===POWERS===

Powers:
Pyrokinesis (and thermokinesis)

• At first glance, Torch is just like any other pyrokineticists out there: he creates fire and manipulates fire. Nothing new. However, his powers do not stop there. All the flashy flames are just a cover for his thermokinesis.
  
  At its base, Torch's pyrokinesis and thermokinesis spawn from atomic kinetic energy. By increasing or decreasing said kinetic energy, Torch may heat things up by transferring his own energy to said things or cool them down by sapping their heat and energize himself. (Though his powers seem to favor the heating aspect more than the other as he can only lower his surroundings' to a temperature 30 degrees Celsius below his body temperature). This implies that his body is like a battery, able to charge and discharge energy and transfer it to either feed himself or something else.
  
  
• Naturally, he is immune to fire and heat and resistant to electricity by super-heating the air, creating an "Air Lens" to block off electricity.
  
  
• Fire Mimicry: A last resort move that leaves Jayden unconscious and defenseless at best, Fire mimicry involves releasing a high amount of energy and consequently heat from his whole body, giving him the appearance of a walking "torch". It is extremely powerful, but extremely short-lived too. In this state, he loses all cognitive ability and simply goes on a rampage. However, instincts, all that he has left, will force him to shut down as soon as he's exhausted all the energy he can spare (around 5-6 mins at his peak physical condition) to ensure that he will not die of exhaustion like it or not (whether or not the situation allows it meaning that he can be dead in the heart of the enemy's HQ). He stumbled upon this by accident when he was testing his limits and experimenting on exactly how much heat he could release in a short amount of time. The result was catastrophic and he's been too ashamed to talk about it to anyone.
  
  
• Body Temperature Regulation: By releasing or absorbing heat, Torch can regulate his body's temperature and consequently slip right under the radar (thermo sensors). His body is fully functional even at extremely high temperature, but once it drops to 30 degrees Celsius below the usual temperature of a human body, he will start displaying symptoms of hypothermia which implies that he possesses a much better resistance against the cold than the average human.

===PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE===

Personality:
Though rather reserved and calm by nature (despite what one may think due to his powers), Jayden is an optimistic kid that tends to be a bit too trusting for his own good. He dislikes violence, often trying to talk his way out of fights, but knows its necessity.

Unfortunately, he has a very short attention span when it comes to things he does not deem very important and consequently, may appear to be an airhead. One may think he is dimwitted and forgetful, but he believes that he is simply very selective about what he focuses on. As a matter of fact, he is a tad bit of a perfectionist when it comes to things that matters in his opinion.

On the other hand, Jayden puts lots of thoughts behind his actions, but he also tends to overthink things and hesitate too much. He rarely follows his instincts or impulses without analyzing the situation properly unless the ones he cares about are in direct danger of death or his past records as a pickpocket are brought up (2 of his berserk buttons!)

Interests/Habits:
-Cooking: It has been his life long dream to be a cook and he makes practicing and trying out different recipes his hobby. Jayden also tends to get quite obsessive over it. Steal a bite before it's ready and risk a few 3rd degree burns.
-Reading, he's a bit of a bookworm though not exactly the nerd of the class either (even if he has the glasses for it). He just enjoys keeping his mind off of reality by keeping it busy let it be with Pythagorean equations or a good action-packed comic.

===PERSONAL BACKGROUND===

Family Members: The only one he cares about is his mother though he has caught himself thinking about his father and brother are doing more than once.

History:
Jayden was separated from his older brother at the age of 8 following his parents' divorce. While his brother and his father stayed in Canada, he and his mother left for the states in hopes of a better life. Unfortunately, the economy had been going downhill and Jayden soon saw his mother juggle between multiple jobs to make ends meet while providing him with a decent education. Despite their apparent hardship, Jayden remained optimistic and grew up to be an independent teen thanks to his absent mother though to say that he's reached his adolescence without any legal hiccups would be a lie.

