Eyes Bright, Moonlight (Bloo)

Rico had been really caught up in her work lately. She was beginning to worry that she might be neglecting Suzuki with how much work she was doing. So when the topic of a date night came up, Rico was quick to agree. There was plenty of time for affection and snuggling, but... she had been wanting more time with Suzuki lately. Unfortunately, more time with Suzuki meant that the recent surge in catastrophic events would be neglected instead, and Rico wanted to do everything that she could to help the people in Jump.

When it came to nights they were devoting to spend together, they usually had one or two backup dates scheduled, just in case. After all, neither of them ever knew when a giant skeleton or a giant snake or a giant ice snake was going to attack the city, and they would have to drop their date to go help. She watched the news nervously. Usually, Rico wasn't so nervous, but... she felt like they needed this day to be clear for them. Like if they didn't have some free time together for much longer, then something might happen.

Eventually, she stopped looking at the uneventful news and police channels and decided to get ready. She felt like something might go wrong as soon as she started, but she did her best to put that thought out of her mind and just get ready. It was hard for her to find a balance between having a satisfying personal life with Suzuki, while also helping the city and state the best that she could. But... their desire to do justice was what brought them together in the first place, right?

She shook her head as she got finished with her hair. It was colder now, and she was wearing a sweater, but still something fashionable. She was going to wear her leather coat over it, which would definitely help to keep her warm. Other than that, she hoped she would be able to get Suzuki to supply the rest of the warmth that she would need.


She came back out, taking a breath before looking at all the news again. And surprisingly... nothing had happened. Were they going to be able to spend time together normally for once? She smiled. She didn't want to get hope just for fate to spite it, but she would try.

Rico's work was important. Arguably the most important job in Jump City. Suzuki was nothing but understanding about that fact, but the denials of alone time had gotten increasingly frustrating. It felt like one moment Rico was right there in her arms and the next she was gone. That, or they both were in the heat of battle. Tonight though, was the third time she'd planned the night. Luck came in three's, her grandmother once told her.

"Hello?" She asked as she stepped into the apartment. She was wearing a boyish suit, purple slacks and a purple coat. The color that kami Susano'o preferred. She'd gotten ready before coming home. Under the coat was a white button up blouse, and her hair was in a long pony tail behind her back. "Rico. You're here. Is there... anything happening?"

The night might feel like deja vu to Rico. The last three they'd had together were like this as well. Suzuki walking n, ready with new clothes for a date but... the criminals of Jump interrupting. This time they were lucky, though, it seemed.

"Or should I switch to crime fighting attire? Heh."

Rico looked at the news. For a brief moment, she considered a religion. Maybe there was a benevolent, omnipotent being out there. But it was a hard sell, one lived in a cafe. She heard the door behind her and turned around slowly, looking at Suzuki. There was always a look of admiration with her when she saw Suzuki. But there was something more there today. Frustration, joy, perhaps even relief. Honestly, the need for this night to be perfect was at a point in Rico's mind that she might ignore a call for help.

When Suzuki made the joke, Rico couldn't help but laugh. And also... cry. Tears slipped down her face. That might have been bad if she wore makeup, but she didn't like wearing it in the first place. Instead, she approached Suzuki almost aggressively, wrapping her arms around her and bringing her in close. She kissed her intensely, perhaps with some desperation along with the usual passion and pure need she had for her. She didn't want to get Suzuki too excited for the night; nothing would be worse than to put that passion in and then have to go fight anyways and end the night tired. But she couldn't help herself. After a few moments, a few more stray tears falling from her eyes, she broke the kiss, but kept Suzuki close, pressing her head into her shoulder. "I'm sorry, I'm just... I really needed this, Suzu." She wasn't so emotional often, but she cared about Suzuki so much. "Aishiteru," she whispered, sneaking a kiss into her lover's neck before finally retreating just a bit to look into her eyes with a smile.

Suzuki's joke was clearly not as funny as she had intended, and the reaction from her lover was far from what the shinobi expected. A quick hug and tears. Suzuki was going to apologize, but instead settled for returning the hug tightly. Then returning the kiss even twice as intensely. She felt the emotions that Rico was feeling start to overwhelm her for a moment too. The world always seemed to need the two heroes, and they yearned for each others company more than anything else. Duty was honor, though, and Suzuki was never one to be anything short of diligent in her duties.

When the kiss broke, Suzuki took a moment to regain her breath and composure as Rico explained herself. "Ah... darling, you never need to apologize to me. Especially not for giving me a wonderful embrace, heh."

The news remained quiet as Suzuki ran her hand up and down Rico's back smoothly. She smiled softly. Tonight was the night, she could feel it. Her Gods were smiling down on them, and the bitter cold of January was nonexistent. After a few moments and the embrace ended naturally, Suzuki would smile at Rico.

"No reservations, but it's only a Wednesday night. I'm sure that place you like would have a table for us, right? We should go there for a nice meal, then maybe a nice walk in the park? I want to see the moon with you. It's supposed to be a full one tonight."

