Deep, Pause, Trouble - Head downwards...

Superpowers rule. Her mother always gave her a peeved look when she called her abilities superpowers, said they were just part of what she was now, that they were nothing to get excited about, that she could be as normal as she wanted to be. Yeah, ok - helpful. So she should go be a soccer mom and eat cheerios. She could even date some mediocre man who had a drinking problem! Yeah, no. She didn't get her superpowers, yes superpowers so she could be average. Remember the parable about the servants and the talents? Yeah. No.

And one particularly cool thing about her powers was that she could, if she WANTED (and this was important) taste things a good while after they had passed their lips. So, she'd done what any responsible american would do in that particular situation: She bought some junk! Not... TOO much junk food, mind you... just... some. Chips... soda... that kinda thing. And there she sat outside the Kwikkskid convenience store, out of uniform as she very much enjoyed her break between patrolling. She told herself... taking five wasn't a bad thing. She'd decided to be a superhero, and even superheroes needed breaks.

Time for more soda. Another rockin' part of her powers - she didn't have to go to the little googirl's room. She didn't need to balance her diet. She could eat what she wanted - she'd never get fat! She would look exactly how she wanted to look... until the cows come home. All she had to do was stop herself clearing out the fridge because she didn't get full anymore unless she wanted to! Rock out.

As she brought her refill up, the clerk gave her a look of mild amusement. "Holy crap lady... that's like... your sixth bellybuster in a row. Do you like... have a hollow leg full of weed or something?" he said, completely deadpan.

"Yeah, I guess - aches something wicked in the damp." she said, and gave him a cheshire grin. She paid, turned, and... looked right down the barrel of a .45.

She narrowed her eyes to look past, right into the masked face of a robber. Of. Course. If it doesn't rain... it pours. "Lemme guess. Gimme all yo-

"Gimme all yo money, lady! Dont gotta shoot you inna face, do I?" he said in a thick accent, his breathing heavy, his palms sweaty. She could just about feel him squirming on that trigger. Right about there, she socked him. She didn't move her arms. Her belly became an arm. She was already grabbing his hand when he tried to squeeze the trigger. Clurch! All he accomplished was making his gun jam. A firing pin fulla goop will do that. She ensured he held onto it tho, and felt a snap as his trigger finger snapped. She stared into his eyes, deadpan, completely unamused as he screamed.

"Wh-What the hell!" he said, his voice breaking in the middle. Flux's hoodie and jeans became her super suit, and with another of her cheshire grins, she scythed his feet out from under him, and headbutted him savagely to the ground. KO!

"Holy %#!@! Die freak!" She turned. There was a man stealing junk food. He leveled the .45 HE had, and Flux realized she couldn't possibly stop him firing this time. And if the bullet went through her, or bounced all over the place, it'd probably hit someone. CRAP!

Kane saw the robbery going on and immediately ran away. Now I know what you're thinking: Why is he running away? Isn't he supposed to be a hero? Well all those are valid questions, but while you were wasting time asking them Kane had run into an alley where no one could see him and got changed, he came out a different way so as to not arouse suspicion, not that anyone had seen him in the first place, but it's better to be cautious.

Kane burst into the restraunt Hey you! Drop the gun! the robber turned to him and was about to either say something or just fire, not that he had enough time to do either. Kane launched himself at him so fast that no one would have been able to see it, they would just see Kane suddenly in front of the robber and hear the robbers gun hit the wall and shatter.

The robber looked in surprise and fear at the broken gun, and then gave the exact same look at Kane, who was casually smiling as if the robber was his mate Boo! the robber jumped back in fear and then Kane jumped behind him and kicked him out the door, he hit a lamppost so hard it bent. He collapsed to the ground unconscious.

Flux saw Kane appear suddenly in the doorway. Of course, the robber, already ratcheted up a notch, swung the gun at the man and made ready to fire! Flux was already surging towards the man with the gun in the moment of distraction Kane had bought her, but... Kane was... well, he was on top of it! Kane hurtled through the air and hurled the robber's gun against the air!

The masked mook didn't know how to deal with this... but he rallied, drew a knife so Kane wouldn't see and... caught Kane's foot, right in the chest. Flux heard the crack of ribs even from where she was, and threw herself against the countertop to get the heck out of the flying man's way. She almost wished she hadn't... it probably would have done the robber some good as he bounced off a lamp post, bending it at a 45 degree angle, instantly knocked out.

