| JaK had heard enough, he let his hopes get raised..Again. His mistake to think that maybe someone he had actually connected with would stay as part of his life. When was he going to get it through his head, he wasn't like the other heroes who had a life outside of the job, secret identities, families, a life! He was JaK Sage and his code name was his real name because he had no need to hide himself; for what!? There was no one close to him to protect, no family, no friends, no anything.
"Alright, if anyone needs me for any important stuff I'll be up on the roof chillin and by important stuff; I mean the beating someone's face in variety."
JaK would then turn to leave, off to brood on the rooftop. It was a usual thing for him to do, go up on the top of the tower and wonder what life would've been like if his dad had more success with his research and never had to resort to testing on his own children. Would he be happy, would he have a normal life, would his brother still be a crazy arsonist? All he knew at the moment was that he was over the new dog, seeing Kat again, and at the moment just wanted to be alone. |

| ooc: Edited! Sorry for the holdup.
bic: “Actually, labeling Steel as a dangerous place would be an understatement… especially with the new drug busts going down, the criminal scum have upped their game. It’s a fight for turf, and there can only be one in the lead. If you fall behind, you’re pretty much toast,” Kat said, her stance tightening as she went on. “But it’s where I can get a reputation and some respect; I don’t have to compete with all the heroes protecting Jump just to prove my worth.”
The last sentence showed the contempt and jealousy Electrified had of Jump City’s finest, the Teen Titans. It wasn’t meant to be anything of betrayal, opposition, or “going to the dark side,” but it was heated. Jealousy… well, it was carving Katarzyna Dolinski into the name of crime. Her bluff on Powers Technology was more like a wish than an actual fact. She didn’t work for them. She despised them with all the passion in her Polish blood and Dolinski upbringing. There were rumors circulating that the Powers’ family had taken advantage of Katarzyna’s father’s designs, blueprints, and completed projects. Powers and Konrad Dolinski were supposed to become business partners, but that relationship fell apart when Konrad’s genius finally plummeted into limbo after many years of family caused grief. Electrified vowed that day to not only take back what was rightfully her father’s, but destroy Powers Technologies from the outside in.
She clenched her teeth, trying to hold back her hatred. “So,,, about that puppy,” Kat quickly changed the subject. “You should name her something that has meaning. Like a reminder of who you are and what you love most,” she paused “...did JaK just leave?”
Suddenly, she became completely depressed. JaK. I can’t believe I didn’t think of that before I came! That kiss... that mistake. It was done, but it was still present. Me and JaK. What was I thinking? |

| Grace could feel some strong emotions coming from Kat. She seemed sad and confused, at least to Grace. Sage had just walked out, and that act seemed to be responsible for Kat's feelings. Grace felt her own anger burning at Sage. He usually acted this way: distant. It was the reason she could never call him Jak. Sometimes, she just wanted to punch him for being so...him.
On the other hand, she suddenly realized what she had to name her puppy.
"Thanks, Kat. You're right. It has to be something important to me. That's why I'm going to name her Mercy. By the way, could I get you to build an awesome collar for Mercy with a bunch of gadgets?" Grace grabbed Kat's hand and led her in the direction of her room. She kept a good grip on Mercy with her other hand. While they made Mercy a collar, Grace would figure out what was going on between Kat and Sage. |

| Meanwhile, up on the top of the roof JaK would continue to stare on into the sunset. (Sorry if this was supposed to be a night or in the morning? I'll just edit to put sunrise or moon if need be.) He tried to tell hismelf it didn't matter, it wasn't a big deal, it was just a moment, Get Over It! But, there was no lieing to himself. He really did feel something for the girl and wanted to ask her to stay, but he had already done so once before and he knew doing it again would bring the same results, so why even bother?
"Pfft, it's whatever...If she wants to go to Poland, Steel CIty, the Southpole, why should I care? I abandoned the team once, no one came running after me. So if she wants to leave, the fine, Go!"
Even saying it aloud didn't help, the lies JaK told himself only brought his mood even more down as he moved his legs from the dangling position off the giant T-shaped structure and back under his chin where he wrapped his arms around them while putting his head down. He hated this feeling, it was enough to make him want to absorb the tower's metal coating onto his fist and knock himself out in an attempt to make it go away, but he doubted even that would work. |

