Atlantean Physiology Atlanteans are very different from humans in many ways, while they may look similar cosmetically, the biological makeup of Atlanteans is where you will find the majority of differences. Atlanteans need to be able to survive in the deep depths of the Ocean, and thus are physically built for purpose. Naturally, all Atlanteans can breathe underwater for as long as they wish, without any ill effects or repercussions. Atlanteans are not simply restricted to the sea either, as they are able to survive on land as well. However, this is limited as they can only survive for so long before needing to return to the Sea. In Mia’s case, she is capable of surviving on land for up to thirty six hours before needing to return to the Ocean. But this duration can be varied at time, being extended or shortened dependent on several factors; mostly the atmospheric condition of where she is. A cold, wet and damp atmosphere would extend the time she can remain on land, whilst prolonged exposure to heat would dehydrate Mia; forcing her need to return to the sea significantly.
Atlanteans are much stronger than humans when it comes to their physical attributes. When it comes to strength for example, Mia has slightly above average Atlantean strength, capable of lifting a maximum of thirty five tonnes. It’s worth noting that underwater, the strength of Atlanteans is amplified quite a bit. Being underwater, Mia’s strength would rise from being able to lift thirty five tonnes to round about one hundred tonnes; still small compared to Aquaman. Mia also has a great deal of stamina as well, much like all Atlanteans who need stamina and durability in order to survive the varying differences of pressure in the depths of the Ocean. It is increased more so through the military training that Mia has received from the Royal Guard, as well as with her mother, so she is certainly one tough cookie. Atlantean skin is strong as it is, very durable. Psychical attacks won’t penetrate the skin as easily, nor be felt quite the same; it takes a little more persistence and strength to do some damage. Though elemental attacks, magic and bullets have near enough the same effect on Atlanteans as they do on Humans; maybe with a slight buffer of resistance to water and ice based attacks. Such stamina helps Mia a great deal with movement. Naturally all Atlanteans are very good swimmers, and Mia is no exception. Her highest ever speed when swimming clocks at about forty five miles per hour, and with her stamina she can keep up that speed for up to two hours before needing some form of rest or nutrition. Mia’s speed and agility is only better than a humans through her training, able to move quicker and more fluently than most; mostly seen through combat. And like all Atlanteans, Mia’s reflexes are about five to six times greater than the average human, making her a formidable combatant. With living underwater, senses are heightened to reflect the surroundings as well. Sight is enhanced for example, to allow for clear vision through the murky depths of the sea, whilst hearing and smell are also improved in order to track prey and predators alike. Physically, Atlanteans are very impressive as they are. With Mia’s training, she is certainly an Atlantean warrior.
All Atlanteans also have a form of telepathy. It’s very weak mind you, only capable of creating a telepathic link with other Atlanteans. No other species can be contacted through this telepathy, it’s an Atlantean exclusive… not much use for it when Atlanteans rarely venture from Atlantis.
Hydrokinesis Atlanteans from Dimension Aqua are born with natural magical capabilities within the element of water. Mia is capable of generating, shaping, absorbing, manipulating and controlling all forms of water in whatever way she desires. Mia tends to favour forming hydrokinetic hard water constructs, usually in the forms of shields, walls, spears and so forth. These constructs are unlike their real life counterparts, as they would not pierce the skin. Instead, they are filled with the force and pressure of the water. A wall or shield may be tough enough to work like their real life counterpart, but will at the very least be a slow process for anyone trying to move through them. When it comes to travelling using this power, Mia opts for surfing; being able to generate a wave beneath her that she can surf along; quite the sight to see. It is however, worth noting that Hydrokinesis can be matched or opposed by the following; Electricity, Fire, Heat, Ice and Sand. As well as the larger bodies of water needing to be controlled can be quite taxing on her energy levels.
However, Mia has been shown to rely on her Hydrokinesis for more defensive capabilities rather than offensive; though she can still produce a damaging burst/blast of water (etc.) if needed, or even form a whip out of water as a secondary weapon. The defensive capabilities of water is quite astounding, being able to throw up a water shield to quickly dodge an attack or create a wall or barrier of water in front of her. With lots of water, Mia can even try to get the water to ensnare a target for her.
