| PART I SETTING: Outskirts of Aokigahara Forest, Japan CHARACTERS: Rapture SUMMARY: Before the big move to Jump City, Rapture must make one final trip to the infamous Suicide Forest to reap souls for energy Cars screeched to a halt as their owners frantically exited their vehicles, watching in horror as a plane heading to Haneda Airport exploded, the entire craft bursting in a horrific display of fire, metal, and undoubtedly, a crew and cabin of burning bodies. As it descended rapidly, cell phones were whipped out at faster speeds than what was left of the plain, poised to witness the fiery **** show in all its blurry, glaring, 280p quality-at-most glory. Terrified infants, still stranded in their car seats, wailed for their caregivers while children frantically attempted to see what all the commotion was about from a backseat view. Dogs barked, car alarms went off, a drone of car horns preceded to get louder, and still, the people didn’t budge.
“What a ****ing nightmare,” she growled, calculating how far off-schedule the panicked citizens and their halted vehicles would put her. And while the teen witnessed the same catastrophe, a greater concern was forcing herself to slow her Honda CB350 as the custom ride’s motor stubbornly lulled into a dull purr. After having laid down nearly 700,000¥ for it, her macabre commutes to Aokigahara Forest were meant to be streamlined, not sidelined. And for what? A plane crash? The situation became even more tedious as emergency response vehicles join the clusterfuck of cars, having been summoned by overzealous idiots, as if they were in any danger.
’Breathe…’ the eclectic youth commanded herself. ’It’s just a setback. Time to move forward.’ She had spent enough time giving a **** for a worthless cause. Revving the engine in warning, she prepared to make her exit as a small area between two police vehicles and an ambulance presented means for escape. However, two citizens were blocking her way with a potential third. ’Too risky,’ an inner voice warned. 'Do not hesitate,' a softer, firmer voice prompted.

| PART II
“**** it!” Not another second had gone by before the girl with the dragon tattoo vaulted forward. ”Three citizens," she noted, and veered to the opposite side of the ambulance in response. Adrenaline began to spark within her blood as she wove through the police cars and into the open road, knowing that no-one would bother to chase down the rogue motorcyclist when something more Instagram-able was taking place. ’No human or vehicular damage cause,’ the mental note read. “Hey, Kichi!” she called her trump card, knowing that using his name informally would really catch his attention. Unsurprisingly, the Golden Scorpion came to the forefront of his good friend, Iðunn Ymirsson-Ryuuzaki’s, mind.
Still controlling her bike, the ever-excitable Ryuuzaki prayed to the ancient spirit, closing her brilliantly blue eyes as they began to turn a bright gold color. Merging with the Golden Scorpion felt like electric glee as his spirit coursed through her veins like bottled lightning, it was an energizing experience, it was a daredevil’s way of being.
An estimated two-hour commute became a miraculous half-hour joyride, one that came with an unfortunately somber end. Ryuuzaki parted with the Golden Scorpion as she parked her motorcycle, dismounted, and activated the invisibility field. On this night, the controversial villain-executioner would enter an as-of-yet untraveled area of Japan’s infamous Suicide Forest. The summer spike in suicides proved promising for the purveyor of lost and anchored souls, an unfortunate ordeal made promising at the prospect of freedom, even if it came at the end of a sinister blade. And this particular session would prove to be a long, arduous affair; a great deal of souls had to be collected before she would have to face one of the worst, daunting, infuriating, and banal challenges yet:
Moving.

That meant stockpiling in order to keep the three spirits she shared a body with fueled and fed. The thought of going there made the girl cringe and certainly held a higher position in ‘Dumb Shit I Gotta do’ –– an ongoing list she had started in an attempt to take the piss out of her chores. However, nothing could squander Ryuuzaki’s favourite pass time: reaping. Already, a stir of spiritual activity grew in earnest after being awakened by the unfamiliar presence. Whispers of discontent prompted a symphony of desperate wailing, incoherent rambling, the occasional misleading giggle, and most promising of all –– threats of hyper-violence, hissing, snarling, proclamations of torture, madness, eternal unrest, and other countless professions by the damned.
“Ryuuzaki,” Ryuu called to the dragon from which her namesake came, standing at the edge of her playground. “Tomorrow, we will proudly declare what we did with our day.”
