Magnificent Timing(Rin, others ask)

The city hall of Jump city was a focal point of both morale and military power. Morale because it was quite literally in the middle of the city. If a building could be a flagship(and the towers weren't an option) then this building was the current flagship of the military, for those who didn't have power. As such, its destruction would deal a great blow to the outlook of the people and the soldiers.

It also would deal real military damage though. The city hall was a military meeting center. Even if it didn't kill anyone it would ruin a base of operation. The real problem here was that it was probably going to kill someone...but to the Russian army, that was a victory. That was why they had a small, yet elite team infiltrating the area now, under the cover of night, to plant explosives in the building. It was imperative that they do so without being seen or even suspected so that the explosives maximum effect would be seen...it was too late for that though.

"You have no chance!" she cried out, leaping from side to side, avoiding small arms fire. Miss Magnificent had been on their case since they had landed, several miles from here on the coast, which she had seen from the roof of Titans tower. Now she had them on the run...but they were running the wrong way!! These five men were all heading TOWARDS the city hall, not away. It seemed that they wanted to destroy the structure at the very least, no matter the cost. She erected a single large shield to block their path as they ducked down an alley. Success. She was finally within range t-

They opened fire on her suddenly and she ducked behind her shield and went into a crouch, deflecting all of the bullets. One of the men carefully aimed the underbarrel grenade launcher at the shield, knowing he'd need a near exact hit. But with her inability to look, and current lack of a line of sight, there was no way she'd be able to spot the danger before he fired!

Gunfire was probably Mav's least favorite sound. It meant trouble. It meant someone or something could be facing mortal peril. People might call her a hypocrite for thinking such things. After all, she had firearms usage in her repertoire of skills too. But she would like to believe that she never used them unless really necessary. Tonight's commotion was in an alleyway not too far off from City Hall. She made her way jumping over the rooftops to get to the scene.

The heroine arrived to find two sides engaging each other: military operatives who were likely Russian based on their gear, and a girl (?) ducking behind a shield as they attempted to pepper her with bullets.  One of the Russians figured it was a good time to bring out the big guns... not if Mav had anything to say about it. From her position up on the roof, she jumped down, activating her aura and aiming to crash feet first on the soldier with the launcher to stop him from firing.

Miss M peeked out from behind her shield as the gunfire quickly changed intensity and direction right after a loud crash sounded through the street. She was surprised to see another hero, though she wasn't sure what she had expected instead, a failed grenade launch? Well, that would have been preferable. They would all be gone and the problem would be solved. Too bad.

As her enemies turned to face the new threat Miss Marvelous was already back to running towards them. Their rather crushed and probably well injured friend was yelling about something and this new enemy took priority....right behind the mission. Two of the men split off as soon as the woman dropped onto the one, two stayed behind. All of them were seamless in their actions, a well trained group of soldiers indeed. She rose a shield in the front of the two soldiers, protecting her new ally from the soldier's lead. She tried to knock one soldier down by rushing him with her shield, but he managed to spring board off instead. Miss Magnificent ducked behind he shield once again, looking at Maverique. "Hello there, fellow hero!" she said over the sound of gunfire.

Highly trained enemies and tight urban spaces. It's like the entire situation was engineered to Mav's talents. The soldiers seemed to have their priorities straight, leaving a couple to stall her while the rest moved on to their objective. Thinking ahead, she should be able to head them off by taking to the rooftops once more. But before she could act, a shield materialized in front of her, probably made with the intention to protect her from the incoming gunfire. The other hero had stepped out from her hiding place and rushed forward to try to follow-up on Mav's attack.

"Good evening to you too! Any chance you know what they're after? Would make planning on what to do next a little easier."

Mav leaped over the shield. She didn't really need it. She then dashed forward as the bullets harmlessly bounced off her aura. As she got close to one of the soldiers, the man brandished a knife to engage but the blue clad girl was one step ahead due to reading his intentions. She kicked his wrist, causing him to drop the blade and then she followed up with another kick to the mid-section. This normally would have been enough to end it but judging from the impact of her blow, the man was wearing some sort of armor underneath. These guys seemed to be the crazy prepared type.

"What they're doing isn't whats important!" she said loudly. In reality? She wasn't sure, she had just noticed the Russian soldiers and knew enough of the situation the entire western seaboard was in that she knew stopping them was the correct and heroic course of action. That was her main goal after all, be a hero. So, understandably, she was a bit upset when she found out her shields had been for naught. What a disappointment, no matter though! She would make up for it by saving the day!