She couldn't help but chuckle lightly at Suzuki as she said that Rico would never have to apologize to her for giving her a kiss like that. She inhaled a little shakily, the last signs of her crying going away as she found her composure again, in no small part due to her lover helping to soothe her with affectionate caresses.

It was then that Suzuki suggested they go to one of Rico's favorite places to eat and then just spend some time together in the park. It sounded delightful to her. "I would love to see the moon with you, Suzy... anything is fine as long as we have some time to ourselves." She wiped her eyes clear of any remaining tears, briefly appreciating her stance on makeup in general, and flashed a bright smile to Suzuki. She took her hand in hers, holding it. She subconsciously never opted for the demon hand still, but she knew Suzuki didn't think of it any differently.

She walked outside with Suzuki in her leather jacket, looking at her gently. "Would you like to drive us there, my love?" She tried to let Suzuki drive as much as possible so she could get used to it.

The night seemed perfect so far. Suspiciously so, almost. Suzuki was still worried something might come up and ruin their night, but she didn't want to let the fear come between them. She decided that even if something did happen, she would be still let it be a perfect night! "Me and you, and the city as our playground? Nothing can go wrong. Even if something does go wrong."

Suzuki assured with a wink, following Rico outside. She held her hand tightly, almost as if she was afraid to let go. Suzuki looked at the back of her lover, eyes bleeding red so she would never forget the night. The offer to drive made her chuckle. "And risk a car accident ruining our night? I think it'd be best if you take the wheel this time, my love."

Suzuki would only release Rico's hand to get into the passenger seat of the car. When Rico started the car, the first thing both of them would hear is. "Again, an assault on the food court at Jump Mall. Suspects considered armed and extremely dangerous. Meta attack confirmed. Requesting backup as soon as p-"

The voice was cut off by a loud explosion followed by radio static. Suzuki merely looked at Rico with a soft smile, nodding softly. They'd have to go.

Rico smiled warmly at Suzuki. To anyone else, if something was said to be unable to go wrong, or get worse, they would rue the speaker for saying it. But when Suzuki said it, Rico could believe it. The world was a brighter place with Suzuki for her. She giggled lightly when Suzuki said they might get into a car accident if she took the wheel, and so, Rico got into the driver's seat. She started up the car and heard that dreadful news. She gripped the steering wheel so hard that the leather creaked before she remembered to not grip things so hard. Something she hadn't had trouble with since she was a child.

But... she didn't break down again. She looked over to Suzuki, and she inhaled, letting the breath out with a smile. Even as her eyes became a shade of red and glowed softly. They definitely weren't supposed to be red this time of year, so Suzuki would know she was getting angry.

She started up the Demon and drove towards the mall as quickly and efficiently as possible. When they were both in the car, Rico tried to show Suzuki both sides of driving. Obeying traffic laws whenever possible, and maintaining a speed that, if it weren't at the speed limit, didn't go too far over. It was a fun car, but Suzuki needed to know how to drive safely if she wanted to be able to drive like Rico did when they were on their way to an emergency.

She pulled up to the mall and took out her revolver, loading it with the rubber shots she usually used. At the end of it all... Suzuki was right. Even if they did need to work tonight on their date, that didn't mean it was ruined. She tucked more shots away somewhere before looking at Suzuki and smiling. She gave her a gentle peck on the lips before getting out of the car. Her eyes were still glowing, so whoever was holding up the mall was probably going to the hospital tonight.

As the radio read off the incident report, Suzuki could practically feel her lover seething next to her as if the temperature around them noticeably increased. Suzuki kept quiet for now, shrugging off the jacket she'd brought. She wasn't a fan of dressing up like this too often anyway, so it was no big loss to her. Suzuki's own eyes changed to their mismatched red and purple glowing, watching as Rico was always the safe driver. Suzuki knew she was trying to help her learn, but the shinobi didn't trust driving. She preferred getting around on foot.

"It'll be okay." She assured her tense lover, smiling sweetly. "A little action to spice up the night isn't always a bad thing, hehe."

When they did arrive, it was clear the commotion was happening in the food court. Suzuki returned the kiss to Rico, making sure to leave her jacket in the car. Her button up she had under was white. A bad color for stealth but Suzuki had a feeling they wouldn't be handling this quietly. She undid the top button and rolled up her sleeves, giving herself better mobility.

"Meta's in the food court, it seems. There's a lot of officers here. Must be a lot of them."

As if on queue, a blast of electricity shattered through the front window, a police officer falling through. Out of the shattered mess stepped two men. One big and burly, the other smaller and sleeker. The smaller was cackling with electricity, and the larger one let out a huff of flames from his nostrils.

"Who robs a food court..?"

She smiled at Suzuki when she assured Rico that everything was going to be alright. She said that a little excitement was good sometimes, and she nodded to her. "You're right, Suzuki... I guess I'm just being a little Greedy."

When she had the gun loaded, Suzuki pointed out that the metas must be in the food court. She nodded as it became clear that was exactly what was going on, with the officer coming through the window. She saw the perps walk out from the food court. It looked like their abilities were fire and lightning. Suzuki asked why they would rob a food court. "It doesn't sound very smart," she replied in front of the two. She looked between them, trying to assess something she could use.

