the other. "DON'T THINK JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE A BIGGER SWORD THAN RATH THAT THE SWORD IS MIGHTIER THAN THE PEN!" Rath jumped to avoid a swipe and then come down on top of Rex like one of the pouncing jungle cats they just defeated. "BECAUSE RATH IS ILLITERATE ANYWAY!"

Rex had seen quite a few of Ben's aliens- a lot of what his friend called his "classics", like Heatblast, XLR8, Upgrade. That last one was one of his favorites, but that was a story for another time. He'd also seen some of the ones that were newer to Ben, like Humongosaur and Big Chill, but this alien- it was a new face entirely. And not exactly a friendly one.

Rex parried a little taken aback, but was quickly back in the "swing" of things, so to speak. In such that he was swinging the massive sword, only to be parried by the hulking tiger alien. He hopped out of the way, only to be chased by the tiger, and pounced upon. He lifted the sword up, holding it level to keep Rath off of him.

Rex couldn't help but chuckle at the way he spoke, that was for sure. Third person speech seemed to do that to him. "Alright, el tigre, I believe you. Ya look illiterate too!"
