With Enemies Like These... (Izzy-Bells)

Blake followed Kyte, checking her arrow count. She was still okay on those, but eventually she would have to swap off to her sword. As they got into the lift, Kyte mentioned the researchers and their ability to start again and again. "Kyte, I have an honest question for you." She unsheathed her Gambol Shroud and the ribbon wrapped itself around her arm. "You're aware I've been training to be emotionally dead since I could walk, right? I'm supposed to be a soulless machine of slaughter."

She smiled to him in a way that was equal parts adorable and disturbing. "Guilt is no concern of mine." As the door opened, she slipped out with her enhanced speed, pinning the guard against the wall of the lift and gutting him without effort. The now blood soaked kitten looked up at her employer again. "Maybe we should do this quietly so that they don't have a chance to back up their data off-site." She whispered.

Blake was slightly less conservative than Kyte. She would make silent kills with her blade when able, but she didn't hesitate to take a long shot with her bow. It was like watching art, really. She was so quick and efficient when it came to killing, and she didn't stop. Researchers, guards, they were all the same. They were all psychotic madmen who would face judgment soon enough.

Blake ripped another to shreds, standing with Kyte outside the door of the main testing room. If they were right, then it would just be a few more researchers and that was it. As such, Blake prepared her Gambol Shroud. She only had a couple trick arrows and normal arrows left, so she'd conserve them just in case.

After a quick scent check, she realized she couldn't smell a thing beyond this door, which caused her a bit of concern. It wasn't the smell of a test subject, it wasn't a researcher, it wasn't even the steel of a computer. It was just...nothing.

Blake shook her head. "No it's just...there should be something on the other side of this door. There has to be..." She turned back to him and pulled one of her explosive arrows from her quiver. "So why can't I smell anything?" It really was puzzling her. The room could be air tight, sure, but this door had clearly been opened before. It should have a scent on it. It should have SOMETHING.

She stood up and held up her own keycard. "We both have to swipe to get in, so let me know when you're ready."

There was definitely one of those one or zero moments, but once Kyte actually started to slide the card, Blake's reflexes let her keep up with him. She stood patiently and watched the door click open until it slid, revealing several dozen rows of twenty pods each. Each of them were working on some type of creature, each pod bearing a symbol to show what the creature inside would be capable of.

"That explains why I can't smell anything. There's nothing unique on them to smell." She said, looking at each of the pods. "They're entirely new organisms, and they're being created for war." She blinked and realized exactly how familiar that sounded to her. Her eyes widened, her grip loosened and she put her bow back over her back.

"I'll go back to the lift...do whatever you've gotta do and meet me when you're done." She said that very quietly, Kyte would be lucky to hear it at all. She made her way out of the lab and through the tunnels rather quickly, sitting in the lift to wait for her employer.

Blake didn't rejoin him or leave. She smelled fire, and Kyte wasn't back yet, so she stayed until he arrived. "Sorry, seeing all of that kind of got to me a little bit." She said quietly, flicking her wrist where she used to hide the hidden blades her guild had bestowed upon her. Well...former guild.

Blake purred very softly when he started scratching her ears. She loved it and had no idea why. She loved being praised like that, it was what she was born for. She followed him closely, making sure to keep pace with him.
