Powers
Touch of the shadowlands: Evan's unique gift, or curse as he calls it, gives him a connection with shadows and darkness that allows him to call upon all shadow around him. To manipulate and use it as he sees fit. Even opening portals through the shadowlands to seemingly teleport up to twenty five feet from point a to b. So long as there's shadow,  or any of his shadow constructs within that distance. This includes fusing with shadows, his own or the surrounding areas to phase through objects, lobbing globs of condensed shadow at someone to obscure their vision, or to simply snuff out man-made light sources.

The blackhand: How he decided upon his code name. The blackhand is a direct conduit with the shadowlands and consequently, the energies within. Unlike normal darkness, the energy Evan can pull through from the realm of shadows is very much like a void, a black spot, even in the brightest light and can be shaped into solid constructs; barriers and blockades. Or grasping whipping tendrils. The barriers themselves are sturdy and can take a beating with a durability of 17 tons. Stronger attacks, will break them in predictably quick fashion. While the tendrils can lift upwards of 15 tons. Aside from the protective nature, he can also manipulate these shadow energies as a means to attack. Evan is capable of throwing Bolts, beams and cascading waves of entropic darkness out that batter and slam his targets with surprisingly brutal force. Capping out at 15 tons. Or, he can do the same thing with his hands, or more commonly, his baseball bat.

Now, this does something a bit different than simply making him hit harder and is primarily why, the blackhand's so darn spoopy. It drains the stamina and power from a target when in direct contact; touching, grabbing, hitting. And he can pass that unique gift onto something he's holding. And the longer it maintains contact, the more it siphon's off. It takes roughly four minutes of continuous contact to render a target completely powerless. But the longer he maintains contact the weaker the target gets. The effect of the power drain lasts for several hours, whereas the stamina can be recovered simply by resting.

And you might ask, what happened to the power he siphoned off? He's borrowing it, of course. Not in full, mind you. Only small bits and pieces at a time. In the simple aspects of him leeching strength, durability or speed off someone, it caps out at a max of two tons, or upwards of fifty mph. But he doesn't really use it himself, rather, he infuses it into his shadows. Otherwise he'd probably catch fire and die, if he absorbed pyrokinesis. Which, by the way, would give him fiery bolts of umbral energy. It's a temporary thing, sort of like injecting nitrous into a car engine for a short lived boost. Only get's to use that "borrowed" power for upwards of several minutes (three posts). And he needs to maintain contact for at least a full post, to gain any benefit from the leeching.

Tranquil empathy: Evan is a surprisingly calm individual and that's, primarily because he has such an absurd level of control over his own emotions. A perk of his connection, or a curse. He's not sure. But he can suppress his own emotions, dull them down to a safe enough level that he can function, and his powers don't inadvertently go berserk. This has several benefits. One of which, and possibly the most important, is that Evan simply can't be shaken. He can feel the emotions, he understands them. But they slide off him like water off a lotus leaf, allowing him to remain calm and in control of a situation. The other side effect is, without the emotions getting in the way of well, everything, Evan has something of an empathic form of superhuman will in that he simply doesn't let his emotions get in the way of what he's doing, nor does he let pesky things like pain and distress slow him down, either.

The final and most obvious thing is, he can read a person's emotions. Can practically taste and smell them in the air. Happiness, fear, anger, revulsion, despair. Nothing on the emotional spectrum is off-limits and quite frankly, it's the biggest part that he hates the most. Even if it can let him know when someone's eying him up for a brand new exhaust port, because he can intrinsically tell when someone is directing certain emotions at him. And he can't really shut it off.

Force-field generation: Evan can tap into the shadowlands energies to cloak himself in a thin field, a screen of energy. It fits to his body, creates a weird distortion around him that warps the air and space adjacent to his person, like the edge of a blackholes event horizon. This screen of energy acts as a natural buffer against attacks. A cushion, designed to soften blows that's capable of withstanding thirteen tons of force that also makes him immune to most mundane sources of heat and cold, all forms of radiation and generates it's own supply of air. Allowing him to venture into space if he could. He's not wading through lava or, for that matter, molten steel. Or, on the opposite spectrum of temperature extremes. Liquid nitrogen. But, he can sit in a burning building, swim in the waters of the north pole or, float aimlessly in space and be absolutely fine.

