Another Day, Another Mistake (Open)

The sidewalks were cramped with pedestrians bustling through the streets. Many happened to bump into eachother quite a lot. With such a crowd it was easy to ignore a hooded, masked girl walking through it, looking to the ground. The girls pace was that of a brisk walk, as if they knew where they wanted to go. And in fact, she did. She was running low on batteries, and she needed to get more. And that meant stealing. She turned to look at a, rather large, electronics store that seemed like easy prey. She took a deep breath, and walked up towards the door.

Silver stepped inside, hiding her face from the bored store clerk and instead walking straight to the back of the shop. She searched for what she wanted, grabbing them and stuffing them into her pocket. Good so far. She took what she needed, which had included a few items other than batteries. She quietly walked back towards the front of the store, acting like she hadn't found what she wanted. She stepped through the front door.

What she didn't expect was the beeping detector at the exit. She heard it and began to rush out of the door, cutting through the crowd and down the street.
She hoped no one was coming after her.

Oh what unlucky timing for this girl, she had just happened to be stealing from a store just as a hero was passing by on patrol. The hero in particular, Kicker, spotted her running for it as the alarm went off and he followed her, using his powers to kick the air, allowing him to dash through it, it kind of looked like a combination of running and flying. Either way, it was fast, fast enough that he was easily staying in pursuit of her from 5 metres in the air. She would stay in pursuit and wouldn't do anything yet, but it would be impossible for her to not notice the figure in the air.

The hooded girl rushed through the pedestrian filled streets, noticing a shadow that seemed to be coming from above the masked girl. Silver didn't look up, knowing it would only break her concentration and flow. She ran as quickly as she could, trying to gain ground compared to the chaser. She looked straight ahead, realizing she was running close to a dead end, and began to panic. She rushed over to a nearby alleyway. Silver jumped onto a dumpster, using the extra height to jump up onto a window ledge. She needed to get onto the roof, to escape the dead end, and the person chasing her. She tried to remember where the nearest bag of power supplies was, in case she had to fight her way out of this predicament.

As the chase carried on, Kane waited for an opportunity to confront her while she was separated from the crowd. He saw her go into an alleyway and decided that his chance was now, he noticed that she was heading for the roof and decided to wait for her on the roof she was going up. When she arrived, she would see him slightly far away, so as to not be too intimidating, although he probably didn't look too scary in a hoodie and jeans, the only reason you could tell he was a superhero was because of the trademark 'K' on his chest Listen up, I'm not gonna hurt you, but you should return whatever it was you stole

Silvers hands were trembling as she climbed onto the roof. She wasnt used to being chased by anyone other than the people trying to get her to the orphanage. She scrambled up quickly, standing straight and preparing to run when she noticed someone else on the roof. Her masked face turned to look towards the other person. There were a few strands of her silver hair coming out from under her hood, and from her body language she seemed surprised. Silver could deduce he was the one who had been chasing her. The K on his chest was blaringly obvious and she could also deduce he was a crimefighter.

She heard him speak and shook her head, putting her hand in her pocket and clenching her other hand into a fist. She needed it. She didnt have enough clothing, enough power. She turned to the side, rushing off across the rooftops. From her clearly elegant running and acrobatics, it would be easy to see that she was used to this environment.

Kane waited for her to respond in some kind of way, but instead she just ran away. It was obvious she was pretty good at parkouring, but that didn't really compare to Kane's super jump, he waited a few seconds before jumping, clearing her head and landing metres in front of her, he was making it clear that she would not be able to get away, but at the same time he was very hesitant to act without good reason too Hey, c'mon. At least tell me why you're doing this. Maybe I can help you

Silver ran across the roof, keeping her eyes on her feet. She looked up, noticing he had somehow gotten in front of her. How had he done that? Her shoes squeaked as she turned to the side to stop herself by a slide. She stopped near the edge of a roof, the strange crimefighter on the one beside it. She turned her head quickly, looking around for anyway to make an escape. If he could do that, she didn't know if she could.

"Hey, c'mon. At least tell me why you're doing this. Maybe I can help you." Silver heard the male speak again, and she narrowed her eyes behind her mask. She didn't have time for this. She needed to think about how to do this. Would she fight? Would she try to take advantage of the boy, who didn't seem to be older than 19? She could try manipulation, but who knew what else this male could do. Silver turned towards the older boy, one hand still in her pocket, the other still clenched. She didn't trust him, but running didn't seem like an option. It scared her, she always relied on her evasive maneuvers. But now she was too slow.

The girl seemed quite unresponsive, Kane frowned C'mon, if you just surrender and give the stuff back you won't get in trouble, you'd just get scolded he didn't want to be that one guy who just attacked people for no reason, even though he did have a reason! Kane was willing to give her chances, but if she continually refused he would have to move in.

Silver sighed in an aggravated tone. She needed these things to survive, she wouldn't just give them up. And after that scare it'd be even harder for her to get things, as her profile would be everywhere! She decided to try to play for the sympathy. She took a few steps towards him, her left hand still clenched, her other slowly coming down to her other side.
"I need it." Everything she did was for self preservation, though she did take advantage of people a lot, and sometimes it wasn't totally needs, she still did it for her own good.

She seemed to give up and would walk on closer, Kane didn't let his guard down just in case she decided to attack or something, she said that she needed whatever she had stolen, Kane thought about it for a second What exactly did you take? Why do you need it? maybe she really was innocent, maybe it wasn't worth taking her to jail just for taking whatever it is.

Silver tilted her head slightly, pausing her steps towards him. Both hands were now clenched into fists, and her bun seemed to be coming undone."I took what I needed to protect myself." She knew if he saw that it was batteries, he would be confused and think she was lying. Well. It didn't mean she wasn't really, but still. She just wanted to get out of the area as quickly as possible, before anyone else showed up.

Kane didn't notice her bun starting to undo itself, or her fists clenching, as far as he was aware she had no plans on getting violent But what did you take? I want to help you he couldn't help but wonder if maybe she was lying based on the way she was avoiding the truth, he didn't want to act yet but he was starting to think that maybe it's wrong of him to be holding back against someone who has done nothing to prove she is not a criminal.

Silver sighed. She might as well show him. If she had to fight him at least she had the batteries in ber hand. Her right clenched hand went into her pocket, taking out and showing him a large pack of batteries. She also had stolen a shirt, but she didnt take that out. "There." She was tense, preparing for an attack. If there was one thing she knew about law enforcers, it was that most of them attacked first and asked questions later. She was very lucky the boy hadn't attacked yet, and so she didn't try to fix her hair as it fell out of the hair band. Her mass of silver hair was mostly caught by her hood, however a few of the shorter strands fell into place around her white and black mask.

Kane was prepared to dodge a gunshot or knifeswipe, but it proved to be neither, instead it was a cluster of batteries, Kane was confused for a second but he figured it probably had something to do with her having superpowers, it's not exactly an impossible occurrence in this city Do you have powers or something? If it's for that then I'd be a hypocrite for punishing you if Silver didn't try to start anything, she may be able to leave this unscathed.

Silver seemed taken aback by his reply, though it wasn't shown by her mask. She put them back in her pocket quickly. He wasn't attacking her? Her stance relaxed a small bit, and she bit her lip underneath her mask. "Uh. Yeah." That was a first. She was still waiting for an attack, for others to come jumping in out of nowhere and attack her.
