| It wasn't surprising that the offices of the JCPD were chaotic with the sounds of hurried officers hard at work. With the sudden re-resurgence of the metahumans and costumed crusaders, everything had to be back in high gear. After a period of calm, things going back to the way they were wasn't a small task.
Amongst the din of cops losing their temper and constantly on the go, one officer calmly flicked through a filing cabinet, a sticker showing "C.C.I." crudely placed along the top. After a while, he takes out a fairly thin folder and turns back to his desk.
On the opposite side, more than likely out of place for all of this, was a costumed young man, his attire being something reminiscent of a Paladin or Knight. He stood fairly relaxed, not seeming to mind the business of the officers around him, the almost visible tension.
"Aegis Warden, was it?" The officer asked, glancing up from the folder, a hint of a groan in his voice. it was almost as if he'd been through this too many times before.
"Aye, that's me," replied the costumed individual, his sing-song Irish accent not doing too much to ease the stress around him.
"Yeah, ok, um... I'll be honest, kid, this isn't exactly as simple as you might find," the Warden turned his head to the side as the officer began, "granted, I've been around for a while, and I appreciate the work the Titans and other folks have done here, so knowing one of the newer ones are lookin' for them is good."
The Warden gave a nod, the smile from under the cowl was somewhat obvious to everyone present.
"But, well, I can tell you're new to this whole thing, and it might be a little beyond your ken."
"How so?" the question was met with a somewhat exasperated sigh.
"Well, you didn't come in through the front door, you came in through the second story window to start," the officer explained, "and just because you have powers and a costume doesn't mean you're deputised onto the force by default."
The Warden looked down a moment, as if to think, then gave a nod.
"I understand. Still, anyt'in' you'd be willin' to provide would be lovely," he said. The response, or rather the wording of the response, caused the officer to raise an eyebrow. Regardless, he presented the costumed young man with the folder.
"We don't have much, and even then, only a part of that can be given out to the public. Here's what I'm willing to show you, but you can't leave the building with it. Pull up a seat in the lobby and read it over. Anything else you'll have to find out on your own," he began, "due to the nature of it all, it's been classified as a Cold Case until something major happens."
"That's rather generous of you, sir, much obliged," the Warden gave a slight bow of his head
"Yeah, well, just keep it quiet. This is wildly beyond protocol, but with all these heroes and villains back, it's nice to know we've got someone on our side."
............
It felt like one of those sketch shows, this costumed man sitting quietly, reading in the midst of a crowded lobby. Still, as eyes focussed on him, he could only focus on the paperwork before him.

| "No, for the LAST TIME! I'm fine, ok!?" The officer gave Adam a unsatisfied frown before folding his arms and walking away. "Well I'm still going to try and get into contact with your parents, being run over by a car, injured or not, is still a big deal and we've got witnesses saying you were on your phone at the time. Fee lucky I don't cite you." Adam sat in a chair and put his chin in his hand while peering at the spellbook he had found on his lap when he awoke. It was still all sort of unreal; the whole ordeal. He was the reincarnation of the greatest Wizard to ever live?
As Adam peered through the book, he heard over the entire conversation between Ageis and an officer until they got quiter and then sleuthfuly inched over to them. He leaned against a corner, while peeking around it ever so often until their conversation ended and the costumed man could be seen sitting while looking through files. Adam's curiosity for weird events today had peeked and he couldn't help but to try and get a look, especially if it involved the disappearance of all those heroes. So he sat in the seat next to/a little away from Aegis and tried to make it seem like he was still reading his spellbook, when really he was trying to peer at the files the Paladin held with his peripheral vision. |

| Aegis, for the most part, seemed oblivious to the peering eyes of the curious young man nearby. From what could be seen, the file seemed to contain reports and pictures of places. Crime scenes and theories a plenty, but nothing that would give a clear idea of what might have occurred. Aegis warden shook his head, which could only display that the file wasn't terribly substantial.
This would go on for a while, the costumed young man re-reading everything at least four times before closing the file and standing from his seat. He handed the file over to the officer before giving a nod and turning to make his way out.
Passing Adam, he looked him over. He couldn't sense magic, nor did he have a working knowledge of it, but the aged tome that sat in the hands of this teen was something to capture the curiosity of the Irishman.
"Hello," he began, stopping before Adam. He attempted to stand in the least threatening manner he could, even with the costume, "That's an interestin' book ya got there. What's it about?"