Skills
Exceptional thief: People that rely on Evan's skills in larceny, joke that Evan learned how to pick a lock before he could walk and was finger-smithing peoples wallets before he could talk. But all the jokes aside, Evan has been in the larceny trade for a long time. Learned how to burgle homes, knuckle wallets, scrutinize everything, get into places he shouldn't be getting into with pick, tumble and other tools of the trade and generally just be a larcenous ne'er-do-well.

Exceptional fighter: Evan's taken classes in how to fight, krav maga to be more precise, for it's simple pragmatic approach. He's been working hard at practicing, has been for nearly six years and the experience shows. He can hold his own against most, engaging in grappling joint locks; targeting points of leverage and soft spots, like the ears, eyes and throat. He fights dirty like that, is practically encouraged to. No one else is gonna fight fairly, so why should he?

Skilled legerdemain: Evan's got deft hands, quick and skilled, practiced with years of picking pockets and that translates into the art of legerdemain; sleight of hand. The art of misdirection. If it can fit in the palm of his hand and, is no bigger than an apple, you probably won't know he took it unless you were literally watching him. He's also, not surprisingly, good at mundane magic, like card tricks and making things appear behind ears.

Homecook: Surprisingly Evan knows how to cook. Trial, error and lots of time at home, has taught and honed his skills. He's a decent enough cook, his siblings and mother seem to think so at least, and that's probably all that matters to him and his small plethora of cuisines.

Abilities
Peak human stamina: Evan's got staying power, endurance, from long hours of cardio training. Running, jogging, ect. He's about on par with an olympic athlete, can certainly stay in a fight or generally, keep up with most people moving at a quick run for upwards of two hours.

Peak human strength: Evan's strong where it counts. Maybe not in terms of lifting heavy weights but in pounds per square inch, in force imparted. He can definitely lift, boy's got a wiry strength to him and can certainly heft about twice his own body weight. But when he starts laying out punches or kicks, he can deliver some hard blows. Generating upwards of half a ton of force with a punch, or, fifteen hundred pounds with a kick. More than enough to break the average person's ribs.

Peak human durability: Evan's tough. Not superhumanly so, but he's still ridiculously tough for a normal person. Can certainly take a beating that would otherwise incapacitate someone else. Even without his powers helping him out against people otherwise too strong to take normally, he can sort of shrug off quite a bit of human level damage and even withstand a few blows from someone with enhanced strength.

Physical Weaknesses
Human: He has the same old human weaknesses. He's no tougher than anyone else. Not without his powers at least, and even those have a limit.

Magic: Another problem with Evan's umbral energies is that, while they can exist in natural and man-made light, they can barely function in the presence of magical based light. This light has a habit of burning off or stifling Evan's overall powers, weakening him greatly. In the presence of this light, his powers lose seventy five percent of their overall strength

The blackhand: The blackhand takes a bit of effort to use, to consciously rip and harvest energy from a different plane of existence. It takes concentration to use. Focus. Calm. It's a surprisingly capricious energy and tends to get unruly when Evan experiences strong emotions. Backlash and random outbursts of energy are common and his powers, ultimately, get weaker; losing half their effective strength and becoming harder to control. And, because it should be clarified, Evan has to be using either his physical hands, or a physical medium grasped in his hands, to initiate leech mode.exe.


Mental Weaknesses

His family: Evan loves his family. His sisters, his mom. Maybe not his uncles. But his immediate family. He's willing to do anything to keep them safe. Even work for people that could, if they find out, use their existence as "leverage". Or in blunter terms. Hostages.

Alcohol: Evan drinks. A lot. And I mean, a pretty staggering amount at times. It helps dull his empathic abilities when they get to be too much to simply handle

Equipment
Baseball bat: A brand new maple hardwood bat with duct tape wrapped around the handle and several large bolts and screws drilled through the head. Time to get medieval, with a splash of urban flair.




Personality
Evan's an interesting example of duality, a person that wears two faces. Two masks. The one he wears for the world at large, of the selfishly aloof jackass that rarely lifts a finger to help unless he get's something out of it. And the one he wears around his family. The people he genuinely cares for. The warm gentle side, the side that is generally more at ease, relaxed, able to just open the flood gates enough to feel...at home and appreciate what he has in life.
