«««SKILL SET»»»

Main Power Origins: Magic

Powers

  • Necromancer Ancestry: Hans comes from a long line of practicioners of necromancy and the other dark arts- allegedly dating all the way back to ancient egypt. Hans has a natural affinity toward magics which harness Death/Life forces, or Necromancy. Hans' natural connection to the supernatural also enables him to see, sense, and commune with spirits of all kinds- his ancestors in particular.

  • Terror Spirit: Hans shares his body with an old, vengeful spirit that once haunted the town he was burned at the stake after being accused of witchcraft. Being that they share a body, Hans can call on his aid from time to time- and depending on his mood, the spirit will assist. He primarily assists Hans by being able to easily discern lies from truth. It offers him more assistance by being feeding on people's fear, which shall be elaborated in a support app.

      Spells
    • Haunting Hand: A spell that summons an ectoplasmic, skeletal ghost hand that can be used to interact with things up to 120ft away. Requires one of Hans' hands to be free in order to control it. It can lift a full grown man with ease and generate up to 1 ton of force if launched at someone. Undead targets - corporeal or otherwise, have their movements slowed while the hand has a grip on them. Living targets will suffer supernatural, freezer-burn damage while the hand has a hold of them. Any victim grasped also cannot heal or regenerate for as long as the hand remains in contact. ((2 post cooldown))

    • Null-Magic Field: Any and ALL magical effects within a 25ft area around Hans is removed if temporary, or deactivated for 1 minute. In addition, no additional spells or magic-like effects can activate within this spell's range. ((3 post cooldown))

    • Skeleton Wall: Summons a 5x5 sized wall of densely packed skeletons. The wall partially uses whatever solid matter happens to be nearby, typically it will be made of concrete or stone as it will come up from the ground. Hans can summon a wall up to 25ft long. The wall will also attempt to grab and restrain any of his enemies that get close to it. Lasts for 1 minute, or 5 minutes through concentration. ((5 post cooldown))

    • Vampiric Touch: Wreaths Hans' hand or a melee weapon he holds in crimson colored negative energies.Any damage inflicted, or the longer Hans maintains physical contact with his hand, the more injuries are removed. Only works against living targets, and Hans cannot be in "healthy" condition. Lasts for 1 minute. ((3 post cooldown))

  • Peak human agility
  • Exceptionally fast learner
  • Exceptional pain tolerance
Always feels cool to the touch
    Bleeds very very slowly
Can imitate a corpse when sleeping or remaining still
    Fear resistance

    Physical Weaknesses
Nth Metal is unaffected by magic
    Anti-Magic in general
Spells require both verbal and somatic gestures to be at full strength

    Mental Weaknesses
  • Fire was how his spirit was killed, via burning at the stake. This fear carries over even in death, and by extension Hans shares this fear by proxy.

  • Hans shares his body with an old, vengeful spirit which vies for control of his body. He's not quite as aggressive as he used to but sometimes he falls into temptation and will try to exert control over Hans. As such, his resistance to mental attacks is weaker due to the split in concentration. Sometimes it can't be avoided though, and the spirit comes out once Hans loses consciousness.

    Equipment
  • USP Tactical Pistol
  • Bullet Proof Vest
  • Nth Metal "brass" knuckles.

  • Geistkraft Lantern: A specially designed device for hunting down hidden spirits, or those who practice the various dark arts. Gives off a ghostly blue , unnatural light which projects a special aura that causes everyone that sees to become frightened. This sensation becomes more intense the closer to the light one is, making it harder to overcome. For spirits, this sense of fear typically causes them to panic and reveal themselves, allowing Hans to then deal with as he sees fit.

  • Autumn's Harvest: A special scythe Hans got after being possessed by an old spirit, taking the form of a gnarled, wooden shaft with it's blade coming out from the open maw of a decrepit looking Jack O' Lantern. The blades gleam with supernatural forces, capable of severing a spirit's ties to the mortal realm, sending them to the afterlife. Against living people or material things, it's as effective as any normal scythe.

    «««CEREBRAL PROFILE»»»

    Personality
Hansel or Hans as he is normally called, is kind of a stoic. He's not exactly what you'd call the strong silent type but he's fairly close. He comes off as no nonsense, straight to business when you first meet him. Some might think of him as being antisocial, which is more complicated than that. Hans feels like people in general will leave him, and he has silently resigned himself to this fate and suffers quietly. Probably the only person he's really opened up to since joining PSI was the spirit that tried possessing him- only because he literally had no where else to go.

