Marleigh smiled. "Of course being selfish occasionally is good to keep one's spirits up. But if I were too selfish, I would not be half as good a maid as I am. The master's wishes come first after all."

The maid did not expect she would actually do it, but it was a nice surprise that the Princess was showing more consideration for others. Whether or not that attitude stays after her reset remains to be seen. But at least there was promise that she could still be steered in that direction. That was enough to make her feel relieved.

Moving on to the task at hand, the Princess had specifically mentioned she wanted to be more hands-on today since it was a gift for an important person. Marleigh had no objections to that, but she still had to keep in mind that the finished product must be good and special. She decided that the best way would be for her to handle all of the measurements while leaving the mixing and decorating to Jemmy.

And thus they proceeded with the baking.