"Look... you guys clearly are desperate, robbing a food court like this. Surrender to the police nice and quietly and we won't hurt you. If not," she aimed her revolver at the larger fire one. She had a feeling the lightning one would be able to avoid it easier. "Then you get to go to the infirmary and prison. Your choice." She waited for a move.

If Suzuki were to describe Rico, she'd tell people that her lover was mild mannered and polite. Loving and gentle. Which was likely the opposite of what people would associate her parents with. Suzuki wasn't sure if the jealous streak was all Greed, as Rico implied. She had a feeling that a potion of the... aggressive displays of it came from Wrath. Either way, Suzuki would be lying if she didn't admit that it was one of hre favorite sides of the girl.

Maybe she enjoyed the craziness.

As Rico loaded her gun and approached the two metas, Suzuki would expertly disappear into the outskirts. Rico was attention grabbing, especially with the gun pointed right at the bigger ones head. She gave warnings, asked for surrenders. Suzuki was appreciative that Rico did that, because she herself was never good at the less confrontational ways of solving things.

The move that Rico was waiting for would be the fire meta stepping forward, a big blast preparing... but before it went off the crackle of lightning would go off behind him. Suzuki dashed out after the lightning user, catching him by surprise. His electricity attacks seemed to jump off her skin harmlessly. It was a perfect match up for the shinobi. The battle wasn't over in an instant, instead the two scuffled back and fourth for a bit before Suzuki finally landed a crippling blow. The mans knee knocked out of place followed by a merciful butt of the sword hitting his temple. He was out. Once Rico handled the other, the raven haired girl would approach with a smile.

"Y'know... there's actually food here, too. And we're right by that spot we said we wanted to go to. Maybe we just skip the fancy dinner?"

Rico had a slight smile on her face as she knew what Suzuki was doing. They had been working together for years now, of course. But they didn't seem to want to come quietly. They never did.

"Hospital it is," she nodded, stepping forward casually while the big one prepared the blast. When the lightning blast went off behind him he seemed surprised, if only for a moment. And then he felt like a thousand hornets were stinging his knee as Rico fired the rubber bullets into it. He growled in pain, throwing the fireball at Rico. She ran forward and slid under it, firing the remaining bullets into his other knee and into his chin. They would only hurt more the closer she got, obviously, and they might break bones if he had no enhanced durability.

He didn't. He was howling in pain as he grabbed for his chin, swatting at Rico with one of his paws. She again, very casually weaved under the swipe while throwing her revolver suddenly into the air. He looked up at it briefly before catching one of Rico's elbows hard into his throat, and then a one-inch punch in the chest that sent him rocketing back into the food court. Rico caught her revolver as it fell down and holstered it, flipping her hair a bit as she walked towards him meaningfully.

The criminals zip-tied and the police force thanking both of them, she smiled lightly, even if there was irritation. The fire was dying out in her eyes as she faced her lover again. She suggested they just eat here. She stepped forward slowly and took her lover's hands. "That's some good improv... I'm totally fine with it if you are," she said with a kind smile. "There's probably a place with sushi here, if you'd like that. Maybe not authentic, but passing. Ah. Surprise me." She would hold Suzuki's hand as they went in.

As Rico pulled off her glamours executions, Suzuki could only smirk. Yes, Rico's flashy move set that she'd inherited from her father was always on of the most entertaining things she could watch. Something only a teacher who's been alive as long as Wrath could pull off. Suzuki's own style was more subtle, favoring efficient moves and lacking in the mental chess that Rico put her opponents through.

"Sushi, authentic or not, is always better than no sushi." Suzuki said with a nod. Her eyes spotted a store in the food court, with a bag sitting on the hot hold. She winked to her lover, heading towards it. "I'm sure whatever is in here will do perfectly. I won't even take a hero's tax from them."

She set some money on the register for when the civilians returned. The cops were starting to regroup, and would undoubtedly bombard them with questions if they were foolish enough to let them. Suzuki didn't plan on it. "We can go to the station later to file a report. Let's save the night with that fast driving of yours?"

She'd follow Rico to the car, sliding over the hood like the Dukes of Hazard.

Rico found that she had to agree with Suzuki when she said that sushi was better than no sushi, authentic or not. She watched as Suzuki approached a sushi bag that was still fresh in the food court from before the metahumans had assaulted the mall, and she smiled wryly. She might leave a tip with them later. But, time was of the essence, and she headed back with Suzuki towards the car. When Suzuki slid over the car's hood, she giggled gently, and then got into the driver's side, quickly whipping the Demon out of the mall parking lot.

Not too much later, they were sitting in the middle of a park. It was an open area, and while there were some people around, they were mostly sequestered from everyone else by the hedges, fountain, and pools. Rico sat next to her lover and was using chopsticks to eat the sushi order they had acquired. She was smiling happily. Feeling near nothing like the stressed mess she had appeared to be before they left the house. She smiled over to Suzuki, happy to be spending this time with her lover, and her hand rested on top of Suzuki's free hand. "I'm having a lot of fun with you, Suzy. Even with the interruption that we had," she admitted.