.::SKILLS::.
Swimming Like all Atlanteans, Mia is indeed an amazing swimmer; far exceeding that of an Olympic level athlete. Swimming is a basic skill to an Atlantean, a skill that is as natural to them as walking is to humans. But just because Mia has to know how to swim doesn’t make her as good at it as it is. Whilst true, it’s a passive skill that one can’t help but naturally progress further. Mia’s very own great conditioning makes her better at swimming than most Atlanteans. Mia’s top speed when swimming is 60mph, her level in this skill speaks for itself, really.
Acrobatics While Mia hasn’t attended any clown school, nor worked in a circus. She has picked up the art of acrobatics through her own tuition. Moving through the sea, between the waves, it can be such a dud. It’s important to add a little style, a little flare to the way you move. Mia can only truly show of her acrobatic skill at sea, on land… she’s average at best.
Parkour Whilst being able to move so fluently underwater, Mia wasn’t too happy with the speed of walking/running everywhere like the everyday man. Thus, she learnt Parkour; in her free time, and through practice in Combat Room exercises. Mia has become quite proficient at it, capable of scaling buildings fairly fast, as well as move across the city. It’s not only great for manoeuvring about, but it also helps in combat; with dodging and close quarters fights.
Hand to Hand Combat Mia has received hand to hand combat training from her mother Hila, and Queen Mera. Mia was for a time an understudy within the Royal Guard; where they offered even further training. It’s safe to say that Mia can defend herself without a weapon, capable of utilizing her Hydrokinesis to aid her further; especially defensively.
.::WEAKNESSES::.
Dehydration Mia is very weak when it comes to heat, intense heat at least. Her skin typically remains wet, or at least damp at all times. Heat will cause Mia to lose a big chunk of energy, resulting in her lacking in physical strength as well as being able to generate water from her Hydrokinetic abilities. It is worth noting as well, that being dehydrated can result in the diminishing of her physical form, as strength for example; can become up to only a tenth of what it may be underwater.
Asphyxiation It has previously been said already, but. Mia can only survive on land for a set period of time before needing to return to the sea. The general time would be thirty six hours, however that duration may be altered depending on other certain factors, such as temperature, atmosphere etc. It is worth noting as well, that being on land and not hydrated can result in the diminishing of her physical form, as strength for example; can become up to only a tenth of what it may be underwater.
Exhaustion Controlling and manipulating water, especially large bodies of water may consume a lot of energy very rapidly. The more Mia does with her Hydrokinesis, the more energy she must use. Not only that, like everyone else, physical activity may tire her out after a while as well.
Atlantean Being an Atlantean, Mia does have some degree of more resistance from attacks, but she’s not immune to them. All forms of attacks will manage to hurt her, some may take a little more time; Atlantean skin can be rather difficult to pierce through. Though disease, poisons and toxins will work on her the same they would any human; so don’t expect her not to request you use a tissue for a flu.
Electricity The problem Mia has with being Atlantean is that her skin tends to be very damp. Anyone who has done low level science can tell you, electricity and water don’t mix… in fact, it makes an explosive combination. Therefore, be prepared for Mia to avoid electricity at any and all costs.
Lead As with all Atlanteans of Dimension Aqua; exposure to a large amount of lead causes Mia to completely lose her hydrokinesis powers for as long as she is exposed to it. It's almost like Krytonite in a way, nullifying her water powers. As such, you will never see Mia within a stationary store.
.::PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE::.
