Halloween Party Thread

Nina was finishing the last decoration on her haunted store, switching on the lights that led the guests through the store from the front door, down the hallway to the back of the store in the storage room where tables and music was playing with snacks, candy and drinks, separated from the spooky sounds of the haunted store.

In the main front area of the store there was a thick fog surrounding the floor made from dry ice, pumpkin orange and goo green lights led the way with skeletons that would jump out at the guests along with other scary sights, carved pumpkins lit the entrance of the store which glowed in the darkness of the night, it was around 7pm that the party started, around the time that little kids could at least go through before bed time, the alcoholic drinks wouldn't be served until 10pm when it would be teens and adults visiting.

Nina was stood in the party room smiling, making sure the little kids came out okay and got some candy and a juice box if they wanted one. Thriller was currently playing from her iPod.

Nina's Outfit- a Silent Hill Nurse:

A single piece of candy was dangled by thumb and forefinger in front of one ravenous child. Child, at least, by maturity alone, for the ghoul was easily twenty years of age, if not another ten. He had unwrapped the sweet treat at one end so that half was still in the wrapper. Cautiously Vernon extended his tongue to its chocolate coating. He licked it quickly and immediately shuddered with revulsion. The candy was inedible to him.
 
Dejectedly, Vernon disposed of the bonbon in an efficient manner - into the hood of a passerby's Grim Reaper costume. He was still sane enough to remember the joy of sugar. There were memories of Halloweens past where he had been one of these excited children, fulfilled at the prospect of free candy. Little Vernon would engorge himself on chocolate and suffer repercussions in the morning. His dad would then chide him for being so greedy. His dad would preach restraint.
 
Scapegoat's nostalgia was cut short by a violent stomach convulsion. He was desperately hungry. He was always desperately hungry these days.
 
Across the room he spotted someone directing various arrivals and departures. The ghoul brightened to recognise his good friend Nina, even though her face was hidden by bandages. He wasn't before aware that she was dabbling in cosmetic surgery but did not hold vanity against her. Scapegoat chose to swap places with a departing skeleton who was within whispering distance of the Kitsune's ear. He screamed briefly at her.
 
"In hindsight I regret doing that. Nice costume. The American Healthcare System frightens the hell out of me." Scapegoat had done away with his magical vale this evening and let his ghoulish physic rein supreme. The depravity of his body was on display for all to see. And yet still his eyes managed to take delight in everything he saw.

Alex had intended to wait until the little kids were gone, but he guessed it couldn't be helped, he had already arrived, there was no point in leaving. He arrived in the shop, dressed as the main character of some first person shooter who's name he had forgotten, he only dressed as him because he looked cool, he was dressed like a typical military sniper, except all in black, he had died his hair grey and got some fake grey facial hair, he had a sniper rifle made of paper mache, he didn't really recognize anyone so he stood by the snacks and looked awkward.

This was Bow's first Halloween that she could remember and therefore had to do research before the day had come in order to know what to expect. The internet had a variety of things to talk about on this Hallow's Eve, most of which Bow guessed was folk lore and paid no attention to. The main point, she concluded, was to dress up as something you weren't, and then run around to get candy. Though it seemed that many of the costumes were geared towards kids. Unless they were vulgar, which Bow did not prefer. She got excited and went out the night before to try and find something.

To dress like something you're not. Bow had to think about that for a long while. Finally she settled on the idea of a gothic doll. That was very much not her. She giggled at the thought and tried it on happily. When she tried to frown, it didn't hold and she just wound up giggling instead. She bought it and flew home.

The day came and Bow got even more excited, lighting up almost the entire Titan Tower. She skipped through the hallways in costume, looking slightly more creepy than intended. As the night drew near, she walked out of the tower and into the city, wondering where she should go to do this so called "trick-or-treating". Then came the obvious news. This holiday was for children. Everywhere she looked kids were asking for candy as their parents stood near them. Bow sighed and giggled, I should have known better...

Still, it was fun to watch all of the excitement. And just when she was about to go home, she saw a store that people of every age were going into. Is that what is known as a Haunted House?? It looks like fun! She skipped over to the entrance happily.

As she walked through the path, she squeaked and squealed as much as a little kid. This was all very new to her and she didn't know how to take it. When she got to the actual party she sighed in relief and took a piece of candy, popping the tootsie roll in her mouth as she looked around at the scenery. Not knowing anyone, she began to move to a corner to just watch for a little bit, seeing how people were on this night...