He is however quite polite and open-minded toward other people, especially "clients" or authority figures. Hans also understands most people have trouble accepting the fact that ghosts exist without proper evidence- he thinks it's probably better that way. Hans does prefer being as discreet as he can, not wanting people to go to sleep knowing that any wandering lost soul could suddenly latch onto them while they're asleep. Hans is also one of few people within PSI which attempts to convince the more peaceful spirits to try and pass over naturally, reserving forced banishment for spirits that have gone mad with their unfinished business.

    «««PERSONAL BACKGROUND»»»

Family Members: Gabriel Von Morte (father/deceased), Isabella Morte (Mother), Jacque De La Morte (older brother), Katherine Alyss Morte (younger sister), Horrace Ramsey Von Morte (uncle/deceased)
    Place of Origin: Germany

    History
Hans was born and raised in a wealthy family living out in the German countryside. His family went far far back, allegedly going back as far back as ancient egypt- though possibly this line goes further still. At some point down the line, there was a split- with two dominant philosophies of what to do with their innate connection to the spirit world. For a long time, people sharing this spirtual connection used it to benefit others in varying degrees. And then some, saw how it could be used to further their own ambitions and fell into temptation. Some still saw it as a way to benefit humanity by removing the fear of death entirely!

Hans was first exposed to this when he was very young, stumbling across a rather disturbing scene of his father's experiments. It was one of a few experiences that forever haunted his mind as he remembered the horrified faces of his father's test subjects. To complicate this further, his mother seemed to indirectly encourage it as she seemed aware of it but did nothing. Once he brought it to her attention, and he seemed genuinely terrified of it, his mother saw something in him he couldn't explain at the time.

Through his mother's assistance, Hans discovered that he too shared the natural talent for necromancy and bending the life or death forces of magic. For a couple short years, Hans would continue his studies and impressing his father. Him and his mother had a plan to be free of him, all he needed to do was hold his attention- no matter what he asked Hans to do, he would do it. It was one thing to WATCH what his father did, it was another to be part of it, and Hans wouldn't have been able to endure it if not for his mother.

And then one evening, quite out of seemingly nowhere- their family estate was infiltrated and sieged by unknown attackers. His mother and sister were mysteriously missing during this attack, and the attackers revealed themselves to belong to an organization whose intent was to protect people from the horrors of the supernatural world. Somehow or other, they had learned of their father's work and had somehow come prepared for what was to come. Hans did not partake in the fight, eventually watching his father get killed and his spirit banished.

It was only after these events and the group started to sweep through the rest of the estate that Hans learned of his mother and sister's disappearance- and an important book belonging to his father was also missing, which may have been the reason why his father had been so vulnerable in the first place. When it came to what to do about Hans, with nowhere else to go, the group offered to take Hans in. For the rest of his life since that point he has been with the group known as PSI: Paranormal Special Investigators.

It was a very weird feeling, to be joining up with his father's killers- but his father had to be stopped; didn't he? Maybe if he had been given more time, he could've either grown to accept his father's way of thinking, or managed to change his beliefs some. Maybe he could have tried tracking down his older brother, who he had a better idea of finding than his mother or sister who vanished without a trace. In the years that followed though, Hans grew to adapt to his new life within PSI, and focused on using his talents to help others.

In the years that followed, he was trained by military professionals and others knowledgeable in the supernatural. During this time he learned more about some of his other ancestors, primarily the ones whose path he chose to follow. Then when his superiors thought it was time, he was sent out on his first mission to investigate a possible haunting of an old spirit that became the most active around Halloween. So time was of the essence, and Hans went out equipped with an at the time prototype device designed to flush out spirits in hiding.

After learning about the town's history and it's connection to some of the European witch hunts of the middle ages, Hans' investigation eventually led him out into the woods where he suspected this spirit to dwell. With his lantern lighting his way, and a series of skirmishes with the spirit along the way, Hans eventually found where the spirit resided. and had their last hostile encounter with eachother. It was here which Hans discovered the lantern's flaw- certain spirits could become more powerful from it!

This was the first case of such, and Hans almost didn't make it out before he managed to destroy the spirit's vessel in time. In a last ditch effort to cling to the mortal realm however, the spirit launched itself into Hans to try possessing him. After surviving his physical wounds and mentally fighting the spirit till the next day, Hans managed to force the spirit to subside for the time being. Instead of having it exorcised, a feat that may not have even worked for how powerful the spirit was, Hans decided to try and coexist with him. After some time, the spirit has started to show signs of his former humanity with Hans' company.

During a mission up in Nova Scottia, Hans' superiors contact him with his next mission, regarding the appearance of a powerful giant skeleton that ravaged a city in the states. Jump City, California. He was to head there and join up with the recently mobilized DOMA forces there after finishing up his mission in Canada, offering his services as a specialist...