Likes Sea Hila Girls Pepsi Dudes Surfing Swimming Electro Rock Wet Suiting Up (Please get the reference)
Dislikes Puns Coke Leron Atlantis Cowards Aquaman Electronics Black Manta Extreme Heat Neptune’s Beard Being Interrupted Lists Irony
Personality Well, Mia can be described with numerous words; confident, catty, witty, immature and just plain cruel. Mia has no problem with cutting down anyone who stands before her; usually doing so with a few immature jokes to accompany the act. Mia is driven and determined to achieve the goal she was sent from Dimension Aqua to do, believing in her strengths and abilities to see through the task. But also, Mia is a very bad loser.She doesn't enjoy failing, and it doesn't help that she has a rather short fuse. Â Mia has a few anger issues, and a bad temper; able to get enraged about the smallest of things. Though her temper can be her strength in a way; as she seems to be a lot more destructive when ticked off, lacking the ability to just give up. It really is what makes her a great combatant, and a highly rated one among the people of Atlantis during her tenure there. Though, Mia is not at all good with all the other touchy, feely emotional crap really. She tends to close off her emotions, bottling them up rather than show weakness. Probably because she was bred to be a warrior, that anger is the only good trait to show.
.::BACKGROUND::.
Family Members Hila (Mother) Queen Mera (Aunt) Place of Origin Xebel, Dimension Aqua Current Location Jump City History Xebel is where Mia was born - a forgotten extra dimensional (Dimension Aqua) penal colony of Atlantis, home to a group of separatist Atlanteans that is sealed behind a portal within the Bermuda Triangle. Mia is the daughter of Hila, the twin sister of Queen Mera, the Queen of Atlantis.
Mera left Dimension Aqua, and the events followed led to Mera leaving her mantle as Queen of Dimension Aqua. With this mantle left with nobody to rule, it was left to Leron; an enemy of both Mera, and Aquaman. Mera’s sister; Hila was still in Dimension Aqua at the time of Leron beginning his rule, and had a daughter, Mia, to take care of. With Leron ruling Dimension Aqua, Hila had opted to keep Mia out of Xebel, as being inside the city would prove to be dangerous with Leron ruling. On the furthest outskirts of Xebel, Hila raised her daughter with a set plan in mind, one of which she would need her daughter for; her daughter would be the key to her being let out of this dimension. Upon reaching her teenage years, Hila would begin actively teaching her daughter Mia to have some degree of better control over her hydrokinetic powers. It was the right thing to do with Mia coming of age, as soon she would have no choice but to defend herself in the dangerous waters of Dimension Aqua. When the time seemed right, Hila would contact Mera through telepathy. Mera was of course in Atlantis, but she had a link to her sister, Hila. Hila asked Mera to travel to dimension aqua and to take her daughter, Mia, to the oceans of the Earth, where she’ll be safe. Mera of course, didn’t trust her sister, but couldn’t say ‘no’ to perhaps giving her niece a chance to be free of that horrid dimension. As such, Mera travelled to Dimension Aqua, acting fast as to avoid attracting the attention of Leron; a bitter rival. Mera collected Mia, and teleported Mia and herself, back to Atlantis.
Upon arrival in Atlantis, through telepathy Hila contacted her daughter, Mia. Telling her of what she was to do now on Earth. Mia was to find a way to open the barrier between Earth and Dimension Aqua, so that she may free Hila; whom would seek to become Queen like her sister before. Mera was oblivious to this, and introduced Mia to her Atlantis family as her niece. Despite Aquaman being aware of whom Mia was the daughter of, still, Mia was welcomed into the Family, and spent a lot of time being treated just as well as anyone else who was of Atlantean Royal heritage. Where Mia was from, and who her mother was never was hidden; even if Mia had wished so, Mera and Aquaman would of spilled the news anyway. Mia was always subject of some mistrust though, there was nothing she could do that would counter act the opinion her mother had garnered. When ‘The Vanishing’ occurred, and Atlantis was left without Aquaman or Queen Mera – fingers were pointed, accusations made, all towards Mia, whom the people of Atlantis felt responsible. The Atlantis Royal Guard had taken over control in the absence of their king and queen, no matter what Mia could say there was a firm belief among the Royal Guard and the people of Atlantis that Mia was somehow involved. The Royal Guard were set to apprehend Mia, but fortunately enough she managed to get away, fleeing Atlantis.