Bloodmoon sighed he loved yet feared halloween it was a night of renewal for the old ways but also a one where darkest magic could be used however unlikely he made his way to the comic shop that he had found a few days ago he had dressed up simply by putting on a black grim reaper robe and a black polished mask that only seem to show someone there reflection or sucked in all light. His metal arms where replaced with a far more scary version the tips where knifes each razor sharp just in case and where slightly covered by the robe Bloodmoon walked in and chuckled at how nina the owner had made the huanted house it was good. As he made his way through he stabbed a couple cherry bonbons before eating them of the knifes before obsevering all those's around there was a goth doll girl in the corner, he assumed the sniper was dagger, and nina was making sure the kids came out ok before chuckling at scapegoats actions.

The lights began to flicker and hum softly as a soft buzzing hum filled the air. It filled the room gently, completely, before dying out just as quickly as it had arrived, some would think it a power surge, a momentary increase in the power being fed through the lines that gave the city it's lifeblood, it's power, it's all encompassing twinkling lights. There was a momentary lapse, a silence before the buzzing came back, harder, much more fiercer than before, much more voluminous than the previous soft soothing hum.

Children stopped doing what they had been doing, as they stared from one another, then to the lights that flickered, growing dim one moment and intensely bright the next. Then the lights went out, one by one by one in quick succession as darkness took the building, like the hand of death come to snuff all light from the eyes, bodies and minds of those now present. There was silence punctuated by all the pitter pattering breaths of the young children and their guardians, fear was present, Halloween was a wonderful time for ghosts, goblins and ghouls of all ages to come out and greet their daytime counterparts.

The situation was apprehensive, anxiety and fear of the unknown as a ghostly electric blue figure walked up to the front door, body clasped within a field of electricity that was being sucked clean from the powerlines above that supplied the comic store it's light and safety. The figure looked up, lips pulled back into a smile most sinister as it reached out and gripped the door handle and strolled inside to the sound of whimpering and fear.

Boy was it nice to use one's power to spook all the little goblins as the power came back on and the figure's ghostly blue glow faded, revealing a chinstrap beard and a smile that became more listless as the seconds passed. "Sup."

Kris walked into the party, wearing an Edward Kenway costume, a joke between people who know his profession. He got himself a beer and walked over to Nina, "What's up?" He had actual pistols in the holsters and borrowed swords for the sword holsters, he had the hood up and a toothy grin.

[OOC: Okay two days have passed since I posted the PM to Sartorius and he has failed to post so his place is now open to anyone who wants to join the thread.]

Nina turned to her literally ghoulish friend and gave a small smile "gmuth yomth cmth makish Scapthmoat" she said which translated to 'glad you could make it Scapegoat', Nina had trouble talking and being understood through the bandages, a disadvantage of her costume, she chuckled at his quip about the American Healthcare System.

As she watched the party start with people eating the Halloween themed snacks she couldn't help but feel proud of herself, it seems her event was going down a treat rather than a trick, she was even more impressed at the boy who was dressed as Raiden's entrance, giving a clap at the performance.

Once Kris arrived and walked up to her she gave a wave "hey Kmish" she said happily "nmice costhmune" she added as she picked up the plastic bloodied knife from the table.

After Nina's muffled greeting, Vernon frozen in the guise of a dopey smile. You could practically see the ellipses forming above his head as his pea-brain tried translating. Eventually he attempted a response, "About half past." The lights went out, "And bed time."

The ensuing spectacle was greeted, by Vernon, with much applause once it had been revealed as an elaborate scare. He wished he was that frightening, but Scapegoat was doomed to be loveable and adorable forevermore.

As the party settled back down, another acquaintance approached Nina. They were dressed as what Vernon would describe as a swashbuckling druid. Scapegoat pointed a grubby finger at Kris' beer can, gasping as would a child if they'd noticed someone being naughty.

"Awww! You know the rules! No alcoholic drinks until the kiddie-winks are on their way. We haven't even put up the piñata yet." If the existence of a piñata was news to the party planners, Scapegoat now clarified, "Well I brought one." He hefty up a makeshift dummy of the Hollowman, crammed to the core with sugary treats.

(OOC: On second thought, I think I won't be in this topic, please just skip me and don't wait for me when it's my turn)

Ixen arrived back at the shop and gave Nina a smile, he was wearing a black sweat suit and had two duffle bags over each shoulder. He hurried upstairs where he got changed into his costume.

He headed back downstairs and over to see Nina. "Seems the party is a success." he spoke from behind the mask which was made of steel for authenticity. His sword however was nerf foam as there was no reason to have a weapon at a party. He glanced around but didn't know anyone else here.
