Steel City

As many of you may have noticed (and this acts as a note for those who didn't) we now have a new city. o.o Its called "Steel City", and its sorta based off Gotham in a way, instead of the real Steel City in the show. Its main purpose: to counteract Jump City's overpopulation problem.

Atmosphere:

I'm gonna use the same words to describe Steel City as Dennis O'Neil used for Gotham: "[Steel City is] Manhattan below Fourteenth Street at eleven minutes past midnight on the coldest night in November." Its currently the second most dangerous city in America and not a very nice place to live. Overrun with criminals, gang activity and corrupted on nearly every level. A largely industrial city, its polluted enough to put Bludhaven to shame, and the level of gang activity rivals Dakota.

Police and corruption:

A common theme in stories set in Steel is the rampant and recurring corruption within the city's civil authorities and infrastructure, most notably within the Steel City Police Department. The current Comissioner has his hands in many pockets and has been charged with conspiracy charges more times than can be counted, yet action fails to be taken against him because he's married to one of the daughters of Newgate.

The Police, but they're more corrupt than Gotham PD and that's pretty bad. Though, there have been rumors erupting that more and more heroes such as a new heroine by the name of Spider-Girl, Whoop-Ant, and some other non-insect themed heroes have moved into town and began making a name for themselves. Steel City has become new heroes stomping ground in a sorts, in an attempt to combat it's ever rising crime rate and drug imports, as well as make it a better and safer place to live overall. The question is; can it really be done or is Steel as solidly corrupt as it's name suggest?

The Spider-Society: A sort of terrorist organization that is usually only troublesome for other gangs claiming turf in Steel. The group started about a year after Spider-Girl showed up and made her presence known, causing a small recruitment movement by an unknown woman and a bunch of teens/people who want to take their city back from crime and corruption. They claim to be maximum supporters of Spider-Girl and her efforts. They can usually be caught thwarting drug trafficking operations, running raids on local gangs such as the East Side Gunz and the Newgate Crime Family, who both have hits on the Society's mysterious leader. In addition to having frequent run-in's with the more crooked authorities. The police have dubbed the Spider-Society a cult in support of a career criminal and vigilante. It is suspected that under the pressure of Powers that the Steel City police department has been forced to warn anyone caught supporting the following will be arrested on the spot. Despite this, the amount of members on the street beefing it with the likes Skull Saders is rising exponentially as time goes on.

As you can guess from above, Steel isn't a very nice place to be. The reason we made the city is because seriously, 50 heroes in one city is not gonna cut. >.> Jump I mean. So, I proposed the idea of a new city and Emblem liked it. Hence, now its here.

If you want, you can move any one of your old characters from Jump to there. It doesn't have any heroes yet, except a few who just recently moved there (a kiss to the person who can figure out who [no Emmy, you and Krikrichan don't count, so keep yer mouths shut]) and they've decided to take on the role of protecting it. There are no Titans Teams there, yet, I wanna see it get a bit more populated before allowing one to be stationed.

If you are making characters for this city, be sure to keep its dark and gritty atmosphere in mind. Its the opposite of Jump. We're basically looking for villains and mobsters, because this place would their one safe haven. Punks, junkies, gunsels, enforcers, wise guys, leg-breakers, muscle boys, evil Metahumans are what we're primarily looking for.

I might consider making a char for there because Austin and Tyler wouldn't really fit in. Possibly someone like Red hood(Jason Todd version) or Nighthawk(new squadron supreme) who is trying to clean up the streets and will kill people to do so. Or in Nighthawks case throw small knives in their eyes.

Simca, how did you convince apache to go there? I'd imagine he put up quite a struggle, since he had sworn to protect Jump, or even moreso, because he could not stand all the industrial mayhem without any clean nature?

Seth might move his opperation to Steel City. It seems like he would be able to find what he's looking for there much easier. This would mean that Dar would probably be moving, too.

North Side: Apartments
Housing a majority of Gotham's population, this is where most of the middle class dwells. Though a little cramped, the North Side also houses a series of affordable amusements and some of the most popular fast food joints around. However, you might wanna make sure your door has all three locks sealed, because the Red-Haired Dragons take no prisoners.

Pylon
Pylon was established only a few years ago and since then it has established what many consider a cult following as teenagers from all over the city gathered to see Gotham's hottest new club. And although they claim to be a legitimate business, in recent months it has been a cause for concern as customers slowly started to turn up dead.

Even the typos are about Gotham lol