| Adam noticed that the guy seemingly had caught him snooping and a sweat drop rolled down the side of his forehead as the man nearly walked past him, but then halted and spoke. "Oh um this...I really couldn't tell you." He wasn't lying. The words weren't in English, but for some reason...He understood them well enough, it was actually pretty weird. "I guess you could say I just picked it up." He said giving it an examination himself. Could this guy have any knowledge of what it was about? He did seem into this whole kinda weird supernatural stuff and the police even trusted him. "Uhh, w-why do you ask?" |

| What was Finn doing around the police department? He actually had no idea why he was here but he was probably just exploring around Jump City. Ever since he's came, this city was full of surprises around every corner. Today was the day where he was just, looking around to see what he had to get accustomed to while he would be living here. He didn't really think that being at a police department wouldn't be a good idea since he wasn't really good. "So....I wonder what is it to do.", he thought to himself as he walked to the entrance of the police department.
Finn takes a huge breath and then enters the doors. Well, he wasn't known for anything bad around here so he was good for now. Who knew what the future held for him but he really did want to grow up, even though being a kid was the coolest thing ever. Besides having meta-human powers, because he would rather be an adult with his powers then just a normal kid who never ages. That would basically be immortality and when the world ends eventually, he would be the only one living. All alone, by himself. Anyways, in the police department there was three choices.
A. Oil everybody up. B. Introduce himself to the two males, conversing. C. Walk out.
Finn walked up to the wizard guy and forced a smile on his face, saying, "Hey, I'm Finn."

| The warden smiled pleasantly under his mask, head tilting to the side.
"No reason besides curiosity, fella. Strange things have been happenin' here and there, I'm just keepin' my eyes peeled, as it were," he explained. He leaned down a little, hopefully reducing whatever intimidating atmosphere he generated.
His eyes wandered over the tome again. It certainly was out of the ordinary, a juxtaposition made reality; the aged and formal design of the book, held in the hands of a teen wearing a beanie and a hoodie, two things that were very rarely seen together.
Still, it could be that looks were deceiving, and the tome before him was perhaps part of a school project or just a hobby. Either way, it didn't stop the Irish hero from asking the key question.
"Other than meself, have ye come across anythin' str-"
The appearance of the newcomer interrupted the question, though the Warden held no grudge. politely, he gave a nod.
"Hello there," he said. He decided to hold off on the new hero name, at least for the moment. It might raise too many questions.

| Someone else had approached them. This guy's costume apparently warranted a lot of attention."Oh Hey Finn, I'm Adam and this is..." Adam just realized that he hadn't actually learned this stranger's name yet. Just that he was particularly interested in happenings around Jump and his book. Adam closed his book upon meeting the stranger and stood, extending his hand with a light smirk.

| Finn seemed to keep the smile on his face, scratching his head with his left hand awkwardly. "Nice to meet you Adam, and......sir?", the oil boy said in confusion. What should he call the man since he didn't know his name? Sir or maybe man? Well man, might be disrespectful so it probably wouldn't be a good idea because he was only fourteen. It wasn't good to get cocky because you could really get yourself beat up. Finn seemed to reach out, grasping Adam's hand quite tightly. | |

| Well, his decision to keep quiet about his moniker didn't last too long. He thought that the costume might have done its part to prevent that.
"I'm known as the Aegis Warden, nowadays. Secret identities and the like, eh?" he gave a slight chuckle as he said this, being a little nervous.
"Nice to meet the both of you," he added, after a short pause.

| "Secret identities?" Adam was new to this whole hero thing, he'd never actually met one before and lived more in the normal world. When Trigon attacked or the Titans did their thing, he treated it as a natural occurrence in life, such as a tornado or Earthquake. The Titans seemed able to handle it so he tried not to worry or think about it. "Well it's nice to meet you both and I don't mean to seem rude, but Aegis would you mind if I asked you why you were talking to that officer earlier. It seemed pretty important and I've lived here my whole life, maybe I could help somehow." |

| Finn smiled when Aegis introduced himself. Was he actually beginning to be good? No.....he was Finn Oman. He was a bad boy. The only ways he would turn good is if somebody put a spell on him or something or somebody actually changed his mind about things. He wasn't purely evil so it would be a little easy to convince him. He was a little evil but not wicked because he was only fourteen. He did not kill, unless it was something that had to be done. Some might call him neutral but he believed he was a little evil. Who knew what the future held for him? "Haha, secret identities. Well maybe I should be going.", the oil-boy said, shuffling his hands in his pockets like he was nervous. | |

| The Irishman looked to Adam with a curious look, but didn't have too much of an issue with explaining why he was there.
"Well, ya'know the Titans?" he began, "Well, a couple of years ago, they just disappeared. With all these heroes and villains comin' out of the wood work, they could really help out right about now."
He paused a moment, scratching the back of his head.
"That, and, ya'know, powers or not, they were people. Someone's gotta miss 'em,"
He looked to Finn and gave a nod.
"'Tis alright, fella. It was nice ta meet ya," he said. He took note of the young man's nervousness, if it was nervousness he sensed. Aegis assumed that it was probably the costume or the surroundings, but he didn't wish to bring it up at all.

| "Ya know what, I remember that too. When the Titans disappeared, people were kind of shocked and afraid of what might happen. Then when the crime rate also went down and less supervillain activity occurred, people kind of mellowed out and accepted it. But, you're right..." Adam began rubbing his chin. "With the spike in super--er,uh..people activity lately. It might actually be a good idea to really get to the bottom of what's going on and what REALLY happened to them." Adam said in agreement. This kind of stuff never really crossed his mind before, but as of late, with current predicaments. He too was starting to wonder. "Oh, well it was nice meeting you anyway. Sorry, we held you up with this super people non-sense." Adam said snapping back to reality. |