Not exactly having grown up in a wealthy neighborhood, Jayden had his fare share of bad influences. Bad influences that got him into pickpocket along with other kids of the neighborhood for the benefit of their gang's leader, an older teen/young adult that apparently had ties with underground organizations according to rumors. Jayden first joined to get them off his case since he didn't have the money to pay a "toll", but soon grew into one of their most efficient pickpockets.

He didn't give much thought about his actions ("It's just some wallets, no one will die over it") until he and some of his "colleagues" were approached by their leader's acquaintances. They had been planning a bigger heist to test the runts' worth. A hangar had some crates they were interested in and they wanted to kids in on this. Their gang's leader had agreed, eager to prove himself despite how fishy it was for professionals to involve kids.

Of course, said professionals had ulterior motives that involved using the idiots as hostages as soon as the authority arrived. When that failed and vigilantes got involved, guns were drawn and to top it off, there were highly combustible substances in that hangar that were caught in the crossfire.

Only his newly discovered immunity to high temperatures and fire allowed him to escape with nothing more than a few scrapes and bruises. It was only after a trip to the hospital, a visit from local police investigators and a nervous breakdown from his mother that he realized what he had gotten himself into. After being "grounded for life and the next", Jayden resigned himself to focusing on his studies though his now confirmed immunity to fire came back to nag him at the back of his mind.

By the time Jayden was of age to attend High School, Jayden's mother had remarried a wealthy businessman. The marriage made them move to Steel City where Jayden had to attend a new school in a new city and live with a man that was little more than a stranger to him. Needless to say that the situation did not please him one bit, but he simply settled with the fact that it made his mother happy and the money brought about new opportunities for him.

Somehow between his studies and the various sports club he joined, he managed to find time to experiment with his abilities. He started with simple things such as testing how much heat can his body withstand. When he noticed that he could do more than just bear the heat of fire, his experiments took a different turn especially when he started grasping the notion of heat and energy through his studies.

Despite the easy life he now had amidst one of the wealthiest neighborhood of Steel, restlessness soon started nibbing at him. Jayden had all these powers and lived in a crime infested world. Shouldn't he be doing something to help the less fortunate?

Was this really a good idea? He had already gone over the plan countless times in his mind and despite the apparent success of part 1, weighing heavily in his backpack, something still felt wrong. Strangers on the streets appeared to be staring longer than necessary and their housekeeper's scowl seemed to be deeper than the norm despite his nonchalant act. If he so much as stopped a little bit, he could feel accusing fingers pointing at him, but it was not possible. They couldn't know. His increasing paranoia was worrying as he had never felt so strongly about his previous robberies. Okay, they weren't exactly as big of a robbery as this one since all he had done previously was pickpocketing, a far stretch from the small jet propeller pieces he had snatched from his stepfather's warehouse. The old man had a bunch piled up in there so it wasn't as though he would miss one or two. Still, he could have sworn that he had tripped over something when he had slipped in and the place had smelled funny. Not dusty-moldy funny, but chemical.

His train of thoughts and internal rambling were interrupted rather abruptly by a cold, controlled voice that called him over from one of the smaller waiting rooms of their estate as soon as he headed for the stairs. "A word if I may, Jayden."

The teen stiffened visibly at the use of his name. Speak of the Devil...Did he find out? No way! It had barely been half an hour...then again he may have triggered the security system, but it wasn't as though he walked into the warehouse screaming high and loud who he was. Carefully schooling his emotions, he joined the man that had intruded into his relatively stable life.

The older man did not show any other emotions apart from a crease of the brow that may have hinted towards a frown as he made his way into the small room. Jayden was spared from the trouble of coming up with a decent greeting when the man spoke first, but the words made his blood run cold. "I heard about your recent growing interest in aviation and jet engines."

The pregnant pause that followed as well as the critical look he received made it clear that a reply was not called for and he was to simply to stay quiet to allow the older man to analyze him.