| “Err, yeah, sure,” Kat said, looking back to where JaK had vanished as Grace pulled her away. JaK Sage. He’ll always guard himself and push away the world. But I breached those walls… I loved him. Electrified said to herself. Do I still love him after all?
“No!” Katarzyna accidentally exclaimed, forgetting that Grace and Mercy were with her. “Crap! I meant to say was—" the teen tightened her fists and choked in a breath of air. “I might have to run back to Steel for some more materials or, um….”
Electrified wanted more than anything to leave. She just wanted to run away again. She wanted to go back and join the scum of Steel City. When she walked those corrupted streets, she felt she didn’t have to prove herself to anyone; she knew she was better than all those criminal junkies… but now she was beginning to doubt if she really was.
“Grace,” Katarzyna sighed. “I’m not meant to be here. You guys have been really, really, great to me, but I just don’t have what it takes to be a Titan. Do you remember the first time we met? You were sitting where I always sat at a restaurant. I bought myself a drink, actually smiled for once, and we got talking. I asked you if you knew anything about the Titans, then I told you how I didn’t trust how really good they were. That was a long time ago. Now, you’re a member of the very team we were talking about, but I still don’t know who any of you guys are. I’m still just that girl from Poland with a metal arm. I’m just some chick who got lucky, who got spared after being so stupid and naive. My mother was captured. I thought I was a hero, so I went to save her. But instead, she was killed the moment I got to her. I lost my arm. My dad lost his wife and I lost my mother. I didn’t die that day, Grace, but my belief in heroes did."
She couldn't contain herself any longer.
"I worked so hard just to get my dad out of bed every day. I slaved over his inventions and tried to carry on his legacy, I studied night and day by his bedside, and heck––I even went to god-damn Chernobyl to find the man who taught me dad everything he knows. But what for, Grace? For what did I dream all those years? How could I have seriously thought I could be as good as superheroes with real powers? I can't compete with a shapeshifter or someone who can fly or you, with your beautiful ice wielding. Superboy is out there. Wonder Girl is watching everyone. You are here, Grace. JaK's here. The Titans are here. The world doesn't need heroes anymore... they need real people. You're either a normal, bo-dunk citizen with a vote in Congress, or you belong to the 'shady side' of town. Boy Scouts don't get anything compared to us. Church leaders don't shine in the light of recognition. The police, firemen, and EMT's are always accused of slacking off, but that's only because we've already come and made everything all happy-go-lucky. You have to be someone real special to make a difference. You gotta have god-given powers to be great. My dad always said to me, 'Kat, not all superheroes are born superheroes; some have to build their own legacy from scratch.' But when's mine coming, Grace? When do I get some recognition? When do all my efforts get to be thanked, along with all the real citizen heroes instead of some almighty teens in costumes? That's why I can't be a Titan, Grace. That's why I told JaK to leave me alone and go save the world with his friends. I love him, Grace. I'm just not willing to leave my station in order to let my emotions intermix with his." |

| Grace listened as Kat kept talking about her past and how she didn't feel like she could be a Titan. Finally, she spoke. "Kat, all of those events you just talked about are in the past. The thing you should be worried about is what you are going to do right now."
"The Titans do have a lot of powerful individuals, with God-given powers, but that is not what makes them heroes. I've seen plenty of villains with superpowers, so that can't be what makes you a hero. Taking responsibility: that's what makes you a hero. Those policemen and firefighters you talked about are heroes. Parents who raise their kids right are heroes. Even a kid who tries their best in school is a hero in their own way. All of these people make the world a better place. Why do they do this? I think that the true heroes don't know why they do good. They just do it."
Grace paused. This next part would reveal more about herself than she would usually admit. "Truthfully, I look down upon people without powers. I see them as weak, and usually inferior." She looked Kat in the eye. "But I have never felt that way about you, Kat. I have always seen you as an equal, if not a superior. Your inventiveness and skill with technology is your God-given power. You have made me start to think that everyone has power of some sort, but most people choose not to use it."
Grace pulled out her Titans Communicator. "Robin doesn't have any meta-physical powers, and yet I would still stand no chance against him in a fight. None of us would. That's because Robin has willpower. He lives in the present and lives to make the world a better place. That is the kind of person I want to be. And I will do everything I can do right now to make sure I become that person. So, who do you want to be, Kat?" |

| The former Titan smirked. “Why, I want to be a bringer of justice.”
…and that was all she said before pushing away from Grace and lashing her lightning whips at each side of herself. The signature electric blue lighting erupted and cracked as it surged against the floor of Teen Titans East Tower. Electrified took one last look at Grace, her expression angry and depressed, but moreover, disgusted. They were all the same: supers. Even if they tried to understand and believed they understood, no one could know the truth unless they were in the same boat as Katarzyna, with no God-given powers. Life wasn’t fair, and although she loathed it, she knew it was true.
Another snap of her whip, and the teenager vanished, only to be remembered by white sparks skittering where she once stood. Goodbye, Electrified. Hello... ooc: In case you were wondering... I'm giving a little system update to Katarzyna. |