Flux was Impressed!

"Holy cow, man! Nice ki-- but she was interrupted - by the sound of screeching tires outside. The presence of the car hadn't even registered to her until then, but now she swore (Nutbunnies!) and peeled out on the polished floor on a carpet as she made a break for the door

"Come on, you! They have an escape car!" she called to Kale, and burst out the door in time to see the white hatchback, two doors, no plates, accelerating towards the edge of the parking lot. She ran forward, tossing her arm backward. It extended bonelessly some twenty feet, then she made it elastic and under pressure, and it shot forward hard! On the median she made it stretchy again, and grabbed the back roof of the escape car! Again she made it elastic, but instead of even trying to stop the car (which would probably wouldn't have worked, she pulled herself to it! And it was already accelerating to unsafe speeds into traffic. Flux had to admire the driver's driving skill at least - he managed to scootscoot that little thing through heavy traffic without so much as damaging the paintjob as he merged into the interstate and accelerated sharply... not knowing that he had a Flux on the roof!

Kane too heard the screeching of tires and looked to it, he saw the car drive away, he smiled and calmly walked out the door, for a few seconds it looked like he didn't care. Then he kicked off against the ground into the air and then he kicked off against midair and then seemed to vanish, although his movements could be tracked by the blurry figure too fast to be seen for anything more than a brief sight.

He landed in front of the car, cracking the ground underneath him, for a second it looked like he was going to be run over, but then he lifted his leg into the air to block the car, when the car hit his foot it slowly stopped, even though the criminal was pressing his foot as hard as he could on the accelerator.

Kane smiled and watched them try to get out, as soon as their heads were under the frame of the door he sharply raised his foot and the car rose, the men all hit their heads and writhed on the floor of the car in pain.

Flux came off the car with a SQUEAK as it suddenly stopped, and rushed towards the pavement. Good thing she wasn't human still or she'd have been hurt! She hit the ground beside Kale, but instead of a thud she SPLOOSHED and pooled, then reformed.

And it was then, right then, that they sprouted as much automatic firepower as they could from their jacket pockets - two uzis and an smg - and didn't hesitate a moment. Their accuracy suffered somewhat - but the two stunned men were... well prepared. Frighteningly well prepared really. Bullets hailed at Kale by the tide, the automatic weapons bouncing shots wildly off passing cars as they swerved to avoid the very suddenly stopped hatchback.

But they wouldn't hit Kale. They hit... something, certainly, but all they managed to do was bounce into the sky as they bounced off... a sheet of lovely orange crystal. Flux had partially reformed beside Kale, and her arm had extended like a wing, or maybe a stretched out hand, across his body and hardened into a solid - in this case, crystal, bouncing the bullets into the air where they would hurt no-one.

Flux's other arm jerked out around the barrier, and slapped the SMG out of the gunman's hand, grabbed him, and flailed him once across the hood of the car, indenting it, and knocking him out cold neatly. That left Kale to deal with the last his own way!

Kale could have dodged those bullets if he were prepared, but he was taken by surprise and would have been hit if it were not for Flux, he didn't question how Flux could do something like that, he just saw Flux take out a robber and decided to do so herself. He jumped into the air so high he could not be seen and he landed behind the robber, he then kicked the robber so hard he was sent flying and hit a wall. He looked to his ally Flux and smiled at her Thanks for that, I'm Kicker

Kane smiled at her statement You're probably right, it was nice meeting you though he watched her leave but stayed around for a few minutes, he got some people thanking him or congratulating him, others yelling at him and threatening to call the police. Not that it mattered, the police were coming anyway, he could already hear the sirens.

The policemen arrived and when they saw Kane they all ran out and pointed their guns at him, how cute, he smiled at them as if he was in no danger Morning officers. Lovely day isn't it? the policemen were not as friendly Put your hands in the air! You're under arrest! Kane smiled and raised his hands.

Of course, this was to be expected, Kane was a vigilante and these people were policemen, it was natural that they would not act like allies even though they shared a common goal. The policemen closed in You have the right to remain silent, anything you sa- he was cut off by Kane stomping on the ground, the shockwave stunned all the police officers but didn't harm them. Kane used the time this gave him to jump into the air and then he turned into a blur and went off too fast for the police to know where he went.