She peaked back around her shield as Mav stole the attention of the guns and their holders. She leaped forward suddenly and quickly advancing to the soldier left over as she attached one of her shields to her other arm, throwing up as he started to fire. Bullets flew into the sky but he quickly dropped the gun and went at her with a knife, which she blocked by bringing down the same arm, shield attached. Usually this would  have have continued by him turning around, but she kept going, leaping into the air with a spin and bringing her real, metal, and heavy, shield down onto his back with several sickening cracks following the movement and him falling to the ground lip. "Finish quick! I'm after the others!" she said before racing forward, all of the shields she put up staying in place.

"On it!"

Of course it wouldn't be that convenient. If figuring out the Russians' plans were so easy, the war would have long ended by now. The shield girl was right. There was plenty of time to figure out what they were after later. As long as they stopped them now, it wouldn't matter.

Mav followed up her kick with a second kick to the jaw. This time she was pretty sure it wasn't armored, knocking the guy out but getting blood on her shoes. Seeing that her ally for the evening had gone ahead, she followed soon after making sure the ones they already beat were really down. It wouldn't be good if they got up again too quickly. Once she was certain, she fired a line at the top of the building next to them and propelled herself up to get a better view.

Jumping from rooftop to rooftop, she finally caught sight of the soldiers who left first. If they continued on their course, it pretty much looked like they would end up going to city hall. There were certainly more than enough reasons for the Russians to target it. Being up on top, it was simple enough to cut-off the soldiers making their way through the cramped alleyways by going over the buildings. On the corner right before the alleys would exit into the main street in front of the hall, Mav dropped down again to block their path.

Right as the Russians started to raise their guns to confront Mav, up came Miss Magnificent, out of nowhere really. Coming out of a building with a devastating uppercut to one of the soldiers. She was using her shield arm and the sound of crunching ribs audibly split through the air along with a pained yelp from the soldier. Heroic Brutality. But once again, she was forced to  duck behind her shield as his friend unleashed a flurry of bullets in her direction. The bounced off of the shield continuously, clinging, clanging and more often than not digging themselves into the ground by her feet.

Keeping her pinned down he pulled out a flashbang and threw it to the feet of Mav. It quickly went off, clearly for close encounters like the one he was going through now. Right after he turned away to let it go off without disabling his vision before pulling a pistol out the instant after it went off and firing a shot at her to see if his surprise would allow him an opening to run.

It was an explosive: non-lethal according to her sixth sense, but she shielded her eyes just the same. Quick thinking on the part of the soldier, but not something too unexpected from the kind of gear they would normally carry around. There was no time to dodge the incoming gunshot so she didn't bother. Stepping forward as the bullet harmlessly bounced of her aura, Mav proceeded to disarm the soldier and kick him against the alley wall. She followed up with a couple more kicks until she was sure the man was down. Holding back was not an option. These men didn't know when to give up so it was better to make the decision for them by incapacitating them by any means necessary.

"Did we miss anyone?"

*ONE MONTH+ AND A VACATION LATER*

Jamie looked around, reasonably pleased with their work. This new girl was tough. Tougher than herself. She smiled at her and rose her hand "Hello. My name is Miss Magnificent current resident of Titan's tower, and leading its restoration." she looked over the girl. "I... you weren't in my briefing." she said, curiously. "So you're not a titan despite those talents you just showed here?!" This was a crime of itself! How could someone be this powerful and not be on one of the teams...though she supposed that was better than being on the 'away' team. Jamie wasn't sure how to feel about them. "Well, um, thanks for your help and if you ever want to come to the tower...despite it's current state of disrepair you'll be welcome by...well, me. Im the only one at this moment."

"I go by the name Maverique." Mav replied, dusting herself a bit. "It's a bit embarrassing but I didn't really recognize you. I guess I'm not that as up to date as I thought on the current Titans."

Mav laughed a bit when Magnificent commented about her not being with the Titans. "Well, it's not like I would have declined an invitation. The whole war thing has everyone scrambling to do what they can to help out, Titan or not, so it's never really bugged me."

"Must be a bit lonely then being the only one. I'll keep it in mind to pay a visit some time. It was a pleasure working with you tonight."
